This Safeway is not very clean, the customer service is terrible, the sandwiches taste dry and there was even a time I ordered pasta from the bar and the server put his finger without a glove in it when he handled the bowl. I highly recommend the safeway in mill valley if you have to shop in this location. Also, their turnover rate is super high and they have literally a line of 30 people to every one cashier. read more

Deli workers are very rude. If you're Latino you'll get prompt service with a smile, other that that good luck! They will act as if you are not there after you've been standing there for about 5 minutes, then they act as if you're bothering them when they come help you. Don't come on Saturdays, because the heavy-set one with the reddish like hair will tell you they are out of whatever you ask for, so she doesn't have to work. I cannot believe all of the negative reviews I've read about Safeway in Corte Madera. I'll never forget the time I went there with a friend to see if we could pick up a nice cake for a birthday party we were having that evening. We arrived in the afternoon, on a Saturday. We spotted some nice-looking cakes covered with fruit that looked delicious. There were two people behind the counter, a young man, and an older black woman. The black woman greeted us cheerily and immediately described what each cake was filled with and asked if we wanted to sample them. What? Really? Of course we did. Both were splendid, but since we are both dieting, we ordered the one filled with yogurt. We could not believe the royal treatment we received from that woman. We are going back there for another cake (four months later), and can't wait to have another slice of that delicious light cake with the yogurt filling, topped with fruit. I hope they still carry it. And, I hope that woman is still there. She was a jewel. read more

This Safeway is the worst. Especially the deli. It's like they're in competition with each other to see who can be the slowest person behind the counter! They are also super unfriendly... I am always reluctant to come here, but it's the closest place to get some lunch near my office. I really wish they would get it together at this store!! read more

I'm writing on Christmas Day as I stand in the checkout line here for the past 35 minutes to buy 1 thing. And I get that it's Christmas Day, but they only have 2 check stands open and the self check out lines are all closed. They really should not be open at all if this is the type of customer service they are going provide. This is my neighborhood Safeway and I'm here frequently and it's a very poorly run store in general and especially today. read more

You can't blame the people who work here. Its a thankless minumum wage job and they don't even have a union so the fact that the majority of poeple working here are unhelpful and disgruntled is to be expected. But its offten hard to find a employ if you need help and when you find one they often have a understandably bad unhelpful attitude. Also except for there few sale items every thing is over priced and of low quality. Do your self and the employs a favor and don't shop here the company doesn't treat its employs or its custumers well. read more

One of the baggers, I believe his name was Nadar gave me exceptional customer service, he bagged my groceries quickly and carefully while keeping my infant son entertained and maintaining a conversation with me. He walked my groceries to the car and brought the cart back for me. This experience changed my opinion of Safeway. read more

I can't believe Safeway Corporation hasn't read these reviews and effected a wholesale changeout of the management and (deli) workers at this store. I'd be embarrassed. I've only written a few reviews on Yelp in total so I scrolled down the list to see if there were any other comments about the deli and lines particularly at lunch time. HELLO! You'd think that they actually don't want to be in this business. Safeway, if you don't then shut down the deli cause you obviously don't want to be in this business! There is no-one and I mean no-one around to service the customers particularly at lunch time. On the off chance you see an employee they are usually in the back cowering for cover. I kid you not. Plus if you order a sandwich off the board they ask "what do you want in it." What it says on the sign of course. I've spoken to the manager and they give you that "whatever" look. There has got to be something else going on here. Some weird union rule? Look, the definition of insanity is doing the same thing and expecting a different result. I'm obviously the insane one here. ZERO stars! The worst bakery ever! I do not understand how the bakery staff is allowed by store management to operate in the manner in which they do? Specifically when it comes to custom ordering cakes. I went in Monday morning and ordered a cake. I took the picture of the cake out of THEIR catalog, took it to the counter, asked if they could match the colors exactly. The young man at the counter said yes it's just a matter of coloring the icing. We discussed specifically the cake flavor, size and colors. We discussed what I wanted written on the cake. He wrote EXACTLY what I asked for on the receipt. It could not have been spelled out any easier! We agree I would pick up the cake at 3:00 pm the following Wednesday. This too is written on the receipt. I go in Wednesday morning and present my receipt to ensure the cake has been prepared. They assure me it will be ready at 3:00. I go back in at 3:00 and the young woman, not a baker and clearly not happy about working in the bakery, hands over a cake that in no way resembles what I have ordered. I go to their catalog to show her the cake. The picture has been removed from the catalog. The writing on the cake is wrong, the color is wrong and the price is still $28.99. I have a birthday party in 3 hours and there are no bakers in the store at this time of day. She assures me despite the cake color and writing being incorrect that the cake is the flavor I have ordered. Despite the label that indicates the cake is not the flavor I have ordered, she assures me over and over the cake is the flavor I have ordered. She says the label is generic and automatically printed out in the flavor indicated. We agree that I will get the cake at 50% off due to their errors. Again I am 3 hours out from a birthday party. Three hours later we cut into the cake that is not the flavor I ordered or that was written on THEIR receipt. So now I have come to the realization that they have just yanked a generic cake from their cakes, slapped incorrect words on the cake and lied to me about the flavors. How deceitful do you have to be to do all of this and lie about it while taking my money? I can't begin to explain the disappointment my child expressed with me over this cake. He picked it out especially for the party. This may seem trivial to some but the extent that was taken to lie, cheat and steal from a customer is just unbelievable! I spoke with a friend about this. She told me she had the same problem with this same bakery, twice. read more
