It's insanely popular and now I know why. First of all let me just say that there is a huge debate about who has the best burger in Lafayette. This is a burger type of town and everyone seems to want to throw their hat in the ring. I love a good burger just as much as the next person, so the friendly competition is fine by me. I ordered the Hawaiian Cheese Burger and it was perfect...a deliciously seasoned and hand formed half pound beef patty with bacon, pineapple and pepper jack cheese. Yum! It comes with a pickle spear and a bag of chips (Zapp's, of course) and was just under $10. Female bartender's friends were across the bar from us and they all seemed to be having a fun time. Got a lot of attention. They were loud and talking trash. We were totally ignored, and once we had enough, we just walked out. NEVER TO RETURN!! We live around the corner and have visited this location many many times. We want to love it, because it's so close and has food, drink and indoor/outdoor spaces. BUT, this is not the first time service has been terrible. Who Put My Catfish in Witness Protection?…read more This place used to be one of my favorite spots in Broussard. Great atmosphere, great service, and my family ate here so often they should have considered putting our name on a booth. Unfortunately, the menu changes have turned this into a completely different experience. Let's start with the catfish. Somewhere between the old menu and the new one, the catfish fillets entered witness protection. What arrived on my plate looked less like catfish and more like a collection of heavily breaded suggestions of catfish. I've seen french fries wider than these strips. If there was actual fish inside, it was hiding better than Bigfoot. The spicy shrimp wrap also appears to have retired from the spice business. It now contains enough pepper jelly to qualify as a dessert, and so much of it that the wrap becomes a soggy engineering failure halfway through eating it. Then there are the onion rings. Calling them onion rings feels generous. They looked like someone lost a ring toss tournament and served the equipment. The frustrating part is that I genuinely loved this place. I live nearby and used to come here regularly. I even tried reaching out through the website before posting this review and never received a response. I hate leaving negative reviews, but somebody needs to stage an intervention for that catfish. This is Acadiana. We have standards. And right now, that catfish is filing a formal complaint against whoever approved it.

I also really loved the loaded nachos as it was laced with savory hamburger meat and not the grainy taco meat that usually ruins a proper nacho dish. The fried pickles and boneless wings were also well-done and exactly what you would expect from a greasy spoon. I was expecting more of a restaurant and less of a bar but this particular location is essentially a bar that serves decent food. 5/10 decent quality food but I probably wouldn't return!
