Our garage door spring broke and we reached out to several companies on Yelp to come assess the damage and quote for replacement spring. One of their technicians came out and said we needed "heavy duty" spring for our door and it would cost 350 for spring replacement. I requested service for a broken garage door spring, assuming it was a standard item. Matt arrived promptly at the time I booked. He was friendly and knowledgeable, and he was surprised to see my garage door and spring was not standard. He promised to get me a quote that day, and when the supplier didn't get back to him in time, he called to check in and let me know he was still working on it. The next day Matt escalated the job to Ammar, who brought a variety of rarely-needed springs to the service call and he was able to complete the job. He explained exactly what it was about my door that was so unusual (the previous owner had installed an exceptionally heavy door for such a narrow space) and made me feel completely satisfied that I really did require the heavier spring. Here's the best part: after he replaced the broken spring, he noted that the rollers were getting pretty worn and that the existing garage door motor was not optimal for such a heavy door, but instead of trying to pressure me into roller replacements or a new motor, he told me how to keep the rollers lubricated to prolong their life as much as possible and said there was no problem to keep using the current motor but just to be aware it probably wouldn't last as long as we might expect. Bottom line: these guys are honest, knowledgeable, dependable, and they're not going to give you a hard sell. He was able to fix and salvage the existing door, saving me thousands of dollars. Very happy with the knowledge, price, efficiency and friendly and reliable service! I used yelp to find garage door services that were top rated and close to me and Safety Garage Door came up first. On a Sunday, around 3:30 pm, while using the garage door, one of the panels popped and came out of alignment. I was concerned about securing the home. FYI my garage door was always popping and I was told that's as good as it gets for such an old garage door. Finally one of the panels popped out of alignment, making a gap in the door. I was concerned about securing the home. By 6 pm the garage door was fixed! All 12 plastic brackets were replaced with heavy duty metal, coils were adjusted and tightened and the track and gear were upgraded to lift a heavier door. Not only were the panels aligned properly but the door lifts more efficiently without popping. I've had other technicians look at the garage and told me that's as good as it gets, with the popping noise, or that the brackets were no longer manufactured and that I would have to replace the whole garage door. I set up a Yelp project on a Saturday afternoon at 3:50pm. Got pinged by multiple companies and from the picture multiple companies pinged me to replace the entire garage door. I decided to go with someone who didn't want to instantly replace a dented door. So Alex called me to set up and appointment and Sharif came over right on time. I asked him if the door needed to be replaced after he took 20 seconds to look at it and he asked me "why?". He quickly quote me what I thought was a reasonable price to redo the tension in the garage door spring and set up a bar to hold the door back in proper position. After more troubleshooting he fixed my sensor placement. Ammar worked on our garage door after a technician from another company had already worked on the garage door and (incorrectly) determined that the motor was burnt out and needed to be replaced at a cost of ~$1000. Ammar began by inspecting the garage door assembly. He found one of the bearings was difficult to turn and needed to be replaced, taking time to explain it to me clearly. He then replaced the torsional springs (according to our original scope of work) and then replaced the worn bearing. He then sprayed lubricant/solvent on the hinges and reinstalled the original motor (which had been removed earlier) and demonstrated that it worked no problem. I would guess the motor worked because Ammar took extra steps like replacing the bearing to ensure smoothness of the garage door's motion. They wanted to change many parts that were new (eg drums were less than a year old), and wanted to charge $225 for a heavy duty cable that is $10 on Amazon.
