My daughter took lessons with them from when she was 4 until 8 years old. The things I really like…read moreabout them: - you pay on a monthly basis and get the time slot you want and keep it as long as you continue to pay. None of that re-enrolling after 10 weeks (or however long other swim programs are) and writing down 3 time slot choices (hoping to get your #1 choice). - group session is maximum of 3 swimmers! - consistent teachers. My daughter had teacher John for almost 2 years before seeing a different teacher. - program director is very receptive of comments. Example: one new teacher talked a lot in the beginning to the point the kids were no longer listening. Explained the situation to the program director and the following week, there was improvement. Short instructions, kids listened well, and ample swim time. My daughter would've stayed with Orca if it weren't for the fact that she wanted to join a swim team and needed that next-level program to improve her endurance and skill set. I always recommend first time swimmers to check out Orca.

Orca's unique approach to swimming truly is a miracle. I just completed the 8 class beginner course in the Bothell pool. I am amazed they were able to overcome all my years of negative self-talk and experiences and now I am able to hang out comfortably in the deep end of the pool. They dispelled all my misconceptions I had about swimming and myself. Do you want to feel safe and actually enjoy yourself in this new phase of your life? Contact Orca Swim School. I am so glad I did. Truly enlightening.

One of my children was petrified of the water and wouldn't submerge his head on the first day, and three months later, he was literally swimming across the pool independently. My other child could just barely swim, and by the end of a few months, he could nearly beat his instructor in a swimming race across the pool. Lisa and her staff are incredible. They are dedicated to helping kids learn water safety awareness, building confidence and independence, improving swimming technique and endurance, all while encouraging kids to have fun and truly enjoy the water. We are so grateful to Lisa and her teachers (our boys adored Aidan!) for helping my children learn the important life skill of swimming--something they will take with them for the rest of their lives!

After one session with Gelsi she emerged from the pool so proud that she actually swam. The way that Gelsi broke down her instruction into logical points that clicked with my daughter was much appreciated. Also, the owner, Lisa, is responsive and easy to communicate with. She checked in with us following the first lesson to make sure that we were happy.

The instructors came across as unprofessional, a lot of inconsistency, not much structure, and not enough attention on the kids. It often felt like they weren't prepared for the lessons or didn't really know how to manage the class. Because of that, the actual learning just wasn't there. Kids weren't getting clear instruction, corrections, or real progress. It felt more like loosely supervised pool time than an actual swim lesson, which is not great considering the hefty price in exchange for "golden" quality and the expectations they set. I would often see teachers chat with other staff during lessons which really disappointed me as a parent because not only are you not giving the quality of education promised, but you're jeopardizing the safety of my child by looking away. I don't understand why I need to pay a hefty price to feel anxious during their education. Along with the teachers, they swap out and change too often to be consistent. Overall, it didn't feel like a place where children could genuinely develop their skills or learn safely. I wouldn't recommend it based on what I saw. There are definitely better places out there, or even a family trip to a pool would benefit more than a yearlong subscription in my opinion.

Mind-well, ProClub has 6 classes at similar level during the week, which I can attend, and I was specifically told by ProClub staff, I will be able to cancel and reschedule class if needed. The overly restrictive time for Non-members compounded by their lack of understanding that sometimes due to unavoidable reasons people may need to reschedule, make ProClub aquatics not a good choice.

My four year old is doing well and I now feel safe with her in and around other pools. She shouldn't be too far behind her brother in graduating from the program! They do a wonderful job of keeping classes small and giving each child the attention and direction each ones needs. We did have to wait for about a year on the wait list, however it was definitely worth it, and I believe the schedule has since been adjusted to get more children in on a weekly basis. We have been to the YMCA and St. Edwards for lessons in the past, but having a private pool and smaller classes makes a world of difference. I highly recommend Angelfish!

In our final class, our child got stuck in a class where the instructor was overly focused on kids below their ability level, impatient with kids, and not teaching progressing skills. The final straw was when they used the excuse of my child not knowing his strokes to not accommodate him schedule wise when I observed they spent no time teaching them. We were staunch supporters of this program until they had some very rude run ins with our nanny over make up schedules which were their mistake and confusion. Then, after 5 years of loyal support and our child needed to take classes after school very rudely scheduled us out of the program telling us our child was not advanced enough to proceed to the next level and they couldn't make it work when it was very clear they had placed my child in a class in a level too low where they were not properly challenging him. They had good instructors but then lost one of their best during Covid and the main good instructor has cut back significantly leaving much of the program to others. I would not recommend the program at this point. Though they are fine at teaching the basics I found both my children progressed most and faster in other programs for example the SJCC or Riptides. Other programs are more technique focused. Just because your child "graduates" does not mean they will have legal swim technique.

The 30 minute one-on-one lessons were ideal for reviewing my progress and expanding my skills as I became ready. I also appreciated that the school provides a blank lesson book that my teacher and I could write in to establish what to practice between lessons (otherwise I would forget). I attended the Redmond location and had Colt as my teacher. He is a skilled musician but also patient and non-judgmental which is exactly what I needed from a teacher of such a precise art form. I unfortunately had to stop my lessons due to busy life constraints but when I'm ready to resume the practice I will definitely return to 4/4!
