Some changes need to be put in place here. The employees seem to be really nice people and willing to help if needed. But I have now come across a second item just laden with mold. We shopped on 9/1 when the bread was purchased but I didn't notice it till the next day 9/2. I returned to the store and a gentleman named Christopher assisted me. He was very apologetic very customer service oriented and friendly. He refunded the amount for the bread and then gave me a replacement on the house. Thank you for going above and beyond but if anyone in management reads these please implement some changes or at the very least insure that your procedures and FIFO rules are being followed. I feel the force of supposition forcing my fingers to type this quick but much deserved review. I just ran back from purchasing my lunch there: a small bag of ready-made salad from Fresh Express for $2.98 ($1.00 off coupon), a jar of the Marie's Ranch dressing ($3.99), and a bunch of major green bananas (.99 cents a pound) that would ripen over the weekend. Service here is pretty quick and efficient, even though at times, there are large hordes of employees from surrounding businesses that stop by for forgotten items (potlucks) and donuts (early morning meetings) and just to pick up necessary items before hitting the horrendous traffic-from-hell movement both ways on 50. Their soup bar is pretty good (usually get the Italian Wedding soup) during the colder months although their Chinese food bar is kind of gross (bland, tasteless, and not like the Bel Air Chinese food)......oh, and did I mention a Starbucks? I have a running tab of 6 drinks, after purchasing my 7th here, I get one free! Get there early for hot drinks in the morning, sometimes the line runs 10 people deep. Staff are friendly, I have yet to experience a negative experience, other than the stranger trying to pick up on me in the bakery aisle, but I'm addicted to that Italian Wedding Soup with little balls of pasta floating around. read more

I frequently come into this Safeway Starbucks. Brooke? I think her name is. Safeway Starbucks barista in the morning gave me an awful look and attitude when I asked her if she could remove the cheese from the sandwich I had ordered as I am lactose intolerant and can't have it. She questioned me about it and then gave me a rude "ok". I should not have gotten that response as I am just politely asking for no cheese and for her to do her job. Being polite might get you more tips in the long run. read more

I love this Safeway! Its a little bit of a drive from my house, but it is so worth it. Safeway has all sorts of buy one, get one free items every single week. My last shopping trip, I walked out of there paying only $65 for about $120 worth of stuff. They have everything that I need, every single time. The only downside is that this store is right next door to Walmart and on occasion, one of those freaky ass Walmart people stumbles over and asks for crack money as you load your groceries into the car. The produce at this store is substantially lower in quality than most of the other Safeway stores I have shopped (even worked) at. They have been out of stock of asparagus numerous times. The overall quality is just low. I still shop here for other non perishable items, but I do not even walk through the produce section anymore. read more

When we lived in Rancho we went here frequently. Its a clean store and they have most everything you want. My biggest complaint is the prices, Safeways is EXPENSIVE unless you only buy what is on sale which isnt always possible. Also a lot of the meat they advertise in the sale ad they dont even have in the store. The customer service is also lacking, theres never anyone to help you and only a few of the cashiers are friendly. read more

Regular Safeway store, nothing super special. For some reason I never seem to have good experiences at this chain. I typically go in the evening and the place appears to be run by a bunch of teenagers talking about getting wasted and how they cant wait to get off work. I've noticed I RARELY come here anymore. First off, I'm an embarrassing pinky white color-and the security guard has followed and stared, yet ignored me when I ask where things are kept(why not?) , literally every single time he's there.. it's not racially driven, he just sucks. So disappointed right now. I went to this store tonight really excited to take advantage of their one day only sale which featured 750 ml bottles of Ketel One Vodka for 9.99 limit 3. After spending significant time and money including buying some items for Thanksgiving I went to the checkout lane and was told "these bottles don't wring up on sale" the courtesy clerk then placed the bottles behind her register and continued to wring up my items. When I asked her if she would honor the advertised coupon she ignored me and again continued ringing my items. I told her there was a full display with the sale items and she didn't attempt to explain further and refused to ring the items up. Fed up I paid for my other purchases and asked for the store manager. I was told by another clerk "he is at lunch" and she proceeded to walk in and out of the office throwing away donut boxes and didn't bother to assist me. Very upset since this was my 3 visit to this location spending well in excess of 100 over the last 3 weeks. Guess I will have to shop elsewhere. This place is so frustrating. Its so busy today that there are no shopping carts available except the few scattered in the parking lot. Had to roam around and find one. Once in the store i noticed dogs. No less than three dogs; two large pit bulls and a small shitzu. None wearing service dog coats. I'm not impressed with this Safeway at all. I rarely come here or even think to come here. Items are very overpriced and shelves aren't stocked well. Also the overall atmosphere here is just doom and gloom. I feel very depressed shopping at this Safeway and icky after I leave the store. It also probably doesn't help that it's located next to the Walmart. I know some reviewers love the location, but I don't. What the heck is wrong with this location? Pay attention to your frequent shoppers. I come here at least once a week and spend over a hundred each visit. Based on the color of my skin I know I'll be judged, so I do the obvious I grab a cart instead of a hand basket, I hold product away from my body, I never carry a hand bag or backpack, no large jackets, Jesus I even choose the self check out closest to the employee. Tonight was just ridiculous! Got followed all the way to self check out. manager - "you got her?"Self check out employee - "yeah I got her". Self check out employee proceeds to sing Eminem guess who's back, back again.... It got my Attention and I realized I was the only person at self check out. After I finished my transaction I started to walk out. The manager asked the self check employee "so was that her?" Self check employee- "I don't even know anymore". NO! MF! Not me! It was never me! You guys are a freaking joke. How dare you! I hope you guys review your cameras, receipts, and how frequently I shop at this location and realize you lost a loyal customer. I came in to buy a cake for my son last minute. I understand the bakery closed at 8:00. It was 8:20 when I arrived. I went over to the first employee I saw which was a Woman with dark brown hair and a few streaks of blonde. I asked if there was anyone who could help me in the bakery as I needed a cake that was ready in the case. Her response was"gonna be tough. They closed at 8." I replied ok I'll go wait at the bakery department. Waited over 15 min. Decided my business wasn't wanted to I'm going else where. What happened to your customer service? To be fair my two star rating has nothing to do with this store, in fact it has a nice seafood, wine & produce sections. We live 5 blocks away and used to shop here all the time and were happy to see the addition of the gas station. We now drive to other stores, Bel Air or the International market just to avoid the panhandlers. Last time there I was hit up at the gas station and going in & out of the Safeway One flipped me off when I said no. Most of the time its getting into or out of my car. I know there are rehab/halfway homes nearby and wish them well.........I just don't want to be approached or have my wife and daughters deal with this type of behavior. So tired of this place at 8 or 9 PM they never have a second regular checkstand open cause they're too cheap to staff it. I also had a lovely worker wrap flowers and do a ballon bouquet She took her time on both flowers and balloons she did a wonderful job she really cared about what I wanted and how it looked she took the extra step in what I wanted. read more

I go here alot working in the area. Have never had any problems. Staff are friendly and professional. The establishment is cleaned well. The selection and prices are good. The eating area has subs, Chinese food, and many other choices. One request if any manager or owner reads this: would it be possible to add a salad bar? Highly recommended. read more

What a terrible visit. I was just there at 11pm and bought some groceries and checked the leftover Christmas area to see if they had these little Santa/reindeer or snowman statues they had a few weeks earlier for $9.99. I had bought one but wanted to buy another. As I was about to give up I found one shoved to the back of the Christmas section where it was 75% off. So went to check out and a Hawaiian man with long hair up in a pony tail/ man bun was checking me out. No enthusiasm whatsoever I mean I understand it's the end of the night but a hi or hello how u doing isn't going hurt anybody. It takes as much of effort to seem grumpy as it does to say hi. I told him the little statue didn't have a tag and I looked all over for others with no avail. He said it wasnt on clearance with the rest of the Christmas stuff and that in order to buy it I had to buy 4 cards. I told him that I just bought one a week or two ago and I got it for 999 so he suspended my order to send the bagger to show me where the sign was with the rest of the statues well we got there there was no sign there was no other statues like I had already said I was the last one. and then when we got back to the register he was helping other people at the which is just fine but he just continued doing it for the next 5 ppl as I'm just standing there like I'm invisible and the only reason I left the register was because I wanted to actually physically follower the bagger to where the so called sign was because I really wanted this statue. So finally after he's done helping everybody and I'm the last person standing there he decides to finish helping me and tells me that there was no sign I said yes I know so I said is it for sale or not? He says yeah but I won't sell it to you for any less than like $12. I'm really annoyed at this point.But I didn't want to argue and I really wanted the statue. And most importantly we shouldn't feel like we are bothering someone at their workplace where they are there to do a job. You carry items in your store that u want to sell, if it's a Christmas item and it says that Christmas items are on sale it shouldn't be an issue when someone's trying to purchase it. but this man made it his mission to make getting this stupid statue a headache. I honestly wish I didn't buy it, this whole experience left a sour taste in my mouth. Tomorrow I will drive to the one on el Camino and buy the other statue your store didn't have for around $3. read more

I went to the Arden Safeway since I always missed over this jewel ... yes, jewel. I love Safeway and how cheap everything can be. Everything I want is located here for a reasonable price (unlike Raleys), and there are enough employees that when I go during rush-time the lines aren't that long. The parking lot, however, may be a little bit confusing. Just make sure that no one swerves around the corner too quick. :) read more

I shop here frequently whether it's for just an item or two or a full grocery shopping trip. I have VERY mixed feelings about this location. It is close to me & therefore it is convenient, & I do like the app & the deals they offer, however that says nothing of this specific Safeway, just the company as a whole & the placement of a building. As for this particular Safeway location, I have had several experiences that were highly undesirable. First off, when I was 8.5 months pregnant, I went into this location around 7:30/8pm to grab a few things. I grabbed some of the items I needed & then realized I needed a basket. I looked at the end of every checkout & at each end of the store, walking back & forth struggling to hold the items I had with my huge pregnant belly. The male Employee at the Self Checkout saw me & watched me yet offered no help at all. When I approached him to ask where I could find a basket, he told me if I couldn't find any there probably weren't any. I couldn't go outside for a cart because I had several unpaid items in my arms & being a VERY pregnant woman who had already walked all over the store for a basket, I really didn't want to have to find someplace to set everything down, go outside to find a cart, come back, & load my items. Not one employee offered to help me that evening & at least 3 clearly saw me struggling, in fact I even dropped a few items at one point & still, no help. Also, one several occasions I have seen & heard the employees talking amongst themselves & neglecting their stations/duties. I can't tell how many times I've been at Self Checkout waiting for the person assigned to assist to help me with something because they were too busy talking to other employees about things that clearly were not work related. Additionally, I have called this location at least 3 times before about an issue or inquiry & every single time it seems I am waiting at least 5-10 minutes before an actual live person gets on the phone & that person is almost always rude, unpleasant, & I can clearly hear in their voice that they'd rather not listen to a damn thing I have to say. Let me close by saying, I am not one to complain. I understand people have bad days, sometimes people are still in training or don't really know how to handle a situation at all which is why I typically let things slide the first couple of times, however, this is not just one person or one incident, it is multiple. This location, with the exception of maybe 5 employees, has terrible Guest Service. (Of whom I have seen at least, that's not to say there's some I've never seen/met who are also great.) It really sucks because I do love the app & the Just for U deals, but at this point I'm sick of feeling like my presence is a burden to the staff & I would much rather take my business to a place where I feel welcomed & comfortable. Last, but not least, shout out to the tatted girl who went on Maternity Leave a while back. She was always amazing, she was great with my Son, & he always loved seeing her when we were there. We always made a point to go in her line when we went shopping & she was the main reason we kept going to this store, but since she's left it's just always a negative & unwelcoming experience. Time for new staff or some extra training on proper Guest Service, but unfortunately it's many of the Managers as well. read more

The prices here are crazy good. That is the best part. Lower than all the places I pass to come here. Whenever I am in the Rancho area I come by here to fill up. Even the airport super shuttle fills up here along with other commercial trucks and vans. The station is pretty clean and swept up and with newer looking pumps. The minimart has the usual snacks and drinks and is so close to the pumps if you want to pay with cash. The restroom, there is one, is unisex and you need a key but it is generally clean. There are 16 pumps and most are busy but no lines most of the time. The clientele is mixed. Sometimes a panhandler will come up to you but most people are just working people getting their errands done. Great gas prices at this stop make this place tops. read more

I never had a problem with the pharmacy until I met Chip. Chip refuses to answer any of my questions due to the color of my skin. He said he's wasn't going to answer any of my questions since I was beneath him and come back tomorrow when someone else is here. Really decent for a Rancho Cordova store. I'd like to see more already prepared options in the meat and seafood section. I really like what they offer at the downtown Safeway and wish it was more like that. I tell the butcher guys this every time I'm there for like years. I was hoping they would pass that along to someone important. Maybe offer tuna poke or other mixed meat options. I've been staying in Rancho Cordova for work the last 3 weeks. There are dozens of homeless people all over the store. Don't even think about using the restrooms here while shopping. The homeless haVe turned each bathroom stall into their personal house. They live inside the bathrooms here. It looks like a 3rd work country. My wife and daughter attempted to use the women's restroom and it was full of homeless as well. They ask for money outside and inside of the store. Homeless are taking up all of the seats next to Starbucks as well. Management was made aware and just smiled when I told them about it as if they were completely acceptant of this. I usually think of Safeway as a step above other grocery stores but please steer clear of this one. read more

I live right down the street and come here all the time. The associates are always friendly, the isles are always organized, the produce is always fresh and the angels who make my sandwiches take excellent direction-- REGARDLESS of how strange those directions are. To elaborate: If you ever find yourself with a taste for adventure. . . try their cheddar crusted bread roll with chipotle sauce, pepperjack cheese, lettuce, onion, peppercinis and pickles; and then have them melt it ALL (yes, even the lettuce) in the toaster. This review is for the Safeway Gas Station on Folsom Blvd, not for the actual supermarket. This is one of the newest gas stations in Sacramento and has some of the cheapest prices around. The station is clean and modern, and lacks the crazy busyness of Costco or ARCO. You get a discount for using Debit and can use your Safeway rewards. They also have a small convenience store with bottled drinks and snacks. All gas in California must meet stringent performance standard with no real difference between brands, but the price and cleanliness of the storage tanks do matter. I use this station often, and my car and wallet both love it! read more

I love this place. Every time I come here the staff is friendly and helpful, especially when they see me wandering up and down the isles in confusion, as I try to look for an item. You can get some good deals with your Safeway Club Card but this place, in general, is still pricey. I wouldn't do all my grocery shopping here, since there are other stores that are obviously cheaper but it's a nice place to drop into when you need to buy a few things. I also like how spacious the actual store is. Oh, and they have amazing deli sandwiches for about $5 or so. I used to come here for lunch, sometimes, when I got sick of the usual Zinfandel Village restaurants. Their deli also has very good and fresh meat. As far as Safeway stores go this one is pretty good. Pro's: -Safeway gas station and a Bank of America in the same parking lot. -Cashiers are friendly, speedy and go the extra mile -Produce section is generally well stocked and has an avg amount of organic. -Bakery is stocked with all kinds of different bread and cakes, etc. -Hot chinese food is pretty good, chicken with mushrooms and lemon chicken and smells unbelievable every time I walk by it near the deli when it's out. $10 Shanghai special that they pack up for you I believe comes with 2 items and fried rice. -Meat and Seafood section usually has a person back there to help so you don't have to ring a buzzer and wait around a lot. They have a good selection of grass fed steaks and lamb. Their grass fed ground beef is on sale frequently for $4.99 lb which they wrap up for you, and their grass fed nitrate free super thick cut Applewood smoked bacon or Applewood smoked pepper bacon for $5.99 lb is the best bacon I have ever had! Not kidding. Whole Dungeness crabs were recently on sale for $3.99 lb and they even clean the crabs for you free of charge. Thick cut Rib eye steaks occasionally on sale for $7.99 lb. Con's: -Produce section could use more organic items and more produce bags to put them in. -Got a couple lobster tails from the seafood section, not fresh. Tossed. -Prices can be a bit steep for regular items that would be cheaper at Walmart. -Parking lot near an always busy Walmart that I try to avoid unless i'm grabbing a lot. -Not a 24 hr Safeway store. read more
