Large, well organized and of course, busy on a Sunday afternoon. Trader Joe's crew speedily unboxed supplies, they were most productive in the produce section. I was able to find everything I needed for a quick meal and a side for a weeknight dinner (hello loaded mashed potatoes!) and all the usual things I pick up at Trader Joe's. This is the Trader Joe's location closest to our home. I've been here a handful of times now, and each time has been a good experience. The parking lot is, in Trader Joe's tradition, small and a bit crowded feeling. But, this particular location does have some wider spots on the outskirts of the parking lot, and that's usually where I choose to park. The produce section is spacious and well laid out, the rest of the store is pretty good, too. The employees I've interacted with have been friendly and helpful. So far, all good things to say about this location. read more

This is definitely one of the best Trader Joe's locations I have ever visited! It is spacious and well-stocked compared to the two stores we typically shop at in San Francisco. The staff here is competent, helpful, and friendly. We usually stop at this location to pick up a few items on our way home from a day trip up north, mainly because we often find what we're looking for. The store nearest to us tends to run out of certain items too frequently. This Greenbrae location not only has a wide selection, but the aisles are easier to navigate, and parking is much more convenient. It's also generally less crowded, making it a more relaxed and pleasant shopping experience. We've come to rely on this store as a dependable stop when we want to avoid the hassle of the city locations. read more

"I have seen my last Stones show" goes the final line of an amusing short video on utoob. Perhaps you've seen it?... portrays Hitler with his senior staff discussing an upcoming European tour of the Rolling Stones playing the numbers on Sticky Fingers, their seminal 1970 album. Hitler, a big fan of the lp - and along with some unknown but sizeable number of other misfits who followed the band for 6 decades - idolizes then-lead guitar virtuoso, Mick Taylor. Hitler gets quite agitated, alarmingly so it seems, as he talks about this tour. He assumes that Taylor will be performing along with the Stones. But in the meeting he's informed that the guitarist, who quit the band in 1975, was not invited to join the band on the tour. Needless to say from that point on Hitler's mood turns to the darkside. At that moment, being stuck in the usual jam of cars vying for an opening in the line to enter or leave, a thought came to me. It was more a kind of resolution, one due partly but not exclusively to the massive clusterfk of cars that regularly jams this location's narrow and only way in'n out. What dawned on me then was that I had arrived at much the same perspective as our rock'n roller Hitler: Exasperation that an obvious fail has been, is and will be forever without hope of improvement. Hitler's final solution, insofar as concerns the once-billed "Greatest rock and roll band in the world" (now considered "Greatest Rolling Stones tribute band in the world") was simply never to return, ergo pour moi: "I have been to Trader Joe's for the last time." The TJ franchise originally claimed that it offered special deals on food because it searched for alternative suppliers to those sold by large grocery chains. The claim was that these were smaller companies making equally good products that were available at lower prices. The Trader discovered these and could sell them to YOU at substantial savings. So along came brands like "2 buck Chuck" wines. Today, fact is the Trader actually has his own products made by whichever supplier offers the best deal for copacking. For the most part you can't find these same brands anywhere else, even to do quality/price comparison. But still the pitch persists, "we look for high quality items and sell them at lower prices than, like Safeway". Perhaps, and if that's what you've found true, go for it. For myself, I find quality so-so and prices perhaps lower, but just. The other issue for me is that shoppers here are akin to Whole-paycheckers... true believers of a kind. Somehow, yet again, they are saving the world from disaster, environmental poisoning or the like. All this comes by way of an activist lifestyle, prudent habits and... cheaper food? This mindset, or at least the one I perceive here, is naive albeit harmless; in any case I never argue matters that concern anyone's beliefs. If you still harbor some these days I envy you, consider yourself fortunate. Whatever the case may be, there's a downside in the TJ scene for me, traffic congestion in the parking lot being the least of it. It's the self-righteousness of do-gooding, birkenstocking, virtue signaling, fauxkindness pervading the air unavoidably/undeniably, like the stench of raw patchouli oil. Spare me, please, i'm off to safeway. I have been to Trader Joe's for the last time. read more

This happens to be the second closest Trader Joe's to me and the bonus at this location is the ample parking lot for this shopping center, which is also home to Cost Plus World market, BevMo, a taco stand and a vitamin store I believe. It also happens to be a busy Trader Joes I have found they can be out of an item whereas the location closest to my home is still in stock, so it's a very frequented location. Luckily it's also a spacious location and there's room to get around with your cart. I definitely rate this Trader Joes with five stars because of the multiple shop access making it a one stop model of efficiency. read more

2020 and back to making protein meal prep for lunch! TJ's is my almost one stop shop for everything I need. My latest stop featured chicken drumsticks, frozen boneless chicken thighs, mixed greens, spicy hummus, broccolini, brussel sprouts, ground turkey, bananas, mini avocados, tomatoes, black beans, turkey meatballs, , and a dozen large $1.99 eggs. Add the Chili Lime Seasoning and a bottle of EVO. $50 total and I make at least 12 different meals! I'm patting TJ on the back for making my lunches healthy and easy. Lost 10 lbs this month! Wow, what horrible people.I went to the desk to order 4 cases of wine as I do in Napa, and I was told to stand in line.I said there was no line, he said that line and was pointing to checkout.I said we do not order that way in Napa and why this was different. He got upset with me and ordered me to stand in line.I swore at him for his rudeness. He said get out of the store now.I ignored him and bought some wine. Never have I had treatment like this and I mean never. He should be sent to Napa for training or fired. Yes, I should not have sworn at him but he was borderline violent and very aggressive.I will only shop in Napa and never again at that store. read more

Cashier named Cameron at the express line told the customer ahead of us that he was in the Navy or something and before he had his sea legs he would throw up 4x a day over the edge and it was so funny to me and my friend we were laughing and the woman he was telling about it was so happy to hear his story. really brought a smile to everyones face. promote him to general manager if he wants. read more

It's often harder to consider reviewing businesses that I frequent so often that I've forgotten they're not part of everyone's weekly routine. I've also tended to review locally owned and small businesses, more often than chains. That being said, I love Trader Joe's. I worked for the company in 2016-7, but that doesn't always bias someone toward a business. It certainly hasn't always been the case for me. Specific to the Greenbrae location, not only is it the one closest to my home, but it's become a place I look forward to visiting. Compared to other locations (San Rafael comes to mind) the parking lot is relatively easy to navigate. Stephanie has helped coordinate donations for the California Coastal Clean-Up annual event that I've been donation coordinator of for years and they've always donated a generous gift bag that's been greatly appreciated by our volunteers. She's become someone who feels more like a friend who welcomes me and checks in, than another considerate crew member. The last few years, we've all gained extra appreciation for grocery store employees and I was heartened to hear the store seemed to do a good job of providing PPE to the crew. Ryan the manager is amazing!!! Today a man who had a large dog in the that wasn't a service animal was being very rude. I allergic to dogs and cats( unfortunately because I LOVE animals) but I asked him to keep he's dog out of my crotch and he became unstable and started cussing at me. I stayed calm and politely asked the old man to please stop and calm down. The man with the dog began yelling "f you!! I'll sue this place in federal court - f you, f you !"" Ryan stepped in and was awesome calming the situation down and asking him to never come back if this is how he is going to act. I applaud the calm professional manner in which Ryan acted. Very very busy and small TJs. I hate shopping here because the customers are all in a rush and get so close to you. I came with my 6m old to buy just a few things. But I was practically pushed aside and people running over me. It was also very low in stock of a lot of items. The shelves were empty. But the cashier was super friendly!! TJ's is my one-stop shop for Holiday Party planning. I recently hosted a 30-person holiday soiree at my home. And I pretty much decorated/catered the whole thing for under 80 bucks. No joke. You can get poinsettias in all colors for $5.99 each. You can get a fresh wreath for 10 bucks and other festive decor. As for food, you can't go wrong with all of TJ's great deals on cheese, crackers, charcuterie, cookies, and frozen hors d'oeuvres. Each dish was easy to prepare and no more than 5 or 6 bucks. Last but not least, TJ's has some amazing deals on booze. I can get a handle of quality vodka for $6, premium tequila for $12, and lots of drinkable wine for under 10 bucks. Plus, they have a wide array of mixers to pair with your spirits. Long story short, my Trader Joe's catered/decorated party was a success. Guests loved all the bites (we barely had any leftovers, so clean-up was a cinch). The booze didn't cost me an arm-and-a-leg. And everyone had a wonderful time. No matter what holiday or occasion you're celebrating, put Trader Joe's on the top of your party planning list. read more

Love this place, my wife and I have been loving this location for about two years now but I am now more impressed than ever with the way they are dealing with the covid19 situation. They were working with a one in one out system, yes there was a line outside and we waited about 10 minutes to get in but it was so worth it, shelves were stocked and we didn't once feel like we had to split off and quickly grab what we could, it was a nice enough experience to keep everyone calm, it was especially great to see the staff disinfecting all carts and surfaces, they had markers at the checkout to enforce social distancing. Trader Joe's is a saving grace for my friends and family in Tiburon. A wonderful money-saving alternative to other nearby markets. I did my shopping here when it was my turn to cook the family dinner recently . It was only a 5-10 minute drive from Tiburon. I found an easy parking space. Entree? Bacon wrapped tenderloin in Malbec reduction. My recipe: Wrap a pork tenderloin in bacon, add it it to two tablespoons of hot olive oil in a skillet, brown on all sides. Remove and add the tenderloin to a shallow baking dish. Bake in oven for 20 minutes @ 350. De-glaze the skillet with one cup of Malbec wine, 1/2 cup razor thin sliced shallots, fresh thyme, green peppercorns, a pinch of salt and reduce to 1/4. Add a drizzle of honey, a table spoon of butter mashed with a teaspoon of flour, (potato starch for gluten free) (This is a French sauce method which adds gloss) simmer another five minutes while constantly stirring. Cut the tenderloin into slices and drizzle with two tablespoons of Malbec reduction per slice. Serve with mashed potatoes and steamed vegetables like artichokes. (my favorite) We had the Villa Palatina Trockenbeerenauslese (2006) for dessert. Similar to an ice wine. Everyone in my family cleaned their plates. Four stars. Thanks again Joe:-) read more

After shopping in Trader Joe's I came out to find my car battery was dead. It had been a bad day and on top of it I had left my phone at home. So I was feeling very helpless until I saw a Trader Joe"s employee ( Attila) walking towards me. He told me had jumper cables and would go inside and check with his manager to see if it was alright for him to drive his car around and give me a jump. Of course the manger gave the okay and Attila drove around and got my car started. Needless to say it made my day because of course I had somewhere I needed to be. Was in today at lunch time. No long lines, happy cashiers, a very clean and larger than the San Rafael store with great parking. Customers were thanking them for being here and visa versa. The larger aisles are definitely a plus, and a great variety of Paso Robles vineyard wines. Just wondering how getting out of the parking lot will be when it 101 is jammed up with afternoon commuter traffic and Redwood Hwy is used as a secondary road. Only time will tell.
