Mega is clearly far and away the best Asian market in the Bay area... having said that, I do have some complaints but will give it the 5 stars it deserves. Let's start with the good, or I should say best. The sashimi here is the best of any Asian market bar none. You could even say better than some Sushi restaurants (I won't name them). Even some of the newer Asian markets like T&T have disgusting sashimi... to the point you can taste the ice bc they hadn't fully defrosted it. The only nit I have is bruh... stop putting the frickin plastic sauce packets right on top of the fish. Why? Why would you do that? Stop it. Come on. Why in the actual F would you do that? Ok, I know this sounds more like complaints but I do really like Mega Mart to be clear. 2 other issues: #1. Dude... what're you guys doing with the panchan? When did you start adding so much sugar and sugaring the F out of the panchan. This is not how it should be. Old Korean grandmas are literally turning in their graves with this sacrilege. Maybe panchan sales are falling, but you can be damn sure I will never buy this again with the amount of sugar you guys add. Like why? Why 50% sugar... seriously, this panchan candy bar nonsense makes no sense! #2. What happened to organic natto? Like bruh. You only had 1 brand left that was organic. Sure I could go to Nijiya and have a choice of 2, but I'm disappointed you guys stopped carrying the only organic natto you had. read more

The store is clean and well organized and the checkout woman is so friendly! She greets everyone and is super kind. I dropped by for my usual mushroom run and decided to peruse the aisles. I was excited to see that they now have a "Vegan Vegetable Mandu" offering in the hot food section. I had to grab both options to test them out : Unlimeat Kimchi Mandoo and Unlimeat Vegetable Mandoo. Each package has 8 pieces and a packet of shoyu. After trying both, the kimchi version won me over a bit more. The other option is lighter in flavor, and I'm a fan of bold and spicy food. Adding the shoyu helps, but I could easily eat all the kimchi ones alone. I'm not sure I'd get them often, but I like having an option in the grab and go section for when I'm short on time and hungry. They also added some Pulmone vegan-friendly microwave dumplings to the frozen section, so I got those too. I noticed some plant-based bulgogi kimbap in the frozen section, but I decided to skip them because I'm iffy about the textures of frozen kimbap. I love when grocery stores have vegan-friendly options! I hope this means they'll start adding more vegan-friendly options in the grab and go hot food section. I would consider Mega Mart a smaller yet more affordable version of H-Mart. The produce section was well maintained, though the fruit selection felt somewhat limited. The vegetables looked fresh, vibrant, and were packaged neatly. However, I did notice there were fewer juice and smoothie options than expected. Similarly, the meat and seafood sections were on the smaller side. There were standard cuts of beef and pork alongside a few marinated options, though less commonly used cuts were noticeably absent. There were reasonably priced salmon and tuna blocks available, but the selection of other fish and crustaceans was limited. That said, the seafood on display looked fresh, fatty, and high quality. There was a wide assortment of Asian frozen products and prices were noticeably a few dollars cheaper compared to other grocery stores nearby. As a dumpling and dim sum lover, I found myself gravitating toward the frozen section for quite some time. While most brands leaned Korean, there were still a variety of different Asian cuisines represented. There was also a bakery built into the store and the cakes looked beautiful. Most whole cakes were priced around $40. Unfortunately, the fried pastries were unavailable during my visit so I was unable to try the croquettes. The packaged baked goods also were not fully stocked despite my morning visit, which was one area that could be improved. I did enjoy the roasted sweet potato station though, which gave this corner of the store a warm and inviting smell. The prepackaged meal section was easily the most impressive part of the store. Dumplings, noodle dishes, and rice bowls were mostly priced under $10 and were generously packed with proteins and toppings. The banchan selection leaned heavily vegetable based, though I would love to see more seasoned protein options in the future. There was also a fried chicken station where customers could order individual pieces. The kimchi dumplings were plump and generously filled. The japchae was simple but satisfying, though I would not have minded a heavier hand with the sesame oil. The sushi was neatly prepared and the quality honestly felt comparable to what I would expect at a restaurant. Overall, this is a great market although I would not consider it a true one stop shop. I would likely pair this visit with another grocery store for a wider fruit and protein selection. However, this will absolutely become one of my preferred stops whenever I want convenient and affordable ready made meals. read more

Shame on me for not realizing this place existed. I love the variety of asian markets in the South Bay, my usual is mitsuwa but after seeing this on Yelp we decided to give it a visit. The pictures I've seen didn't do this place justice, it was way bigger then I expected, it reminds me of hmart but there was no crazy crowds as a hmart can have so we were able to leisurely shop without having to navigate oncoming cart traffic thought the aisles. We stocked up on various snacks and there was a huge amount of grab and go foods. We were heading for dinner after so I didn't get to try what I wanted but there is next time because the bossom looked delicious. We got a bunch of the Dubai cookie mochi things, an other baked goods, some chicken wings and japchae. The prices I feel are really good. I'm not sure if it'll replace my trips to mitsuwa entirely but I really can't wait for the next time we are in that area to visit again read more

Been going here since they were K-Market and have been a rewards member since. After hitting my 1000 points redemption, I think it's about time for a review. Love the ample parking, prime location, and how spacious it is inside. The rewards system is essentially a 1% cash back at a 1000pt cliff -- meaning you get $10 after you spend $1000 but no redemptions before that. Being a member also doesn't get you any additional discounts vs non-members. But hey it's free so it doesn't hurt. I'll always support there being more Asian grocery stores in the West Side of the South Bay. H-Mart always had that spot for me, but now it's shared. Mega Mart's marketed as a more premium store, but it does its best when they're running sales. Price between the two are pretty neck and neck. You'll spend anywhere from $70-$200 per trip cuz the small things do add up. They used to have prepped food marked off anywhere from 30-70% off in the final and early hours of the day. Now, it's an inconsistent luck of the draw. However, I've never had an issue with food quality with anything I've purchased whether it be prepped food or raw ingredients. 4/5, solid store. Hope they continue to grow and thrive as a mainstay of the community. read more

Pretty decent Korean market. This market is where I found the viral sweet potato bread. Not sure how long it's been in the freezer because there was some slight freezer burn when I opened the package. They also have a hot food section. In the evenings, some items will go at a discounted price. During my first time shopping here, I didn't know why everyone was just waiting around. Great supermarket for most Asian foods and snacks! They have the viral mango ice cream here along with grape flavor. Lots of deals here as well. Quick and easy place to grab some Korean dishes. Food in the deli section has been hit or miss for me. The kimbap so far has the best value and tastes the best. Huge portion and assembled well with bulgogi. The boneless crispy chicken has a good sauce to it and if you come when it comes out, it will still have a slight crisp to it. Hold wells for a bit but do get soggy. I'd avoid the nigiri and unagi here. The salmon didn't have much taste and is just texture. The unagi was very tough and chewy with some pieces having bones in them. The rice is a bit hard. Didn't expect much from grocery market sushi but still fell below my expectations. The Dubai chocolate sulpang was delicious. Creamy and love the crispy pieces on top. Sigh... and this is why I'm always hesitant to eat out. To be fair, the food selection looked fresh and yummy, and I was hungry, so I picked up the eel 'deopbap' from the ready-to-eat section. I've found all sorts of things in premade food over the years: hair, caterpillars, spiders, and today, I get to add a produce sticker to the list. Finding a sticker literally cooked onto the green pepper tells me everything I need to know: the vegetables weren't washed or even glanced at before being tossed in. I'd only recommend eating here if you don't mind a lack of basic food safety/cleanliness. It's clear the prep staff is just going through the motions. This location honestly makes the Fremont store look so bad. This Mega Mart is actually of the right size, it's comparable to an H Mart. The aisles were neatly organized, clean, got sampling stations here and there (usually by the freezers). The prices aren't too crazy either, they have deals from time to time, just watch out for those yellow tags. MM is almost like my go to when it comes to green onions, tofu, noodles, and frozen kimbaps. Those of you who are only about the Trader Joe's frozen kimbap is sleeping on the selection here. Like the other MM location, they have a deli and bakery on the far end. Their deli selection has kimbap, japchae, variety of rice bowls, "fried" chicken (they're more on the soggy side), banchan galore, dumplings, bibimbap, and sushi. Unlike Japanese supermarkets, they just have all day 30% off or $10 flat on certain items. I've seen that deal on rice, noodles, and sushi, pretty good for a quick grab and go meal. Their bakery has prepackaged breads and cakes. They got those fancy fruit sandos, mochi breads, cream breads. They're okay, I feel like I've had better at standalone bakeries for sure, but some days you just can't say no to a cute little corn shaped mochi bun. read more

The points don't expire that I know of. Produce: it's a hit or miss with quality. If it's at the end of the week of the flyer or first day, the vegetables tend to be wilted, soft. I'm not sure what up with their chopped garlic lately either. The containers are expanded, bulged. Meats: Generally has good color, very rarely have I seen old meats in the display. It's decent. Seafood: I've only tried their raw salmon, but it was oh so good. I got it on multiple trips. (Get some when they're on sale, 20% off!) Ready foods: So much to choose from. Sushi- California rolls, tuna rolls, tempura rolls, rolls with eel on top. They have a pretty good selection, and sashimi platters. Rice bowls - they have eel, katsu, salmon, beef. It will come with a layer of cabbage as well. They have fried chicken, corndogs, takoyaki, croquettes, kimbap. So many goodies in the back left corner when you walk in. (Try them out weekly, see what's on sale!) Others: Great selection of Korean products, always very clean and stocked. They always have what I'm looking for in Korean ingredients. Bakery: Great selection as well, breads, buns, cream puffs, cakes, haven't had a chance to try the cakes. Super easy to stop by for lunch if you're close by - or a drink and snack. read more

This store is so clean, and organized! It was a great shopping experience. Everything is low-priced, and there are sales items all throughout the store. They even have prepared meals and sushi too, along with a coffee bar and an area to sit down and eat it. Oh, BTW the sushi is marked down 50% after 7pm to ensure it's all sold by the end of day. I only have amazing great things to say about Mega Mart Korean grocery store in Sunnyvale. It's the best place for Korean ingredients and deli foods. Their banchan side dishes are always so much better in taste and flavors compared to Hankook Supermarket or HMart locations. Mega Mart Fremont looks dead and things don't seem fresh nowadays. Mega Mart is different and well operated. I made my own banchans by purchasing groceries here. Sauces/mixes are always available. Love buying soup packets too. Absolutely delicious. I was craving for the braised potatoes too, so I made my own at home. They rarely serve them at smaller Korean restaurants nowadays. Love grocery shopping here and prices are decent. Varieties keep me coming back. I'll be back again and hope they never shutdown this location. Staffs are still efficient and helpful. The location is always nicely maintained and organized. Food deli area is an excellent spot with place to sit inside too. You can purchase pastries and beverages over the counter as well. I love Korean groceries and foods. I've honestly always thought that H-Mart is the GO TO if any Korean groceries are needed, but MY GOD was I wrong. After going to Mega Mart the entire trajectory of my life has been changed and only makes me wish that we had one of these chains in SoCal. It's not only a market, but there's a bakery with cute cakes, pastries, hot K-food like corn dogs, etc., sandwiches, and even an instant noodle/ramyun bar (I'm a SUCKER for these, even though I know that I can just make them at home). We were there later in the evening so they were already closed, but seeing what they had, my mind was blown. Super cute bear and bunny cookies, a cute carrot savory pastry that is just so genius in design, soju cakes, flowery decorated cupcakes and cute creampuffs, potato and egg salad sandwiches, ready to eat bentos and rice bowls, sushi and kimbap, and so much more. Would be a great place to swing by for a fast snack or to get lunch for later/another day. They have a pretty decent selection of snacks, sweets, instant noodles, home goods, produce, meats and seafood (like you'd find at any Korean market). They even have prepackaged sets of seafood and meats meant for hot pots and stews. I've even found some instant noodles that I have never seen before in markets (the strawberry noodles, yet I still can't find my Tom Yum Buldak)... However, $2.99 for a pack of Shin Ramyun is the LOWEST that I've ever seen it at, along with a bunch of other flavors that would at least be $4-5 a pack, this is the lowest prices I've seen. Additionally, there were drinks and other snacks that I haven't seen at other Asian markets either. Big W and I'd love to swing by again next time I'm in NorCal, or even better, they decide to expand to SoCal. read more

Poor or non-existent customer service This place was much better when it was K-Market. Food: I went there today at 6 pm on a Saturday. There were NO fried chicken/wings at all. Such a disappointment, K-Market always had those tubs of warm chicken. They did have boneless chicken which is either plain or coated with a sweet sour sauce, gross and not tasty. Room temperature, is that safe?0 They had NO bonchons either unless you count the big jars of sad tasting kim chi. And there were NO employees in the take home food area, zero. Cashiers: service sucked. Cashier 0105 (what's her name?, no name tag, short Latina with makeup on and tattoos on arm): made me wait 10" while the EBT customer in front of me had some sort of discrepancy that made the older Latina cashiers in the next check stand abandon her own customer to figure out what to do. Poor guy in the next check stand and I looked at each other like wtf is going on?). Cashier 0105 gives me no greeting, no welcome smile, no apology for the wait, no saying "thank you" as she hands me the receipt, nada talk. Hates her job I guess. Don't shop here. We had been a huge fan of the bakery inside this Mega Mart. However, we have noticed the pies/ cake slices have gotten much smaller recently probably due to the tariffs and/or price increases that you are seeing in other things too. We used to always get a piece of pie of a slice of cake to share when we come here for grocery shopping, but we may not be able to do it every visit now with the price jump/ pastries getting smaller in size, which makes it less worthwhile. The taste is always great and not too sweet though, so I appreciate that! read more

I've always liked H-Mart, but I think I might like Mega Mart even more. There's just so much to see here, and it's easy to spend a good amount of time browsing all the different sections. There are still a lot of things I want to try. The ready made meals at the deli are great especially the bulgogi. It was really tasty, and they offer a lot of options, especially on the weekends. The "young lady cashiers" do not help with bagging groceries even when I'm buying lot of groceries. They just stand there watch you bagging while I'm sweating my butt off and they all have face of not wanting to be there. They only help when they realize I'm holding up long line. Only been here one other time because I saw that they had Dubai chocolate. Finally got the chance to stop by again to go through the store and check out what they have. The pricing on daily groceries are significantly cheaper than store like H-Mart or 99 Ranch. In addition, they have four to five rows of frozen fridges from fish to other frozen foods. Mega Mart is a Korean grocery store that also has sushi, kimbap, stews, KFC, Jap Chae, etc. This particular store has one of the largest selections of prepared Korean food! I think I wouldn't buy any hot food from them again. The fried rice looked amazing, but when I transferred it to a bowl, it's clearly too much oil. I have a whole tablespoon of this when I transferred it out to a bowl. Then when I finished, there's still more oil dripping. This is not good for your health, don't recommend this item.
