Pretty good cidery. They had a broad assortment of ciders but most trended towards dry. My server was extremely friendly. I told her I wasn't sure what to get and she walked me through their list and was happy to make recommendations based on my preferences. Their apples are sourced from the Shenandoah Valley, so they can claim to be 100% Virginia. My favorite was the rather basic "Dry Reserve". But hey - I like the classics!

Friendly staff and willing to explain all their ciders. Mostly dry which we absolutely love. We did flights of 5 and loved them all. Cool location and cool vibe. Definitely a must see. Here for a week vacation and we will be back.

Sage Bird is such a great addition to downtown Harrisonburg. The place itself is so cute and lively with limited indoor and outdoor bubbles available! Also pet friendly and BYOF (Bring Your Own Food/Snacks!). The staff is super friendly and are always ready to chat with you about anything. My partner and I each got a flight to try their new ciders and we were not disappointed! If you are a lover of cider, this is the place for you!

My girlfriend, satisfied with the flight that she loved to death!

I'm not normally a cider fan. My girlfriend on the other hand, is a huge fan. I was pleasantly surprised though I actually thoroughly enjoyed the both aromatic and tasty cider. My girlfriend recommends the summer harvest sour. Now, there is a single, small down side which is just that they lack small shareable plates. So I would recommend eating beforehand. All in all, 4/5 wonderful alcohol, wonderful staff, just gotta work on the food a bit. Well done.

My husband and I came here right when it opened on a Saturday morning. I had read the owners story online and found it inspiring and creative all at the same time. The cider house was located in an old garage building. The decor was modern, a mix of wooden tables, wooden tap labels, and wooden lights along with metal/aluminum tables and chairs. There was an old apple press that was along one wall, a feature of the cidery. They had another wall of merchandise - hats, sweatshirts, shirts and a variety of additional items. The garage doors were open with a few tables and chairs sitting out front. The back of the building had tables with small clear tents covering them - we did not explore back here. The ciders - this was a different experience! We ordered a flight to share so we could try a variety. The bartender explained their process of producing the cider and emphasized the purity of them - no additives outside of what was listed on the description of the ciders. Most of them were on the drier side which I did not mind as they were smooth and pure tasting to the tongue. It allowed the variety of apples to shine! We tried one that had a hint of cranberry and it was so subtle but enjoyable as you really had to allow yourself to taste the cider. This was a pleasant experience. The purity of the cider, the customer service, the decor/location, the reasonable prices for amount of product - we had a good time!

Sage Bird Ciderworks has become a staple of Harrisonburg. Their cider is phenomenal, and they regularly have new drinks to try! The atmosphere is super relaxed, live, and modern. They also encourage you to bring your takeout here. A must when you're in the mood for a refreshing drink! Their branding is also super cool.

I have found the front staff and the wait staff to be lacking in their consideration towards restaurant guests. It seems that they are picking and choosing whom they choose to grant a great experience to. Service: The front staff and waitress we had carried an air of attitude when dealing with me and my family. It seemed like they were not keen to accommodate a few of our basic requests which essentially boiled down to laziness. To be honest, they are very petty when it comes to getting a table on their rooftop...when my family (of 5) came in, they told us it was first come first serve and sat us inside. Another family came in with 3-4 adults and 2 kids after we were seated, to which they promptly moved them outside even though they were inside as well when a spot opened up. I'm not truly understanding the mentality of service here and frankly thought for a nice establishment there would be better decorum and attitude towards guests. Food: overall pretty good. I found the food and drink to be solid. In summary, the food is good here but doesn't surpass the service we received.

The experience usually great, which is why we keep coming back, and the menu is always fun! The service started great and the food came looking fantastic as usual, until I found a long hair in my bowl. Molly was very apologetic once we showed her the hair and she took it inside to show the kitchen. I told her I don't want another bowl , as I didn't want the food to go to waste and didn't have time to wait for a new one. Here is were the service turned south; - Molly didn't come back to check on us or fill the water cups - We didn't get a discount of any kind in the check, as you would normally expect! - I expected the chef or the manager on duty to come out and apologize, but that didn't happen. - Finally, Molly brought our check when we finished eating and didn't ask if we are interested in desserts, as typically the case! Just very odd reaction to an issue Like this, and shows lack of professionalism and training on behalf of the management on how to deal with bad customer experience like a hair in the food. By the way, I'm bold, so the long hair is from the kitchen!

After figuring out parking (we ended up on the side nearest to the Daily News Record) it was a short walk to the restaurant. The staff here is wonderful. Our hostess greeted us, even mentioning the birthday celebration and upon hearing it was our first time reassured us we were in great hands with Jimmy our server and he would walk us through the experience. No truer words have been spoken Jimmy was excellent in his descriptions, recommendations, and the history lesson on the significance of the restaurant and it's name. Simply lovey all around. We started with the bacon wrapped dates and the tuna tartare. Both were delicious; the dates came in 4 pieces which was enough to share without making you full and the sauces were great. The tartare came with some excellent sauced and salted tortilla chips which accentuated the taste of the tuna. Recommend if you like fresh fish. For entrees we had the duck breast and the Alaskan cod special. They were excellent. The duck was crispy and tender while the cod was simply a flavor explosion with the kale, potatoes, and purees that accompanied it. I also recommend their cocktails and mocktails. We had the signature cocktail and a dragon fruit "nojito" which I can't wait to have in the summertime as a refresher. To close out the night we had the bread pudding special which came with figs and vanilla bean ice cream. It was a great way to celebrate the birthday and to discover what will surely be a new favorite.

Lots of prom kids and college students filled the place. We were quickly seated in a nice booth and Nate our server helped us with some stout beers. We had a milk stout and a caramel macchiato stout the latter of which was the best. Looking at the menu I have to say it was not your standard ale house fair. It was definitely "elevated" in this regard. We asked to split a 2 soft shell entree with broccolini & seasoned mash, a bowl of crab bisque and a pierogi sampler. We also asked for an extra plate, to which Nate said he would take care of it. When the food arrived it was divided perfectly. Nate had split the bowl of soup into 2 small bowls and he divided the entree and sides onto 2 plates. The soft shell crabs were HUGE, the largest I had ever seen, and crisply fried to perfection. The sides were equally exquisite in their flavor and preparation. The crab bisque was loaded with fresh lump crabmeat and perfectly seasoned. The pirogies were also excellent in flavor and presentation. It was the most satisfying meal I'd had in a while (could be because I was craving soft shells) Needless to say we were very happy with the food in every way and were stuffed as we asked for the check. Nate/Nathaniel really made the experience as he was highly attentive, though caring for many tables, and was quick to take care of our every need. The place was really rocking with customers and everyone there was having a great time. We'll definitely be back and let everyone we know what a top notch establishment Capital Ale House in Harrisonburg is.

The check had regular instead of happy hour pricing (thankfully i asked to see the breakdown when she just wanted our card). The beer was ok, the food was mediocre, and the service sucked!!
