This is the posted deal all over Safeway they didn't honor note there is no start date

Safeway had posted a deal to buy chips mix and match at 1.99 when you buy five when we reviewed our receipt the chips cost more than twice as much when we asked, they gave multiple reasons as to why we didn't get the deal . First reason not the right mix not true next reason was the price takes effect tomorrow yet the prices were posted every where in the store. Safeway does this all the time watch your recites we catch them all the time . We returned the chips when they didn't honor their posted price. They hope were all too stupid to check the receipt i bet a lot of people payed twice as much for their chips as they thought. Please stop trying to rip people off!

Friday (8/27) deal sushi with a smart water all for $5! (Simple spicy California roll for my son)

Loving my local Safeway! The have the very best flowers, and cakes and of course all your essential needs and more! Staff is super friendly and store is super clean!

This store is a pleasant trip anytime one needs to get groceries. They stock during the night, which is nice as you don't get disrupted during your shopping trip. I came in to return some cough drops that I bought at another Safeway, no receipt or Safeway account. Danielle helped me out and exchanged them for another type of cough drop with no trouble. Minus a star because the gas station seems to have many pumps out frequently and also runs out of gas completely about once a month. This Safeway also is missing many goods and amenities others have. Coinstar is non functional as of today 12/13/23

Be prepared to wait in a long line and no one to ever bag your groceries. The one on Francisco has better service.

The customer service is just consistently good, and it makes the whole shopping experience feel different. I also want to give a specific shoutout to Theo. I think he was hired pretty recently, but he's already one of my favorite people there. He has this hilarious, old-timey sense of humor that makes checking out way more fun than it has any right to be. Not curmudgeonly at all. Just quirky, dry, and genuinely funny. I find myself going to his line whenever I see him because I know I'm going to leave laughing. More people should talk about how great the staff is here. Theo is awesome, and he's a perfect example of why I keep coming back.

In the rare occasions when I'm not able to find something I wanted, it's because it's something so obscure I wind up having to either ordering it online or making a trip to some hidden specialty store in the Bay Area to get it. I've been shopping here for a couple of years. There's another grocery store that's five minutes from my house, but I drive the 20 minutes to shop here because the overall experience is so much better. Today's trip really stood out to me because of a couple things... while I was at the deli waiting for the clerk to work on my order, at least three other employees came up to me and asked if I was being helped. I've been to other stores where I've stood at a counter for literally 5 minutes, watching employees going out of their way to not acknowledge me. That never happens here. Then I was really taken aback by how the peppers and mushrooms were displayed. The fact that whoever stocked these mushrooms took the time to turn every mushroom cap side up and arranged all the portobellos the way they are speaks to a dedication to quality work. You can tell that in this store, nobody half-asses anything, and the employees take pride in what they do.

In fact, I've had a number of unpleasant and or disappointing experiences at this store. Namely, the miserable nature of the staff makes the experience memorable. Everyone is in automatic mode, oblivious to the customer service nature of their positions dealing with the public. People seem to genuinely hate working here, with a passion. If you ask for help, staff seem annoyed or are genuinely unhelpful and have no idea where the items are on the racks. Zero intention to learn the store or know the products or layout. If you step into line, there's no greeting, just a transactional attitude and an air of annoyance that you inconvenienced them with your presence. Once, I forgot a jug of water on the bottom of the basket and was met with an almost confrontational assumption that I was trying to pull a fast one. As if I couldn't afford a distilled jug of water for another dollar after spending $400+ on groceries. In addition, they hire incompetent baggers. I get offering work to those with disabilities, and I commend that. Where I have to draw the line is when they hire someone with no capacity to learn proper bagging techniques and assign them as baggers. I spend a ton on overpriced food item then get home to find the bread under heavy canned items, smashed, or the chips crushed to bits, or the eggs cracked due to incompetence in bagging. When I worked in the grocery industry, we had strict training agendas with a focus on customer service and proper bagging techniques. Preventing cross contamination with raw meats and vegetables, balancing weight, engaging in small talk, greeting every customer. I suppose that era is long over? Is there no training in place now, or is the training just a massive corporate failure? Today, I came in for two items. At the deli, I waited six minutes to be acknowledged whilst three people were troubleshooting a register, completely oblivious to a customer being at the counter. No one even looked up or bothered to greet me. Very typical at this location. In line, I waited patiently for my turn and the checker literally acted like I didn't exist. She didn't greet me nor even acknowledge me. It's as if she saw through me and I was invisible. If you enjoy curt transactions with annoyed staff, over priced items, and over stimulation from dodging people and objects blocking aisles, look no further! This location is your sanctuary!

After scanning my return code, was instructed to place my item in one of the provided plastic bags. Only my item did not fit inside of the bag. Do I just slap a label on the item without the bag? Hmm. None of the FAQ applied to my situation. ie, Item too large for Dropbox? Nope, it will fit inside of that just fine. Too many items to fit inside bag? Try separating them into individual bags. Nope. Only had one item to place in the bag. Sooo. Since it was none of the above, I pressed the get help button. Mainly to see if I was just supposed to forgo the plastic bag part. The kiosk instructed me to wait for an associate and the red light came on. No one came over to help. Had to extend the time on the kiosk 2x. Finally, a RUDE worker came over to let me know that his "preference" was for me to go to the service counter. No apologies for the long wait or lack of signage or instructions to go to the desk. There was no signage stating that employees prefer customers to come to the desk instead of waiting at the kiosk. As a first-time customer, I followed the kiosk's instructions, which told me to wait for an associate. When one finally came over, I was rudely told it was their preference that I come to the desk instead. If that's the preferred process, there should be clear signage or the kiosk should say so. I can tell you what my preference is: clear instructions for customers and courteous service. My preference is also to never return here again.

I wanted to get some food at the hot deli, cause I remember them having some really good food for not that much money. I get here around 11 am mid week. I wanted to check out the bakery as well and maybe get some custard pies I remember them having. The selections at the deli were missing quite a few items and the food didn't look that fresh. The prices sure went up too. To fill a regular clam shell box was like $15 now! I wanted some of those deep fried smelts, but they said that was only on the weekends. There weren't any fried chicken drumstick deals either like before. They did have wings though, so I got some of those stuffed into my box, along with some short cut spareribs and a little fried rice. lot of empty trays at the deli. Tasting the box of food, it really wasn't that good either, not like before. I was disappointed. The BBQ pork bun selection was not much, just the steamed ones and no baked ones. I did get some roast duck since I was there. I had them cut it up and put it in two boxes. Over at the bakery, I did see these Portuguese Egg Tarts, they looked similar to the Chinese egg tarts, but more browned on top. They came in a box and I was told they just baked them today. I got one box. I'll say, this 99 Ranch location is much smaller than most of the other locations and the selection at the deli is smaller too, I guess they just don't get the foot traffic like the Bay Area or Sacramento proper. If you near one of the other locations, I'd go there. Not as much selection here.
