    Chocolate Mousse

Beautiful restaurant at the top of the JW. After a long day of traveling we wanted something tasty and easy and the Saga delivered. We went early by Italian standards- 7pm and were seated immediately. An assortment of finger foods - olives, flatbread, marinara was brought quickly. I got the pasta and my wife ordered the stuffed squid. Both came quickly and we outstanding. Clearly fresh and handmade. Staff was attentive and friendly, checking on us offer and even bringing a few treats. As were were hotel guests we were greeted by name which was very nice. Prices were in line with what I would expect for such a beautiful setting and for food of this quality. Oh, the chocolate mousse was a fantastic end to our meal.

We were really excited for Sagra and truly were expecting more given its exclusive location and price point. Unfortunately, it wasn't one of the best meals we had in Venice. We felt that the menu was limited and although I appreciated its creativity, it felt very expensive for what we got. It was the first meal in Venice where we left a bit hungry after paying a pretty penny! We had the torta as an appetizer and it was just too small. For entrees, I had the pasta with octopus and my partner had bucatini with meatballs. My pasta was delicious and so was my partner's, but portions were more on the smaller side. Thankfully mine was a bit bigger, but his had more meatballs than pasta. Come on, Sagra, no need to be stingy with the pasta. Service was really good but the whole experience felt rushed. We were done with dinner in no time. One of our favorite things about Europe is being able to take our time dining and not be rushed, but it felt quite opposite here. Also -- it's ridiculous that they charge per person for the table/to make a reservation. The views are great but at night you can't see much.

I understand the mixed reviews on this place - some dishes are amazing, others miss the mark completely. Also, service can be completely, totally and utterly PAINFULLY slow. The closer you get to dessert, the longer things take. Which is really too bad, because dessert is one of their strong suits. Our first night here, we had a party of 15. Everything was served family style and required no one to look at a menu (except for drinks). The meat and cheese board was huge! Plenty of selections! Our table was particularly smitten with the little squares of fried dough to dip in honey. I enjoyed the arancini. I found it to be more flavorful than you find at a lot of places. But the caprese Salad is what blew me away! The mozzarella was the softest, creamiest, most delicious I've ever had! I could eat that every day. For me, both of the pastas were disappointing. Maybe because expectations are particularly high when you're in Italy? One was seafood ravioli - very popular at our table. The other had red sauce, parm crips and pistachios. I absolutely loved their red sauce!! But there was so little of the sauce and so much of the thick noodle. I can say that the noodle was cooked al dente and nicely salted. Lastly, we all shared a plate of desserts. The hazelnut brownie and tiramisu were definitely my favorites! But everything was really quite impressive. Even the desserts/flavors I wouldn't normally go for were all divine! The next night was more casual. I went for the caprese Salad again. And for my main, hubby and I shared lamb and gnocchi. Both were underwhelming - not a lot of flavor, not a lot of anything going on. This time, we ended with gelato. My husbands pistachio was by far the best I've ever had!! And my scoop of chocolate was very, very rich (think 75% dark chocolate). The prices are high, some dishes are misses and things can be slow. But the staff is very friendly and some of the food is incredible!!

Don't waste your money. We booked a 3 night stay in the hotel. We had high expectations, but were very disappointed in this restaurant. We spent 170 EURO. Yes, close to $200 US, for a terrible meal with great views. The service was kind, but slow and unorganized, and the food was the worst food we had on our entire Italian vacation! It was expensive, poor quality food. The dessert was the only thing that was good. We had the 4 piece shareable to start, followed by the gnocchi, the seared turbo, and finished with the broken tiramisu. The food was so bland. It had no flavor. The fish and mussels did not taste fresh, and the fish smelled like it had been sitting around for days. The skin was gross and soggy! It was really hard to eat. The dessert was delicious. It helped take the taste of fish out of my mouth. I love fish and thought this was one of the worst fish dishes I've ever had in my life. I would order the desert again, it was good, and drinks were ok. Service was very kind, but slow and unorganized. For example, we ordered a red wine, but our waiter accidentally brought out a white. He (kindly) blamed my partner for the mistake. He changed it, but insisted that my partner ordered the white wine. He didn't. Throughout the meal we had three different people checking in, but they were not attentive, and it took forever to get things they offered (water and bread). However, when they were at our table, they were always very nice...even when they were blaming us for a mistake. Ultimately, the food is not worth it. For $170 Euro total, I wish we would've taken the 30 minute boat ride back to the island. The rest of the time we were at the hotel we did. Venice recommendations: Excellent food at Nevodi and Al Covo.

Came here for lunch and dinner while staying at the resort. Lunch was good, but the price left us feeling just ok about the experience. The $9 per person cover charge seemed steep for a quick lunch. Dinner was great. We came at sunset and had braised short rib. It was delicious and our server was fantastic. You can't beat the views of the water especially at sunset. Highly recommend and evening meal if you're staying at the resort!

Actually a good restaurant for a resort! We only are here once for lunch but was pleased with the food. We had a nice glass of wine along with a cheese and meat platter. It's nice because you can choose which cheeses and meats you'd like to try and they'll bring you a small, medium or large tray. Also these breadsticks they have are so yummy - reminds me of focaccia bread! I tried the pumpkin risotto with duck confit and I am usually not a pumpkin fan but the flavor was so light it was fantastic with the duck as a perfect compliment. I couldn't stop eating it! Their seafood soup looked amazing - served in a big pot overflowing with seafood. You could smell it throughout the entire restaurant. Their pasta was also perfectly cooked and all fresh ingredients. The restaurant itself is pretty and you can't beat being on the rooftop!

Definitely cool to dine on a rooftop restaurant on an island. While you could make out the Venice rooftops in the distance, its not like seeing a view of Las Vegas or New York. The skyline is low, and there aren't many lights. The food (I had the steak) and wine was pretty good. The staff friendly and patient (we asked a lot of questions about the menu). If you are staying at the Marriott, you should definitely give it a try. If not, there is a 20 minute one-way boat ride (free Marriott Shuttle Boat) out to the island.

Lots and lots of restaurants to choose from in Venice but this unassuming restaurant is a true gem…read more It's easy to miss as it's tucked in a corner right by a bridge. Once inside they have a couple tables with small window views of any gondolas passing by. We started off with a plate of lightly fried sardines topped with pickled white onions. The fry on the fish was super light and those vinegar-y onions were the perfect pairing. We cleaned that plate. The lasagna was well balanced with the meat, sauce, cheese. The squid ink pasta was chewy/al dente with a subtle touch of seafood flavors giving the cuttlefish. It was very umami but nothing too overbearing. Delicious! It's a Family business that was been around for many years. Grazie to the friendly staff and chef!

The jovial mood with the waiters with big personalities is gone. The menu you can find online is no longer available so you get a very limited menu to choose from--nearly entirely seafood. So if you have anyone in your party that just wants pasta with a red meat sauce or a non seafood lasagne, not available. We were a party of 8. Two people ordered the scallop appetizers. Pretty presentation on shells. 3 tiny scallops in the shells. More like an amuse bouche. Totally disappointing. The linguine with clams as an entree had clams so small you almost needed a magnifying glass to see them. Couldn't taste the clams and annoying to try to eat something so tiny , and just try to eat the pasta with all those tiny shells. The baby shrimp on polenta was actually good. But again the shrimp were like tiny hatchlings tempura battered. Tasted okay except for those that were soggy from the polenta that was very soupy. I wanted the gnocchi with crab which was on the very limited menu but no longer available. The alternative was gnocchi with a sea bass sauce which I chose but didn't like at all. The gnocchi were good but the sauce wasn't at all for me. We had to continue to ask for side dishes for the bread, butter, olive oil, salt and pepper. We will not return. Poor value for your money. Plus there is a cover charge and service included in your bill which was a surprise. Very sad to see our favorite Venetian restaurant decline so much.
