I stopped in here last Saturday at 10:30 am and when I pulled into the parking lot, I was…read moreunderwhelmed as Blanchard's is in a strip mall between a Subway and a donut shop. "How good can strip mall BBQ be?" was my initial thought but the line of 10 people waiting to get in that early eased my thinking. To answer my own question, strip mall BBQ can apparently be great! I got a 2-meat plate with the brisket, Dr Pepper glazed sticky ribs, green chili corn casserole and smokey beans. As you are ordering the brisket they ask if you want it sliced or chopped, and if you want lean, fatty or burnt ends. I knew it would be good then. The lean brisket was solid, a little peppery on the bark. I'd have liked it to be a little smokier and the bark a little more flavorful but that's the only complaint you will get in this review. The Dr Pepper sticky ribs were phenomenal! Sweet, smokey dessert like meaty goodness. It was almost pornographic what I did to those bones. The smokey beans lived up to that name for sure and the green chili corn casserole was unique and delicious. This is a definitely a place I will repeat when I am back in Lafayette.

It's good BBQ. I can't honestly say that it matches the price. The price reflects a full service…read morerestaurant, not a wait in line, order at the counter experience. It is a small place in a strip mall, so seating is limited. That being said the last time I was there, there was quite a line, so obviously people believe that it is worth it. Take your own data. For me, it is just a bit pricey for what you get.

This place deserves far more attention than it gets and easily outstrips any other BBQ restaurant…read morein Lafayette. Trust me, this hidden gem is the best in local barbecue. First, let's talk the food. As a native Texan, I have a certain taste for real BBQ. And here in Lafayette, this is as close to the genuine article as you can find. The brisket is magnificent and very generous helpings of sides are always available! Staff is always friendly and has been very kind. They are always anxious to strike up a conversation and I highly recommend doing so! Price is also right for the portions they give. And they give very generous portions. Ambiance and environment is another plus about this place. The place feels like an authentic Texas or Carolina-style barbecue joint, complete with animal skins and hides, farm tools, and branding irons for decor. A roaring fireplace is in the room, albeit here in the heart of southern Louisiana, it will probably never be used. A tv is available for those anxious for entertainment with their meal. My only complaint about this place are the hours. Sadly, it is only open during a very specific time slot and that is at lunch time, Mondays thru Fridays, for about two hours or so. But all the other facets more than make up for this! If you're in the mood for quality barbecue in Lafayette, drop by this very awesome place for the genuine article!

It's probably one of the best (of few) BBQ joints in the Lafayette/Broussard area. The brisket…read moretastes great with plenty of side options to choose from. Unfortunately they are only open for lunch, with a very tight window to eat. They were sold out of a couple things when we arrived. The ambiance fits the style; very rustic, with plenty of neat things (tools, etc) hanging on the walls to look at. Being from out-of-town, I typically dine at more Cajun and local-style cuisines while visiting, but this was a good change of pace. I'm from an area where there are a lot of BBQ joints, i think it was par for the course; but certainly a bright spot in the area. Enjoyed it, and worth the visit again!

I like order brisket and pulled pork here, both are pretty decent. I recently tried the jalapeno cheddar sausage based on a friend's recommendation, but I found it to be a little dry...hopefully this was just a off day because the flavor was great and my friend absolutely raves about this sausage. They offer different specials all throughout the week and the day I went it was a two meat, two side plate with a drink for under $10. Not a bad deal! I chose the potato casserole, salad, pulled pork and jalapeno cheddar sausage. It also comes with a roll that is not to my liking...it's too dense? Hard? Yeasty? I don't know. It's just not that great. They also have their own BBQ sauce, pickle and onion bar. Their spicy sauce is delicious and really packs a punch! Try it but if spicy isn't your thing proceed with caution. They also have sweet tea and lemonade. Will I return? Yes. Dickey's deserves a try even for true BBQ aficionados!
