My father is 87 and no longer drives. When he takes VTA Paratransit to his doctor in Campbell, he stops at this Nob Hill afterward for a few groceries -- and over time, the people here have come to know him. They recognize him, help him, and treat him with real patience and kindness. Last week, all he came in for was milk and a loaf of bread -- and at checkout he realized he'd forgotten his credit card at home. Raul O, the Customer Service Team Leader, stepped in and made sure an 87-year-old man didn't go home empty-handed -- no fuss, no embarrassment. What means the most to our family is that this clearly wasn't a one-off. My father tells us all the time how helpful everyone at this store is to him. A couple of things to unpack at this store. First, in the past I have not been greeted or acknowledged for my visit at the check out. Secondly, the employees in the past, were going through the motions of their daily work. Not truly engaging with their customers throughout the store. Today, that all changed. I walked up to the front entrance as the manager was walking out and greeted me with a smile and a hello as he was showing a team member there was a spill in the grocery cart area that needed to be cleaned up. The manager asked for the employees' idea of the best way to handle the clean up. The employee immediately became engaged and quickly responded to getting the task done. The manger walked away and left the employee to deal with the task. Throughout the store employees were smiling and saying hello. At check out there was a line of four people. The manager immediately jumped on a register and took on customers with a pleasant greeting, asked if I found everything I was looking for. The bagger made mention of the great Bromolaid plant I had chosen. As I was leaving both the manager and the bagger said to have a great day. The contrast of today's visit versus any other I have had in the past was like night and day. Oh my goodness I haven't been to this grocery store in so long and honestly, I just need an easy marinara sauce so I was in the area and decided to stop in. I had no idea organic marinara sauce is basically $10 a bottle!! Man, I'm so glad I make my own marinara sauce From scratch but goodness I'm in a hurry so I was glad to find so many options here at this CampbellNob Hill!! This particular grocery store has a bunch of organic and allergy, friendly items such as gluten-free and all different types of ice cream with cow milk, soy milk, oat, milk, lactose, free, milk, etc. I was really impressed with their wide variety and selection!! They also have a really good cheese section as well as a pretty pricey section, but a lot of good name brands as well as some local Los Gatos and Saratoga Vineyards! I heard great things about the bakery for birthday cakes so I came here for my sons first birthday. The staff who helped me was friendly. I paid for the cake in advance and schedule a time to pick up the day of party. I order a large sheet cake for the group and a smash cake for the baby. An hour before we were supposed to pick up the cake they called explaining that their printer broke and they would be unable to put the large happy face with snuggles on the cake. Obviously this is no one fault and things happen but it was sad to hear. I was assured that they would make the cake look festive. I had a friend pick up the cake and I was disappointed in how it looked. I appreciate the added balloons but it felt very lackluster and had a large gap in the middle. I was able to add some decorations myself which helped. The large cake was delicious though. It was a mix of chocolate and vanilla with a whip cream frosting and fresh strawberries. In addition we were asked to pay for the smash cake at pick up which confused me because the cake was paid in advance. The smash cake was huge, very colorful with sprinkles but hard. Mixed feeling about the whole situation but happy the large cake tasted good. read more

Since I usually don't go out often ( because of the modern convenience of at-home delivery services ) I get my food usually delivered to me by the heavy hitters like Instacart, and today was no exception. Out of all the supermarkets I usually order food from Nob Hill Foods tops the list for selection, overall price, quality, availability of the goods I want, convenience, and the speed as to when I receive my items. Today I only ordered two bags of groceries and the things I ordered were as follows: two regular bags or chips, a carton of fresh-baked premium chocolate chip cookies, a loaf of fresh-baked bread, a 12-pack of Coca-Cola, and 3 " Fun Size " bags of chocolate. The food was BEYOND fresh! I guess I can't really appreciate how good fresh food really tastes ( especially the Coke and the chocolate ) until you have something that you know is fresh off the factory floor but the difference is night and day as to it being fresh a a week old or beyond. When I bit into the piece of chocolate I ate it literally melted in my mouth, was easy to chew, and was a veritable party in my mouth! The bread was light and airy and so pillowy-soft I felt like I was eating a cloud from Heaven, and the Coke was effervescent, light, airy, and just sweet enough to hit the spot! I can't get over as to the quality of the food at Nob Hill and I can see why they have the stellar reputation they do. I have shopped at Nob Hill for years. We usually drop in every couple of days, and we always use the self-checkout. But now you can only use cards at self-checkout, no cash. So we started going to Safeway, where you can still do self checkout with cash. We're disappointed in Safeway's milk cartons (they don't open easily), but their produce looks way better than Nob Hill. Nob Hill used to have a great produce section, but lately it's been a disapointment. I will miss Nob Hill; I like the store and the people. Safeway is closer, but we always preferred Nob Hill. But no cash at self-check out is a deal-breaker for us. Trader may see more of us in the future, as well. I give this store 5 stars as a friendly neighborhood grocery market; 3 stars for produce; and 1 star for cashless checkout. So which do I choose to rate???? I'm gonna go with a 1 for now because that's why I'm writing this review. I am hoping they will reverse their self-checkout decision, but have little hope. The BAKERY: The bakery has great cakes. But it was so disappointing to buy a nice birthday cake for my mother, with the bakery writing "Happy Birthday" with my mom's name in ALL CAPITAL LETTERS. It looked SO bad. A bakery should still know to write on cakes with cursive. If not cursive, at least pretty printing. But really, cursive is what most people expect on a cake. Been going to this market for decades, since before it moved across the street to its current location. People think Nob Hill is expensive, but I disagree. The quality of the products, customer service, fresh produce and meat by far makes up for any more expensive pricing that may occur. And since it's close to me, who has time to drive around chasing sales? I highly recommend this market. They are clean, helpful, knowledgeable, and run an excellent store. read more

We did our wedding florals through Nob Hill at this location and it did NOT disappoint. Florals tend to be such an expensive cost in the wedding industry, but Nob Hill made it very budget-friendly for such a beautiful outcome. The ordering process was seamless and Kristi, the floral director was such help. We ordered a few months in advance and had to have someone pick up the flowers the day of the wedding at the grocery store. This location has been great. All Nob Hill Foods layout is same with most employees who are very nice. I pre-order an unseasoned Chicken every week or so. The Chicken is best for me and my dietary needs. I need to eat clean most of the time. I used to order my un-seasoned Chicken from Knob Hill, Snell Ave., Deli Dept. I don't anymore. It comes down to how I'm treated when ordering. Nob Hill, Campbell Ave, have been great. I make my request, give day, time to pickup, they ask my name and thank me and I thank them. No comments. Bakery Dept. @ Nob Hill Campbell, are wonderful. They smile when greeted, and are very willing to help. This location makes special decorated cookies and put into small black boxes. I went into Nob Hill today and I saw several things that lead me to believe they are not as good as their word. First, as you enter there is a prominent sign, I will post a photo. Second, I went to the bakery. The lady was touching every single cupcake and torte with not gloves on. Here: https://www.fda.gov/food/food-safety-during-emergencies/best-practices-retail-food-stores-restaurants-and-food-pick-updelivery-services-during-covid-19 it says "Use gloves to avoid direct bare hand contact with ready-to-eat foods." This is a direct quote. The manager tried to sell me on that the use of gloves is a false protection and that once you touch something with gloves they are dirty. Well no kidding! But you need to wash your hands, wear a mask, wear gloves and change them OFTEN. Third, several employees did not have their noses covered with their masks. Fourth, the manager himself walked up to me and stood closer than six feet. He also tried to tell me the virus goes right through the mask anyway. So he needs to read the science but the mask is an important safety measure. Fifth, two people were most likely vendors had no mask on. Sixth, several customers had no mask or their nose uncovered. So according to the sign, all employees, vendors, and customers need to have both their mouth and nose covered. Clearly, Nob Hill does not mean this. I will say the manager did his best to sooth my anger and offer me what I need from the bakery supervising the whole time but I said no. He apologized many times, I accepted his apology about the bakery lady. I apologized for being "THAT" customer but it is my life and the lives of my family at stake. Still, he did try to say gloves don't matter, and the virus goes through the mask anyway so essentially discounting the mandate and my concerns. He also said "we are not perfect, we make mistakes." Well, wearing a mask that covers your mouth and nose is not a difficult skills to master. It is pretty straight forward you know if you are doing it or not. If you run a red light, do you just tell the officer you are not perfect and you make mistakes and it's all cool. NO! This requires zero skill. WEAR THE MASK! PROTECT ME AND MY FAMILY FROM YOUR POTENTIAL OF INFECTION. I WILL DO THE SAME FOR YOU. In the end, Nob Hill and it's employees, of whom I saw several standing shoulder to shoulder talking at the front register area when I was checking out at self-check out, do not take this seriously. read more

Never shopped here before but my aunt said they had great filet mignon in the meat department. we have never made it before but we did a special birthday dinner. The butcher was very helpful and got me the perfect piece for our occasion. The best part is that I have never shopped there before and they treated me like I was a valued regular customer that has been coming for years.. The quality meat we got was not cheap but in line with everyone else's price, and it was perfect. Every last tasty morsel! Nob Hill is a grocery store I didn't know existed until I lived in CA. It's a cute store with a great variety of products, way more so than Safeway. The staff is always very friendly and helpful and look like they are at least somewhat enjoying being there, whereas other stores folks look miserable. The parking lot is a bit insane...hard to find parking and everyone seems to have road rage, but you will eventually find a spot. They also stock local CA products which I really like. And make fresh sushi on site, which you might be nervous about but is honestly better than some of the nearby sushi restaurants. Next grocery trip, make this your stop! read more

Honestly, I am grateful to have Nob Hill Foods near me; it is the most convenient and well-stocked grocery store anyone can ask for. First, I really like the location; it is well situated in a convenient private parking lot surrounded by Walgreens and other amenities such as dry cleaning, UPS etc. This makes running chores and doing grocery runs 100% more efficient if you have other things to do at the same time. The store itself is always clean and well-stocked. I oftentimes run between this store and others such as Sprouts, Trader Joe's etc. I can always count on this store having stock if others run out of anything I was looking for. Lastly, this store has some of the best selections available no matter what you are looking for; I even found the exotic African Berbere spice I needed for a recipe. I have been a loyal Nob Hill shopper for over 30 years and have watched it change during that time. Their produce department has continued to decline, but today hit an all time low! I visited on a Friday morning at 8am. There was a peach with bites missing in the display, raspberries with actual "fur", old broccoli crowns, soft apples -- and I disgustedly left. A number of things I was looking for were out of stock...again. The checkout line was 5 people deep and only 1 cashier. The meat department was well stocked, and so was the deli and bakery. COVID or not, Raley's is NOT Nob Hill. I will begin shopping elsewhere. read more

The deli section gets 5 stars every day all day! The pricing on the meats are actually really good if you do not buy pre packaged and is much, much more fresh. They have a huge selection of cured meats and cheeses. This is about my 10th time in this location. Nob Hill's prices tend to be on the higher end so my recommendation would be to buy your regular stuff at other stores but definitely purchase the specialty items hear as a pricing on specialty items are actually quite Fair and seems to be of good quality. This Nob Hill is awesome! The items are decently priced compared to a very overpriced grocery store chain with one closer to my house. Everything here from their great produce offering to their amazing bakery makes for a one stop shop. The baked good from their bakery are super good. I don't mind driving a bit farther to come here as there's never a question if they're going to have what I'm looking for. Heartbroken. Gave the butcher a chuck roast to grind like I do a couple of times a month for taco night. Today instead of grinding the cut of meat I gave him, something else happened in the back where I came home and opened up my supposedly ground chuck to find old grey regular ground meat that looked like it was pulled from the shelves as old product. If Nob Hill would like to take a look at the cameras I'd be more than happy to give exact time and date. Will not ask for fresh grind that close to 5pm ever again but what an awful way to find out. I had throw our the beef because the smell was awful once it hit the pan. Because I was wearing my keys on a lanyard maybe he thought that I was an Instantcart shower and would not know the difference. Wrong. I've been getting fresh ground chuck roast from Nob Hill for over a decade now and I know exact what fresh cut meat looks like. It is not grey by the time you get it home. I'm going to see if corporate can look into what happened and reimburse me once they see proof on film of what I experienced. read more

So glad that I've re-discovered Nob Hill; still remember how sad I was when the Cupertino store closed down. This location is a little out of my way, during a recent random visit, I noticed the wonderful sale on prime rib. Placed an order of a 5 bone roast for our family New Year Eve's dinner; picked up the nicely trimmed and neatly packaged roast on the day requested; everyone was very happy with the tender and juicy meat. I've since visited a few more time, also signed up on-line for 'something extra'. Agree with others that the produce here are definitely priced higher then other places and how I remembered. Meats and seafood are excellent buy especially if on sale; I was happy to find marrow bones and pig hocks in the freezer section. Deli looks great too. With a birthday coming up in our family, the next to try will be the bakery. :) read more

I wouldn't normally write a review of a grocery store even less often for a first time visit, but wow I am impressed. Wanting to switch up my daily routine (and because I had a $20 gift card) I decided to go a little out of my way and check this place out. Three steps into the store and boom from all angles, everything was clean and organized to the inch. Never have I seen a store so big, yet so impeccable on standards. They have a variety of brands for every type of item out there from a huge bread wall to an extensive cheese selection. I will be coming back here more often for my grocery needs. NHF's weekly sales dictate what I cook for dinner. I especially think NHF's meat is by far one of the best. As I've become older, I've cut back on eating red meat, but sometimes NHF has a sale that I simply can't resist. For example, last week NHF had a sale on boneless rib-eye steaks for $6.99. As I looked at each individual package, I saw one that had two steaks with great looking marbling and threw cholesterol to the wind and bought it. When my husband came home, he BBQ'd the steaks (he does the best job ever!) and the steaks were juicy and flavorful just like I like them. Days later I was still thinking about those steaks. Recently, NHF had a sale on tri-tip for $2.99!!! Admittedly, you have to buy the mega pack of 4 to get that price, but I knew I had a couple parties to cook for and took advantage of this fantastic sale. BTW, a family member of mine lives in NYC and said they do not sell tri-tip so when he visits CA, he buys a mega pack of tri-tip at Nob Hill and takes it back with him! Crazy, huh? Interestingly, I cook tri-tip on a spit (a rod that spins around on my BBQ) because a Nob Hill meat guy introduced me to spit-roasting over a decade ago and now I spit-roast practically everything: poultry, pork loins, and meat roasts like sirloin tip. Moreover, NHF carries lengua (beef tongue) and fresh masa during the holidays. As for the produce, NHF carries a good selection of organic produce that looks good, too. Overall, the employees are friendly and helpful and I like their online deals. NHF still needs to work on their app and website, but they will get there some day. read more
