The manager just shrugged and said, "I can do nothing." Knowing that receipts can be printed from the back office, I politely asked if they could do that for me. The manager made an obvious face of disgust. To make matters worse, both the cashier and the manager repeatedly interrogated me--asking three times each--if I really needed a receipt, which made me feel extremely uncomfortable. In the end, there was no apology, no "Thank you for waiting," and the manager practically threw the printed receipt at me. As a customer, being treated with such rudeness and disrespect is completely unacceptable. I will definitely think twice before coming back to this location.

I found a tea section to be well stocked. I also recognize some of the tea brands. 99 Ranch has gone with lower cost options, but if you buy 6 ounces of tea, are you gonna be stuck with an enormous supply. Better to go with reliable brands that I have enjoyed in the past. I loved the produce section. It was nice and fresh. It also had wider selection of produce than other supermarkets. The store itself is stunning. The the aisles are spacious. The store is meticulously clean. The shelves are fully stocked. There were only about two items which were shopped out. The snack area and the frozen foods were even more interesting. It's obvious in those two sections that there were many more Korean brands. I should've tried some, but it's hard for me to resist snacks and there was a good chance that would finish the entire bag in one go. Better to skip it entirely. The parking lot for the supermarket is spacious. I had no trouble finding a spot even though I arrived in the late afternoon when everybody has gotten off work. I live about two hours away. And I am very jealous because there is no Hankook near me.

They also have a lot of prepared foods, snack foods, etc. Everything is reasonably priced. They do have a large enough parking lot, and usually we park on the side to avoid the chaos.

Each package has 8 pieces and a packet of shoyu. After trying both, the kimchi version won me over a bit more. The other option is lighter in flavor, and I'm a fan of bold and spicy food. Adding the shoyu helps, but I could easily eat all the kimchi ones alone. I'm not sure I'd get them often, but I like having an option in the grab and go section for when I'm short on time and hungry. They also added some Pulmone vegan-friendly microwave dumplings to the frozen section, so I got those too. I noticed some plant-based bulgogi kimbap in the frozen section, but I decided to skip them because I'm iffy about the textures of frozen kimbap. I love when grocery stores have vegan-friendly options! I hope this means they'll start adding more vegan-friendly options in the grab and go hot food section. A tofu and veggie rice bowl would be nice!

PUBLIC SAFETY ALERT: On Friday March 13th 2020 I went to my local Safeway near SCU to buy cases of bottled water b/c apparently the masses at Safeway on Homestead AND the Target on El Camino at Scott Blvd. had gone MAD over the National Flumergency. I'm standing there in an aisle that was feeding BOTH Express Lanes. (I checked 1st to make sure there was no line feeding the right side Xpress lane.) I was probably the 3rd or 4th in the line in the grocery aisle behind the 3 or 4 each that "fit" in the register lines w/o blocking the main aisle "cross street". Both Express lanes were moving GLACIALLY slow, (?) A 20-30-something Safeway employee, (a thick white woman with unkempt wavy long hair) knowingly placed TWO men in front of me, one in each of the two express lanes, without saying ANYTHING to (or looking at) We The People waiting in line, as I was next in this line that was feeding both express lanes. They both looked homeless, so I was ok with this. (I know Safeway may have a policy of trying to help the homeless, so as not to offend those who may be offended by the homeless.) But the line in front of me wasn't moving AT ALL, ... and on TOP of that (ten minutes had already gone by) it looked like they were trying to do a shift change or send someone on break. So when I tried to queue up in the other express lane behind the other (presumably) homeless guy, apparently a line had formed down the other grocery aisle during the 10 minutes or MORE that I had been waiting, and UNLIKE I HAD DONE, NOBODY BOTHERED TO CHECK if there was already a HUGE line feeding BOTH express lanes. Some lady jumped all over me and I said "sorry, no more cuts, I've already yielded to 2 line jumpers." So the (presumably homeless) A$$HOLE in front of me whips around and YELLS "NO ... YOU'RE NOT TAKING CUTS IN FRONT OF THIS WOMAN!!!" so I started to square him up on the proper social graces while the flustered woman who hadn't bothered to check on our side (she's standing in front of a line which wasn't there 10 min. ago, ... I checked 1st) keeps going off about how flustered she is that I'M cutting the line, ... so to be chivalrous I said to the a$$hole "ok, you're right, 2 wrongs don't make a right" but as I said it I was walking towards him as I was apologizing and he yelled out "GET THE PHUCK AWAY FROM ME, DUDE!!!!" as if I was threatening HIM. Now, keep in mind that this guy is about 3x my size in height AND muscle, kinda "rough" looking with an East Coast accent, but ... NOT obviously mentally ill and NOT obviously homeless as it turns out, i.e. he WASN'T talking to himself and buying 2 HUGE Corona beers like the guy in front of my closest lane, ... Ok, I let the woman go in front of me and went back in "my" line but I LOST it a little (a lot) and re-educated EVERYONE in the store in a very booming and assertive voice that ... ("SNOWFLAKE TRIGGER ALERT") How WRONG it is that everyone is blaming TRUMP for this pandemic when the entire world KNOWS that southern COMMUNIST China has been the birthplace and disease source / vector for deadly pandemic flu viruses for DECADES, ... across multiple administrations, AND NOBODY HAS EVER DONE ANYTHING ABOUT IT. Not the COMMUNIST Chinese government, not the failed socialist nation-states of the United Nations, not the WHO, not the CDC, not the US Gov't, not the G7, ... NOBODY HAS DONE ANYTHING TO CONTAIN THE COMMUNIST CHINESE SOURCE of these viruses. So you're all panicking while Bernie and Biden and the ENTIRE Dem party from Pelosi on down to Newsom and all these Kalifornia SHEEPLE BLAME IT ALL ON TRUMP !?!?!?!?" We all have jobs and/or places to be, especially when the masses are melting down and panicking irrationally. Safeway shouldn't be randomly PLACING cutters in line unless it is OBVIOUS that they need preferential treatment, as the OTHER obviously mentally ill guy in front of me clearly needed. ESPECIALLY when everyone's stressing about loading up on TP and sanitizer, apparently. Someone ALMOST GOT HURT ... AND IT WOULDN'T HAVE BEEN ME, and I would've been made out to be the bad guy, and I would've SUED Safeway. So ... STAY AWAY FROM THE SAFEWAY NEAR Santa Clara University until the National and State Emergency is over, because they are letting people jump the line that have NO RIGHT TO DO SO. The Safeway on the Alameda is a fuckin piece of shit!! I am sooo fed up with this Safeway and I am pretty sure its the shittiest Safeway on the face of the planet. Here are my complaints: 1. Rotten produce: If it is not already rotting and festering on their shelves the fruits and veggies from this store are bound to go bad within a few days or even within hours after purchase. FUCK THAT 2. Lousy diary products: Over 50% of the milk I got here had gone sour when I bought it, even though the printed expiry date was weeks in the future. Maybe the reefer unit on the truck is broken, but either way I can't believe these fucktards get away with it. 3. Poor selection of everything: This store is maybe twice the size of a 7 eleven and definitely twice as shitty, there are never enough good cuts of meat in stock and the chip section is absolutely despicable. When it comes to stocking a variety of chips these fuckers don't know their asshole from their elbow. They only have 1 or 2 variety of Tim's Cascade Style and 1 or 2 of Kettle! What the fuck?!?? Don't you know those are the best kinds of chips ever you bumbling nimrods??!! 4. Long late night lines of ugly, bad smelling people: Why the fuck does this place attract every cat lady, wino and single obese mother with 3 screaming kids on welfare buying crisco, ramen and little debbie snack cakes using food stamps taking forever to pay cause they are to fuckin retarded to do basic math??! They all swarm to this store starting at 11:30 and into the wee hours of the morning just like flies swarming a fresh piece of dog shit. The checkout line reeks of urine, mildew and cigarettes. 5. 1.5 stars I seriously cannot understand why people do their shopping here. The only time I ever come in here is to pick up something that Trader Joe's doesn't sell (body wash, dog food, etc.). Even when I'm just coming in to grab a couple of thing I find the experience miserable. The produce here is never even close to the freshness you find at Trader Joe's, and the same goes for the meat/fish sections. I could understand why people shop here if it was cheaper, but the craziest part is TJ's prices tend to be lower than Safeway .... in other words the food is lower quality and more expensive... seriously what are people who shop here thinking? Safeway never has enough registers open either. During the day the lines are longer than they should be, but at night it can get ridiculous. I've been here a number of times where the line was over ten people long because they only had one aisle open. Even the parking lot at this location is terrible. There is never any open spots and the layout of the lot was designed by an idiot. To all the crazy people who shop here: Wake up and try Trader Joe's, you're food will twice as good and you will cut down on your grocery bill in the process. read more

Safeway across from Santa Clara University is an Oppressive Racist Store. It abuses its Friday night (8pm - 11pm) Santa Clara University students alongside its regular customers by having us stand in line; 30 to 50 abreast with only two cashier lanes open. How long has this been going on? Try since 2003 when I started shopping there. This location offers a standard selection of food items. From baked goods to produce to snacks...it covers the basics. Yet, I often struggle to find the specific products I need, especially gluten free options, which can make shopping here a tad frustrating. The store itself seems outdated. I often go to this store, but foods are all fresh. People are pretty nice, this store is my favorite!

The people are always so kind and helpful. They walk me to the aisle I am looking for when I ask where a product is. It is always bright and cheery with fresh flowers at the entrance ( for sale) but I imagine they are for my welcome. I do miss the complimentary coffee they offered before the pandemic though. The fall seasonal items are in! Fall is my favorite season and we got some cute little pumpkins for decorating and also their seasonal chocolates. I love coming here on the weekend after my morning swim class. It always cheers me up and I feel grateful for being able to come and shop here. Parking is abundant and very easy. Also close to other stores like sprouts, target and EV charging stations. Highly recommend this location specifically. PS- this location is especially nice to kids, they always hand out abundant stickers and lollipops to my kids and they look forward to it very much. I think shopping here will be their core childhood memories! It certainly is mine with them!

I choose organic eggs and milk, which are a fraction of the cost at other stores. They have such a fun and wide selection of snacks and beverages! I like how they carry many Asian and European products, and specialty jams and jellies. Their cosmetic/beauty aisle even has Korean skincare products, clean soaps, and higher quality shampoos and conditioners. I've been to other Grocery Outlets, and each store has its own vibe. A month ago, I had a pretty scary experience at this Sprouts location, and I want to recognize…read moreDillon, the manager, for how he handled it. Everything happened very quickly. I started feeling faint and ended up sitting on the checkout counter to avoid passing out on the floor. Dillon immediately stepped in. He brought me water, got me a chair, and stayed with me while making sure I was okay. After I passed out a second time, they called paramedics because they were concerned it could be something more serious. Throughout all of it, Dillon stayed calm, attentive, and incredibly kind. As I was being taken out in the ambulance, he had already packed up my groceries. I tried to quickly pay, and he told me it was on the house. That level of care and thoughtfulness meant a lot, especially in such a stressful moment. I came back afterward to say thank you, and I wanted to leave this review so he gets the recognition he deserves. Dillon handled everything with genuine care and professionalism, and it made a difficult situation feel much safer.
