Why is everyone out of cremini mushrooms?!?! You can get the white mushrooms, no problem. You can get portobello mushrooms, no problem. But creminis?? It's at the point I have a hard time sourcing fresh ones even though they are all the exact same mushroom, it's all about the grow time. This Safeway has basically become my cremini store. They don't always have them, but they are much more likely to than a lot of the other stores...and they're actually fresh! As for everything else in the store? It's a Safeway, you've been to at least one before, surely. This location is overall quite clean and I have no complaints about that. Signup for the club card if you want the sales price on the shelf. This location has a strange layout and I get a bit lost here and there...which I'm sure they do on purpose because like many other people, I love me some impulse snackage. Self checkout has 1 line for 5 (?) machines which help things move smoothly. The times I've needed an attendant to step in have all been pleasant. The biggest thing I've noticed recently: take note of the prices! Of the things I buy regularly some of them went from Safeway being the cheapest to now being double (literally) the price than other grocery stores!!! read more

Here we go again! Leaving the store and the guy insists on searching my bag when I saw him only check others receipt. I say something to him and of course he gives the line of "well we all should be doing it and I'm the only one doing it" which again is BS because I've seen him not search everyone's bag he just seems to only always enforce that rule on my black ass. So I ask to speak with a manager and of course 8:30 am on a Sunday morning and there's no manager on site. Thankfully the nice produce manager gentleman tried to offer some assistance. safeway bakery 20830 108th AVE SE Kent WA I ordered a full-sheet bespoke cake with a frozen theme on January 4th for my daughter's birthday. She enjoys watching frozen movies whenever she can and loves Elsa. Her birthday was set for January 18 and many friends and families were invited. The frozen motif served as the basis for every purchase. This, however, is what occurred on January 18. In the morning, Safeway Bakery called to inform me that they were unable to fulfill our request for a custom cake. I questioned them how they could say that and why. That day's evening is when I have the event. They claimed that the order taker was inexperienced and that they had neglected to verify the timetable. They stated they could create a different flavor if I needed it and gave me two choices: Marvel or white chocolate. I can select any of these options, they stated, or they will have to cancel the order. I advised them to consider and weigh their options for thirty minutes. I called a few different bakers, but none of them were taking orders for custom cakes with themes. Anywhere, a bespoke cake order must be placed at least 24 hours in advance. I phoned Safeway again and instructed them to use one of the options offered to prepare the cake when I couldn't find another one. However, I was shocked to see the cake there when I went to pick it up in the evening, one hour before the celebration began. The cake was in really poor condition. damaged edges, poorly finished, and cracked in the middle. I've included the images here. I was completely insane. At the time, the bakery was closed, so I was with customer service to see what was wrong. A customer support representative stated that there was nothing he could do. At the time, my sole choice was to select the cakes that were on display over the counter. Since the size was insufficient for what I needed, I chose two different cakes. They simply accepted the price of one cake as their only action. My daughter's birthday celebration was utterly destroyed by them. My daughter had a lot to say. Despite her tears, I managed to persuade her to join in the celebration. For me, it was an unforgettable experience, and I am really unhappy with Safeway's response. People's emotions and sentiments are of little concern to them. They don't take responsibility. read more

I had order the meat for Christmas dinner a week earlier to be picked up on a set date. I arrive to pick it up on the set date, and the butcher says there isnt any at all, and tells me sorry to bad. So then I go to the store manager and as I'm talking to them, the butcher shows up with the meat in a bigger size and priced way more than the one I had ordered. They wouldn't give a discount for getting my order wrong and they "corrected" the problem by giving me something bigger and more expensive then I had ordered that I still had to pay for or I don't get anything at all. We ordered flowers for Mother's Day and instead of the florist asking what we wanted and creating a bouquet like any other florist, we had to go pick our own flowers from the floor selection. We chose and paid for a premade bouquet and added two additional roses to be added for pickup the next day. When we picked up the flowers, it was still the original bouquet and the extra flowers we paid for were nowhere to be seen...and neither was the florist. We didn't have time to deal with it but we're never using this florist again. read more

The pharmacy staff is really good at making my blood pressure skyrocket in brand new ways. They've fumbled / dropped the ball while filling urgent prescriptions so many times and each time there is no apology and I get to hear a variation of a feeble excuse such as: "it's the new year so things get messed up. I can look into it if you want?," "we don't know what's going on so can you call us back later," and my favorite "my computer doesn't work so can you call us back later." At this point it is my own fault for using this location more than 2 times. If you have any pressing medical issues, my advice for you is to pretend this pharmacy isn't a pharmacy and try some other place farther away. Which is real dumb if you think about it. I don't want a non-pharmacy in my neighborhood. At least be something. Like a tiny aquarium or a dive bar might be equally useless in treating patients but at least it adds some sort of value to the community. In conclusion this place makes me very sad. read more

There's not a single section in this Safeway that has competent staff. The pharmacy is extremely slow which causes the long lines. The deli seems to have enough people but still work either slowly or don't pay attention to their customers when they need something. read more

Absolute garbage customer service in the last year- two years at least. Most recently at self checkout (now the only option due to lack of staff so no check lines open) when checking out items and items aren't ringing up as priced on the shelf, the self checkout attendant does not make any effort to have a floor associate to double check the price for price override forcing me to make the choice between overpaying for an item that I needed that is clearly not ringing up as the price marked, or to leave the item and inconvenience myself to go to different stores to get said items. This is my closest location to home but I constantly find myself driving further out in the opposite direction to the Fairwood location just to get the items I need at the price I expect, along with getting decent customer service which is impossible to get at this Kent location. read more

It's bad enough most customers have to check themselves out at the grocery now because they always only have 1 person with an open lane, but it takes forever to self checkout here. It can be several minutes waiting for a staff member if you need them, and if there is one, they are completely aloof. This review is only of the deli. We went yesterday, and neither of the employees were wearing gloves. We definitely watched the dude serve up some macaroni salad, the salad touching his hands, and him wipe it off back into the container. The woman, who also wasn't wearing gloves. Was wearing a hair net, that just happened to not be covering any of her hair except for part of her ponytail. The top of her head wasn't covered, and neither were her bangs. This location stole $45 from me today. I placed an order online for pickup today. Paid the total of $45.15 when I placed the order and was charged immediately. I had zero substitutions on my order so my order total should have remained $45.15. After my order was completed they tried to charge me an additional $7 for what reason they can't explain. I had already locked my card so it declined. They then sent me an email saying that I need to update my payment to pay the additional $7. So I called the store thinking there is of course some kind of mistake and talked to a completely unhelpful and rude employee named Aaron. He looked at my order and agreed that there was no reason I should have been charged any additional amount but that he has no clue why it happened and can't fix it. He says that I will just have to pay the additional $7 if I want my order. Um no. I'm not doing that. So I say let's just the cancel the whole order then and refund my $45.15 that I already paid. He says he has no way of doing that because technically the system says I still owe $7 so he can't issue me a refund. Um what???!! I just paid you $45.15 for an order you won't give me. How can you not refund me for that??! It makes no sense. He just kept saying he's new and has no idea how any thing works. Really not acceptable. This Safeway Continues to totally amaze me, Store #1294 in Kent Wa on Washington Ave. The reason I keep going back is that it's the closest store 2 me and Safeway is the only grocery store in my area that sells certain items. On March 24th, I went into the store for a few items and decided to also pick-up the Chicken Tenders on the $5 Friday special. This item is advertised in the Flyer and has a $5 advertisement on the hot display. $5 for a pound. The Deli was out of the tenders, so I went ahead did my shopping and went back towards the end to get the tenders. I told the lady that I wanted wa pound of the chicken tenders, the $5 Friday special, I also told her if it was little over, that's fine. Here's where things turn to the dark side. At the register (here you have to pay at deli for deli food), she rings me up, I put my number in and it comes up for $9.99. I mentioned the Friday sale and she tells me that it is only on Monday's. I show both the add and the counter top display and she starts to argue me, that is not correct, and she make several comments in Spanish to another lady, they didn't think I knew what was being said. This happened at around 2:30 in the afternoon, and instead of arguing and fighting with them for about $5, I turned and left and went to check out, streaming. The self-check cashier could clearly see I was clearly upset about something going on and stayed away from me until the end. At the end, I took and threw pretty much everything into the basket, damaging most of my produce, which is my fault. Really it was pretty much my fault for even going back in this Safeway, but sometimes I have but no choice,because of location and certain items they only carry. The Safeway pharmacy at 108th & 208th charges (a lot more) than the Good Rx prices. If you have the Good Rx app. Always open it to see the price! If you show them the price on the app they will honor the price (sometimes) other times they will say "will, this is our price". This needs to be addressed at the highest level. Been happening for 3 years that I am aware of. When I asked "why is Safeway trying to rip the customer off"? The reply was "why is Good Rx trying to rip Safeway off". I just bought their deli sushi and the rice was SO OLD it was hard and stale honestly it had been sitting out for at least A WEEK!! I bit it and couldn't even bite it it was so hard like don't have food out that's obviously bad and the deli guys just stood there as I grabbed it like you guys should do something productive with your time and make sure you aren't RE-TAGGING old food. I've been coming to this Safeway for years. It's convenient and right by my house. It's not always the cleanest or the most stocked etc but it has what I need. Today there was one cashier, Mama. LOVE HER! I decided to take my items to self checkout since it's busy. I had two ground beef with a 30%coupon, it's easy to scan but it needs an employee to scan their badge. Danny helped me with both items. I keep scanning and I wanted to void 2 items since it was placed in the wrong spot (in clearance) which I understand. It happens all the time. I click void and the item- all Danny has to do it scan his badge. He comes up "WHAT NOW?" I politely asked "are you having a bad day Danny?" He ignores me. He doesn't even void my two items, he said I'm good to go. But since I didn't want his bad attitude and customer service near me I paid for all my items and went in line to get it refunded. Of course he makes his way to customer service. He ignores me so instead I ask a nice young lady by self check out and she refunded me for my two items and apologized. I stopped at this location on my way home thinking it would be quick & easy & save me time. 20 min down the road I get a call saying that they forgot half my order. So I had to come back. After a ridiculous phone conversation with Kylie, saying she got all my items & im not missing anything, I walk into the store myself to get my missing items. This is the worst Safeway I've been too. Cameras literally everywhere and the employees here are morons. I refuse to shop at this location! There's usually homeless people that will follow you around begging for money or to have you buy them food. And the parking lot is always littered with garbage and grocery carts. Parking sucks most of the time except early mornings or late at night. Thankfully I live in Bridal Trails Kirkland. Only had to stop here a few times when heading to my friends house in Kent. This store is hit and miss. I find that the staff and clerks are almost always pleasant and nice. However, there are sometimes lacking in the quantity of checkers. I used to come right near the end of my work day and the lines were terrible, not sure if the staffing situation was bad, but it seems there aren't that many checking at the busiest times. Pharmacists here treat patient with pain prescriptions like criminals, and the pharmacist shared my wife's medical information with the Safeway manager who the pharmacist does not work for and had no business looking directly through my wife's prescription information. Each and every month has been a fight with these pharmacists and she ALWAYS got her Rx until this last month when I went in and complained to the Safeway manager and got NOWHERE. So this month they are refusing to fill her prescription again on the day it's due, even after the doctor called and corrected the pharmacist, who now says my wife needs to find another pharmacy because "they've had too much trouble with HER" (when the FACT is that the PHARMACISTS have had to admit they were wrong and fill her Rx each and every month for over FIVE YEARS. She has not switched pharmacies (or doctors) because THAT makes it look like she's pharmacy (or doctor) hunting. I HAVE reported the pharmacist and this Safeway for a HIPPA violation and have pictures of the Safeway manager looking over the pharmacist's shoulder at my wife's records for over 20 minutes. I complained to this SAME Safeway manager over a year ago about a different pharmacist and she admitted they had many complaints about him. THIS time, I was told by her boss that they were going to "do an investigation" which I am sure was a LIE. read more

I'm a regular at this Safeway location, I've been coming for the last 2 years.I get a Deli sandwich everyday. The deli manager Michelle is an incredible human being and employee. Not only does she provide a 5 star customer service but she makes every customer feel welcome and listen to while at her Deli. The best deli team I've ever seen. I want to rate this location better as I've gone here for years but, I just can't. They never have enough checkers for the amount of traffic going I to the store. What should be a quick "in and out" takes 30 minutes in the store. Today, I had to pick up an prescription for my wife. I called ahead to ask how long and was told 15-20. I'd really like to know why this store felt it would be beneficial to hire an "undercover" security guard. The point of a security guard is that they serve as a theft deterrent. An "undercover" security guard doesn't do that. Tonight, a guy in plain clothes assaulted a young homeless woman who had allegedly tried to steal a can of infant formula. He forcefully grabbed her and they both started shouting. Several concerned customers stepped in to try to separate them and nearly started an outright brawl. The person, who was apparently hired by Safeway, continued to grab and shove the young woman without announcing himself as security. I was dialing 9-1-1 when an employee explained that the man worked there. I have been going to this Safeway for over 20 years. The new management seems to be more interested in profits than customer service. They usually only have 3 clerks working the check out stands after 5:00, which is 3 less than they need. Because of this, myself and thousands of other customers must wait for up to 20 minutes in line. Who is putting their bottom line above customer service??? Initially, I thought this was one of the nicer Safeways. However, after my encounter with a Grocery MANAGER named, Ryan's little attitude, I am thinking differently. He was extremely rude, and even a bit accusational (is that a word?), when I wanted to return something. He muttered, "What's wrong with it?", with an attitude, as if I took time to bring something back for no reason. Being that you are the GROCERY MANAGER, some sort of apology should have been uttered. He walked away and dismissed me, and said nothing, even after I expressed my displeasure. Safeway, realllly needs to work on the Customer Service of their little pissy employees. It's bad enough, I have to trip around them restocking, while im shopping. Ya wanna restock shelves? do it overnight. start earlier. Extremely annoying running from cranes, crates, and shit while trying to shop. Not everyone shops between 10am-7pm or whatever. There are ALWAYS long lines at this store it's ridiculous! The express line is rarely open. The checkers are slow and there is never enough of them so the lines are always long and slow. They are never concerned if there are long lines, no new checkers ever come up to help no matter now long of lines there are. Double check expiration dates on your food, they sell expired food there all the time! If you have a lot of time to stand in long lines, then this place is the store for you. read more
