My husband is almost as nosy as I am when it comes to discovering new places. So when he said he wanted to check out this new grocery store near southcenter, I was aghast to learn that there had been one under my nose this whole time. When he pulled into the parking lot, I knew exactly why I had missed it previously. Not only is the parking lot pretty narrow and single aisled, the concrete-blocked storefront itself is not obvious. I would assume it would be maybe the corporate office for the postal service or something similar. But definitely not a grocery store. With that being said, the storefront was clearly open and was easy to access. They had carts that were also easy to access, the aisles were clean and organized, although it was a 50/50 shot on value. It really depends on what you're looking for. But for the most part, protein sold in bulk was a great deal, along with other bulk goods like beans, pasta, grains, etc. I didn't really see that great of a discount on smaller individual items like spices or beverages, or even produce. Checking out was simple. Everyone made a single file line down and waited to cashiers to become available. Since the single file goes down the store to the right, it was difficult to see the cashiers. We waited about 10 minutes to be checked out. I'm not entirely sure if mostly working with other food service vendors and workers changes anything for the cashiers here, but I felt that it did lend a bit of a detached air from what you and I are used to in a more public grocery store. The employees, although they acknowledged everyone, were did not appear to manage the line (i.e.: calling out when a checker is ready, instead waiting for the customer to approach them), welcome or greet customers. They were having a few side conversations that halted traffic for a bit, but we have just arrived in time for a shift change, breaks, or something else similar. All in all, I felt the opportunity cost of all things given was enough to definitely return in the future. We made out like a bat out of hell with the bulk frozen ahi tuna and we'll be eating delicious dinner for the next couple weeks! read more

This happened at a us foods event and not at a store. I felt this needed to be addressed. Minutes after arriving i was interrogated by some quasi manager for us foods. This was an open house for vendors that use us foods and I was invited and had tickets. For some odd reason this middle-aged dude was very interested in me and what I was doing. I saw him talking about me even and keeping an eye on me. Oddly enough he had no interest in the less than classy people whom brought their entire family, friends, even small children. The same person then approached again and called me a liar about where I worked (i did make something up because I thought he was making smalltalk, but i surely didnt need to justify my presense because no one else did)said "oh so you're just here for the free food " while im wearing $800 shoes and he looked his clothes came from the goodwill. At that point I laughed and walked away to leave. I went to grab my bag that was behind a table and some other member of the help said "dude you've had enough". The trailer park people shoveling food like hippos were never once talked to by anyone. I was watching to see. Clearly these members of the help have a problem with African American people. I will never shop at a US foods store and will tell my business owner friends whom are brown to do the same. I would like this very serious matter to be addressed ASAP. read more

Love this US Foods store. Always find helpful people to assist with finding things. Clean and lots of goodies to find. You don't need to have a restaurant to shop here, lots of bargains for families. Fruits, veggies, dairy and meats are always fresh I wish they had more parking but I've always found a spot. read more

I've known this place for a few years, I stopped by today. A good benefit here is that you don't have to be a member to buy wholesale. But prices are little more and less grocery store. The inside of the store is similar to other wholesale stores. The inside of the store is very tidy, and each passage has a sign so it's easy to find things. I went around noon on Saturday, both the parking lot and the inside of the store were vacant. I've looked around the store and it's a good idea to check the expiration date before you buy. The cash register Is no lines and it is a comfortable service. The utility value of this shop is great. read more

Only three (3) stars due to the fact my impression of my walk-in visit at the Federal Way store wasn't great. I was shopping for frozen lobster tails for an upcoming special occasion (wife's birthday). I initially checked the freezer compartments for products and after not finding what I was looking for, I asked a cashier if the store had any frozen lobster tails and received a curt answer "NO". I then asked another employee who stocking products and he said they don't carry frozen lobster tails. I mentioned to both employees I found an ad on the website showing a box of frozen lobster tails, but neither one offered any other information. Upon returning home, I contact the Chef Store in Tukwila (WA) and the lady who answered the call put me in touch with the person who's assigned to frozen products. She (name?) was quite helpful and looked the ad up on the computer and said she could place an order for me. Great assistance from one store, zero assistance at the initial store. In the end, I placed an order from the Tukwila store and waiting to be notified when it's in. As a side note, a 5-lb. box of frozen lobster tails (3-4 oz. each) at the Chef's Store costs $149.99. At COSTCO, a similar product (different brand) costs $122.99. read more

Mediocre and Meh. The parking lot can be a mess here too. It's small and cramped and it's like a game of bumper cars trying to get in and out parking space if other people are in the lot. This Chef Store was much smaller than the one I'm used to in North Carolina. On our visit they were stocking the shelves and they had pallet jacks in the aisles and you couldn't navigate around them. You'd have to turn around and go the other way. Just knowing the congestion this would cause, you would think they wouldn't have employees stocking shelves on a weekend. I would have given this place three stars but their produce was sad. Lots of it looked wilted and dying and definitely past their prime cooking. Not a big selection but if you don't have a costco card, then this place might definitely have pricing than shopping at grocery store especially if you need things in bulk. read more

Good Costco alternative. Used to be called Cash&Carry. Nice thing about this warehouse is that you don't need to apply for membership. It's not as big as Costco but it still has a lot of good stuff if you're planning on hosting a party. Parking and flat bed carts are limited so if you get there early enough it shouldn't be a problem. read more

Formerly Cash N' Carry, Smart Foodservice is a cool place to go check out if you're on the hunt for bulk snacks and you don't have a Costco membership. They sell to mostly restaurants and small businesses, so everything they have is pretty much bulk/big sizes and cleaning/dining supplies for large quantities. We stopped by here specifically so we could check out their drink syrups (for flavored Red Bulls). They literally have an entire AISLE of syrups, so there's plenty to choose from. They had what we came for and then some! At a little over $4 a bottle, I'd say it was a good deal. I don't have much need to buy too much else from here, but when I do, it's great to have the option near home! read more

Just something about going into a young Bill Gates era industrial warehouse. Shiny concrete floor. Industrial shelving. Focus on pure function. Rugged metal carts with hard rubber wheels and no suspension and rear steering. These carts btw make it super easy to just stack up bulk stuff, any lots of stuff, whatever--maybe even practice your stacking skillz. You can walk in the fridge/freezer like it's just another room in the bunch. Nice variety. Simple. And boxes, to boot. read more

I give this place in Tukwila a three star because of the lame customer service. I grabbed a green cart looking for some small items, but ended up getting a bag of 50 lbs rice. When my wife and I were at the check out a young (white) girl was telling us that we should not be using the green card because it could break easily. Really? We will consider using the industrial cart the next time around, but probably would not shop here again. Bothell is a pleasant one and so is the one in Federal Way. read more

This is a one stop shop for restaurant supplies; food, cookware, dishware, plastics...they have basically everything you need. A lot of the shelves are surprisingly empty, but overall they do have a good selection. Watch the prices while you're here, there are a lot of items that are noticeably cheaper to buy at a regular grocery store. read more

This shop used to be Cash and Carry, we have been shopping here years back and we love the meats they carry. Not a lot of options and variety regarding other items which you can find in Costco, but prices are reasonable enough and I like the quality of red meat particularly the ribeye steak, the best! This place is smaller than the other ones. Some of the shelves are somewhat barren, so I'm not sure if this place gets last pick for goods. Some of the stuff that I've seen in the other stores were missing, but that could be that they just have less overall space to display and sell product. I didn't mosey on back to look at some of the other goods, but it wouldn't be a place where I would expect a high turnover. Seemed a little bit like the forgotten toy. read more

Great place to get food without the large sizes of a warehouse club (aside from meat which comes in mega sizes)... Think of it as accessible wholesale restaurant supply prices. Personally I get the frozen hashbrowns, burritos, and Ghiradelli cocoa here on a regular basis. On occasion I pick up the Litehouse salad dressings and veggies as well. read more

I dont know if they just only have those large carts but I dont even remember ever using a regular grocery cart, I'm thinking its because of all the bulk items. But I have to say they have better prices than grocery stores. Although, I think Costco has more competitive prices, but Cash & Carry doesn't require a membership. I think lots of local restaurants and people in general, use Cash & Carry to buy supplies. Its a great store if you dont want to pay a membership at costco! Easy to find items, and lots of fresh bulk meat. So if you're planning a big party or fundraiser this is a good place to shop! I don't know if they carry organic or not though, I didn't see much. Some of these cashiers need to work on their customer's skills. Shopping here almost every week. Comparing this location with Seattle store I would say this place is smaller and is not really organized. I notice some of their stocks are always out. I ended up return the items sometimes. I like to keep what I bought but this is small issue. I like to see this place more organize and products are easy to find. I will return to see more improvement. Thx. We came back: Two months ago, my family and I went back to shop and the item wasn't tag correctly and so it cost $35 for a small box of candy. After we found out it was too much we wanted to return it within that 30 seconds after got our receipt, but the cashier told us to go back in line. What a great customer service. This is paradise for me, a Costco, but without having to be committed to huge bulk orders. Although there ARE options to buy certain items in cases. The coffee flavors are the section that I am in heaven with my many, many choices and literally there is every single flavor. It's cheap too because in a normal grocery store, a bottle goes for almost $7 versus $4 here. Make sure you check your Cash & Carry's hour, they don't run like a normal grocery store, more like a bank to me. This one is closed at 7pm on weekdays, but is open at 7am so I'm sure you can find time out of the 24 hour day that you have everyday. Unfortunately, checks and food stamps aren't accepted here. Why does Cash & Carry make it so hard to make a return?! I bought 4 sets of containers thinking that I would need them but I didn't. I tried to exchange them at the 4th ave location but they said the prices were different so I had to take it back to where I bought it from. I go to to theTukwila location and the manager starts asking me why I waited so long to return them and if they were used. It's within 30 days and I haven't had time to do it until today and no I wouldn't return some half used boxes. If Costco would have carried the containers I know I wouldn't have had a problem returning them. They have a great return policy and don't give you a hard time. If I do go here again, I would definitely make sure I need those items before buying. It would also help if they had a return policy. read more

Me love cash and carry... especially when I need a 500 count box of solo cup lids. I'm joking of course, I only buy 250 at a time. But buying large cuts of meat here will save you beaucoup bucks come barbecue season. Service is always really fast. Minus one star because they don't have some staple items, like pepperoncini or Kalamata olives. At least not in containers smaller than a gallon. But the prices are sooooo good. read more

Best Cash & Carry/public-open restaurant catered warehouse in the area. Shelves are stocked well and staff is helpful. Would especially recommend checking out the meat and produce prices. Don't forget to swing by coffee/tea supply section. Every Monin, Davinci or Torani syrup flavor you could want is there, including sugar free. All prices and products are on their website. I recommend bringing your own shopping bags or similar way to carry groceries out unless you want large fruit/meat boxes. The carts are long heavy flatbeds or small light shopping trip carts, not the standard grocery cart. No child seat carts available, bring your own stroller or have the kids walk with you as you shop. read more

So, we're all trying to save a little money on groceries, right? Well, this place helped us out a lot. Think of it like a less expensive costco for food where you don't have to buy a membership. It's really set up to be a restaurant supply store, but it works well for us too. We don't get a lot of things here, but there are some staples we buy in bulk that save us a lot of money like flour, eggs, bread, yeast, rice, potatoes, ground beef, onions, and some of their frozen seafood and meats are a really good deal. We had a couple of large BBQ's this summer and found this to be a a great place to purchase party supplies like plates and glasses and giant containers of baked beans and large cases of sausages. A couple of times we split some of the larger items with friends so we were able to buy a reasonable quantity that wouldn't go bad before we were able to use it. read more

a few years ago i locked my keys in the trunk!!!! i called a locksmith who never showed up (i'll write a review for them later lol).. i told them i was at the cash and carry in tukwila with a exact address... as time went by i was in a hurry and called them back and they said they never got my call... total BS!!!! but thank GOD... Rick i think was his name? the manager at cash and carry let me hang out there for like 2 hours until finally a different lock smith came!!! Interesting store. Kinda of like Costco lite, but prices quite a bit higher than Costco. Not really a place to go grocery shopping unless you're a restaurant, reseller of some sort, or buying for a huge family (need a 25 or 50 lb. bag of sugar?).
