I went here with my son tonight. We did our weekly haul. Upon approaching the checkout, Alex, the person who was ringing us up, had a very dismissive attitude toward us from the get go. First off, he was hunched over, talking on his cell phone. He saw us, and told the person on the phone that he "had a person coming, that they had to go." He then said " Can you bag for me?" I said, "Yea, I can, that I just need needed to get everything out of my cart. Alex dropped my paper towels on the floor and didn't say anything until I turned around, then he was like, "Oh, those just fell." So I picked them up. My son wasn't feeling well and wanted to get home. I asked Alex if he could help us out bagging and that I'd be there to help as soon as I was done getting everything onto the conveyor belt. He sounded annoyed and didn't help me bag, until he was done scanning everything. I had a big order too, over $300.00. I asked if he could bag the items as he was scanning them. I was done unloading and already bagging myself, but he argued with me and said that he prefers to do things a different way than other cashiers. He prefers to scan everything first and pile everything up on the counter. He seemed argumentative. I didn't want to engage him. It was an awkward moment, especially with my son, right there. I was shaking while I was putting my groceries back into my cart because he gave me such a bad feeling. I asked him for his name. He gave it and said, "I don't mind giving my name out." Then he asked why, I told him, so I could fill out a review. It's good to know other people experiences, so they can be prepared. read more

If a person comes into a store and intentionally takes an item without paying it's called theft. What do you call it when a store steals from the customer? Fraud. Safeway has now topped themselves with the digital coupons not working. The coupon entered did not work. We all know the rules, the steps, the procedure, but still it didn't work. There it is entered into your phone as well as using it's number to I.D. as your issued card is nearly worthless. And here's the correct item to get the discount. All the other items with a coupon worked. Why just this one? A dollar here, a couple of dollars there of non working coupons adds up fast. Notice the price error is always in their favor. Always! What does the attendant first say when you call her over? Well it has to be YOUR fault. Every time, the dumb ones say that. No apology. You'd like to ask them how they even found their way to work. Or, tell them if their damn coupons worked correctly, they wouldn't be needed and the store could fire them. When you got dressed today, did you put your socks on first or your shoes? Do you make that mistake often, lady? Don't work self checkout if you can't respect your customers. We already know most of your day is fixing coupon problems. The white haired lady is the nicest one they have and never gets rattled. Fred Meyer has a class action suit ongoing. It's time Safeway had one, too. read more

Going in on a Sunday afternoon and there is only one checker and the line for self check out is half way down the aisle directly behind it. I understand employees go to lunch, but the store should have coverage for lunch hours. This seems to be a pattern and it just seems to be getting worse. I just feel that I need to either do my shopping at a different store or just go first thing in the morning to do my shopping. read more

I work in an office building on SE Lake Rd and frequent this Safeway. All of the prior reviews are correct, should you come here expect to wait in line for check out. One thing I want to add is the baristas at the Starbucks kiosk ALWAYS HAVE ATTITUDE. For example, they had a sign (which I will add a photo of) reading: Enjoy a grande handcrafted beverage on us. With the purchase of any breakfast sandwich or Sous Vide egg bites. Excludes bakery pastry items. I order a grande iced black tea and bacon egg bites, WHAT DO YOU MEAN YOU WANT EGG BITES FOR FREE you can't get it with tea it has to be espresso.. Over-all, I have always loved Safeways. I know them like the back of my hand, they are all laid out similarly for easy navigation, and it's familiar to me. This location, however, has some employees that are very unfriendly and extremely unprofessional. I came in on Mother's Day to grab groceries for a picnic and some flowers for a few of the mothers in my life. I went up to the flower stand where there were 3 women arranging flowers. I asked if they had any of the inserts that say "best mom" and "#1 mom" in glitter and on sticks to stick into the flowers I was buying. The gal rang me up at that counter and asked if I wanted to purchase the rest of my items there. I kindly declined as I had more shopping to do and I assumed she was ringing me up there because the inserts I was asking for had no price tag. I then proceeded to walk around the floral area for a few more minutes, making sure I was getting what I wanted and hadn't missed anything. That's when I heard one of the women, her name was Krista, say something about their security being at the door. She said it really loudly, and I didn't assume it had anything to do with me. I then made my way around the store grabbing more supplies I needed for my outing later that day. I made my way to the deli counter to ask for Mayo and mustard packs for the 2 big sub sandwiches I had in my cart. The woman told me they don't give out Mayo and mustard packs. Never have I been told that. But I said ok and started to walk away. I made it about 20 ft away and was standing by the frozen food looking over my list, and I heard the woman from the deli pick up the phone and tell whoever was on the other line, "ya, she just came over asking for mayonnaise and mustard packs. I told her we don't give them out." With a chuckle. I looked at her in shock, looked around the store and noticed that Krista woman standing by the Starbucks on the phone and they were looking at each other. I immediately walked up and asked her if she was talking about me. Then I called my husband to tell him what I just experienced. These women were watching me walk around the store, calling each other, and not giving me any type of help, and acting incredibly unprofessional. At this point I was shaking. Once I purchased the rest of my items and made it home, my husband called the deli. A younger man answered the phone and my husband asked if he were to buy a sub sandwich from the deli, could he get Mayo and mustard packets to go with it (just to double check that it wasn't a new policy or something). He said, "oh of course! But it looks like someone bought the last two sandwiches we had put out, would you like us to make you one?" (I was the customer who bought the last two sandwiches) He respectfully declined, and got off the phone. I went back to that store and was able to get a small sack full of Mayo and mustard packets from the young man my husband talked to. I have no idea what I had done to those women to make them act that way. I was polite, said please and thank you, and had full intentions of paying for all of my items when I was done shopping. These employees are so unprofessional and petty. It was a disgusting display of ignorance on their part. They knew nothing about me. Unfortunately, this is the closest Safeway to my home and the one I get my prescriptions from and frequent the most. I had to see the mean deli woman again today. And while I was at the deli getting the last 8 BBQ chicken wings for my husband, a different large male employee was standing behind me in line. And when the wings were being scooped up into the bag he verbally expressed his feelings about there being none left. When I started to walk away from that deli counter, he said loudly, "well I was going to get those wings, but I guess I can't now!" Again, some of the most unprofessional behavior coming from a single store on more than one occasion. It's baffling and disturbing! read more

Something is happening in the world of Safeway, I'm not sure what, but I've noticed a trend and it's not just this location. Maybe they hired a new CEO or someone else high up who decided it was high time their grocery store rose way above the pack. The store is always clean and well organized and the produce is fresh and the prices are fair, but this review is more about the service or better said, care I received last night. Last night's shopping experience prompted me to actually wake up in the morning still thinking about it and take the time to write a review. The shining star of my review is a checker named Rebecca. Smart, funny, quick, happy... I seriously could go on and on. So much so that I not only pledged to myself to exclusively shop there from now on (even tho I'm way closer to FM & Walmart), but to also make a point to find out when Rebecca is working so I can return to her lane. Crazy right? I joked to my son that we'd start calling ahead like when we get our hair cut and make an appointment! Thank you Safeway and Rebecca for making such a typically mundane chore into something I'm looking forward to in the future. Now if only I could feel this way about my gym;) read more

Oh, Lord no. I don't have any problem with the products Safeway offers, their parking lots, their app and coupons or the cafe inside. My only problem with Safeway is that given ANY location on ANY day at ANY TIME, there's guaranteed to be a shortstaffed, curt cashier and a line. This particular Safeway isn't any worse of an offender than others. The one on Woodstock at around 50th is bad and the one closest to me, on King and 42 in Milwaukie is terrible. Why don't more (I only know of the 28th and Hawthorne) locations do self-check? Why don't they staff better? I went in on a sick day during the week. All I wanted was hot chicken soup from the deli and a Gatorade. 2 items. Shopping was a breeze, until I got in a line at 12 on a Tuesday. I waited probably ten minutes in a line to buy two items. I even told myself if I was patient, I'd go to Starbucks and get an iced tea for the ride home. There was even a line at Starbucks of about 4 people. Safeway is chronically understaffed and that's a bummer because I do enjoy shopping there. Incredibly slow checkout. Get self checkout please. Took me over 10 minutes to get through the express line with three orders ahead of me. I bought hot deli food.... Now semi warm. The cashier gossips too much. Item availability is good;however checkout is a nightmare. I will only shop here at a last resort. Also mark your express lines 1 to 12 items so the shoppers don't unload a full basket in the lane. read more

I am convinced that each and every employee (well, except for the cute bag girl) has been carefully selected, almost hand picked to work at this location. Either that, or else there is a subliminal thought altering machine that is extremely effective at pissing me off, because EVERY time I go to this location, I seem to leave upset. The customer service here is terrible, the employees don't give a rat's ass (ok, if you had a rat's ass, would you give it away?) and they don't seem to know how to write the schedule because they never have enough employees working the registers. This location does not offer a self check out station...which may also add to the long lines that always seem to manifest themselves when I am there to pick up a six pack (by the way...one of the worst beer selections of any grocery store) or a few ingredients for dinner. The only checking out that seems to happen, is the high school grocery cart boys checking out my wife's ass on the way into the store. Throw in the worst piped in Musak that constantly plays a loop of Eddie Rabbit, Songs from Cats and Celine Dion, and you understand my total dislike for my friendly neighborhood Safeway! read more

$1.12 cost Safeway/Albertsons customers for life. Safeway (Parent company Albertson's Companys / Cerberus Capitol Management) at 14840 SE Webster Rd, Milwaukie this afternoon made an announcement at appox. 4:30pm that "Due to an Unfortunate Set of Circumstances, we will only accept CASH until further notice." Not in an apologetic tone, but in a 'I can't believe I have to deal with this crap' tone. OK. I had been shopping for 15, minutes at this time, so I did 2 things, first, I checked how much CASH I had on me. $31.00 - Next, I did a quick math problem in my head, how much is is my cart at this point ( I was not done shopping). I estimated $28, so I stopped shopping, and got into 1 of 3 long lines- I do not know or care how long this had been going on, but typical long line for this store. I observed several interactions of what must be a most embarrassing discussion to have in public- with the cash we have on us, what do we have to have in our cart, and what do we leave behind. I believe everyone I witnessed was a respected, hard working man, woman or couple, and my heart hurt seeing them have these public discussions, trapped in line with strangers. Finally my turn, and the cashier looks at me and says in her snottiest voice, "I hope you heard we only take CASH!" Um, yes, I heard. I told her I checked, and I have $31, I believe I have more than enough. "Well, we'll see." Great... I gave her my extra-large shopping bag, and that dramatic 'I'm too good for this' attitude cashier began to scan my purchases, which included a couple of fresh meat products, and 4-.99 + .05 deposit 2 liter Coke Zero bottles. The total, after the Safeway Card discounts??? You guessed it, $32.12 - $1.12 more that the cash I had on hand. Well damn, shame on me. I mentioned I had no problem coming back down in a little bit with the $1.12, but I was cut short of my offer, and just told "All we can do is 'suspend' the transaction, and continue it when you come back." I said, "Oh, that's nice, expecting to provide my credit/debit card and drivers license, sign some form of IOU, and be on my way. But then it occurred to me- "Oh, you're going to keep my purchases (fresh meet *pork chops - 2 packages*) in my bag, somewhere in this store, until I make it to a teller machine and come back with an additional $1.12". She said that is all she can do. I then reached into my cart, where the 4 bottles of Coke Zero sat, grabbed 2 of them. held them between me and her, and asked "There is no other choice than to leave all of my food here?" She said yes, no other choice. I sat the 2 bottles on the counter, grabbed the other 2 and again asked, "Are you sure there is nothing else that can be done?" as I held the bottles towards her. "Nope, nothing." I said, "OK. Well, you just lost a customer who has been coming here for longer that this store has been open, over $1.12. Good job, you must be proud of yourself. Please take the items out of my bag, here are the 4 bottle of Coke Zero (3rd try to get her to come up with a possible solution of maybe only buying 2- she apparently is that customer service blind.)" I looked at the people behind me in line, and their jaws were wide open. Then, she let out another long sigh, and said "Let me ask my manager." I said "For what? Anything that it is going to take a manager to approve I don't want, unless it's offered to everyone else in this store. Is that what you're going to ask her?" "Well, NO!" So... I said "do not bother, you will never see me in this store again, and remember, this is allover $1.12!" She emptied my bag, I looked at the customers behind me, I shrugged my shoulders at them, they all had big grins of realization on their faces, and I left the store. I sure hope they had better experiences than I received, but if nothing else, they have a heck of a story to tell when the get home. Sooo... if you have stayed with this tale to the end, I applaud you. I see US Bank has determined that they no longer need a branch & ATM there, maybe the parent companies will come to the same realization towards this Safeway, it's management, and specifically this employee. In regards to the management, is it possible that in this day and age, that no one had ever thought of a remedy for the time an 'Unfortunate Set of Circumstances' occurs that they have a back-up plan to accept credit/debit cards? Too bad that previous to the invention of the little credit card chip readers, there wasn't a manual way to accept payment by credit/debit card. Oh wait, there was? Hand written slips and a signature? Oh, the horror of it all to have to train someone on how those worked. Geez. read more

I know it is tough to compete with all the online shopping now days, but this Safeway has been going down hill for awhile. I have been shopping here for 10 years and use to know many of the people who worked there. There was obvious problems when I started noticing all of the regular staff were being replaced. Now there seem to be only a few faces that are there more than a month or two. They are currently reorganizing the entire store, but when asked about it, no one seems to have a reason why. We just found out that they are no longer carrying gluten free food, which I buy there. Again, no reason why. I hope someone from upper management reads this and realizes that there are still lots of people who want to shop locally and actually get to know the people they see almost every day. You upper management, have ruined a neighborhood store and the only one in the neighborhood I might add! read more

I have read the other reviews. I am shocked they are talking about the same store I shop at. I love this store! They know my first name, not just my last. Customer Service is great. They have changed the store around and it does not have in hispanic food aisle that says "these premises are monitored by security cameras". Pharmacy is being remodeled at this time, but soon will be a beautiful pharmacy. Prices are great! Check out this store again! It has changed for the better! read more

This is my neighborhood store. For along time I would stop in the mornings for a breakfast sandwich from the deli. Overtime it got constantly harder to actually get somebody to be at the counter and if there was they where out of bread or out of eggs so I quit going. Over the last few weeks I have stopped by 6 times. 3 of those times they hadn't turned the oven on yet so nothing was available, 1 time they only had egg whites and the 5th time there was no bread one time out of 6 they where ready and had everything. On top of this aside from when the red haired gentleman is working you will have to stand at that counter for a minimum of 5 minutes before anybody decides to come down from cutting deli meet to help. By help I mean tell you they can't help you anyway. This generally happens around 6:15AM so if the stores open the oven should be on and food should be prepped and ready to go. I'd chalk this up to poor management and lack of training. Also if you go anytime in the afternoon or evening be prepared to stand in line awhile. I will usually drive further to Fred Meyers for items just to avoid this. read more

Stopped into the bakery to order a cake, showed the baker what I wanted and they said they have done many cakes just like this. They didn't have the ability to do it freehand so I just needed to go home print the picture and they will put it in the cake. I go home do as instructed only to arrive back to be told no they won't do the cake because it's not my original picture. When I complained all the bakery staff went to the back screaming and yelling at one another fighting over if it should be honored or not. Then one slowly slinked out to tell me no. It wasn't going to happen. Now I'm stuck without a birthday cake!!! I order all my cakes here and will never order or buy another cake from these people. In general this Safeway staff is just down right rude. When I shop here I go through self check just not to deal with them. I shop here because it is close to my house not because of friendly good service or loyalty. I will be taking ALL my shopping elsewhere. Rude, nasty and liars don't get my money! Good people, poor management. Rented a carpet cleaner, and it was so filthy, it left streaks of pet hair and dirt on my rug; I had to take it apart and hose it off outside. They do not look these over when they are returned, so buyer beware. Slow checkout, they need to seriously upgrade their card readers to match the service available EVERYWHERE else. Poor attention to the shopping experience. I have asked many times for bags, tags, and markers by the bulk nuts & trail mix, with a very poor response. Fred Meyer has nice little stands with all that right in their bulk section, makes it easy & convenient; At Safeway, just the opposite. Remodeled Clackamas FM will draw away a LOT of customers, I bet. read more

First (most recent thing) I'll ding them for is the bottle return not working. It took a couple bucks worth then quit. But I guess that's the way most retailers are now, they just want to collect the deposit and make sure nobody can return the cans and bottles. During peak hours, expect long lines. It's not that it's exceptionally crowded, it's that they are short to begin with and when it starts to fill up the employees head for the back. "Express" does not actually mean that lane is any faster. They typically put their slowest checker on that lane to compensate. Mid-morning on the weekdays is not a good time to go either, as you can just about plan on loads of confused elderly people haggling over prices at the checkstand or asking the checker to get something they forgot at the furthest reaches of the store. Prices? Well, it's probably not the most expensive grocery store in the metro area. New Seasons is more spendy by about 10-15% I do like their deli, usually good service there and an above average selection. read more

I went here again to find super friendly staff during this quarantine. The shelves were being stocked and I found all that I needed. The checker offered so much help!!! She even scanned extra coupons from ads and the paper bags are free right now. Being a bit stressed about public exposure, I was to glad to hear her thinking about what I hadn't given time to. This Safeway is at the top of my list of most annoying experiences. Note the attached photo. This was about $15 worth of stuff. Not much at all. Would have easily fit into one paper bag. But for some reason, they refuse to offer paper even though they are "hidden away" behind the counter. I guess management tells them not to ask because they are probably more expensive I'm sure. But come on Safeway! Before you even have a chance to step up to your place in line, they are already placing one or two items in individual plastic bags and before long you have a half dozen bags you have to haul to your car with one or two items in each one. Obviously, this is easier for them but not only a pain in the A for the customer but bad for the earth, in case they didn't know that yet. Thank God, we have the paper bag law in effect statewide in Oregon soon. BUT...the only problem with that is it Safeway plans to charge you for that paper bag! They are already doing that in the lake Oswego Safeway. I am praying for a new seasons or Trader Joe's to come to my neighborhood soon! Unfortunately, I live in Oregon city and this one is the closest to my child's school and the most convenient for me at the moment. And it's just as bad in the Safeways near me. You know I gotta say, I don't like writing negative reviews, you can see by my profile I write few of them. In this case, nobody has earned a negative review more that these people; they would have to rally to be labeled pathetic. This pharmacy is downright criminally incompetent, just before Christmas, I refilled a prescription there for high blood pressure I have been getting at this location for more than five years, it had to be renewed by the Doctor, there in was the problem, they somehow garbled the instructions from the Doctor (They blamed the Doctor) and filled it with TAR instead of ER, of the same drug. Unfortunately they also mis-spelled the name of the drug (Again blaming the Doctor), being the old fart I am with old fart eyes, I failed to look at the prescription before I left because I didn't have my glasses with me. Here is the bad part: I WAS NOT OFFERED A CONSULTATION (Try blaming that on the Doctor). So there I was Christmas Morning, looking at a freshly opened prescription, the pills were different, I grabbed my reading glasses OMG, it's a different drug. So I went online, heart pumping rapidly and looked it up, it took me over 30 minutes to find the name of the drug on my new prescription was a common mis-spelling for the drug I had been taking. To make it worse, they made me pay for the correct replacement. The point here is, OK, there was an error, maybe it was the Doctors problem, maybe not, but it was different and I was not made aware of that or offered a consultation. Had this been the only time they messed up one of my prescriptions I could look the other way, if they offered to make it right, that would also be another thing, but they chose to blame the Doctors office and refused to financially own up to their lack of oversight protection. What if this had been serious error, they obviously have no checks in place to safeguard their customers. They have now lost a customer forever. read more

I'm leaving an updated review for Safeway because now that I don't work there anymore, I can say whatever I want!! Plus, although I can't avoid death, perhaps, but at least for another couple of minutes, I CAN avoid taxes! Anyway, this review is for the awesome crew at the STARBUCKS in Milwaukie on Webster Rd. I worked with these people and they consistently received high, high surveys for their great customer service and 100% satisfaction. Though it can get busy, the manager Kris and the great team there really know their beans! I'm not really a coffee drinker so I'd often try new things. Latoya and Ashley would sometimes suggest something new I'd like, and always served it up with a pleasant attitude. This Starbucks was often the top ranked store in the area-- so it wasn't just me getting great service. This crew also mentions any deals or specials if you let them know you're interested. They like to make their customers happy, and it shows each day in their work ethic. Stop in a few times and you'll see what I mean. This is my everyday grocery stop. The staff are great and we've a long-established rapport, as they are both courteous and patient with demanding customers and a flawed POS system. The selection is slightly limited, but a satisfactory place to get the bare necessities and some luxury food items. The company is caught somewhere between the high and low ends of the market. There are deals to be had and prices aren't exorbitant, but by trying to occupy both markets, it fails to fully please either one. The store itself is pretty well stocked with mostly convenience foods and some organic/artisan products, but it could really use some whole-wheat flat bread to go with my hummus. read more

First, the good news: I think the selection has improved over the last 3-4 months. Seems I usually find what I'm looking for as of late. The bad: the ONLY time I don't walk out of there frustrated is when I use the Self Check. That's, literally, how bad the checkers are there. Tonight.... Three lanes open, Express had 7 people in front of me, so I had to line up in a regular lane. Checker is one-handed checking, you know, scan, talk, scan, talk. Finally, after 3 minutes, she actually looks over at me and says, "I'm sorry, my lane is closed". I had one item, one item. After I popped out a wise ass comment (richly deserved), I next moved over to "Reggie". Brilliant young man. Rang up my single item: $7.09, gave him 10.09 (getting rid of pennies, $3 change). He tried to give me back the 9 pennies. I slid it back to him, and looked at him, to see if his brain was even working, because at the rate he rang the previous person, I had legitimate doubts. It took him 5-6 seconds of me looking at him to figure out what I was doing, swear to God. The kid was expressionless. Almost without fail, every time I am forced to go there every employee there either act like they don't: give a crap about their job or they are high. It's been like this for a very long time and I'm done. I'll go out of my way and go to Fred Meyer, maybe they can do their jobs. read more

I chose this pharmacy because I was transferring my prescriptions from the Safeway Pharmacy in Jantzen Beach, which is terrific, wonderful, excellent, and had hoped for equally decent service. No such luck. They have lost my insurance info, and have been understocked on at least one of the medications I take each month. This means that the things that zi need are never ready when I need them; auto refills are never set. Once again this week, I recieved 3 phone calls from this pharmacy reminding me to pick up meds. Yet when I arrived to get said mefications, I was given only a partial refill on one (6 tablets for a month?), and one was not a full-months worth. Neither of these are rare meds; they should have enough in stock to fill a prescription. Service sucks, too. The phone often rings endlessly without being answered, and messages are never returned. This update is JUST for the GARDEN section. 5 stars for the rest of their sections. They have a pest issue, spider mites to be exact. Those guys can never really be rid of, just controlled. I bought a dragon tree here two weeks ago and it took me a bit to realize what was going on. First noticed sap drops and then found the sneaky webbing hidden between the dense foliage by the bark. I looked at a few other of their plants and they all had them. The way they handled this left me feeling very frustrated. The lady there said she hadn't seen a dragon tree there in a long time and looked at me like I was trying to scam them. That or like I was an idiot who didn't remember where I bought the one plant I've gotten in the last 6 months. The tag washed off when I was watering it and since I come to Safeway 2-3 times a week, I saved the wrong receipt and didn't have the right one on hand. So I left the plant there with no refund and left feeling like some sort of idiot plant crook. Just not great customer service. I would be leery of even buying bouquets here, spider mites jump between plants quickly. It's why I brought the beautiful dragon tree plant back, I didn't want it to infest the rest of my plants, I even thought about having it outside but spider mites attack outdoor plants too. read more

Not surprising, but I have had no response! Evidently, customer service is a thing of the past. Such a shame. I would not recommend shopping somewhere that they have little to no care about you the customer. Do they not realize that it is us the consumer that will make or break their business? With people having so many other options when it comes to buying groceries you would think they would care a little more. read more

I love Safeway. They are always nearby, their specialty cakes are amazing, and the employees are typically good-natured.

I came in for a gallon of milk! One checker - 9 people in line, no auto checker. 9:00 on Tuesday. Took 22 minutes waiting in line :(

I was in an accident in at this store caused by water on the floor. Their reaction to my fall was intolerable. So far neither Safeway nor Sedgwick have responded in a customer service related manner.They are now both ignoring me and continuing to cause stress in my life. This place is terrible customer service. Only if you go in the am hour you might not have a bad employee experience. They need to get rid of the high school girls they got on check out. You've got to be kidding!! I've generally loved shopping at your friendly store and seeing familiar faces for years and years. However yesterday when I asked a clerk why you had plastics bags again (there was a short period where the use of plastic bags was not allowed) she said "We are thankfully outside of incorporated milwaukie therefore we can have plastic bags, it's better then paper!" She then proceeded to speak to me in an indignant, rude and unfortunately ignorant manner. You've got to be kidding that an employer would allow an employee to profess that this is a good thing. Where have you been? It sickens me to see people use plastic and actually double bag at times. Encourage customers to bring their own bags... support your community and future generations. Pay attention to the environment, our world, our life... get educated. Educate your staff. I'm offended that one of your employees actually thought the use of plastic is a good thing. At least tell the uninformed ignorant staff to keep their mouth shut. You just lost a long time customer. Don't use your demographics as an excuse.... and feel free to interpret this last comment in several ways... that's the intent. read more

I went to your location on Theissen and Webster last Saturday morning the 10th at approx. 8am. I purchased a few items which included 12 donuts. At the register I was checked out by Linda (the front end manager). As she was ringing me up she asked: "You have 12 there?", I replied "Yes". She continued to ring me up and then stated "umm. you have more than 12 there, hun." Then she then gave me my total. Of course I was upset because she basically accused me of stealing which I did not. The problem was she didn't ask to count them she just announced that she thought I was not paying for everything I was taking in front of a line of people and gave me my total. To me, this was the same as her saying-I know you are stealing but I'm not going to do anything about it, other than let you know I know. This was frustrating and embarrassing. I proceeded to open the box and count them out for her. As I stated, there were only 12 there. She proceeded to count them twice because she didn't believe me. After she realized there was only 12 she didn't apologize or even admit she was wrong. She just let me stand there embarrassed after she basically announced I was stealing. This used to be my grocery store but not anymore. This treatment is unacceptable. Call me out as a thief? Really? I deserve an apology from her. I will never shop here again. Worse experience ever!!! read more

Disappointed once again in the service at this store. Since the closure of the Oak Grove store this store should've anticipated the customers would come her but they are consistently out of products, ranging from bread, salad, salsa and if it's on sale forget it. Their ads are misleading, mislabeled and the managers always seem to have an excuse, either the truck was late, it hasn't been put out on the shelves yet and they don't offer a rainy day option. They have offered a choice of a similar product but what's the point when you want the product you went there for? read more

The meat department help here is terrible and has been for years. The meat department at the Safeway on McLoughlin (now closed) was great and could make suggestions, grind meat for you and really be of service. Unfortunately they are gone and we are left with the non service at Webster. I have previously complained through the channels to the regional rep who passed a complaint on to the manager and it died there. I guess the joke is on me as I keep testing them by going back from time to time and get the same consistent poor results from the the meat department. The rest of the store seems to be ok. read more
