I want to start by saying that Cynthia and Danielle were absolute sweethearts and deserve recognition for being kind, patient, and professional. Unfortunately, my experience with Bernardo was the worst customer service I've had in a long time--especially troubling in a pharmacy, where customers are often sick, anxious, and vulnerable. I fully understand policies and wait times, and I always try to be respectful, having worked in the service industry myself. What I did not expect was the dismissive and rude way I was treated. While I was waiting, instead of simply asking if I was okay with another customer going ahead of me, Bernardo abruptly said, "Not you--I'm going to help the woman behind you," even though she arrived halfway through my wait. I've stood in long lines before and accepted delays without issue, but the lack of basic courtesy and communication was upsetting and unnecessary. Customer service in a healthcare setting should come with a baseline of empathy and professionalism. That was completely missing here. Bernardo could benefit from additional training in how to interact respectfully with patients. Based on this interaction, I would not feel comfortable being assisted by him again. Bernardo? More like BerNADA--because that's exactly how valued I felt. read more

This pharmacy is absolutely horrible. They are extremely unorganized and always out of our child's medication. This Safeway at downtown Walnut Creek in general has amazing customer service but the pharmacy is an absolute disaster. It's always one issue after another with them. I've ordered Safeway Bakery cakes for the last 10 years ..at least always always got compliments on how good it was and how fresh it tastes. Per usual I ordered one for my own Birthday this past Sunday April 23. I am fully aware to order 24 hours in advance for special cakes. Done. Picked up at said time to take to expensive Resturant here in walnut creek. VERY DISSAPPOINTED!! Decorations were good but taste was HORRIBLE! the cake tasted days old very stale!! A friendly neighborhood pharmacy. We use mail order for the convenience on most of our prescriptions, but when we need something filled immediately we come to this Safeway Pharmacy. It is nearby home, which makes it the most convenient choice. However, if we had not been receiving consistently good service for many years it would also be easy for us to go to a number of alternative pharmacies in the area. We stick with Safeway. The pharmacists at this location take the time to explain precautions and recommendations for each prescription. Other staff who work behind the counter with the pharmacists are also helpful, nice and professional. The pharmacy can be busy, and short lines are not uncommon. However, they seem to keep the supply chain flowing. There are always at least 2 and sometime as many as 4 staff working at this Pharmacy, so there is consistently sufficient staffing to keep things flowing. read more

I don't know why I keep my prescription here. It was easy for me to transfer it from another Safeway store in San Diego, several years ago when I moved to Walnut Creek and then I just never bothered to change it. They do have good hours-considering they are not a Walgreens or CVS but the service is very lackluster. They always act extremely annoyed when I get to the counter for a pick up and I can only imagine the eye rolling when I ever dare to call in. I once had to wait over 4 hours for a simple antibiotic that my doctor called in for me and they had originally quoted the wait time about 45 minutes. Luckily I was able to go back later in the day, but not everyone can do that! One perk, though, is that you can scan your Safeway club card at the Pharmacy and earn Gas Rewards for both Chevron and Safeway gas stations. I'm too lazy to look elsewhere so, meh, guess I will opt to keep using this location. However, if you are new to the area and are starting fresh, I'd recommend looking elsewhere. read more

I have been going here for years, the staff has always been professional , kind and helpfulll.... lines are long everywhere so showing some patience is always best . I feel that those who want things snappy, quick and lack social skills should maybe go to one of the drive thru pharmacies instead of a walk in , in person connection with the pharmacy.. Perhaps it's "you "and not always "them" who need to adjust to the " outside" world when you are out and about in public?? The Staff in Broadway WC are very helpfull when asked for assistance in a courteous manner.. I can only hope you go to a different grocery store to shop next time if this store makes you rude , demanding and. Grumpy so much then please do go elsewhere that way I don't have to listen to you complain in the store as other shoppers are having a. Pleasant time doing their daily routine of grocery shopping... Extremely slow, no concept of keeping appointment timelines. Crowded waiting area. Worst pharmacy I've seen in my life.

Called first to confirm that they accepted Good Rx for the prescription I was filling and the pharmacist told they did. Drove over to find the pharmacist had just gone on lunch break (although she saw me) and all the metal shades were drawn. Waited 30 minutes for the pharmacist to open the shades and she asked if I had been the one to call. When I told her I was she sort of apologized for not telling me about her lunch break and said "it had been a difficult day". Although she wasn't particularly friendly she then took my Rx, asked to see my id, etc. and told me to come back in 15 minutes. When I came back she told me she didn't have the medicine in stock but could order it and have it in about 4 days. After 45 wasted minutes I was done with Safeway and she seemed surprised that I no longer wanted to fill my prescription there. Some folks just don't belong in customer facing jobs. read more

Lakeport Safeway pharmacy is the worst avoid at all cost I started the day a 9am to pickup rx. So I thought.....they told me in order to pick up one new rx. Frome my doctor all my meds needed to go through them. Okay policy I get it how long? 30mins kool I can wait. One hour later I walked out. Came back at 230 thinking Jesus this place is the worst already. 230 they state another 30 mins. Okay I will be back at 430 same thing it will be ready in 45 min. It's now 546pm and I just got meds.......this is not the first bad review. Safeway needs to audit this place or fire some people. Worst decision made switching from CVS. read more

Easy in and out. The pharmacy is by the front door, you walk in and hang a left. I've picked up a few prescriptions here and it's been pretty easy. First, call in and make sure they have the prescription. Second, get a time it will be ready. Third, walk or drive over and pick up the medicine. I've had to stand in line behind other people before, but nothing too bad. They pulled on my information from another Safeway for me the first time I used the store, no issues. read more

People seem to hate this place, but it seems fine to me. I've used it for years, and the staff has always been helpful, sometimes even going out of their way to help me get my prescriptions. I think most of the problems that do come up are more because of outside factors, like insurance issues, other customers, and my doctor's office, which can be difficult. But maybe if you want more personalized service without the lines, there are better places. read more

WORST GROCERY STORE EVER! Although all the employees are helpful, kind and courteous, the corporate management fails to recognize the need for more cashiers when there's lines 20+ people long! Instead of adding self-checkouts they, unnecessarily, put in a larger coffee area where only 2 people max work. How big does that area need to be? Could they be thinking of max profit margins instead of the overall store and customers???? They could have added self-checkouts like Target. Since the new owners have taken over, the company has changed many brand products, jacked up prices (a small container of shredded chicken is $7.99 vs $3.99 at competitors), they continuously change around the shelves, the stores don't know what products they're getting in on any given day, and, it often smells rancid outside the dumpsters. If there were inverted stars I would give them infinity inverted stars! I'm sorry for the wonderful & dedicated workers in the store. They deserve generous bonuses for putting up with corporate management at that location. read more

If they hate their jobs so much, perhaps they should do us all a favor and find a new place of work. In having this as my pharmacy for the past at least 5 years, I could probably count on one hand the number of times it's been pleasant. First, they always substituted my prescription for the generic which was actually different. Finally after my doctor specifically stated brand name only did they stop giving generic. Second, they never have it ready when I get there even though it's the same time every month. They call me and if I don't get down there that day or the next they put it back away to give to someone else so I still have to stand around and wait. And then they get pissy with you because you have to wait and they have to stop what they are doing. Excuse me?! I'm the customer. Do yourself a favor and don't go here. I've switched pharmacies. Just left this Safeway where the express lane (15item or less) checker just allowed an off duty employee to check out with 100 cans of cat food all of which had a 50% off sticker.... Aside from the flagrant flaunting of the rules by employees, what about the level of consideration this shows for your shoppers? Ordered a chicken chipotle wrap and it made so very different from the other safeway i went to. It's too small and put too little of everything. Not buying wrap here anymore. Sorry for the old lady who made my wrap. She should be assigned somewhere. And by the way, the guy next to her who was also making two full lenght sandwiches for the customers were so very arrogant and not friendly. Shouldn't the employees at customer service be a little more...customer focused? I was left waiting for the person who makes the floral arrangements for a good 20 minutes. The girl at customer service told me she'd let her know I was waiting and literally did nothing to acknowledge me as the time passed. There is a lack of management in this store, and it makes me really sad. I enjoy shopping at Safeway and actually like a lot of the employees who work here, but some of them are just entirely too clueless and careless to be working customer service. I just had the worst customer of all time in the pharmacy...I thought since there was a new crew change, the pharmacy would have improved, it has NOT! this new girl is so incompetent, and extremely rude, I was 2 days early with my medication, Ok, I need to leave the State, I call my insurance, they say, no problem, we will clear your medication to pick up, I call safeway to tell them, so they could have it ready, I explain, I spoke to my insurance, it's clear...the pharmacy asian girl, said in the most Condescending tone, " I will ask the Pharmacist, if he's comfortable with that decision" I said WHAT? I can't even tell you, how stupid this pharmacy is....I quit them forever, this isn't the 1st time, they play these ego games, they are abusing their authority, not putting people first "customer" who are they to make a medical decision? I should have never continued with them, I will tell everyone, go somewhere else fast....I picked up my script so fast, Why do they judge people? and take it upon themselves, they have no idea...because they have good health.
