When I'm in town I've been going to Sahara Lounge with friends for years for Ladies Night which is every 3rd Friday of the month. We have so much fun! We dance and sweat up a storm. Make sure you wear comfortable shoes and bring a hair tie if your hair is long. I like they have a backyard area where you can go chill and have a conversation with people. There is even a food truck that my friends say serves really good food. I haven't tried their food yet, but it's nice to have it handy for those who haven't had a chance to eat or like to have food while they are drinking. My go to drink there is a tall ranch water and they make it authentically with Topo Chico, which I very much appreciate because many places these days just put soda water from a tap. The people who show up for Ladies Night are so diverse, awesome, friendly, and cool. They rotate DJ's so it's not always the same one. Sometimes the DJs or their friends will even play instruments like trumpet or sax with their sets. It is nonstop dancing! I will definitely always be there when I'm not traveling.

Great place for dancing! Heading back soon. I'm not from Austin, so... :) Everyone there is nice, polite and friendly from employees to customers!!

I enjoyed returning to Sahara Lounge after being away for a while. Such a nice crowd, delicious and creative drinks - including several non alcohol options - friendly staff and GREAT music. This is truly one of Austin's semi-hidden gems.

Being able to attend a show at this legendary, old-Austin establishment was stuff dream are made of. We met the owner. Eileen and she's just such a rad human. The club and its outdoor patio remind me of the Bahamas, Jamaica, etc. Very welcoming crowd and staff. Bands were so behind incredible! Danced the night away!

Dress up, dress down, sparkle! ALL are welcome here!

I don't go out much at night, but one NOTABLE EXCEPTION is that I go REGULARLY to Ladies Night (3rd Fridays) whenever I'm in town. This is THE HAPPIEST PLACE ON EARTH! Seriously! One night dancing here is better than a day at Disney! ;) EVERYONE is smiling & dancing to the GROOVE that the DJs are playing (70s & 80s disco, funk & soul). EVERY gender, age, race, etc etc are there & having fun! There's a big outdoor area, too, with a food truck, too cool off (it does get WARM inside, so dress LIGHT!) When u go, chances are I'm up near the front dancing by the stage (or ON IT!) COME JOIN THE FUN!! ALL ARE TRULY WELCOME HERE!

I'm not sure why this place isn't a 5. It's a 5 in my book! This is off the beaten path in Austin which makes me love it even more. Love a hidden gem! We went on a Saturday night and the cover was $12 cash for $13 card. The cover included a buffet and not one but TWO live bands! The buffet was showing up! They had an African beef stew, rice, and a vegan bean soup. The food had so much depth in flavor and you knew it was cooking all day. The love! The bands were bringing the sass. The first was a Latin band and the second was an African band. When I tell you I danced 5+ miles according to my Fitbit. It was a vibe all night long. Speaking of vibes - this place is grunge in the best way! It reminds me of a Midwest garage from 1990s. All the twinkle lights. They had fun NA options albeit expensive for no alcohol. I'll be back! I will absolutely be back.

So fun. Great music, great vibe, great crowd. Everyone else's 5-star reviews are correct. Go for Africa Night, you won't regret it! If your ears are sensitive, consider bringing earplugs, because it gets LOUD! Awesome place. Drinks are very reasonably priced and the bartenders are great.

Honestly, this is my favorite bar in the world. It seems to attract a great group of people, and the music is always killer.

My favorite part was the DJ was also playing electric guitar to accompany some of the songs in his lineup. It was really cool. I've never seen a DJ do that before. The whole time we were there the service and ambience and tastes were top-notch, but the DJ piece really created a memorable experience that leaves me wanting to come back.

We waited maybe 15 minutes at the walk-in line as others progressively started to pile on behind us. Then again, even people in the reservation line were waiting. This is definitely the kind of place that wants you to wait. The kind of place that wants to build a line outdoors to intrigue onlookers. We were treated nicely, but we definitely could have gotten in right away. By the time we walked in, the place was probably at 60% capacity. It was standing room only at the bar, but not overcrowded by any means. There is a dress code, but it's not entirely clear what it is. Some guy dressed to the 9s got turned away for not having sleeves whereas I got in with sneakers and a t-shirt. They ask for your cellphones upon entering and give you a key in exchange, but there doesn't seem to be any security to enforce it if you don't want to give them up. I have no problem with their policy, but I bet a lot of customers do. Interestingly, their little social experiment seemed to have a positive effect, where we ended up talking to strangers and vice versa. The Powder Room may be making America social again.

This is gonna be located on the fifth floor in the JW Marriott. You have to walk through the pool area as this is on the west side of the building. Well, we didn't have a reservation and we were able to get sat right away. I forget the name of the individual who assisted us by placing our order. I ended up getting the espresso martini, and then my other person got an old-fashioned. I was asked if I wanted a shot of Bailey's with the espresso martini and that to me would've been way too much. The martini itself was almost kind of smoky. Not your typical kind of very crisp espresso martini had a nice foam on top of it. We also ended up ordering the sliders to go along as we had dinner reservations, and that bacon jam on there is magnificent. The sliders were all juicy and very well put together bun was very soft and the flavor of everything was really good. I would totally go back just for the sliders. Overall the service was great. The views were also quite stunning of downtown and the ambience overall which is very chill. The front part of the bar was actually closed due to a private event so I can imagine getting to take photos on that corner would be really pretty to see.

The couches were so comfortable and the ambiance was so pretty. In terms of the drinks and food, it was okay! Got the job done, but nothing to rave about. I enjoyed the sliders the most. I enjoyed my drink as well (5th Floor Cooldown) once we added the extra sweetener we requested. Without it, I wasn't a huge fan (wasn't sweet, despite being told that it was). Valet parking is only $15 (for 2 hours) with validation. I appreciated that, as it made parking not a headache.
