Did I travel back in time or just visit "that" Safeway in Loveland? Unfortunately, it's the second option. I don't know what year the store was last decorated, but it reminds me of the 90s or early 2000s (at best). The signs literally made me laugh at how old they were, from the department signs to the aisles. The aisles contained things like "WEIGHT CONTROL" and "INCONTINENTS" (spelling) and many spots were missing. All of the fonts and artistic style screamed outdated. The cabinets and walls at customer service and the bakery are also very old. If the old was clean and well kept, that would be different, but throughout the store there was visible floor damage, scratches, and lots of weird large empty spaces on the floor. There was a limited selection of many popular healthy items such as gluten free, vegetarian, vegan which can be found in large quantities in other stores - a miss for those with any food allergies! I was going to pick up some ice cream, but the entirety of the freezer area seemed broken - there was a good half an inch or so of ice covering every item. One set of entry doors seems permanently closed, and the signs appear to be from 2020. The parking lot is in bad shape. The checker was kind, but wow - I'm kind of in shock that the store is allowed to operate under the Safeway brand with this condition. read more

I live within walking distance from this location. Once you get into the parking lot, and you notice that there are not many cars here. There's a reason - it's weird. People stare at you for too long. Inside is very outdated and kind of dirty/broken down. Wouldn't shop here for produce - only packaged/frozen goods that I have ***checked the expiration dates on***. Homeless people loitering all day, sleeping on the ground outside. I'm much more comfortable going the extra three minutes up the road to King's. read more

I went to buy a drink that was listed as three for four dollars. I asked the cashier if I had to buy three to get the sale price and she said yes. The single item then rang up at the sale price. If you don't know something just say that you don't know instead of giving wrong information. read more

Worst produce I've ever seen in a grocery store. Every pepper and apple was wrinkly and soft, the tomatoes were rotten, the potatoes all had black spots, and I couldn't find a single yellow or sweet onion that wasn't on the verge of being rotten... and the variety was already severely lacking. The store has numerous homeless people sitting outside on the sidewalk. I have to say the most outrageous part is how overpriced everything is! I'm from the North East and I love Giant (which ironically is owned by Safeway) so when I moved to Colorado I was happy to see they had Safeway grocery stores... boy was I disappointed! The cashiers are always friendly and quick. The store is clean, and the few times I have had concerns, management has always been helpful. It's currently my favorite place to shop because their fruits and veggies are always much fresher than king soopers. They also have great deals on meat most weeks. read more

Absolutely 1000% disappointed. Yes it's New Years Eve and I understand you want to go home. But hours of operation says till 11pm. I show up at 10:40 needing emergency baby food since I dropped our last jar on the floor and it shattered. Someone at the door was like sorry. I needed two things of baby food for our 6 month old. I tried calling to explain of course no answer. I hope to everyone that closes tonight never needs anything on emergency like that ever. I'm absolutely disgusted with this Safeway and the closing shift employees tonight. Hope you do better next year. read more

I live within walking distance of the store but I will NOT be shopping here again until they get security and get the place cleaned up. I seriously thought it was going to get robbed just now when I was there at 10:30 on a Saturday morning. I've never seen another store that has to put their vanilla extract up front at the customer service desk because, I'm guessing, alcoholics must steal it for the alcohol. PATHETIC! I feel sorry for the people who have to work here. Safeway corporate should care more about their employees, the safety of their employees, and their customers!!! read more

All in all for what it is this is a solid grocery store. They have really good weekly deals. For those who gave a bad review because they cant read or operate the app. Sucks for you, but frankly thats not the businesses fault. Maybe you should figure out how to take advantage of deals instead of not following the process they provide and then get mad about it? I use the app every time i shop. The deals are great savings. You literally press a clip button and it adds to your account automatically. Never had issues. The prices are not deceptive. Do wish they got rid of all of the regularly unused registers, but aside from that, not bad. The people in produce and plants/ floral really care about their work. Ive been asked if i needed assistance in both depts and they made sure i found exactly what i needed. Also- shopping outside of peak peach season i could literally smell them in the store- werent on my grocery list but i deviated anyways. Thats one of the best signs of good produce. It may not be the prettiest from a "vibe" perspective inside, but it functions the way it needs to. Only product suggestion, please stock more meat alternative options. Regularly low on tofu, tempeh, beyond meat etc because compared to the meat selection- plant based meats take up a small fraction of the space. As a result of increasing demand for plant based protein - these items can be hard to come by. Please expand! read more

This is the worst Safeway in the world. If you think I'm exaggerating look at my pictures! I try to avoid this place at all cost but sometimes I find my self with no other options so I'll stop in. I frequently find rotten food on the shelves complete with mold growing on produce (see pictures). The older employees are the rudest disgruntled people I have ever met. Also, Homeless people frequent here and I have on numerous occasions been approached by drunks asking for change. Almost all of their shopping carts have been stolen. I once had a cashier yell at me in the store. I walked up to the service counter to look at their condom options. A lady cashier yelled, "Hay no one is working over there right now. You'll have to get in my line." I looked at her and said OK. Then went back to looking at my options only to have her yell again. She yelled extremely loud on a busy day with people everywhere, like a parent would a child, "What's wrong with you? Get in my line!" Seriously, what's wrong with you lady? We were less that 15 feet from each other! They are always short staffed. I always have to wait in a line. I have never seen this place without a now hiring sign somewhere in the store. Ever so often a nice looking happy person will start working here and within weeks they quit or look exhausted. I have a friend who works at the other Safeway in town and he tells me no one likes to go there and work. The worst person at this store is a cashier named Owen (see pictures). This guy is the rudest most disgruntled of them all. He has been rude to my wife, friends and me. He is always dirty, smelly and has his underwear hanging out (see pictures). My pictures are just a few but I swear this is how this place always is. I imagine once Sprouts opens this place will shutdown. On top of all their personnel problems and rotten produce they have a limited variety and virtually nothing organic. read more

The worst experience I've ever had! The selves were empty and it stunk in that store! There pineapple was white and the staff was rude I had asked if they accepted Apple Pay and the lady had rudely said yes in a way you should not talk to people. The product look like it had not been changed in a month! I had bought a couple of things only because I did not find most of the things I wanted. If a member of my family asked what Safeway to go to I would not be this one!! read more

I am a fan of this store because it is my local, closest store & want it to stay there. I like many of the people who work there , who know my name , my husband's name and my family members, it is a tight group there. I want a store I can walk too and shop here 75% of the time. What is wrong with this location is Safeway Corp does not in any way support it ( and something else I will detail later ). The shelves can at times be empty and or lacking products, produce has thankfully gotten better, good deal on meat regularly ,crappy deli & bakery but again that falls on Safeway Corp to hire good help , spend the time to train them ,and treat them with respect. Safeway's biggest problem is the ever present Homeless Mentally Ill and/or Drug abusing population that hovers this store and THAT falls on the community and the Loveland Police. My last visit I was asked for change going in the door , and then again going to my car from another drunken homeless guy. The gas station seems to hire "friends" of this group and they freely wander inside & outside that area , the large shabby RV that for all the world looks & acts like a traveling crack wagon is found there nearly every day. I can't be the only one who notices this. Homeless drug abusers sit in groups, huddled together openly doing drugs sit across the street. I have witnessed fights , falls, freak outs - multiple times , in any kind of weather. In the mornings the homeless make trips into the Safeway bathroom to wash up by sink bathing. Sit in the sitting areas by the deli, gather in front by the picnic tables , it is out of control at this point. I want to support this store and will continue too I wish Safeway and the Loveland Police would do the same. read more

I try to avoid going to this Safeway whenever possible. The cashiers do not know how to load my prepaid debit card and send me over to Customer Service where the lines are long and slow. That is not even the worst part, at their deli it is very limited which I am willing to overlook in most cases but not with these guys because here is where I get to the part of quality of service and product, the mashed potatoes is questionably mixed with the gravy and vice versa because they use the same spoon for both things when serving it up. Not only that but my mashed potatoes and gravy I got had a nearly hardened shell on both the potato and gravy. YUK! Just the thought of it makes me want to barf! What a bunch of idiots that work here and what grotesque gelatinous muck they serve there! I never got food poisoning here but just looking at the deli food nearly makes me think that I got it at first sight. read more

Well we call it the Ghetto Safeway because it is truly the worst Safeway we have been in- years ago they had a rat infestation and there were huge rats running around the dumpster on the North end of the building. Since we complained the manager put rat traps out but the store grounds are still pretty filthy. There's usually a colorful menagerie of seemingly homeless humans hanging around the outside of the store at all times of day and night. Three stars because most the people who work there are very nice (the old timers go to the trouble of remembering your name) and it is the ONLY grocery store downtown. read more

This store is in a very good location, but Safeway didn't bother updating it when they renovated all their stores a few years back. It's just a big convenience store, but the staff do try and I'm there almost every week. The staff are its biggest asset. read more

Well another extremely frustrating trip to this Safeway. Customer service gal was as rude as she could possibly be again. Unfortunately I needed to return something and you would have thought from her attitude I was trying to steal everything in sight. The turnover of cashiers is amazing and after my wonderful encounter with the customer service person she must have gone straight to the cashier I had and said something even more demeaning because she was nasty as well. The other Safeway is out of my way but I can not let myself be stupid enough to return here. A warning to all...avoid this Safeway unless you enjoy being treated like a thieving inconvenience! What an awful feeling I left with and unfortunately I should have known better as it has happened on numerous occasions. Heaven forbid you check your receipt for overcharges and need any kind of real customer service.
