Finally!!!!!! I found someone who can cut my hair. Cassidy was such a perfect match for what I imagine the results. I had walking out the door. I have been bleached blonde for the last five and ready to close that chapter. Cassidy did a glaze to ease the transition from blonde back to my natural color and it came out beautifully every day. I'm getting compliments still a month later. Plus my haircut came out wonderfully sometimes within two weeks. You can tell if it's good or not this is still a winner for me. Living in northern Bergen County, traveling down to the shop insouthern Bergen County was not as scary or difficult as I thought . It was a straight shot down Route 17 and then a quick jig and a jog, 4 stop lights, and your there. A beautiful salon with one of the best kept secrets of Bergen County - Cassidy is a winner!! Such a lovely salon! Upon entering Sage & Ash I felt a sense of absolute relaxation. The space itself is so gorgeous, but the people who work here are even more wonderful. The owners, Linda & Melissa, are so kind and attentive. The other stylists are such warm people as well. Everyone there makes you feel so welcome! As a curly girl I don't trust many people with my hair (if you're a curly girl you know what I mean)! Linda transformed my dull frizzy hair, to a beautiful, hand painted, blonde masterpiece! I love that Sage & Ash has such a wide range of all natural hair products to use and purchase. Love everything about this salon. Cassie has been doing my hair for four years, and has been doing an amazing job this far so I was more than willing to follow her to her new salon. There is pretty ample street parking, and they also have a small lot in the back for clients to use. This salon has such a cute and chic vibe to it in everything from the decor to the atmosphere. The stations are all distanced enough that no one is on top of each other, but still has the small close-knit salon feel. All the stylists get along really well and you can tell they have a great time, which makes for a great environment for their clients as well. Everyone is wearing masks and sanitizing their stations between each client. I had a glaze and a haircut, and as always Cassie did an amazing job! The product line they use also SMELLS AMAZING!! My favorite part is always the little head massage during the wash, and this time I had her do some beach waves for styling. I was looking for a salon to get my hair done since I recently moved to Rutherford and I'm so glad I found S&A! I needed my hair done before the holidays, and Hope (thank god!) was available to take me same day. She is AWESOME! I just went back for a highlight touch up today, and again, great color/cut, left feeling awesome. Not only is Hope super talented but when I'm there...it's like super fun! The sweet girl who did my hair, did an amazing job for only doing hair a short amount of time. The reason I'm giving 2 stars is because I felt they aren't honest about their pricing. Online on their website a balayage treatment is $160 I believe. This is what I had done, no haircut or anything extra. I ended being charged $350 BEFORE tip. Now I understand $160 is an estimate based on different factors. But I did not expect to be charged DOUBLE the original quoted price. And then obviously I'm going to give my artist a good tip on top of that because I believe in always tipping well-- so my total came out to well over $400. When the price online says $160. If I knew I was going to be spending over $400, I would've booked somewhere more high end with someone who has more experience... I'm not sure if I was ripped off because I'm a travel nurse from out of state or they just charge that much for a novice stylist. ‍ read more

I've come here a few times and they normally do a pretty good job! Their prices are affordable and the stylists are very sweet. Unfortunately after my most recent visit I will not be returning. I requested strawberry/ peach blonde hair with a little bit more strawberry. I showed her 4 different photos of the desired color. When talking about my hair I said I always wanted to be brunette but was most definitely NOT ready to do that and that going down the strawberry/ peach route would be fun. She mentioned adding a little bit of copper and I said "sure as long as its not too coppery, I don't want it to be too vibrant". Longer story short I now have auburn hair. No longer blonde. Also, the red is very vibrant. I sobbed immediately after I left. I have to preface, these people are extremely sweet and talented but its very disheartening when you ask for one thing and get something completely different and then they want to charge you even more money to get you to your desired hair color (even though they screwed up). To top it off I was going to go somewhere else but I was told I would be able to easily achieve what I wanted in a short amount of time for little charge. I'm now booking an appointment else where spending the original amount I was trying to avoid. Giving 2 stars since the hair color I received was at least pretty. However, I'm beyond disappointed and dissatisfied with my experience. read more

I went to get an overdue hair cut. And I am so in love with my new hair style. Front desk person was so helpful over the call and I was able to "walk-in." I was set up a stylist, Summer, right away. It was great working with Summer, great conversationalist, talented, patient, and worked with me to achieve my desired look. Salon was clean and aesthetically beautiful. I have been a loyal customer of Cassie for many years since she was working at Hilights Salon. I drove 2 hours, 1 hour each way since I live far. I agreed to become a customer at Sage and Ash Salon when she left Hilights Salon. Two days before my daughter's wedding she cancelled my appointment due to Ida which is understandable but she refused to reschedule me 1 day before my daughter's wedding when I needed my grays to be covered and hair highlighted the most!! She did not respond to my texts or phone calls. Very unprofessional and unreliable. It was a blessing in disguise though because 90% of the time she messes my hair up and I found a great stylist in my area who explained to me what Cassie has been doing wrong. My hair now looks perfect so thank you Cassie for being unreliable and unprofessional! If you have a big event make sure not to book with Cassie. Poor quality of work and poor work ethics read more

As I'm writing this review, half an hour comes to close that I have been waiting on hold. Let me disclose that I've never been to this salon and I will never try again. I called to asked if they had any time to take a new customer before the new year, which I assumed they didn't but it's always worth a shot. If they didn't, it's a simple no but we can maybe schedule you in the future. I've been hearing the clicking of being put back on hold numerous times. I don't really understand how a salon would feel comfortable doing business this way no matter how established your company is.
