Terrible customer service!! Went shopping and tried to take advantage of the chicken sale. Apparently you needed a digital coupon. So stupid. My phone wouldn't load it. After many tries on the cashiers part we went to the customer service desk. The woman there was more concerned that I had 4 packs instead of the two limit. I explained to her 4 times my husband was getting 2! Trying to get this stupid coupon to work took so long and her great concern that I may buy more than the limit. The management is pathetic and I'm in the process of filing a complaint with the BBB and the attorney general's office, my family has been in and out of the ER form their inadequate storing of perishable product. I've shopped at Safeway for many, many years,with my parents since a child...never, ever have I have never filed a formal complaint anywhere ever! I bought product from the dairy department a couple of weeks ago, and come to find out their freezers were down and not cooling to product to standard. Terrible NEVER USE SAFEWAY GROCERY DELIVERY! Made an order, it never got delivered and per Maureen with Safeway Grocery customer Service my order was cancelled doesn't know why, but it was cancelled. I've been to this Safeway for the past 3 days and there has been no milk. No skim, 1%, 2% or whole milk in the 1/2 gallon or 1 gallon size, not stocked in the Lucerne, Shamrock or any other brand. All I hear from the employees are excuses. I've never heard of a store being out of milk for 3 consecutive days. Whoever is forgetting to order milk needs training. read more

This Safeway is THE WORST. The lines are always super long, the staffing is minimal and not enough to cover the customers shopping, and the employees are rude/inappropriate. While checking out once, the checker and the bagger we're having a political argument and the checker turned to me and asked, "Do you like Obama?" That is not an appropriate question. The only time I ever shop here is when it is more convenient and I regret my decision every time. I was so happy when we moved back west and Safeway turned out to be the closest grocery store to our new home. Unfortunately, Safeway is now owned by Albertson's. Over the last few months, things have gone sour fast. Literally. A couple weeks ago, I found no less than 5 items (milk, moldy bread, crackers and several produce items) on shelves with long past sell by or use by dates. And these were only items I was actually looking to purchase...who knows what else was on the shelf. The produce department, in general, is scarce at best and you'll have to dig for fresh items. And don't try any special orders (I wanted Shiritaki noodles)...it will never arrive, despite three attempts. Today, I pulled some ground beef out of the fridge that I purchased 3 days ago with a sell by date of tomorrow. Rotten. Stink to high heaven rotten. So after this review, I'll be ordering take out for dinner. I used to look past Safeway's higher prices because I appreciated the quality. I can't look past it any longer. I've been a lifelong Safeway fan and am sad to say, they've lost me as a customer. I'd give one star but the convenience factor and kind checkers bump this location to two stars. read more

Was really disappointed in this specific Safeway. Went there to do a return and grocery shop for my brother. Waited at Customer Service for a return for over 20 minutes, and there was only 1 person in front of me. They took forever, and finally at the very end the lady there asked what i needed and called someone up. The Assistant Manager, Michelle came to "help". She was completely RUDE, and gave me bad looks the entire one minute i talked to her. And she couldn't even help me with my return. After grocery shopping, there was only 1 line open. with 5 people in front of me and one behind. Took so long to get through. Very annoyed. And would not recommend shopping there. read more

I love there meat sales and if you have the just 4 u app you'll find sone good deals. Just make sure they come off at the register correctly. Anytime I've had an issue the people have always been generous and kind to work with. The employees are truly gracious + helpful. Obviously, this is Safeway. That hasn't changed since my last review. They carry the expected products. The staff is still friendly and efficient and helpful, which is good. I think I like the one at Alma School and Chandler Heights better, but I don't get that far afield very often. This is a good store, and we can continue to come here. Overall I am very satisfied with the store and staff. This review is for curbside pick up only. On a recent order, I received a notice that 17 items were out of stock. I understand that the supply chain has been disrupted and I have been making substitutions on every shopping trip. Therefore I arrived at the store early and went inside to pick substitutions for those items. 14 of 17 items were on the shelf. I would like to preface this by saying that I do not write firm reviews, I enjoy yelp and previously used it for the sole purpose of supporting businesses that I am impressed by and maybe offering a suggestion for improvement here or there. However, during this time of a pandemic, I felt the need to express my deepest concerns over what I experienced during my trip for groceries last week. It was either a Tuesday or Wednesday evening- excuse my poor old brain- around 7/7:30p.m-8:00. I am a senior but due to the current climate, have been making my trips to the grocery store during the later evening hours because there are fewer people and therefore less opportunity to get sick. I had already been unimpressed by the poorly enforced distancing, but most of that is due to the customers not respecting the large and brightly colored markers that guide the direction of the aisles, and thinking that germs will not transfer if they just walk past me at an accelerated pace. I can accept the ignorance of some customers, as it is hard for employees to ensure everyone is using their common sense, but what I cannot forgive is the irresponsibility of the employees. Upon just entering the building, I saw two cashiers with their face masks located UNDER their face. I understand that face masks are irritating, but this is a simple guideline that is in place to ensure the health of EVERYONE, not just the person in the mask. Later, I went to use the restroom as I waited for my prescription. I entered at the same time as a woman who looked like she could be a manager. She clearly worked there but wasn't dressed in the all-black uniform that is apparently required for everyone else. She was nice enough and greeted me with a warm smile as we both entered the restroom. When she left her stall, rather than going directly to a sink, she just left the bathroom. This is not only uncalled for as an employee leaving the restroom, but I also was in there with her and know that she actually used the restroom and left without washing her hands. I don't like to use vulgar language but WTF? When I went to pay, I made sure to avoid the register she was on but was absolutely horrified to see she had the audacity to touch other people's food as she scanned, with her unwashed hands. I understand that we are all at risk once we go into the public, but I try to be as careful as possible, especially with my age and maybe even more importantly, my immune-compromised/elderly husband at home. I made sure to get her name, which I believe was either Crystal or Carol. She wore glasses and had blonde highlights. In passing, I also heard the customer service clerk Heidi bark at a young employee who had to be no older than 15. There is no reason for anyone to talk to ANYONE the way she felt was necessary. I am voicing this concern primarily because I asked the sweet employee helping me at the self-check-out if this is how she always talks to people and they said "yes" in one of the most pitiful tones I've heard. I promised them I would say something after my unpleasant experience, so I'm choosing not to disclose their identity but if they happen upon this and remember how I looked albeit with a mask, I want them to know again how much I appreciate their help. I was very upset by this experience at Safeway. I am posting here because I want to make the community aware of this facade that they are putting on to make customers "feel" like it's safe. It is not time to feign concern of the safety, health, and wellbeing of customers. It is not the time to treat each other with unkindness and disrespect. I hope that these issues are addressed and solved ASAP. read more

I love this Safeway always very clean and everyone is so pleasant. I drive out of my way to come to this Safeway when I do have other grocery stores closer to my home. Joe was on the self checkout today and I was standing in line for another lane with a checkout person, not self checkout. Joe saw a line was forming and he came over and said, "I can help you over here" I told him I don't like going in self checkout because of all my produce and he simply said, "I'm going to do it all for you". He packed and scanned all my groceries so fast and I was in and out. Thank you Joe and all the other staff at Safeway for always being so pleasant to be around. I personally have had horrible experiences here when it comes to customer service, but considering my oldest works at Frys we agreed to allow our 16yr old to apply here considering location was good. She had called the store yesterday 3/23 and spoke to a manager regarding applying, was told to go in today 3/24 for a hiring event. She arrived shortly after 10am and signed in. Let me add that during this time of a pandemic there was upwards of 20+ people waiting to be interviewed and absolutely NO sanitary precautions. She waits about 40-45min to be called up only to be told they are not hiring for front end positions, which with her being only 16 is the only position she could apply for. So to recap, not only does she sign in, wait for almost an hour around several people with no resource of sanitizer or sanitizing wipes etc. but then to be called up and not even acknowledged, her resume not even looked at!? This place has officially lost all respect from me and my family and I will share this review with every social media site, better business, market supervisors etc. The absolute LACK of customer care this store shows is overwhelmingly disappointing! read more

I'm 66 and have shopped at Safeway my whole adult life. I moved to Queen Creek in March and shop at the Queen Creek Safeway. Nine times out of ten this store doesn't have one, two or three items that other Safeways in my past always carried!! They didn't even have broccoli one time, for God's sakes. The l next week they didn't have artichokes. They didn't have Aunt Penny's Hollandaise sauce or the brand of Fancy Feast cat food that I always buy. They didn't have Dave's bread or English muffins on certain trips, and they NEVER have Lloyd's ribs, which are a staple in my household. One time, the 2% milk looked like it had been ransacked! It was depleted to the point that the few left were pushed back so far you couldn't reach them, and of course no one around to assist. But most astonishing were the packaged items in the soup aisle, such as you would use to make au jus, brown gravy or Knorr's soup. It looked like a tornado had wiped out that section, And it's still that way weeks later!! Lots of items are missing and those that were there are in the wrong section or even upside down! No one had restocked this area or tended to it in ages!! This is the most poorly-managed grocery store I've ever been in!! Period. One compliment, though, is that the store's hired a slew of young people and everyone is affable, efficient and knows where all the items are! I love all these recent young new-hires!! But WTF!! The way they ring things up, they are trying to confuse you and try to not ask questions, the clerks are irritated because you inquire and the prices are wrong and always in Safeways favor. So Buyer beware Watch those prices. I've really wanted to like this store because it is the closest to my home. However, I almost always leave without most of the things that were on my 'have to list'. Even staple items like chocolate milk, cottage cheese, jello, eggs, chicken breast, etc. have been 'out'. Super frustrating. Not one to ever write a review, but I just used the Safeway delivery service for the first time and boy am I impressed!! The app was very easy to shop through, picking my delivery time was easy, and checkout was a breeze. The prices are the same as the store, I still get my card discounts, and because I picked a two hour delivery window, I saved $3 bucks on delivery. I will say that for being 5 months pregnant, record heat this weekend, and a 3 1/2 year old at home, this is by far worth the delivery charge of $9.95. I picked the delivery window of 1p- 3p and he was at my door at around 1:45p. The delivery guy was friendly and even helped bring the packages into the kitchen. I come here a lot just because it is the closest grocery store to my house. My biggest gripe is that because I usually shop at night they seem to not be stocked as well in the produce department so I have to kind of pick over what has already been picked over.
