    Looks better than before.

Update- I want to add a star as this past visit was a bit better. Some of the renovations are finished and there are welcome improvements like an upgraded seafood and butcher area and updated bakery. The regular meat cases are still rated poor-there is still an odor and the selection is not great. Less rotten meat though. Produce section is much improved. Same weird and shady customers. We witnessed two guys do a grab and dash shoplift! smh!!! Hopefully they will continue to improve.

    Sushi Offer on Friday

This review on the Sushi bar Friday deal and the deli bar *. Both areas are clean, but I must say that the quality of the food and taste are not great. The Honey wings I bought tasted more like zingers and they had too much fat on them. The wings also did not have much flavor and I could not get them to re-heat crispy in my air fryer which was a bummer. The sushi friday deal which is buy one get one half off was a good value. The taste and quality of the sushi is very basic and if you into flavor and quality I would not recommend getting it at Giant. It was edible for sushi, and the display case was nice and clean and kept ice cold, but overall I was not impressed by the product for the total price.

My mother and I went to this local Giant earlier tonight! We purchased two packs of smoked turkey wings.... Got home and opened this one! It's moldy and OLD!!!! We were horrified! How dare you endanger people with spoiled products like this?!? I want answers!!!! I also want my freakin back!!!

I purchased Boars Head Deli meat with chunks of plastic/bone in the meat. Choked on a piece and consumed another. Brought it to the attention of the store manager, who took it seriously. Giant Corp. on the other hand laughed it off and said it's not our fault. After living on East West Highway for years and shopping here will not be returning. Shame on Giant

I couldn't figure out if the prices here were more than my regular Giant, but I guess at least the sale prices are the same.

So many everyday and unusual products at a fraction of the price you would pay for the same thing in little bottles, boxes or jars. My favorites are oatmeal and spices. Second, the wine section often has good prices on decent wines. Not easy to find these days. Some of them are organic. And finally, there are some freshly prepared foods that make the co-op a destination store for me. Sushi. And those spicy samosas that are kept in the warmer near the soups. Especially the cabbage one! Apparently they are made by Zemen, the Ethiopian grocery on Maple, so you could also look for them there. That is the co-op the way I experience it. But it is waiting for you to discover your own - the possibilities are endless

Yes this place is in fact more expensive than a traditional grocery store, but the bulk section with one of the only bulk season spots in the area. I'd rather spend my money here than at Whole Foods or some other corporate entity.

I was saddened by the decision to close the base and I think having a facility to care for veterans inside our city limits was important both symbolically and practically, and while the complex was still in various stages of construction when I stopped in, the hospital that once stood near here was not recognizably present. As to the store itself, it has a lot of standard things you'd expect to see, but I found some nice items on clearance. Self-checkout was available, if marginally functional, and I found a set of single-stall bathrooms to be a welcome development, but they were only available after checking out at the register. There was a lot of weird bush league behavior going on, including a car standing out front double parked after the driver dodged in for what I assume was an online order pickup. It seems like this largely vacant complex should have easier parking and more efforts to discourage bad behavior, but apparently I expect too much.

I want to give a special shoutout to the international foods Trader Joe sources. This is generally a TJ strong suit, but here I want to mention a few they absolutely nail: Mini samosas: most Indian restaurants in the US serve samosas that have thick doughy shells and are overstuffed with potato filling. But the ones I really love are the Gujarati kind, with thin exteriors and better proportioned, more flavorful filling. This is the kind TJ carries. Oh my heart! Beef Birria: cooked long and slow, so the tomato, vinegar and chili meld into a deep, complex sauce to flavor the beef. The meat itself is so tender it falls easily apart, perfect filling for a tortilla. Takes me right back to Mexico. MultiPurpose Japanese seasoning: I originally bought this to make a seaweed mayonnaise that I wanted to serve with salmon. It turned out beautifully, but pretty soon I was sprinkling the seasoning on all manner of dishes, bringing them alive on my tongue and giving me a new reason for being excited about food!

It's fine if if you need basics and household products for less than big brands. However, if you want more variety, one of the more traditional supermarkets in the area may be a better bet.
