I have been going to this gas station for almost 2 1/2 years pumping my gas. The employee that opens (female) a few weeks ago that it's against the law for me to sit in my car while pumping my gas. I'm almost 60 and never heard of that. Plus, others sit in their cars and she hasn't harassed them. I told her that I was not aware of any law. I told her that I have a disability where standing causes issues for me at times. She dismissed that by saying, "Well you can't sit in your car!" I checked their signs she was referring to to see if they posted any Washington State codes that states it's the law. The attached is what she was referring to Today, I was pumping my gas and she came to my car window that was up speaking loudly at me. I was on a call & kept telling her I was on a call. She ignored that although she saw the phone up to my ear and repeatedly told her I was on a call!!! She continued badgering me in a forceful, very demanding tone. I asked her the law & where is it posted. She said it says so here then pointed to the attached picture that doesn't say "you can't sit in your car while pumping". And, it has nothing to do with "you can't sit in your car while pumping". It says static electricity can ignite the gasoline. Something that that would apply to someone standing at their pump on their cell phones or other devices. It also is saying if you are filling up a container, it needs to be at ground level. Nowhere on this sign does it say you cannot sit in your car while pumping so she's badgered & harassed me based on that sign ONLY! The constant badgering and her yelling at me became overwhelming and stressful. I told her repeatedly to stop harassing me and to stop talking to me. She then said she was going over to turn off my pump and proceeded to do so. I immediately told her if she touches my pump I will call the police and file harassment and a lawsuit against her and Safeway. Her demeanor escalated and she became worse. I explain to her when someone says to stop speaking to me and stop badgering and stop harassing, by law they are supposed to follow that and take heed! She tried to play the victim saying she feels harassed. I asked Harrell and she said because I said I was calling an attorney against her. Clearly playing the victim because it has nothing to do with harassment. Classic case of deflecting the situation. Her behavior WAS harassing! Her behavior WAS badgering! She WAS verbally attacking me! VERY aggressive; especially attempting to stop my gas pumping that I paid for! This is NOT how you should treat a customer despite the situation! She is clearly setting standards for me and not all of the other customers and I have pictures of them sitting in their car during her shift! I am totally baffled and feel very uncomfortable and not safe around her! read more

I added some photos recently to highlight another problem while buying gas. Yelp removed them because it wasn't clear I was a customer. My review is quite detailed. The new photos were taken from a gas pump. I guess that's not good enough for Yelp. Very trigger happy lately with the delete button. People aren't going to use a biased platform. read more

While doing a road trip through the PNW visiting friends, I stopped in here yesterday afternoon to refuel using a Safeway $100 gift certificate that I had received for Xmas from my Sister in VA - Since it was a printout and not a card, I went into the booth to pay... ...except the door that faces the pumps was blocked by a big bored bearded guy with glasses looking at me blankly from inside, pointing to something on the left. I had no idea what he was pointing to or why - then I realized he wanted me to use another entrance over around the side. Dumb layout - a printed sign on the door would have been helpful. Ask enter, I get a "Sorry about that" - Uh, Okay. Then I hand him my gift certificate explaining that I wanted to use it to pay for my fuel. He looked at it and said "I don't feel comfortable using this instead of the card". I explained that I didnt receive a card, which is why I have the printout which clearly has barcodes to scan which he can use to verify the value. Then he asked how much I wanted to spend on it - I said I didn't know because I needed to fill the tank. He then said that he didn't know how to use it - should it be put in as cash or a charge? At this point I realized he just didn't want to do any actual work, so I took my certificate from his hands and told him that I would purchase my fuel elsewhere. I was so happy when this Safeway gas station opened. It's right on my way in and out of West Seattle. There's always a line but that's because everyone is trying to save anywhere from $.03 to $.10 off their gas by using their Safeway Club Card. When all I need is gas this is where I go. They always have gas and their window squeegee and water is always clean and ready to use. Just the other day this Safeway gas station started selling biodiesel fuel the first step in a test-marketing campaign that could spread the alternative fuel to more of the company's stores. The Safeway gas station always has the cheapest gas in West Seattle. I don't think I have seen any other gas stations in the area for cheaper. When you spend so much on groceries each month, you also get an extra .10 cents off! Gas may be a bit expensive now, but this can save you money each trip. read more

Average prices for the area, but very convenient since it is located off CA / Admiral. They carry pure diesel, not the 5% biodiesel mix that can be harmful to some cars. Gas Rewards are easy to use here. Will def return. read more

Here's the deal. You pay debit outside, they hold $100 plus on your account until at some point they decide to figure out how much you actually charged. In 2018, when I can deposit a check with my phone, Safeway's buddy US Bank can't figure out how much I spent at the pump. My credit union can't do anything, Safeway can't do anything, the gas station doesn't answer the phone. My money is theirs until they decide to release it. Sloppy banking and terrible customer service. Buy your gas at 76. Never had a problem there and the prices and quality are competitive--not hard to compete with the treatment by Safeway Fuel and their "wonderful" financial partner. read more

You'd think that Safeway would provide the discount gas option in West Seattle, but their prices are typically about 25-30 cents higher than Costco's price per gallon. That means that if you fill up on the average of 15 gallons in your compact passenger car, you'd be paying about $3.75-$4.50 more per fill. If you fill up weekly, that's almost $200-$230 a year more than what you have to pay. Is that worth the convenience? You be the judge. I just fill up on my weekly jaunts to the Costco on 4th. I generally don't like businesses that decide to charge what the market can bear, just because they can do it. I like the model where the business offers an attractive price, just to garner more customers. Like Safeway's grocery items, price is not an important factor to the company.
