As a disabled person whose ability to get around a large store is extremely painful and exhausting, the continuation of the pick up and go program long after vaccinations became available for Covid is a blessing. If I still had young children, the idea of not having to deal with the hangry begging for impulse items would also make my life so much easier. I want to commend this store for its diligence. Safeway tends to vary drastically by location, and this one is no different. In Napa, there used to be one that was sketchy (but catastrophically damaged by the 2014 quake), and the "lifestyle" one that has improved. The Calistoga Road (Santa Rosa)&St. Helena ones are meh... but the Clearlake one out in the wilderness is fine, as is the one along the Russian River in Guerneville. When Safeway isn't competing with itself, they tend to up the quality, especially if they're the last major grocery store before reaching the Pacific. On the other hand, this Safeway has always tended to be sketchy&shady, with its proximity to Philomath making it a depressing spot. It's always been rundown. The staff&selection are meh. When Corvallis has plenty of grocery stores like Market of Choice, Winco, and Grocery Outlet, this one can be ruled out- unless you live close by&it's your best option. Or you're headed out of town&you're stocking up before hitting the coast. read more

I went to this Safeway a couple weeks ago and I was extremely impressed with the person who was working there. They seemed to be very short staffed. One single person, named James, was going back and forth from the sandwich station to the chicken station to the salad station. He was so positive and greeted everyone with a smile. If he is doing this every single day, I can't imagine why he is working here. I hope he is being compensated well for what he is doing. A worker like this is not easy to find, and I'm considering hiring him to my own company. I seriously need a worker like this. read more

Convenient location on Philomath Highway, this grocery store also features a gas station, pharmacy, and Starbucks. This location is a much cleaner and better version than its downtown counterpart. They recently did some renovations that didn't change a lot but has seemed to brighten the place up a bit. Also, the self checkout is a much appreciated option when trying to just pick up a couple of small items. read more

Safeway is the worst grocery store in this town. They have 3 (extremely unnecessary) locations and they have the worst customer service ever. There are never any employees anywhere, they always have 2 cashiers with 10 people in line, and everything is overpriced. I realized that I was going to be waiting for ten minutes for my three items and put all my shit back and left. It probably took me less time to go to winco, buy my stuff and write this review than waiting in that line would have. I officially boycott Safeway. It mirrors Albertsons in many ways. I shop here almost daily. Can definitely tell there is new management, many new employees. I have seen the manger yell at employees and vendors, no wonder the employee turn over is so high. read more

Yay! I love this Safeway! (And who loves grocery shopping? No one.) Brian & Jennifer are great! Pretty much all the staff is great -- especially the ones who stick it out for the long haul. Produce is decent, quality and price-wise. Meat is, you know, Safeway meat. Whatever -- it's the staff that makes this store a winner. Just had to write a review for the outstanding customer service I received from Adam the technician at the pharmacy. He went above and beyond to get my prescription transferred and kept me updated every step of the way. I also appreciated that they found an alternative method of getting my information when I wasn't available and processed my order same day. I highly recommend this pharmacy! read more

3.5 stars. This place is like any other Safeway, local produce & poultry/meats, good deals, friendly & hard-working staff but this is Oregon and they're still using plastic bags... okay people. I was going to assume they were going to bag my stuff in paper bags since that's what most of the Safeways I've gone to have been doing... Well I suppose not. I wasn't going to say anything but still, this safeway made a dent. The produce section wasn't very exciting to my disappointment. I thought they would have more fruits and assortment but they didn't. I wanted to buy apples but... there were only 2 kinds that I saw. Dude, Fred Meyer has better selection than that. Oy. I do have some pros though, it was clean, disinfecting wipes for the carts were plentiful, not so insanely crowded, freakin awesome deals on the beer selection! (Note: Oregon supermarkets only sell beer & wine, liquor is sold in Liquor stores that close at 7pm sharp). read more

Went here for fuel. Told attendant to give me $40 of premium. $40. Get a notification from CC company that a $125 charge was placed, and if i authorized this amount. Set the goddamn pump for $40, not $125, attendant. I asked for 40, not 125. I dont care if this was at the pump, or an internal policy, but get it fixed read more

This Safeway is nice and clean, but expensive. I went in this week to buy creamer and it was up by $1.00 and all of it was labeled gluten free. Overnight ... All the creamer is gluten free? I don't buy that concept and I am fine with gluten. When I asked the check out girl why it was all gluten free and up in price, she didn't know, of course. But she did coyly ask me "So ... You would rather have gluten?" Like it was a bad thing. It's not unless you have issues with it. And that wasn't the point. The point was why do they now sell only gluten free creamer and it's up by a buck as well! I left and went to Fed Myers and bought the exact same creamer, not gluten free, for $2 less. Forget Safeway. The young people sometimes don't know their place. read more

This store is so disappointing! I used to always shop there but their prices are rediculous! $6.99 for a 12 pack of Dr. Pepper plus $1.20 for the bottle return. $8.20 for a 12 pack. Seriously! The gas station in Philomath is cheaper then that. THANK GOD FOR THE DOLLAR GENERAL. Who actually is a lot cheaper!. Today i went to the Safeway deli and asked for a big piece of chicken breast and some mozzarella sticks, as soon as i got home to eat them which was literally 10 min. the mozzarella sticks where hard as a rock and my chicken, instead of the big breast I asked for was a tiny wing with hardly any meat on it. I then called them and spoke with the same girl that sold them to me and she said she did put a breast in for me, and i could bring the stuff back. First of all i live in Philomath and the last thing i want to do is drive back down there. Also people in the deli should know the difference between a wing and a breast! I was starving and didn't get to eat . I will not be going back!! read more

This is our "restaurant" of choice for Chinese. Pros: cheap, fast, love the sesame chicken and chow mein. Cons: the egg-rolls aren't great. As for the sandwiches, not good, especially for the price. Have only liked their beef tri-tip. read more

I have given this Safeway locations several attempts at trying to have quality customer service and am done with them. I stood in line for over 15 minutes waiting for food from the deli. They helped everyone else but me I am staining in line patiently waiting my turn and several people where asked first if they could be helped now keep in mind I am 6 feet tall and am hard to miss but some how everything else was more important including flirting with other customers which was occupying one of the employees while the others looked on and ignored me. The store itself is fine but they treat you with contempt when you return cans and bottles. They can ALWAYS take your deposit but my last three attempts to return cans, their machines are broken/down/full/ out of service and all you need to do is hang around about half an hour for help to reclaim another $1.25. If they cared about you they would deal with this problem Obviously they want can returners to go away so I guess I'll take my Thanksgiving & Christmas shopping where they treat me with respect. read more

There is such a thing as too much customer service. Safeway, please stop making your employees say "Hi" to me when I am avoiding eye-contact with them. Normally nice stores this one is poorly staffed. Safeway has operation instructions that force the staff to be the best in the industry for customer service (take you to item, use name if known, make eye contact) the price of goods is higher than some but rather standard for grocery. the store was clean. the shelves mostly stocked with few empty spaces but the staff here offered little in the way of good Safeway friendly customer service. They do have the gas station and thats loads of help when traveling to the coast. it offers a moderate price for fuel at a convenient location. read more

Though there isn't a specific category for gasoline, I'm from Coos Bay and SO thankful for this particular service! Myself and several of our local family and friends make it a point to drive the hour to save the most buying gasoline from someone who doesn't make it a point to consumer gouge... just because they can! I am doubting that the truck delivering fuel to this safeway doesn't drive right on down the coastline, where people are ruthlessly taking advantage of people in an already economically frustrating time! Coos Bay/North Bend gas gouging has to stop! If we convince the locals to make the drive... not only will Safeway continue to flourish (in Florence) but we'll all save around 40 cents per gallon on our gasoline. I know people who fill two tanks and drain one into a second vehicle. Is this REALLY necessary? For now... Safeway fuel has my vote for excellence on Oregon's coast. We'll keep driving as long as locals keep gouging. read more

the only reason i go to this store is the few awesome associates they have and how close they are to where i live, but that is no longer enough. you can not buy fresh fruit or vegetables that are already bagged because inevitably every time there will be rotten fruit in there ruining everything else not immediately used. their bakery have great displays of what you think you are buying just to get a birthday cake that would embarrass an amateur. and you can not turn a corner without one of their employees standing right in the way. when you alert management to an issue you may have had you will get the same old blank apologizes with no change. read more
