Reading the menu triggered a flashback nightmare to my days in grade school when kids would gather in a circle and dare each other to eat something disgusting When the food arrives and you take that first bite you're bombarded with dozens of flavors that refuse to blend together. Tangy, tart, savory, spicy...and that was just thr first bite! Shawarma, fried rice,, pizza, me and my friends just kept the plates moving around the table! The server was polite and didn't mind helping me learn the best way to eat the array of foods. A couple of minor negatives in my view is the multicultural feast had to be washed down with a coke instead of some exotic teas or juices. Gaia is my new favorite restaurant! As we were strolling the 16th Street Mall & hungry for lunch we "fell" upon this place & are very happy we did. We could see the menu displayed from the front door & decided to give it a try. What we appreciated was that there was an All American Burger on the menu for those that don't care for Indian spice flavors. The menu is unique...a fusion of Indian, American & Mediterranean Cuisines. In addition, you can pick your level of hot - mild, medium, hot or super hot. They are open everyday from 10AM to 3 in the morning, 3AM! We were seated right away into a comfy booth. Our server was sweet and took our drinks orders right away. We ordered Honey Naan, a Beef Tikka Masala Burger (mild) with fries, an All American Burger with fries & a Chicken Tikka Masala Calzone (mild). The Naan was wonderful, the Masala Burger was delicious, it came with lettuce, cheese, mint, chopped onion, sliced cucumbers & tikka masala sauce. Wow, what a flavorful burger, I loved it. The American Burger was good too. We were glad they had this option on the menu. Note, the fries were excellent as well, nice & crispy especially good with the dipping sauce. The star of the meal was the calzone. The combination of the chicken in the tikka masala sauce with lots of mozzarella cheese was fantastic & the dish was full of flavor. Excellent Mediterranean food! My first time here and I was pleasantly surprised I had the Cheese Samosa which is melted cheese in a puff pastry. It was delicious! For my entree, I opted for the Lamb Tikka Masala Burger. It was BOMB!!! Som many great flavors! I highly recommend. My server was a bit cold to me, but it was late and the bar crown was prevalent. The cucumber is nice on the burger to add a crunch to the burger. The biggest problem and asset to the burger is the tikka masala. It is very flavorful and rich but it doesn't blend well with the burger. The fries were amazing. They are battered fries with a nice crisp exterior and fluffy inside. Almost perfect fries but they could have used a bit more salt. I do like they serve the fries with a fry sauce but the sauce was a bit too sweet for me. Unique concept, friendly service, OK food! We visited from out of town and met up with some local Denver friends. Before coming here, I had looked at the rave reviews and menu. I've heard that Downtown Denver is not super populated in general (as in locals don't typically visit downtown) so I was not too surprised the restaurant was about 30-40% full. We were seated quickly and the service was very friendly. We ordered the cheesesteak, masala burger, shrimp korma, and momos. The momos were the best part of dinner. Everything else was so-so. The masala burger was a little dry and the korma was fine but not amazing. The cheesesteak was huge - definitely would recommend sharing. I think the staff did a good job at checking up on us - but maybe a little too much? We were probably asked 5 times if we were doing OK and if we wanted to order anything else. The restaurant was also running a promotion for a free mango lassi with a social media follow - definitely take advantage of that while you are there!
