Cleanest Safeway I've ever been to. Plus the bathrooms were hospital level clean! 10/10 will pee here again.

Sadly this remains a sketchy location in terms of safety and clientele. That is not their fault (although it could certainly be the fault of upper management). Shoplifting is rife (we see at least two groups of people shoplifting every time we go here) and, for safety reasons, the staff can't really do anything about it, plus there is zero security, which they REALLY need (although the police regularly apprehend folks here, it sounds like from what staff was telling us). So yes, staff was a bit overly chatty about the dire conditions but who can blame them? This location really needs an overhaul to create safer conditions for everyone. In terms of stock, yes, it's fun to shop here, and they have good sales - if you be sure to check the expiration date! We enjoyed, for instance, getting some topnotch bagels for 99 cents. read more

I am getting to where I am not going to shop here anymore. For the second time in a short while the sales pricing was not correctly charged on some large items. It's a hassle to have to go back and fix it. There is no reason they can't have the sales prices input in their systems correctly. This is just one too many times for me. I shouldn't have to watch every sale item I purchase. Especially when they say it comes off at the end of the transaction. Not always. This makes $40.00 of recent. Not good Safeway! read more

This is a huge grocery store. It is clean, organized, and well-stocked. It's basically an Albertsons, and I was able to use the same app. I got some food and drinks, and the self-checkout was easy and quick to use. read more

I am only two blocks away from this store but sadly cashiers at this store are so racist!!! A person of gray hair up to her shoulders... I believe Laura, welcomes white people every time but if she gets Hispanic customers doesn't even bother to say hello. I've notice that several times, when she did it to me I sure confronted her she changed her attitude. For this reason I prefer driving 10 minutes to go to a different Safeway. read more

It's sincerely disappointing that I can't say I'm appalled and shocked by what's occurred at this facility...can't even call it a family grocery store anymore! There have been times when I've come to shop and needed to use the facilities urgently and found them to be closed. When I inquire as to why, I'm told something's broken or maintenance is being performed...ok! There have been times I've questioned the closure and was allowed to use the restroom and told that they're posed as closed due to the transient and drug activity, yet they have visible security...often standing around talking or on their phones but they're there! My disgust was intensified when I learned of my very close good friend's humiliation when she was forced to urinate in the parking lot, with her young children present! My friend had just gotten off work and picked her kids up to go grab some groceries for dinner. A responsible single mother with a relentless schedule, very understandable! While shopping she realized she never stopped to pee. She went to use the restroom with her 2 young sons following to find they were closed. She escalated to a manager who refused to allow her access, insisting they were closed for maintenance but upon entering the store she witnessed an associate granting access to a customer. Not even management seems to care about their own complacency or their staff's, nor do they care about the comfort or urgency of their customers anymore! At this point I will no longer shop at the Burien Safeway because they're dishonest to their customers, complacent regarding urgent or even mediocre concerns and it's only getting worse. The Renton Safeway isn't much better and honestly, at this point I'm more comfortable shopping at Freddy's/QFC than at Albertsons/Safeway. read more

Peronsally have lived in the area for 3-4 years. always have had a good experience. customer service has always been nice and helpful to me. always been able to find what I'm looking for. thankful to have this little Safeway near by for our grocery needs. I have found if you're going around expecting the worst because maybe you pre judged the area or whatever it may be... then you will find reasons to believe that. If you go somewhere with gratitude/good attitude you will notice things a little differently. I've been treated better at this Safeway then any Bellevue, Seattle, Redmond Safeway thats for sure. read more

Management either get him help or teach home how to make pre than one drink at a time when he has two expresso makers and clearly there is a long ass line and continue to make small talk instead of hurrying up and getting through the line. read more

Bought a 3 pack of T-Bone steaks that were on sale. When we got home we noticed 2 out of 3 had unnatural purple coloring. We immediately brought them back in package with receipt. Customer service said they can't accept returns on meat during covid. Not sure why they wouldn't just throw it away in the condition it was in. We showed them the purple color on the meat and they brought us back to deli. The deli said it could be from oxidation from stacking the meat on top of each other. When we showed him the pictures and the meat, he said "oh." We got our money back, but we shouldn't have had to fight that hard for it. We come here regularly, but not anymore. read more

Went to try to get a prescription for my wife. First they said it was to soon then they said I would have to pay so I said I would, Came back later paid for it and when I got home it was not the drug I asked for it was something entirely different she did not need refilled. So why they gave me the wrong drug I don't know I just know I am out $26 for something that I did not need or want. read more

I'm only changing my rating because of my experience with curbside pick up. That is a fantastic service and the people who bring out your groceries are super friendly and quick. They've text me to let me know if they are out if something and if I want to get something else instead. The app is user friendly and getting a time slot is equally easy. I love curbside pick up as it helps me avoid having to go into the store and put up with other customers especially as I heal from a hip injury and still have walking issues I hope they keep curbside even after the pandemic ends read more

We bought some shrimps and didn't use the digital coupons. Then we show a receipt to the guy at customer service to get the difference. He at first wanted us to bring shrimps back. When we came back with shrimps, he told us they couldn't take back on the seafood! This is totally a scam as I later checked online about Safeway return policy which can refund on meat produce, etc. we should stay away from the store, and that guy should be fired. Saw negative reviews on the pharmacy but had no problems until I started regularly having to get meds. It's been almost a week now since I've had meds I am suppose to take everyday. First there was a breach in their computers. Then partially on my side of things my insurance was terminated for couple days . My insurance has been current for couple days now and customer service was so lame about just simply looking up to see if it had updated in computer yet. I have two meds and all she kept saying is the CO pay is $14 for one and the second one they are still calling on. I asked what's that mean still calling on? She just kept saying we still calling on . She was lame not even try to help with my questions. I asked my insurance doesn't fully cover these meds now? She said no CO pay is $14. Well thanks for taking time to explain why my insurance all sudden doesn't pay for entire script or if that is the problem with why I'm not getting my most important medication? Not too mention there is absolutely 0 discretion from none of the pharmacy workers there. Place is trash. I've lived here all my life been coming to this Safeway. I had a poor experience with another chain store when doing order pick up so I was apprehensive with doing it again. My wife did an online order for me to pick up. My wife said prior to me arriving that Justine from the store had called her to let her know the store was out of some of the items and offered a substitution, at first my wife said no substitutions but Justine went to the bakery with my wife on the phone with her and told my wife of several possible substitutions, she went above and beyond and made my wife feel so comfortable with the selections not just that she made sure the items where priced to the sale price of the out of stock item. This will be our go to pick up store from now on. Thank you Justine for all of your help and thank you Safeway for having such a great employee. read more

Disgusting and dissapointing. Fruit is sour not ripe or washed well. Cantalope and berries have more snap than broccoli or carrots. Cake is dry heavy and icing is not creamy. Thin layer on German cake but thick on white cake. powder texture, like not sifted and badly measure on carrot cake. For assorted fruit and cake platter this ruins birthdays. This store has the rudest customer service/self-checkout person I have ever seen! MULTIPLE times I have shopped there and heard her (don't know her name) yelling at customers, swearing, complaining and just generally acting deranged. You can hear this woman swearing and complaining long before you approach the checkstand. One day I heard her shout "I can't believe how expensive this f****** magazine is! You can just Google this s*** for free", before slamming the magazine down. Another time she announced very loudly that she thought a customer's bill was counterfeit (it wasn't). Isn't that type of thing that touched off the chain of events that resulted in the death of George Floyd? If she actually believed a customer was presenting a phony bill I am certain that there are approved procedures in place to deal with the situation. Who can she possibly think she is to focus that kind of spotlight on an innocent customer? She seems to be especially fond of yelling abuse at African immigrants. I have witnessed this multiple times. Perhaps she yells at everyone, but I find it very disturbing that I have repeatedly observed her yelling at members of a particular ethnic group. The last time she yelled at an African man because he tried to catch her attention by saying "hey". Not the most polite, I agree, but she yelled at him very loudly and aggressively that "you only say 'excuse me' to her, not 'hey'". I witnessed a similar encounter between her and an African woman recently where she berated the woman for some mistake that she made until the woman became angry and started defending herself against the attack. Not sure who was right or wrong in this case, but since when does a customer service employee shout at and berate a customer? If a customer is legitimately causing a serious disturbance you call management and/or security, not scream at them and let them know how stupid they are! For those wondering how I knew the customers were African, the manner of dress and the accent made it very clear. There is a large African population in this area. I have written the store on the website about the most recent observation of this behavior (2 weeks ago, and again a few days ago) but they have chosen not to acknowledge my comments in any way. I must conclude that they condone this behavior, as this has been going on for at least the last two years. Surely I am not the only one to notice and complain. My advice would be to avoid this store if rudeness and racism offend you. read more

I miss my old Safeway. No self check out, lines are long. They decide to close my checkstand and move the line to other checkstand, after I waited 20 minutes and was next up. This then put me at the end of the new line. Meaning another 15 minutes. This is the only grocery store within quite a bit of area where I live. I'll start traveling elsewhere. I hate this Safeway because they regularly only have 1-2 cashiers working at the busiest times. Like tonight for example, it's early Sunday evening when everyone is shopping for the week. They had ONE cashier working. One! The line, like always, was way down the aisle. The manager should be fired, it's just ridiculous. Or is the CEO afraid to miss a few millions if s/he actually employs people and pays them the pitiful wage I'm sure they get? The best in town. I look forward to going to this place. The prices are good if you plan ahead. Safeway has regular sales when particular items are very affordable. The staff is very nice (when they are treated with niceness) and I appreciate the hard work they put in to make this a good place to shop. They have a high turnover of management staff. Usually a manager lasts about a year. I have shopped here intermittently since 1978 and I still like the place and its memories. read more

I am in shock right now as I just went to Safeway located at 4011 South 164th Street Sea-tac, WA today 3/19/2016 at about 2:50pm I went to the Deli section to get some food. I asked the young Caucasian women if I could get a couple Mediterranean skewers and about a half a pound of cold Buffalo chicken salad and asked if they could warm it up so that I could have warm food. The woman told me that she would have to ask her (I'm assuming her superior) and called the older Asian man who was standing in front of the warm food glass case. She talked for a brief moment with him and I could over hear him say, "well that is the cold food section and that food is meant to be cold"...the woman came back and told me that is was okay for her to warm up the good...just a second later after she told me that the Asian man stated to me that if the good is warmed up I cannot pay with food stamps. Now what the fuck was that about...no one mention that I was paying with food stamps and I replied "I was not paying with good stamps". How fuckin prejudice and racist was that comment, he assumed something about me and remarked out of ignorance. He walked back to what he was doing and the Caucasian woman apologized for what had happened and I ended up getting the food cold because I was just over that. I really thought that Safeway had much more sense than that. In the 21st century, you would think that people would have some sense. I think that Safeway needs to have their people go through some cultural diversity training and proper customer service. I wish if I can give them zero rating... Today January, 5, 2020, I have to called 4011 S 164th St SeaTac, WA 98188 Safeway Pharmacy to make sure my daughter's medication is going to be processed. First call this lady picked up and told me she will talk to pharmcist to see if medication is going to be ready; I was waiting for over 10 minutes until a voice message telling me to leave a message with my info, so I hung up and called again a guy picked this time and disrespecfully told me to wait and put in voice message. All they could have done was take my info and tell me the estatemated time. These people need to be retrained for customer service. read more

It's a Safeway like any else. Good selection of every day grocery staples as well as health and beauty, cleaning, and pharmaceutical products at fair prices. I choose Safeway over Albertsons, QFC and other grocery stores any day because of convienience, cost, cleansliness and customer service. Oh and the deli. Their deli is good! A few warnings if you will about this particular location: if you come after ten the lines can be long (the workers get pretty busy) most product restocking and organizing happens overnight and cashiers tend to do double duty so you may need to look for an employee if there isn't someone readily available at the checking stations (be patient and kind) and the probability of you getting run over by some delinquent running out the door with shoplifted alcohol increases in the moonlight hours. Yes the patrons can be a little on the sketchy side, but what do you expect from a 24 hr Safeway off Pac Hwy? All in all, Safeway is great. If you can, go on a Friday because they have special deals. And download the Just for U app if you like even more deals. That's right, you don't have to be a part of the Extreme Couponing craze to save yourself some green. P.S. This place continues to be a blight on the face of humanity. The people that work here, while all meaning well, are just not staffed adequately and with the right leadership to do anything but fail. No matter when you go, or to what department, you will always wait. they don't clean their parking lot, so there is always garbage all over the place. The shopping carts and baskets are never stocked and you have to go retrieve one from the parking lot yourself. Most of them are beat up and dirty. Essentially, from the riffraff who shop here, to the service and cleanliness, this place is super GHETTO! People are now getting shot and killed in the parking lot as well apparently. read more

My family and I have lived in this area from 1967 and have seen this store through some ups and downs. Right now they seem to be in a downward spiral. On numerous occasions the meat, chicken and seafood ended up spoiled before the use/freeze by dates. Also have had the same thing with the produce but not as frequent. After this last return on chicken thigh meat I'm going to give Fred Meyers in Burien a try. Wish these reviews actually got to the upper management level in the corporation to make some positive changes. 10/17-Well it's been another two years and I hear things have improved as far as their products, but now the lines are so bad that it takes longer to get checked out. Update 4/2018-I no longer shop here other than to get prescriptions filled, but will be switching also to Fred Meyers for this also. Never enough help here! I've been a regular customer for over 15yrs as this grocery store is right up my street. I think that they have great staff but seem to be short handed quite a bit. The poor employees that are there work through it as well as anybody could. I always feel badly for them since it seems to be a staffing/scheduling issue. read more
