One of my favorite stores in the area. This Safeway is exceptionally clean, orderly, and always has what you need in stock. Employees are nice and helpful when help is needed. Pharmacy, bakery, sandwich shop, coinstar, and flower shop along more on site. Gas across the parking lot.. is a bit more pricey than other Safeways in the area fyi

The "chicken breast" I was sold at the chicken counter today. That's a whole lotta spine.

I bought a chicken breast from the chicken counter today and this is what I was given. The lady behind the counter looked at both sides when grabbing it and she carefully put it bone side down in the box, so I didn't even notice until I got it home. But she definitely saw what it was. It's 90% spine and bone. There's nothing even edible on this. Pretty shameful. I am hungry and asking myself what terrible sin I have committed to precipitate such karma as this.

In bakery, 15 year old had to have parent permission to get a cookie sample. Worker was condescending. Not happy.

In the rare occasions when I'm not able to find something I wanted, it's because it's something so obscure I wind up having to either ordering it online or making a trip to some hidden specialty store in the Bay Area to get it. I've been shopping here for a couple of years. There's another grocery store that's five minutes from my house, but I drive the 20 minutes to shop here because the overall experience is so much better. Today's trip really stood out to me because of a couple things... while I was at the deli waiting for the clerk to work on my order, at least three other employees came up to me and asked if I was being helped. I've been to other stores where I've stood at a counter for literally 5 minutes, watching employees going out of their way to not acknowledge me. That never happens here. Then I was really taken aback by how the peppers and mushrooms were displayed. The fact that whoever stocked these mushrooms took the time to turn every mushroom cap side up and arranged all the portobellos the way they are speaks to a dedication to quality work. You can tell that in this store, nobody half-asses anything, and the employees take pride in what they do.

Nugget Markets is basically the bougiest grocery store chain in the greater Sacramento area…read more All of the packaged deli foods perpetually look like they were chopped within the past thirty minutes, the bakery section looks like an actual high end European bakery, the floors are clean enough to eat off of, and the associates all seem happy with their jobs. This particular Nugget has a fairly large upstairs patio area with tables, chairs, restrooms, water bottle refilling station, microwave, etc. Lots of grocery stores in this area have a downstairs lounge area, but being upstairs (but still accessible via a ramp and elevators) gives it an extra edge. Plus you can't beat that view of the Mercedes dealership. The salad selection is some of the best I've seen anywhere, although they are very pricey at about $10/8oz (which is why I haven't actually tried one). I came here in search of some tampons that I couldn't find at Target, and was thrilled that this store carried small boxes of single sizes, versus the huge multipacks they had at Target. Thank you Nugget for doing a better job at procuring feminine health items than Target. As a bonus this store (like many others) is within walking distance of the wetland preserve.

The crunchiness mixed with the sauce perfectly. It had a sweet and sour flavor that I loved. There were a lot of different options to choose from too sushi, poke bowls, dumplings, salads, hot food, and more. Everything looked fresh and well put together. The deli area was clean, well-organized, and easy to browse. I was originally thinking about getting a poke bowl, but Roderick from the deli was telling me some of his favorite items and I ended up trying the sushi instead. Glad I did because it was delicious. The employees were all really nice and welcoming. Shout out to Roderick and Mary for making the experience enjoyable, and Teresa the supervisor was really kind as well. Only thing I noticed was I didn't see any soy sauce packets or wasabi out when I grabbed my sushi. Usually I see those available, so maybe they just ran out for the day. Not a huge deal, just something I noticed. Definitely coming back to try the poke bowls next time.

But they seem to listen to the constructive feedback and brought back certain good brands and items which are popular and price competitive though not necessarily "nutritional". So fast forward to present day, it seems like an average grocery store versus a health food version of the Raley's chain grocery store. The grocery store is clean, modern, and well organized. Staff are approachable and helpful. Points of interest: they have a pharmacy, floral counter, sandwich counter (you can order custom made sandwiches) , deli counter (order deli food or sliced cheese and deli meats), self serve salad and soup bar, coffee and smoothie bar, wine counter (which is open certain hours), and an indoor lounge area where you can sit a spell and eat your purchased food and drink items. The parking lot has two brands of EV chargers. Tesla and EV Go. The Tesla chargers are at the north end of the lot under shade trees.

I remember visiting Fork Lift like 10 years ago and really liking it - it is a sister store of Nugget Market I believe. The inside was massive, clean and well organized. My husband and I wanted to buy one of everything! Their produce section had every fruit and vegetable imaginable - it was also very visually aesthetically pleasing! I loved seeing their bulk spices, nuts, teas and candy options! Their butcher shop and fish section looked very fresh and can we talk about their massive cheese selections!? I was very impressed and they even had my favorite coffee for sale which is hard to find - the Blue Bottle Nola milk cartons. Brought to you by the family-owned, upscale and very successful, Nugget chain of grocery stores. I became very well acquainted with the Nugget markets living in Davis. There were two stores not far from each other and they were always packed. I shopped at the smaller one as it was closer to my home. It is literally the only place I ever shopped for food.I cannot imagine shopping anywhere else. When I moved to El Dorado Hills 5 years ago... thank goodness there was a big and beautiful Nugget a mile and half away. My point is all Nugget markets are quite incredible. Nothing compares to them. Excellent quality, in-house prepared food, bakery... TDF, floral, meat department, liquor, and fabulous fresh produce section. Fork Lift is to me like the Nugget markets on steroids! I was astonished at the size of the store and cool inside architectural design. Yes it is hip! Super clean, well stocked in everything. Organized. Quite impressive. And the same great departments as I mentioned above that are available in the Nugget stores are right here too! The chatter is that the Fork Lift offers many discounted prices but honestly, I never see them. Then I heard the lower priced items are strategically placed in and around the store. Who knows. I enjoy taking the drive up the hill to Cameron Park occasionally just to wander around and marvel at this shopping mecca! Easy exit off the freeway and fast to find. Plenty of parking. Worth checking out if you are in the area or on the way to or returning from Tahoe. Did I mention super duper customer service!?! And weekly specials! Geez... a girl cannot remember everything.:) Here is to good eating!

I've been to at least two dozen different Asian grocery stores across the Pacific Northwest, and this is one of the cleanest. I was so confused by this store's low Yelp rating that I had to go and read all the one star reviews, and I have to say, they're honestly all petty. One of them actually shows a picture of a perfectly okay apple with the caption "rotten apple." While it is a bit on the small side for a "supermarket," they seem to have all the normal staple items. Since my last review, they've started carrying kaffir lime leaves, and have added pre-packaged meals to their hot dim sum line. As of my last visit (April 2026), it was $14.99 for a self serve 2 item lunch combo with rice and/or chow mein.

I wanted to get some food at the hot deli, cause I remember them having some really good food for not that much money. I get here around 11 am mid week. I wanted to check out the bakery as well and maybe get some custard pies I remember them having. The selections at the deli were missing quite a few items and the food didn't look that fresh. The prices sure went up too. To fill a regular clam shell box was like $15 now! I wanted some of those deep fried smelts, but they said that was only on the weekends. There weren't any fried chicken drumstick deals either like before. They did have wings though, so I got some of those stuffed into my box, along with some short cut spareribs and a little fried rice. lot of empty trays at the deli. Tasting the box of food, it really wasn't that good either, not like before. I was disappointed. The BBQ pork bun selection was not much, just the steamed ones and no baked ones. I did get some roast duck since I was there. I had them cut it up and put it in two boxes. Over at the bakery, I did see these Portuguese Egg Tarts, they looked similar to the Chinese egg tarts, but more browned on top. They came in a box and I was told they just baked them today. I got one box. I'll say, this 99 Ranch location is much smaller than most of the other locations and the selection at the deli is smaller too, I guess they just don't get the foot traffic like the Bay Area or Sacramento proper. If you near one of the other locations, I'd go there. Not as much selection here.
