A MUST STOP, especially if you're in the area or if you're eating at the Euro Grill next door. The older gentleman manning the shop was taking a break outside, saw us approaching, and immediately went to open up. It's a cute and cozy shop filled to the brim with European goodies. Lots and lots of chocolate and snacks (gummies, candies, biscuits, cookies, etc.), dried pasta, sauces, soup mixes, and so much more. Definitely a lot to look and and the variety is top notch with lots that are difficult to find elsewhere if you're not specifically at a European market. While checking out, I was eyeballing some of the chocolates that they had at the counter and the gentleman working was super nice enough to give my boyfriend and I some samples. Super friendly, welcoming, and giving the best grandpa vibes ever. I got some tea biscuits of various sizes and some really fun looking Garfield hazelnut wafer cookies and my boyfriend got himself some pasta and dried soups. After coming back from Europe I wanted some of the food I got from Europe in terms of snacks, and this place had it all. A much higher price in Europe, but it's imported and it's legit. The owner is super helpful and friendly and helped us the entire time. Great guy. Also a reminder that most of the food is from the Balkans, so be prepared for that. Good store for products from the Balkans and Central Europe: Macedonia, Turkey, Croatia, Bosnia, Serbia, Germany, etc. Offered products vary every time I visit, but there are a few staples including ajvar, sujuk, Kraš products, Vegeta, etc. The prices are in the expensive end compared to other comparable markets across the Bay Area, but it also has the highest concentration of Balkan products. The shopkeeper is really nice and helpful, he like to chat with you, and always tries to sell you some more products than what you originally came from by offering all sorts of goods. He also gives folks a few small chocolates for free (typically krem-banana or Životinsko Carstvo), which is a very lovely gesture. The hours of the store are a bit limited, so I highly recommend calling before you go. read more

Great little store and the owner is so incredibly nice. On the day I came there wasn't that many goods on offer as they were expecting their latest shipment however the owner was able to tell me what they would normally have in stock and color me impressed! Why have I waited this long to visit this store?! They got all of your favorite snacks from east and west Europe. As soon as I walked in, I saw an ice box full of Dadu ice cream and cheesecake treat, which reminded me of the time I was a little girl. The owner was beyond nice. Held the door open for me to come in, explained the store a bit and continued to talk to me throughout my visit. After I filled my basket and checked out, he gave me a free loaf of their homemade bread to try. "Since it's your first time here, I'd you to try one," he said. Soooo freaking nice of him. I live in SF and trekked to Euro Grill today to bring home fresh Bosnian food to surprise my husband...and was happy to see Euro Market just a few doors down. It's a small shop with staples from the Balkans. I was able to purchase fresh lapina (what a treat, we haven't had fresh lapina in years), kaymak, frozen sirnica and cevapi...my husband was so excited because he had been talking about making cevapi at home for the last few months and was thinking about having it shipped from Chicago. The shop keeper was also very kind, he gave me a couple extra treats to bring back to the kiddos. Looking forward to returning. read more

If you're from anywhere Balkans (former Yugoslavia) this place is for you. While there are one or two other stores in the Bay Area that carry 'our' food, Euro Market is by far the best. The selection is awesome: cevapi, somun, ABC sir, cokolino, kajmak, Kroki Kroket...you name it. I come here every time when I am in the South Bay and the service is beyond excellent. If you don't speak Croatian/Bosnian/Serbian the communication might be a bit difficult but Nele will make sure to hook you up so you get the feel what Bosnian hospitality is all about. Yes, I love chocolate as much as a 40-year-old, mom of 4, on a PMS meltdown. Even more than Willy Wonka on his 7th glass of absinthe in the middle of Amsterdam on smoke-all-the-weed-you-want week (which just happens to be every week). If I could somehow transform chocolate molecules into oxygen, I would breathe it. If I could transform those same molecules into H20, I would bathe in it. Heck, if Osama Bin Laden was made of chocolate, there would be no doubt that he'd be found already (although I would have eaten him by now)! As you can see, I love chocolate. Dark, Milk, White, whatever. I do have certain favorites though and European chocolates are one of them. Especially ones from a company called Kinder. They're part of the Ferrero Rocher company. Kinder makes all different kinds of candy. One of my favorites is a candy called Kinder Bueno. It's basically a wafer kind of candy and it is GOO-OOD! But, they also make Kinder Country, Kinder Eggs (which strangely enough has a toy in the middle of the chocolate), and Kinder Delice. Wanna try them? Well, you have 2 choices, either fly all the way to Europe and buy them or come to Euro Market. Thanks to a tip from my friend (Thanks Mediha), I came here to get my Kinder fix. Holy crap, I was in heaven when I walked in. All I saw were shelves of candy and cookies with no legible English. Now, you know that's going to be good stuff. And it is! What are you still reading this for?!?! Go get some Kinder Bueno NOW!! Oh wait, hold on. Just to let you know, the parking lot is small and is mostly filled with "compact" spaces. You might have to park on the street. I think the store might also go by the name Black Bull. Also, the store is super small too. Who cares, most of it is filled with sugary goodness! I believe the store is ran by people from Bosnia and the English isn't great. But, they knew just enough to ring up my order and recommend other goodies. this shop is super tiny, and is located in a converted victorian, so its really easy to miss. despite its small size (about 3 small bedrooms Id say) they manage to pack in a massive amount of Eastern European food. I was pretty excited when I came in here. Its also super clean and really reasonably priced. I'm a whore for sugar, so I ended up with a box of turkish delight ($3.99), a quart of sour cherry juice ($2.99) and a bag of sour herring candies ($2.50), for my friend soon to be moving to Scandinavia. the focus is heavily on canned/packaged foods and desserts, but you can get a lot of random Slavic food basics as well. The girl who worked there spoke perfect English and gave me some candy when I was perusing it by the register. read more

Awesome gyros! I came here today for lunch with my husband since he has been raving about it for a while. When you walk into the restaurant, you feel like you are in someone's dining room. It's small and quaint. I love the decor! The menu is simple and affordable. We both ordered the gyro which came with fries. The gyro was a little different when what I have had before. The bread is different and you can't eat it holding it. It's more of a fork and knife gyro. The bread is super tasty and the gyro meat is some of the best I have had. The perfect amount of onions on it too. Loved the fries too...super crispy the way I like them! I would definitely be back again and again....it's not too far from work either which will make it a nice lunch spot. The market is a few doors down and has tons of fun treats and Eastern European foods to select from. I like their selection of teas and candies. Definitely check this place out! A month ago, I was at work one day and my Bosnian coworker offered me a piece of hazelnut chocolate (Kinder brand Shoko-Bons, recommend those who like hazelnut flavored chocolates). I thought it was sooo good I asked her where she got it and she told me, the Euro Market. I didn't have to go long and far to find it, but I did have to drive a little ways to get here and it was totally worth it! First experience there (a month ago): I decided to share the joy and brought my sisters with me to check it out. I was forewarned by my colleague that it was in somewhat of a small Victorian house plaza type of place so it wasn't TOO hard for me to find. But do keep your eyes out if it's your first time. The store itself is quite small, but it did seem to have a wide variety of candy, crackers, coffee etc, all imported. There is NO English on any of the wrappers; it's got to be authentic! =) Most of the time, I looked at the picture in front and basically attempted to figure out what it was. Be prepared that the owner does not speak much English or at least doesn't speak it well. However, he does try really hard to be helpful and shows you where the more popular selling candies are etc. SUPER nice guy. I just wish I could communicate with him better. The whole time we were there, he gave us 2 candy samples and a free bananko when we left! And for the record, we did buy a good handful of chocolates. Have not tried the bananko yet, but I do recommend the Shoko-Bons I mentioned above, and Kinder Buenos. I really enjoy them and you can't get it anywhere else! His mere kind gesture of the free bananko and free samples totally made my day! Earlier today, I went next door to try their restaurant with my Bosnian colleague. I got the Sudzukice (4 thin hot sausages between two pieces of bread) served with a side of sour cream, raw white onions and their red sauce (I have no idea what it was, but it was tasty!) I expected the sausages to be spicier, but it was yummy nonetheless. The flavor was great and I really enjoyed the meal. If I had to describe the style of food, I would say it most closely resembles Mediterranean (forgive my naivety to those that think I'm totally off), but that is how I would describe it. This place is AMAZING!!! It is a one stop shop for all my Balkan food needs. They even have kajmak in the frozen foods!!!!!! I was mouth agape to see things like vajkrem (excellent on bread and sandwiches), lunch meats, smoked meats in Balkan and Hungarian styles, a variety of Vegeta (the best general seasoning) seasonings, proper kafa, instant soups and medicinal tea. I could have easily spent a few hundred (and will over time) outfitting my kitchen and wine rack. The owner is super helpful and kind. He insisted on helping us carry our loot to our car. Prices range from inexpensive to moderate. This is a steal consider that most items are imported from the Balkans and are very hard to find outside of the region. read more

Really fast update, and it isn't as though I gave them bad marks before, but oh my goodness, this is my new favorite place. I was surprised they were still open, but I came in at 7 pm hoping to get some loaves of that bread I loved. They were all out, and the man at the register asked how many I wanted, in case he found any in back. They were all out, but he gave me three loaves of a different kind of bread instead, and refused to take any payment for it. The bread was still warm and clearly just baked. I decided that I had purchased a lot foreign candy, but most of it was from Japan. I wanted to start buying candy from Europe, but I didn't know where to start. My friend gave me a suggestion, and from that suggestion I was led to finding Euro Market on Yelp. After reading the reviews, I knew this would be worth the trip. Okay, so the first day that I tried to find this place I got lost. I was pretty confused as I didn't realize how small this place really was. The second day I tried finding it, I looked at the picture of the area via Google Maps to make sure what it looked like. This place is tucked away among small businesses near a residential area. I got confused when after I parked and walked in as well. When I walked into Euro Market, but it looked like a restaurant and not a market. It wasn't until I spoke to an employee who directed me to where the market was. As previous reviewers have stated, this place is pretty small, but it is full of items ranging from cured meats, snacks, and best of all, candy. A lot of the labels were in a foreign language, so I decided to buy things based on pictures alone. The lady working there was very nice and said that I was "on the right track" with all the items I picked up. It seems like a lot of the customers here spoke a European language I wasn't familiar with with the employees. Now I know what it's like not being Asian and walking into an Asian market. Anyway, I bought a lot of candy and thought that I would be charged a lot. For the amount of candy I bought, it came down to only $25. That's quite a deal in my book. I mean, I usually by half as much for $30 at a Japanese market. All in all, this was a very good experience and I now have a new place to experiment with snacks and candy. If you ask the owner some of the stuff that they have in the frozen section they have fresh up front. It's all better fresh right? A huge group of locals came in and started speaking the language which of course made me think there might be some sort of organized shakedown. I am like a little child in candy land. They also have outside seating now. My friend and I chatted over some turkish coffee and cake while we waited for our cevapcici and had some Burek to go. The host/manager of Euro Grill invited me to come here after I placed my order through their restaurant....also I had to pay here for my meal too and wait for my food to be prepared...so why not do a little shopping while I wait? As soon as I walked in, I saw the cookies and the chocolate right by the door and I was hooked. Of course, they had other items like tea, oil, juices, but did I go check those out? Nope...it was all about the chocolates and cookies. Their inventory fluctuates on a weekly basis but I got one of the specialty Milka chocolate bars and the Casali chocolate banana wafers(see photos).
