I spoke with my doctor and he sent a different prescription. The Pharmacy that my doctor sent my prescription to did not have it. I called around and found "Accokeek Drug and Health Care Inc". I asked my doctor to send the prescription to them. I did not realized that they were closed Sunday. On Monday morning (May 6th) my father called to check the status on my prescription (NOTE: He was going to pick it up for me because I can't drive due to my surgery). The pharmacist said I would have to wait until May 9th for him to fill the prescription. I called my health insurance company because I thought that may have been the issue. The insurance company called the pharmacy and patch me in with the pharmacist. The pharmacist (I believe his name was Mark or Mike) said he was not comfortable filling my prescription because he noticed that I had a prescription filled on Friday. I advised him that I did and the medicine was not working; that's why the doctor prescribed something else. He then asked "where is that medicine at" and I told him I have it here with me at home. The pharmacist said in order to fill the new prescription. I will need to bring him my old prescription (the medicine) NOTE: I did not purchase this prescription from this pharmacy. I was puzzled. I felt as though he was trying to say I'm addicted or misusing my prescription. I have NEVER use drugs. I have never felt so insulted and disrespected my entire life. Luckily my doctor was able to send it to a reliable pharmacy. It is very dangerous when the pharmacist wants to play doctor. I will never send my prescriptions or refer this pharmacy to anyone! I asked for it to be filled with Auvi-Q (a brand of epinephrine) since I had a coupon for it. THE NEXT DAY, the pharmacist calls me in the morning and tells me that she won't fill it with Auvi-Q because the prescription says epinephrine and not Auvi-Q. She said she would call the doctor and ask for the prescription to be rewritten. I came in that night to pick up my prescription. I was told that I had to wait because "the pharmacist is praying". Praying? For some reason, I expect the pharmacist to be IN THE PHARMACY and WORKING during business hours, not praying to the sky monster. When she was done praying and ready to deal with customers, the pharmacist said the doctor didn't respond and so she didn't fill the prescription. I asked why exactly they can't fill it and she said the doctor (my allergist) wrote it wrong. I informed her that the prescription was a pre-printed form for epinephrine and my allergist certainly knows how to write prescriptions for it. I asked if it's a problem with my insurance and she said it's not the insurance, she just personally doesn't BELIEVE in filling the prescription the way it was written. I pointed out that doctors almost always write a prescription for the active ingredient in the drug and not by brand name, but she refused to admit she was wrong. I called another pharmacy and explained what the Giant pharmacist said and asked if they would fill it as written. They laughed at me and said OF COURSE they would fill it! I came in the next day and talked to the pharmacy manager and asked for them to give me back the prescription paper so I could take it to another pharmacy. She told me that there's absolutely nothing wrong with the way the prescription is written and there's no reason it couldn't have been filled two days ago when I originally dropped it off. I said sorry, I don't have a lot of patience for pharmacists who like to jerk their customers around and took my prescription to the other pharmacy.

My Doctor recommended Stafford Pharmacy that Dr. Kobe Boakye owns and operates. He is the kindest gentleman! He had my medicine in stock, was able to process my insurance quickly and fill my script. Dr. Boakye is clearly a seasoned pro; he explained my medication instructions, availed himself to questions and assured me the current medications I am taking would not negatively interact with the script he filled for me. Stafford Pharmacy is unique from chain drug stores in a number of positive ways. It carries specialty items and offers specialty services that include: delivery, medical equipment, compounding and an assortment of over the counter meds as well as herbal supplements. Instead of my transaction being processed by a teenager, or even a Pharmacist, a Pharmacologist tended to me and the customer service was excellent! In fact, I forgot my insurance card and Dr. Boakye called me himself and offered to drop it in the mail.
