I already knew the safety sensors were not working but wasn't sure what the issue might be. The technician arrived and I explained what I had already done to troubleshoot the issue, including installing new sensors. He indicated it was likely the wires or the circuit board inside the opener itself. I asked if he could simply test to see if power was getting to the sensors before running new wires. He connected a new wire to one of the sensors he removed from its bracket and said, yes that's the problem, you need new wires ran from the opener to the sensors. So I asked "what would that charge be?". He indicated he would charge $50 + $175 =$225.00. I opted not to have him run the wires. He then said the charge would then just be $175. He said it was for his "experience and for his time to come to our house". I asked so what was the "free estimate?" By his definition, the "Free Estimate" was simply him showing up, but I needed to pay for his expertise. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY IF YOU WANT TO GET A FREE ESTIMATE OF THE WORK NECESSARY TO RESOLVE YOUR GARAGE DOOR ISSUE.

I relieved some "tension" on the door/springs and that appeared to help, but the door was almost too heavy to move after pulling the emergency cord to disengage the opener. I wanted to ensure that the door could move without the opener. So, I was on borrowed time with this device! When I investigated, 2 steel cables were both loose on either side of the springs. I thought the springs failed along with the steel cables. I disengaged the opener and confirmed it was ok. Now, for the repair, I did not have a clue who to hire! Well, after Google searches and some phone calls I found a repair facility that not only fixed my problem, but found and fixed other problems!!! I called Garage Doors Plus, LLC 270-745-0091 and spoke to David the owner on 6/30/2020. He suspected I lost 1 spring earlier, and the other went out on 6/29/20. He wanted to come out and inspect and measure. David arrived, analyzed problem, found other problems, provided an estimate, and mentioned that the door would probably be fixed that same day. David at Garage Doors Plus, LLC found my sensors were installed incorrectly and that could have been dangerous for small children, animals, or anything else lower than these 2ft high sensors. It's a code violation the way (###########) had installed my garage door when the house was built in 2008. David also stated, not only would his company fix my problem, and the sensor installation, but they would inspect the opener and gears to see if wear had occurred, and perform other measures to adjust everything back to specs. Later on 6/30/2020, Chris, the repair tech arrived and in less than an hour had the door working better than it originally did when we bought the house. Honest, hard working, thorough, trustworthy, are some of the adjectives which apply to Garage Doors Plus, LLC. They charged a very reasonable fee for their services and even went above and beyond what I expected. Please call them if you need service!!! Thank You David and Chris!!

They reused my existing hardware (per plan) and installed all of that cleanly and fully functional. They even installed a door stop for me per request. To save a few bucks in labor, R&M recommended I do the painting myself, I gladly accepted the idea since that's the easy part and time consuming when doing multiple coats. The owner(s) who walked and quoted the job were great at explaining the process and communication was excellent from all whom I interacted with at R&M. Rob had to come out the following week to replace a door gasket with a slight nick in it. Instead of complaining about how trivial that was, they had zero questions and it was clear they expected the job to be as perfect as I did. All payments (e.g. down payment, final payment) were performed via their digital online payment portal for convenience. If your door project simply has to be good, I'd definitely give these guys a try.

A couple hours later and a fraction of the cost later it was repaired good as new! Over the last several years Ryan has installed many shelves, hung pictures, replaced garage door trim and repaired dry rot, fixed a door falling off the hinges, installed a new thermostat, replaced a bathroom vanity, the list goes on. Everything he's done has always turned out wonderful. He does have a two hour minimum charge. So I have a check list on my phone called Ryan's to do list. I save up several tasks and have him come out and do multiple things at once. I would highly recommend him.

Absolutely wonderful experience with Real Garage Doors! I had a spring that broke on my garage door, I called a different company first and when they told me it would take at least a week before they could get to me I knew I had to find someone else as I wasn't willing to wait. I checked Yelp reviews and Real Garage Doors stood out. I called and spoke to Chris, although I never met him he was very polite and personable. If I didn't know any better I would've thought we were life-long friends. I described my issue and he was able to quickly diagnose what was needed and provide an estimate. He mentioned he could have a technician at my house first thing the next morning which was great. The technician arrived, evaluated the situation and informed me my garage door springs weren't standard and they would have to check for availability. Chris called me back and informed me of my options, get them same day or wait two weeks to order from the manufacturer; the price difference was negligible so I opted for the same day installation. The technician picked up the springs, returned to my house later that afternoon and completed the job within 45 minutes. Chris called back to ensure of a job well done and all I had to say was great things about him, the technician and this company. Although I've used Yelp for so many times, I've never written a review for any business (sorry, Yelp). However, this time, I just got to write one for Mike with Real Garage Door, because he sooooooo deserved it. Like most other cases, my garage door broke at a time which couldn't be worse. Then, two guys from another company came and 'fixed' it for me on the same day. They were 3-hour late, took full advantage of my situation and ripped me off biiiiiig time for doing a private job on the side of his company. They even broke something else while at the job and charged me extra big bucks. I was so mad for knowing I was ripped off but just had no other choices. Guess what? After a couple of weeks, the garage door broke again, because they had used a wrong set of springs which caused new problems! This was when Mike with Real Garage Door came. He was right on time, courteous, professional, experienced and efficient. He knew exactly what he was doing. And most of all, he was such an honest guy and genuinely cared for his customers. Also, he was so reasonable on the price, less than half of what I was charged by the previous guys. Very satisfied with their service. Came by to check the problem with my 1994 model Craftsman garage door opener system. In just 5 mins (just by the sound of it) Nico recognized the problem as worn out sprocket. He came as planned the next day with the parts to fix the old garage door opener system. Nico even fixed my neighbors garage door issue in just 5 mins (since it was misaligned sensors on the floor) for no charge. My neighbor had bought a new sensor to replace (that was not needed). The charges were very reasonable for repair. Their quote new equipment and installation for a new Liftmaster 8550W was lower than Costco (after the discount). read more

Prompt, curtious service. Received prompt response to online chat from Mike (owner) for estimate and appt for broken spring. They saw me same day and our tech was Sunny who came out and was very informative and communicative about what was broken and how he could fix it with options for some future repairs that were able to hold off on. They keep adding and adding things that could be fixed. Example, I was quoted $200 for a single garage door rubber seal... when I stopped to think about it, the price went down to $100.... After a while the Tech stopped trying to up-sell me and did the job in 15 minutes and then left to see this next "victim" Service Tech showed up over 1/2 hour late after the appointment window.. Total waited over 3 1/2 hours for the Tech to show up.... Never called or gave an update of when he would arrive. Ended up calling their office to find out where the Tech was. Work took only 15 minutes... Took 20+ minutes to negotiate the price... I did not receive the website coupon discount. I asked the Tech and he said it was included... I later checked the Billing and did not see the coupon listed on the bill. When the work is quoted, asked to have the coupon deducted from the bill after the quote. The coupon should not be blended into the quote... If they will not deduct a coupon amount, then they are running a scam... (I am only guessing... Maybe the Tech gets anything over a set price?, so he if he quotes high, then discounts back, it looks good to the customer. For example, if the Tech quotes $500, and if the "list price" is $300, then if the Tech then "gives" you $100 discount, the Tech could makes a "extra" $100 commission. Again, I am not sure, but the pricing is very fishy. Beware! ) Again, I would get a written quote and then compare other companies... My repair should have cost no more than $500, they got $700 from me.... I can see how some poor "grandma" would pay over $1500, when she is pressured to make the repairs... Beware

After comparing reviews I decided to hire Palms Garage Doors. I provided all of the pertinent information regarding my garage door issue. Then they proceeded to set up a time slot based off my preference. I requested for the 1-3pm slot. The technician, Geva, arrived close to 230pm which met the 1-3pm slot I requested for. After meeting w/Geva who I learned was also a veteran of the armed forces like myself ...but from another country which was impressive after sharing his combat experience w/me. He proceeded to troubleshoot & diagnose the issue after I advised him of the issue (not opening/closing). After he was done...he advised me that the driver belt & motor were bad...he even showed me the worn out driver belt. The motor we currently have didn't have a backup battery(outdated system) & wasn't properly working even after Geva adjusted the setting. So after discussing my options w/Geva I decided to have the motor & driver belt replaced. So I opted for the standard smart lift master w/the driver belt as opposed to the chain linked one. He then proceeded to work (disassembly & installation). After Geva completed w/the installation he went on & started testing the garage. As soon as he closed it using the opener I was impressed w/the slower speed & closed smoothly. He then opened it & it was the same result. He then proceeded to instruct me to download the app which will enable me to control the garage door ...which I've never done before. It's definitely advanced from what I'm use to since now it not only allows me to open it from my phone but there's a built in video camera which will sense anyone in the garage while the garage opens & closes. Overall, I was impressed with everything that Geva provided w/his outstanding service. It feels like a brand new garage door even though the motor, drive belt, & track were the only ones replaced. It is once in a life time opportunity to see a garage door taken down and replaced with a new one. So I sat outside the garage door and watched from beginning to end the whole time Omar worked. I can tell you that the special thing about Omar is how efficient he works. This is a one man company. He does his work all by himself while answering customers calls. One would think that this would distract him from his work. But NO! Because he is so fluent in his tasks on hand being so experienced after working so many years, he didn't miss a beat on his tasks on hand. They got done fast and with proper sequence. It's like he did this without even need to think about it. He completed his work on time too! I think the reason he could charge reasonable price lower than the big companies that have multiple employees to manage is because he is a one man company and he is so efficient that he can pass that efficiency to his customers without sacrificing the quality. Instead of addressing clear mechanical needs--like the failing rollers and springs that cause the door to slam dangerously hard--he spent the entire visit overstepping his role. He claimed our home warranty wouldn't cover the work and tried to shame us for wanting to repair an "old" door, all while pushing a $6,000 replacement. It was a blatant, dishonest attempt to take advantage of a service call for a high-commission upsell. Total conflict of interest.
