    Mango Lassi
    Cathy W.

My husband wants to try out this Indian restaurant for our belated Valentine's dinner. I didn't realize it was a chain until I started searching online for food pics. We parked in the parking lot a block behind the restaurant. 6pm-8pm were free parking. And with little walk to the restaurant during this winter cold weather. First impression when I arrived, this looks like a mom & pop shop. It seems quite small. So i would suggest maybe making a reservation ahead of time would be ideal. Service was excellent! Food was pretty good. Both my husband and I enjoyed our meal. Although both of us agreed that another Indian restaurant around our house tastes better, but this place ain't too bad. We ordered 2 mango lassi once we arrived. Before my husband placed the food order, he already pretty much kill that drink off. It was just good!! Definitely worth a try. Note: For $30+ if you pay with cash, there is 10% off your subtotal.

The food and staff are amazing at the Ambler Saffron location. you can't go wrong with anything that's on the menu, especially the chicken and lamb dishes. I have never had a bad meal. The good has so much flavor to it and is filling. The staff is amazing and is always attentive! I have been coming here for years and will continue to do so!!! Highly recommend!!!

Boti Kabob Masala w added veggies

Saffron is definitely an unexpected gem right on Butler Ave in downtown Ambler. I'm glad that we decided to go in person instead of ordering delivery. We ate right on the street and their presentation was fantastic. We started with two veggie samosas that were really good (so good, in fact, that I forgot to take Yelp pictures of them). I got the Boti Kabob Masala and added veggies. My girlfriend got Chicken Tikka Masala and a Mango Lassi. We split Aloo Naan and got basmati and raita to share with our main dishes. For ~$80 this was more than enough food. My favorite part of the meal was that the dishes were served family style in their own bowls and you could mix your dish however you wanted. Everything seemed very fresh and was delicious. PRO TIP: Sometimes "medium spicy" can be too spicy at an Indian place but the waiter here offered "in between mild and medium spicy" which was just perfect. Definitely try this place. It's different than the American/Italian places nearby.

Every time I go I get the saag paneer. It's delicious and has a decent amount of spiciness.

The aloo tiki chat is amazing, will get this every time, tangy from the tamarind, crispy, fresh, doesn't get soggy in delivery. Vegetable biryani is so good, it doesn't take like a vegetable fried rice like a lot of places that make biryani without meat, it's deep spice flavors, generous portion, would get extra raita on the side bc that's great too. The fish tika masala was thick, rich sauce, lots of fish pieces, deeply flavorful, great with any naan dipped in. Would highly recommend if you like tikka masala or butter chicken but don't want meat. Naans, all great, we have had the garlic cheese naan and it's large, hot, cheesy, chunks of garlic on there, so good. The mint tea is very minty and VERY sweet. Not shown is the chili fish, another solid entree, large fish pieces, slightly spicy, in a less saucy preparation than a curry.

The food was yummy and the staff very friendly! The food was also ready on time. Note: we got mild for the curries but it was still pretty spicy for us, even for the samosa. We ordered: 1. Peri peri fries - ours were curly fries 5. Classic tikka masala - on the tangier side rather than creamy 6. Korma masala - nice and creamy with cashews 7. Saag paneer - yummy, nice smooth sauce I think my favorites were the saag paneer and korma masala. We got another paneer dish too which I can't remember the name of (my sister put the order in) but that one was also delicious. We ordered this amount for 7 people and we still had leftovers

It's the real deal with full flavor and authentic Desai taste to fulfill that craving of goat verified or chicken sukka. Maybe a delicious biryani or tawa fish fry. We had the gongura chicken and chicken tikka masala. If you're American and used to order chicken tikka masala please note the medium spice level may be a touch spicy and it comes with bell peppers and onions. I thought it tasted fantastic. Gongura chicken had the tamarind tang with a gongura curry gravy that felt like I'm eating in south India. Naan and roti were piping hot and thin. Great to soak up all that curry. Also tried the chili gobi that had plenty of chili sauce to put on some naan. Can't wait to go back and try some other fun dishes. Lunch time thali looked good as well.

But my brother had tried their food before and highly recommended it, so we decided to give it a try for Sunday dinner. There was only one table occupied when we arrived, but they seemed to have quite a few takeout orders coming in. We ordered the goat curry, chicken tikka masala, garlic naan, and mango lassi. I asked for the chicken tikka masala to be a little spicy. It wasn't really spicy, but it was very flavorful, and the chicken was tender--not overcooked or dry like you sometimes get at other places. Everything was good, and the bill came out to about $48 for everything. Overall, we were pleasantly surprised and would definitely come back!
