Fantastic dining experience. Our server, Steve, was friendly and knowledgeable, guiding us through the family-style menu. We started with the smoky baba ghanoush and house-made pita--both delicious. The ragu hummus was bold and well-seasoned. As well as a the whipped feta dip, with its creamy great flavor and texture. For mains, the half chicken was my favorite, while the pomegranate-braised lamb was a hit with the rest of the group. We also had a couple of sides, the Israeli salad which compares to a Greek salad. A friend of mine recommended Safta so I really want to check it out and im very happy I did! Really enjoyed dining there. They had very tasty Mediterranean cuisine and a fun atmosphere! Servers were lovely, helpful when navigating the menu and the food was exquisite. I really enjoyed all the sharing plates the most! Hummus was one of the best I've had in the states. What a mixed bag. A Sunday brunch for $50 per person and they run out of three food items during and shortly after the Sunday noon hour. They may have run out of more items during the time our family group was there but I couldn't tell. It is a buffet, but food items may or may not get replaced if you don't get to them quickly. Sable is a terrific fish dish and highly sought-after. It was gone and not replaced within minutes after our group of 5 arrived and yet Management knows that Sable is popular but ran out of it long before closing. I suspect it was delicious but I never got to taste it. I am probably misspelling this but the shushuka, which is an Israeli egg dish with a delicate tomato sauce also ran out. Of course, the croissants would not run out, but they did. You get the picture. Overall, the food I got to eat, before it was gone, was well prepared and there were a lot of choices. Also, The smoked salmon was excellent, but if you wanted a bagel you weren't going to get it toasted. There's no toaster nearby. The service people on the floor seem to be overwhelmed and only came to refresh our beverages when we signaled to them to please come over. No fresh silverware was offered between dishes - - a nice touch in nice restaurants On a positive note, the food dishes that didn't run out were quite tasty. The restaurant has lots of windows and is pleasantly bright. Further, it is nicely furnished. On the negative side, parking in the next door parking garage will generally run you $8.00 if you stay over an hour. Safta needs to give some more value for the price being charged, but that's not happening at this point. There is more to expensive restaurants than good tasting available food and Safta can get there but isn't there yet or, maybe, I came on a bad day. Would I return? Yes, but for now I'm going to avoid the Sunday brunch. read more

Place are crowded . Staffs all seem unhappy never smile except our waitress but still horrible . Food decent small portion . Best is humus and bread , the steak strip was good but the duck leg not good . Salty and rice taste not good . Flavor also kind weird . I am big fan of Mediterranean food but this isn't it . Well after years of hearing this was one of the top restaurants in Denver, I finally made it. Unfortunately I was disappointed on some aspects. To start our server was a bit bizarre. He was not attentive and was pretty awkward with our table. I ordered the cheese borrekas and clearly he didn't put the order in. When I asked again about them he said it would need to be another 20 minutes so we let that one go. They also were out of the lamb ragu hummus AND mujadra stuffed squash. Ambiance was fine. It was a cute vibe but could be a little cozier. I think the second floor windows are cool and pink is nice. Also love that my table had a lazy susan. ONTO THE FOOD - I have mixed reviews for the dishes we tried. To start the mushroom hummus, tahini hummus, baba ganoosh, whipped feta and pita were PHENOMENAL. I think the mushroom hummus may have been the best I've ever had. My friend ordered the crispy eggplant and fatoush salad and both of those were great too. Here's where I had the problem. The lamb shank. The flavor was not there. The meat was very tender but there was a lack of wow factor. It could've used more sauce and salt. The meat was just not flavorful at all and it was really disappointing. For something so expensive I expect to be blown away. The Persian rice was also mediocre and left a weird taste in my mouth. I wouldn't recommend it. The shank, rice, service and lack of dishes I wanted to try was a let down. However I will say the hummus and pita were spectacular. The drinks were great too. I finally attended the weekend brunch, and that is most definitely the way to go. You get to sample everything in the normal menu, plus brunch menu items, dessert, and coffee and tea. Absolutely worth the hype! This was one of the cutest spots I'd been to in so long-- the vibes were amazing and I was obsessed with the decor from the minute I walked in. I've been dreaming about the whipped feta and the lamb hummus since I visited. The carrots were shockingly impressive, and the salmon and lamb meatball small plates were divine. Stopped here for dinner with my husband after having it on our list for a while and hearing all of our friends rave about it. We got the lamb ragu hummus, baba ghanoush, crispy eggplant and stuffed squash. The lamb ragu was definitely our favorite, although I did feel it was still a little dry (not much sauce with the lamb). The fresh pitas were so tasty. The baba ghanoush, noted as charred eggplant on the menu, definitely tasted a little smoky for me which is not a flavor I'd love with my dip but it was different. Next out was the crispy eggplant with "herbed goat cheese, tomato, arugula" - now this was delicious. Reminded me of an eggplant parm. Finally we got the mujadra stuffed squash with lentils, caramelized onion, basmati rice, whipped feta fondue. Jared liked it enough but this dish was so dry for me, I really didn't love it. We'd go back and probably just get a bunch of different dips and salatims to try next time. I've been to all of Alan Shaya's restaurants and Safta is by far my favorite. It's fresh, young, modern but not trendy and attention to detail and service are the focus. It was busy the night I went so I took a seat at the bar which is huge the bartender was extremely attentive and knowledgeable. I had few questions but with her guidance a narrowed it down to the chanterelle mushroom hummus and the Lamb Shank both were delicious but I wish I'd order a side along with the shank. Wow, Safta is one of the best restaurants that I've eaten at! I was only in denver for a couple of days, so I was super excited to only have a 20 min wait for bar seating although there were no reservations available. The staff was extremely friendly and attentive, but the real highlight was the food!! The must-try's that I recommend are the lamb ragu hummus and crispy eggplant. The lamb ragu hummus was absolutely my favorite dish. The hummus was so smooth and well seasoned. The ragu on top had an amazing oil and the lamb tasted fresh. The crunchy chickpeas on top also added a nice texture. I loved the crispy eggplant because the eggplant was perfectly crispy on the outside and the inside was so tender. I'd love to know how to prepare eggplant like that. We also ordered the Persian rice, harissa chicken, honey dill cabbage, and pickled veggies. I wouldn't order the pickled veggies. It's not worth 8$. The Persian rice was my boyfriend's favorite. I didn't love the flavor of the dish but the texture of the crispy rice was delicious. It paired well with the dried cherries too! Harissa chicken was pretty good, but there was a bit too much harissa layered on top. The chicken was well cooked and definitely not dry! I liked the cabbage but it was pretty bland. The cabbage was well cooked though. Nice and crispy! My only qualm was that they charge a 4% service fee. I don't like when restaurants charge a service fee and also expect a tip. I'd prefer to only tip or to have the tip included in the food prices. Either fully commit to paying the restaurant staff a living wage or just leave tipping up to customers! After hearing such good things about Safta I was very excited to try it! First off the restaurant is beautiful it has so many windows that allows in a lot of natural light. We came for their breakfast buffet. The buffet line so never ending and has so many options. It is a Mediterranean restaurant so you'll be able to try a lot of middle eastern dishes. The food is so noticeably fresh. The chefs are cooking right on the line, making it a unique experience. They have a pastries section of the buffet with lots of sweet options! Then they have so many breads/bagels to choose from. All variety of eggs that take breakfast to the next level. And the spreads/dips..they're endless, I love. The food is fantastic. Best restaurant in Denver. I have heard so much about this place and how awesome it was so i needed to try it, and boy did it live up to the hype! I went on a Tuesday night with a family member who came to town and my boyfriend. We got some drinks and talked for a while and the server was so nice and patient with us as we caught up. He gave us alllll the recommendations and we popped off. The whipped feta is a MUST! My boyfriend doesn't even like feta usually but goes "this is one of the best things I've eaten in Denver". We got two types of hummus (lamb and soft boiled egg) and the whipped feta to start and the pita bread that came with it was amazing. I forgot to take pictures of the entrees because we were so excited, but we got the steak, half a harissa chicken, and persian rice. Honestly was all so amazing. We had lots of leftovers too. Since we ordered plates to share, our waitress coursed all of the food appropriately. Cocktails were delicious as well. The hummus option we tried (with a lamb ragout) was great, and the fresh pita are fantastic. If I had to find any fault, I wish the chef was a tad bit more restrained with salting. That said, I'm sensitive to salt and wish the already delicious food here could stand on it's own without the extra salt. The whipped feta small plate was also delicious, as were the crispy eggplant. All in all, we really enjoyed our dinner. Valet parking is available, but not validated. We made a reservation right at the opening time of 10:30am to accommodate our schedules, meaning we had the pick of everything straight from setup. Not that we were worried about food running out, the kitchen kept everything coming. The brunch buffet is $50/person with regular drip coffee and some teas included. It's all self-serve and seamless. Our server was very kind and attentive, as were the rest of the waitstaff. While the price per person can seem steep, you certainly get your money's worth in both quality and quantity. It's also a great option for both omnivores and non-meat eaters. I had only had Safta through catering before today so I'm really glad I got to dine in. The decor is beautiful, and with the windows all around, you get great natural light when the weather is accommodating. The Source is also a cool space; there were some other small businesses set up with tables today outside of Safta. Went to Safta on a weekday night with a reservation and we were able to get seated a few minutes before. The restaurant was pretty full for a weekday. We were able to be seated in front of the open kitchen which was fun to watch and see the order and movement within the kitchen. We ordered a variety of small bites and plates and they started coming out after 20 minutes. First things first, the pita bread was honestly the star of the show. With a crisp exterior and a soft interior, it was perfect for soaking up all the different salatims. You can always ask the staff for more pita to finish your salatims. The whipped feta, the muhammara, and the labneh all were delicious; each was uniquely sweet, tangy, and creamy. I loved the labneh with a bite from the peppercorns. The gravlax salmon was light and refreshing and perfect to start off with. The Bulgarian feta borekas was nice and flaky with a sticky glaze of honey and soft cheese in the middle. The lamb kebabs were tender and perfect with the sauce; I used some pita to soak it all up. If you're looking for an upscale dining experience to celebrate, this is the place to go. read more

The culinary scene in Denver has absolutely exploded, along with everything else, the past several years, perhaps no better personified than by a Michelin-level Israel restaurant in a shared warehouse. Two days later, I remain excited and impressed by my experience at Safta, from the welcoming hosts to the friendly and knowledgeable wait staff, and, oh yeah, the brilliant cuisine. The Tunisian Tomato hummus was so fresh and delicious, as was the Muhammara, an impressive showcase of simply hazelnuts, cilantro, and chili oil, showing what you can accomplish with fresh ingredients and attention to detail. There's nothing to hide behind with Israeli cuisine, and that's the beauty of Safta - they aren't trying to. What you see is what you get in the best way possible. The falafel were excellent as well, great flavor with a just dense enough inside and light, crispy fry on the outside. The crispy eggplant was special as well, great texture complimented by herbed goat cheese (perhaps a bit too much?) and tomato. And when the bartender tells you you've got to have the babka, you listen. And I am very glad I did, boy was it delicious and perfectly executed. All of this, plus two cocktails, for about $100? After many unsuccessful attempts at visiting Safta, I finally remembered to make a reservation in advance! We visited on a Sunday afternoon for their all-you-can-eat brunch buffet. The interior was spacious and modern, with minimal decor but plenty of natural light. For drinks, I ordered the Strawberry Gazoz, which was equally tasty and beautiful to look at - so refreshing and fruity. The buffet selection was so impressive, each of us made at least 3 trips for more food. Some of my favorite items were the shakshouka, soft scrambled eggs, whipped feta, bourekas, and smoked salmon. There was also a dessert buffet with delicious baklava and pistachio scones. The brunch was $50/person not including beverages, tax, and tip, but considering how much we ate and the quality of the food, it was honestly worth it. This is such an awesome special place! I went for dinner then heard about the buffet brunch and had to come back! I was in town for 1 week and came here twice it's that excellent! We sat at the bar and our server (I think her name was Emily) was super friendly, helpful when we were deciding between dishes and just lovely all around! However, people are out here sleeping on the AYCE brunch, which is so lovely with a ton of different options that are better than what you'd get at nearly every other brunch spot in Denver. It costs more, but few places are going to give you this much variety and flavor anywhere in the city. Of course, they've got your standard pastries, avo toast, fruit, bagels (courtesy of Rosenberg's), etc. But they also have shakshuka, fresh pita bread, carved meat, perfect eggs, delicious lox, salads, and a few surprises--pretty much everything is delicious. The waitress was very attentive and also offered a lot of knowledge of the menu, foods, and drinks when it came to us having questions and making decisions. The vibe the restaurant is 10/10. I'm not a cabbage girl but i'd eat this cabbage again and again, i think the yogurt base really did it for me. You have to get the lamb ragu and murmurrah- both brilliant! I can't believe how amazing the lamb here was. The pitas are fresh out of the oven and they're fluffy - yes fluffy!! This is not your regular pita , This is probably the best pita I've had in my life (bold, yes)! Drinks were good but I think they can be better - mine was pretty strong so I surely want to explore their cocktails more. For mains, we had the lamb tagine and harissa chicken! Maybe it was an off night or we came too late (9pm reservation before closing) but the food was a little off. -lamb ragu hummus: very good, smooth hummus -pita: somewhat good ? But luke warm and only got one pita for a $16 hummus and tiny $5 babaganoush. We've been to several other Lebanese, Mediterranean restaurants that have brought fresh steaming hot pita and lavash.. this was pure laziness -lamb kabobs: Luke warm... and on the drier side -Persian rice: most unique dish, great flavors, buttery and sweet at the same time. -grilled cabbage : we got this because it was highly recommended on Yelp - boring and bland. The pita bread here was AMAZING - hot and fresh and perfectly soft. We ordered the Baba Ghanoush, Labneh, Foraged Mushroom Hummus, Lamb Kebab, Harissa Roasted Chicken, and Fattoush Salad. The quality of all the spreads were top notch - my favorite was the Labneh and my partner's favorite was the Baba Ghanoush (he said it was the best Baba Ghanoush he's ever had!). The harissa on the chicken was very flavorful with a little bit of kick and the chicken itself was cooked well (not dry at all). My least favorite was the Lamb Kebab - still good but didn't taste as unique. I would definitely recommend if you're visiting Denver! read more
