Sag Wagon is so out of sight/ out of mind for me, which is a bummer because it's actually a pretty neat spot. I know it's changed ownership or something since I've been aware of it, but I'd always thought of it as some older yuppie cyclist bar and then when I've been there over the past two years, that is NOT the case. So near to Coe, it attracts its share of college kids and neighborhood booze hounds alike. The inside seating is limited and really the draw is the summer months with the ample outside space. The views of the lake are calming or you can get rowdy with some volleyball and lawn games. They have a small food menu in addition to the two bars. They also host a summer music series with a variety of local talent. Definitely worth checking out, especially if you're out on the bike trails. read more

This place recently changed ownership and it is a prime location for traffic using the recreation path through town. The updates look nice and some staff are friendly and helpful but others made you (the customer) feel like you were in their way. Craft beer selection was limited but I do believe they have several bottles and cans of a larger variety. Food is limited but it has always been this way. There is an outdoor bar which is a great choice. Plenty of room outside not so much inside. This is not a normal sit down restaurant but more of a pass through place. A little work on the management and I think they would have a gold mind here. Yes, you should check it out for yourself to experience the location. read more

Good drinks, fun atmosphere, but don't go for karaoke, you'll be lucky if the DJ even remembers to put you on. We sat for over 2 hours waiting to get called when we were promised at 45-60 minute wait. That DJ definitely forgot about us and a few other people who voiced their displeasure. It's a good bar, but that DJ was pretty bad. Wouldn't recommend bringing him back. read more

If I could leave no stars, I would!!!! Well I decided to try Sag Wagon for the first time on this beautiful day, and I will tell you now that I will NEVER EVER return. You couldn't even pay me to come back and visit this establishment. Amelia2 with the long blonde hair served us. This is after I had to get up from my seat (sitting there for 10min) and ask another girl working if we need to order at the bar or what because we wanted menus? Well she sent this Amelia over. Amelia had no paper to write down our order so I had to get up and follow her to the POS and say the order 3x so she could write it down. Then we waited 35min for our food. Thankfully it was actually hot when we got it. Food was subpar. Definitely not worth a wait like that. We literally almost got up and left. Our waters ran empty. My friend and I sat there talking for another 30+min before a different girl came up to us to ask if we want our check. The entire time during our visit this Amelia girl was sitting at the outside bar, drinking and eating pizza, and hanging out with her buddies. She had NO other tables AT ALL. I seriously have never had worse service in my entire life. You couldn't tell who was working and who wasn't because they all didn't do anything!!!! There was 1 bartending girl working and 1 girl on the patio running drinks. They basically seemed to be the only ones actually working and the rest were hanging out with their friends and getting paid for it apparently. Who owns this establishment??? This place has the potential to be an amazing biking hang out. Unfortunately the post covid staff completely ignores you even when you go inside to the no one wearing a mask close knit bar area. They will talk to other people for 10 minutes and completely ignore you. When a cycling group of 50 wanted to put this on their hangout list- the staff said no because they didn't know how to service them. (!) Not a way to run a business. Just too bad. read more

Tucked away out of sight between I-380 and Cedar Lake, Sag Wagon Deli and Brew is a newer operation that is aiming for a bit of a niche market. Their location is literally right off the Cedar River Trail, and thus is geared for the cycling crowd (see what I did there? eh?). The theme is bikes, accented with stools made from old-fashioned bicycle wheels, sprockets for air conditioning vents, and cycling memorabilia on the walls (think RAGBRAI and Tour deFrance jerseys). It's all inside a main room with a rated capacity for 49 people - so it's pretty small. Outside, though, is a very large patio and 3-walled shelter-style building with ample room to accommodate the mass of sweaty cyclists who stop in for a cold brew on their rides, providing a nice view of the lake. Vehicle parking is cramped (my Chrysler minivan left about an inch on either side of the space) but they're on a dead-end street so plenty of space to park your 4 wheels there. For the self-powered 2-wheel variety they have several custom-made bike racks. They have ~8 brews on tap and a small selection of liquor, with typical domestic beers available in tallboy style cans. The beer on tap is of the mid-level craft style (Boulevard Wheat and Zon, Saga IPA, shocktop, Guinness, etc) and is served in custom color-changing plastic cups. Served by animated waitstaff, I didn't have any problems getting a beer quickly. I did not personally have any food, but the cold sandwiches looked well made and are served with chips and a pickle wedge, which came out quite fast once ordered. Portion sizes were enough that my larger friends didn't finish their chips. Ambiance is pretty great, they have a jukebox and multiple tv's inside and another large screen in the outdoor shelter building, but most customers were engaged in conversation. The CR Beernuts homebrew club had our monthly meeting there intending to use the ample patio space but were thwarted by the only large thunderstorm of the summer so we filled the indoor space to near capacity. Had the weather been better I'm sure they'd have been packed on a Thursday night, as I've visited several times and had to squeeze my way to the small l-shaped bar. Great starting point for any trail rides or runs, and an even better finishing point/meeting space for your active friends. They'll need something to drive business over the winter months, but for the warmer times, it's a recommended stop. read more

We had a great ride and decided to stop at the Sag Wagon before heading home for a snack and a drink. The woman bartending inside was very attentive. We sat outside, it was around 3pm and it wasn't that busy. We saw 4 maybe 5 waiter and waitresses and not once were we acknowledged or waited on while outside. I had to get up and go inside to order a drink and some chips and queso. We saw others do the same thing. While we watched the Staff stand and chat at the register outside. The waiter had a group of people who came in that he knew and they received great service. Maybe you need to give the staff sections so the can focus on those patrons. This is mainly for the food. We went back when the kitchen was open and while I never have high expectations for bar food, this failed to make the cut. My husband and I ordered a pizza, our friends both ordered sandwiches. Let's just say that none of us were very excited with what we ordered after we finally got it. It didn't seem that busy, but it took forever. Once we had our pizza, my husband noticed that one part of the crust was burnt slightly. Being hungry, he decided to not mention it because he wanted to eat it. Our friends felt their sandwiches were somewhat skimpy on the meat and one appeared to have had been panni'ed to death. So, we might be back. My friend said they are getting ready to open another one in Center Point, so maybe it might be worth a trip up 380 and see if the food's better farther north. read more

Really good patio on a bar that caters to cyclist right off the bike path. They have parking for a couple hundred bikes. They just opened but seem to be working hard to get everything squared away. This is a great place. Small, interment, and always welcoming. I've never had a bad drink, bad beer, or bad time at the Sag. I go there often for lunch and do a build your own panini (perfect for vegetarians) and I don't leave hungry. The Bloody Mary bar is top notch and in the summer things are even better with all the outdoor games they have. I love this place and will continue to go even when there's snow. Great place, great staff, great crowd. Definitely worth going at least once and finding out for yourself. read more

Hmmm...not very impressed with service or food! Sunday evening 5:30, not super busy, but too busy for only one server. We ordered a burger, it took over 25 minutes to get it and then it was under cooked and hardly warm. They have an outdoor grill and it wasn't busy. Crazy thing was you couldn't even smell anything cooking, turn UP the grill for heavens sake!!! Our sever was nice and took half of the price off without me asking. And she said she had had other complaints ALL day! Really....not a hard problem to fix!? We stood at the outside bar with an employee right near us with no one speaking to us, so we went inside to get a beer, and even the bartender would not even acknowledge us. We were there last weekend and had horrible service! There were 3 of us, we sat on the patio table overlooking the river. There were quite a few bikers there but they were only drinking. We sat there for 20 minutes with no on stopping by. I ended going inside to flag a server. We all ordered beers, canned beers. We then waited 15 more minutes for our beers. We all ordered salads. After about 30 minutes of ordering our food, a different sever came over to the table next to us to tell them the kitchen is backed up a bit. After another 5 minutes, our server comes out and says our food will be another 20 minutes....for SALADS. We have been there now over an hour and no food. A cozy local watering hole catering to area cyclists riding the nearby bike path, Sag Wagon is cozy on the inside and vast on the outside. Although the outdoor area is welcoming with fully covered, umbrella covered and uncovered areas and include corn hole and sand volley ball areas, the condition of the outdoor bathrooms and quality of the pre-fabricated but expensive pizza detracts from the overall experience. For $14.99 and $1.50 for each extra item, the pizza you get has a tough crust And cardboard flavor. It is expensive and not worth it in the least. If visiting, ride the trails, bring nutrition bars or hope for a local food truck to arrive and have a beer to add to your experience. The crowd is decidedly local, which is great for local color. This will be a limited visit. Spend your cash for meals at other restaurants, and if you want craft brews, visit them locally. Otherwise, enjoy this place for the charm it has--a place to grab a beer or two with some local color. read more

Service can be really good or really bad, depends on who you get. There is one server there, not sure of her name but be ready to wait 20 minutes for a drink and 20 minutes for your bill after you ask for it. They have a great patio!! Love how it's right on the river and kind of "away from things." Very small menu and the cook (I don't want to call him a chef) refuses to make special orders. read more

excellent idea, what cyclists have wanted and needed for the longest, beautiful view overlooks cedar lake, reasonable prices, topshelf drinks, would like some vegetarian options on weekends and larger menu on weekends, but the burgers and brats are topnotch, service was great and on weeknites wait for pizza, but it was well worth the wait!!!! overall love the place and will be back regularly! read more
