I only go here for select items, and I'm giving them 4 stars because their prices rock on those specific items I buy as a club member. I wouldn't go here without being a club member. I highly suggest if you buy things like bottled water or snacks/treats of any kind (though mostly the unhealthy kind), or really anything you can specifically think of, definitely become a club member to take advantage of their great discounts. read more

I'm feeling super sad right now about how bad customer service was:( so my friend's birthday is tomorrow and I was hoping to get a balloon arrangement and some flowers. When I get to the store there is no one near the flower and balloon section. I grab the flowers then walk to a cash register to let them know I want balloons. The worker turns around to another worker telling them to help me get a balloon. She then pings someone else to assist me by the gift area. I walk over and tell her which balloon I want and if she can add more regular balloons. With a mean face and with an attitude she says no you can't add more balloons because I don't know how much they're or anything. I then ask her well can you look the price up or have someone else help me and she says no, again. At this point, I'm shocked at the way she's responding to me and her poor attitude. I then walk over to the self checkout feeling puzzled at the whole situation. I scan the item and it doesn't recognize the code. At this point I've already lost my temper and the motivation to get anything. I really didn't feel like the store deserved my money so I literally tell the worker I'm not taking this shit and leave. It was such a sad moment:( I never want to step foot in his store ever again. Everything was such a tragic experience and my friend won't be getting her balloons or flowers !!!!! read more

This Safeway is big and clean...it about the size of midtown Safeway. I love that they have gas. I have been to a lot of Safeway's in San Jose and i was hoping they would have the nut bar like the one on Snell and branham....let down that they didn't. There was plenty of people willing to help and every employee in the store greeted us. Very friendly. I also went to the Starbucks very roomy and have lots of seats. Gave 4 stars only because I wanted some of the other features closer to home that some other safeway's have. Great Selection of meat and seafood. the bakery is good. read more

I originally started shopping here like many people I suppose because it's close to home but after trying another local grocer I'll be sticking to what works. The first time I came in here one of the managers greeted meet as he was walking by the door. while that was the only time it happened I can tell this type of leading from the top down is working well here. I needed a unique cake for my baby shower. I checked with the bakery manager Rosa, and she said they could make the cake for me. Edisa made the most beautiful cake that surpassed my expectations. Safeway and gas??? YES! The gas is cheap and I usually watch what I put in my car but when I went it was under $4 so I had to check it out. The wait was nothing compared to what you see at a Costco so that was really nice. I am not sure if the prices are going to spike or not but if they stay low that would be nice. Just spent 20 mins in line!!! I like Safeway for their variety and they usually have everything I need when I'm a pinch, even though they are a bit overpriced, but no matter what store I go in the lines are ALWAYS extremely long!!!! What's the point of having ten check stands and only having one open?!!!!!!!???? Granted it was 9pm but when there are a dozen customers waiting to get checked out you'd think a manager would come out or the clerk in the check stand would call for help. Eventually the manager and another appeared out the blue to help but it took them 20 mins from the time I got in line and by that time there were another six people behind me. Why can't they have more checkers during the off peak hours!??? Am I the only one that's experienced this at any or ALL Safeways???? read more

It was 7:30 i shopped till 7:50 went to check out holly crap there was a huge line and one checker. After 15 minutes i decided to call the store. I thought maybe i could muster up an employee to come out and assist all the customers. I asked if another checker could come and assist. I was told thats all we have at this hour. I think the store may need a Manager to take a look at when people shop and staff accordingly. I have a job and could not wait all night so i left my basket of groceries i the line and went home. I will not go back and will shop at Trader Joe's. read more

So the truth is yelp is that most people submit a review if they had an excellent experience or a really bad one, mine is both. The store on hamilton is clean and has a great selection compared to others so i usually prefer to go this location than any other. Unfortunately, today i had to u s e customer service, and Rebekah the office clerk appears to be just a miserable person. Not sure why they put her at customer service because i doubt she knows the definition. She treated me like i was the biggest inconvenience, barked a few questions, gave me a scowl and slammed my money on the counter. This safeway succeeds in so many areas,but fails at hiring and keeping clerks like rebekah, bah humbug. read more

Ever since they merged the Safeways into this one they also reduced staff and now there are continuos lines at any time of the day. I have never seen all their check outs open even when the lines are huge. In fact they usually the 1/3 of lines open. The average wait time is now more than 15 mins read more

I really like the layout of this store. For example, the produce is all near the front of the store. It's a subtle difference from other grocery stores, but I was able to get in and get out with everything I needed without having to walk through all the areas where I didn't need to go. read more

I will say that this Safeway is by far the best Safeway in the area hands down. It is a fairly new store that was built well. It has a self checkout area and plenty of check stands. All the departments in the store are nice and well ran. My favorite s are the bakery and the huge produce area. The store is clean and well stocked and maintained. The staff here is friendly and efficient with their jobs. Especially the cashiers: they are fast moving through the line. We also buy our gas here and take advantage of the savings and just for u coupons. I don't do all my shopping at Safeway but when I do shop at Safeway this particular store is my first choice. read more

I used to think Safeway was over price but with the new app they have you can customize your coupons. I like this Safeway because the workers are pleasant at all times I have never gotten any attitudes. In one occasion they didn't have 2 infant formulas I had to buy 2 to get my discount so the cashier gave my $6 off and gave me my coupon back. Yay read more

Went to the deli today to grab three sandwiches. There was one person in front of me and the total time was just over 30min for me to get my food.This would have been somewhat okay if the employee Naria was actually polite or seemed to care at all. Good selection, clean store. Great gas station. Went to the deli the other day for a sandwich and the service was terrible. The employee (who seemed to be making herself sandwiches) apparently could stop the sandwich making to either 1) help me or 2) go get someone who could. She literally yelled for her co-worker to come out and help me. Twice. Right in front of me. Before grabbing the sandwiches, chips, drinks and walking off. The coworker was crazy slow. All I wanted was one tuna sandwich. The employee noted they had lettuce-but she would have to go somewhere to get it. I just wanted to go, so I declined lettuce. I ended up paying $6.00 for a 10 minute tuna and mayo on wheat (no sides or drinks). :-/ read more

I have reviewed this place over 4 years and it never changes. I heard a man walk out the other day saying "I hate this store!" I said I know what your saying. The lines are too long, not enough checkers. Dont ever count on getting in and out in a hurry even if you have 1 item. I can never find what I am looking for even if its on the list, they always discontinue items I like. I often wonder who the heck is making the decisions to buy the items for the store? I end up going to several stores and frankly I am sick of the same old crap at Safeway. read more

Very nice Safeway location. It has gas pumps, which if you're like me... You save a dollar a gallon practically every full up.

This last fill-up w/out any credit for cheaper gas on my Safeway card, I noticed that the price I was being charged was TEN CENTS MORE than the lit sign. What the heck??? So when I left I saw an unlit sign and it's 10 cents more with a Credit Card. So I ended up paying MORE THAN ROTTEN ROBBIE. I think they are trying to deceive those of us who don't approach the station from Hamilton but rather come in the "back way." Even when I'm on Hamilton and go in, I don't really pay much attention to the sign due to the traffic and wanting to look for a line that has space for another car to fill up. ****BE WARNED, unless you have a discount from your Safeway purchases, GO TO other discount stations AND SAVE MONEY.**** At least with a Camry Hybrid I only have to fill up every 450 or 500 miles... The gas is $2.17. Very cheap. The staff is awesome and they help me in when its busy. They are always prepared for us football fans with a one stop shop. I got everything I needed for the game all at once. read more

I ordered a delivery that was supposed to arrive between 5-7pm. I planned on doing a couple of errands afterward. I was CHARGED, and received a receipt via email, but NEVER received the actual groceries. I called the store, and ANGELA said that that there was nothing that she could do, even though it was her store that charged my account. I called the delivery support line, but hung up after waiting for TWENTY minutes with no answer! I emailed, but got the auto response. What a waste of time. This Safeway is so freezing cold inside you have to wear UGG boots with two pair of socks and a hat to finish all your shopping....I had to LEAVE without getting everything I needed because i was so cold.....this happens in the summer too. I am pretty sure its the last time i use this Safeway just because of the cold....they also have great products and then all of a sudden they don't So if you find something you like dont expect to find it again two weeks later , they will no longer carry it . They also change their product according to season...so if you like chocolate yogurt forget about being able to find it while Girl scout cookies are being sold, because chocolate just morphed into thin mint!! The girl in charge of the self checkout gets all the customers with something to say because there is never someone behind the service counter. Thus she has to make the users wait for attention..that really sucks....once again the chicken oven is the ONLY slightly warm place in the whole store. Also watch your checkout items...i guess they don't update the system until after the sale items have all gone out the door at regular price ! read more

This is a clean, well stocked grocery store. I had a $10 summer reward coupon that I didn't realized had expired and tried to use it at the self check-out, (love the self check-out). I asked for assistance and was told it had expired however the clerk punched in her secret code and gave me credit for it anyhow! Nice surprise and great service! Thanx lady! read more

As I've said before... THE WORST SAFEWAY! so much lack of leadership. Professionalism but most of all Customer service!! This guy "billy" today was told by a cashier which than overheard by the a manager and told "billy" to get me an item from the back that they didn't have on the shelf ( refresh waters on sale) unfortunately I stood in the front of the store by the self checkout area for almost 10 minutes waiting to get my items. I Asked the girl at the self checkout ( which btw has being rude to me before) if the guy was still getting my items and she was clueless although she heard when the cashier told"billy" to get me what I needed but sort of ignored her BUT a manager still told him to get what the cashier had asked for. I leave the store to load up my car with my groceries and walk back in with the guy empty handed. He than asked me what I needed. I explained myself to him and to my face he told me "oh I ignored her I only listen to my manager". When he said that I got furious and asked to speak to which ever manager was on site and he tried to brush it off and told me he'd go get the waters which were at the gas station? But than said they were in the back...I had waited long enough so I demanded a rain check. The manager can't seem to get control of her employees I will have to reach out to corporate and speak to them about more deep training these folks here. read more

This Safeway is pretty close to my house so that's what I like about it and it has a gas station (I've never used) I go across the street because of the ridiculously long lines. Speaking of long lines. The store has become more of what looks like a super busy Walmart on a Saturday morning. I'm actually standing in line writing this :) Yes, I actually read tons of reviews standing in line before now writing my own. I decided to write this because there were only 3 checkstands open when I came to checkout and so I picked one. All the lines were long so I was standing in line about 7-10 minutes already and when I get to the belt the cashier looks at me and says this is an express line and it doesn't look like you have 15 items and keeps smacking her gum in her mouth with a blank stare in her face (the way she was looking at me and the way she talked to me was very rude). So I counted my items..I had 17. Okay 2 over and she said well this is an express line (rudely) looked away and smacked gum. Annoyed, (only by the way she talked to me) I went to another line. Maybe she was having a bad day because as I was standing in the checkstand next to hers I noticed that she didn't smile not once. I tried to get her name, but she didn't have a name tag so I had to ask my very sweet bagger what her name was. So ANGELA I hope your days are sweeter to you so you can smile more and stop being so rude! read more
