I recently had a procedure here after months of planning and rescheduling at another facility. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I am happy to have finally been scheduled at Sahara Surgery Center as it was a better process and overall experience than at the original place.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]The staff were courteous if not a little slow.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I signed in and waited 10 or so minutes to be called up to the desk for check-in. I waited another 20 or 30 minutes to be taken to the back for surgery prep. They took my vital signs, had me change into a hospital gown and placed the IV which was used for a bag of saline and the anesthesia which was soon to come. Then the real waiting began. My doctor/surgeon had another patient ahead of me so I had to wait for him to finish and the OR to be prepped. About an hour and a half of sitting behind a curtain with no one to talk to and no phone to play on. That was packed away with my clothing. It was a little unsettling when a bunch of staff ended their shift and left. I really felt alone then. But there were still a couple of people left to check on me. One showed me the way to the restroom just minutes before being called back to the OR. I was grateful for that. The team in the OR were great. They asked what music I wanted to fall asleep to. I started talking about different music and brought up a band that I like. That was all I remember for the next several hours. LOL My procedure lasted over 3 hours. I then had a presumably long time in the recovery area. I was pretty out of it for a while. I remember talking to the nursing staff with my eyes closed. They helped me to get dressed. With my eyes closed. I remember joking with them that I would just sleep there that night since I could hardly keep my eyes open. Much less actually sit up. But eventually I came to enough to go home. The team at the Sahara Surgery Center were excellent in my experience. They took good care of me there at the facility. [[HIGHLIGHT]]What really impressed me was when they called a few days later to see how I was doing. Two different people called.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I hope I don't have to go through any more procedures like this again for a long time. But if I do, I hope it can be at Sahara Surgery Center. read more

I went there for a trigger finger surgery and [[HIGHLIGHT]]the whole process was with a really nice touch from nurses and my doctor[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]], i was nervous at the beginning of the surgery but they are very professional and they make me feel in good hands, the check in was a little disappointing cause they notify me the day before that I had to bring 365 dollars for the anesthesia and some excuses that my platinum insurance doesn't cover but anyway the surgery was made by a great professional doctor JAMES VAHEY. read more

I arrived to the front desk staff having heaters and a heating pad on. It was so cold that I finally had to leave after being in the back and the doctor being late. It was unbelievably cold and I would never schedule anything here. I had to keep going outside to warm up and I had a sweatshirt on in the summer. They said it was cold for "hygienic " reasons. Check-in was pretty simple. The lady was normal gave me paperwork to sign registered me in then I sat for maybe 10-15 minutes. I was called back with the nurse where I changed into a gown for surgery. They took my blood pressure and asked me more questions about my medication's and anything I was allergic to. Signed a few more consents placed the IV in my arm. Waited a little bit and was walked into the surgery room. Then I laid down they covered me with a blanket which was nice, because I was cold and Doctor came in with the Anesthesiologist. They explained what they were going to do they numbed the area then I was out. Literally felt like I was asleep for five minutes the nurse was there asked how was o doing and if I was feeling nauseous or if I needed anything the process went fairly quick she helped me get dress provided me with discharge papers and I was on my way everything went smooth. I had no issues. PS: the waiting room was a little much with Sesame Street themed walls, maybe it's time for updated plan colored painted walls. read more

These people are freaking fantastic! They are so sweet the entire time you're there. The only down side is after you get your IV, you are seated in a Sesame Street themed room before you get your procedure. That room is highly uncomfortable and I was freezing the whole time. They did give me two blankets, but I just couldn't get comfortable between the high seat, no foot rest, and the hyperactive walls. I was contacted in regards to a family member of mine I had dropped off earlier. The nurse on the phone was cutting out, and I just kept saying "Hello? You're cutting out" over and over again until she said, "Yes, hello? Is this Emily?" I said yes and she hung up. So a nurse calls me, I know she can hear me because she acknowledged me at the end of her spiel, and she hangs up after confirming she said what she was required to say with no further information. I call back and the number doesn't work. Panicked and understandably so, I rushed over to the surgery center, asking Siri over and over again to call them and repeatedly getting put on hold and then having the call disconnected. The woman at the front desk ignored me as I stood in front of her for a bit. I said "Hello" once or twice and she continued to ignore me, favoring her computer. Finally, she looked up and I explained my situation. She spoke over me and said, "So you're looking to pick up [Jane Doe]? Okay." And she picked up her phone and dialed someone as I continued my sentence, completely speaking over me. She was nodding at me and acknowledged me and then proceeded to walk away as she spoke on the phone, leaving me to stand there awkwardly. After a few minutes, she hung up the phone and said, "Someone will be with you shortly." I was extremely frustrated and felt disrespected by the lack of attention and customer service I received. I had to follow her to another area to try and get some information about my family member, but she continued to dismiss me and brush me off. It was extremely frustrating and I was left feeling helpless and unheard. I would not recommend this place to anyone based on the poor customer service and disrespectful treatment I received. The lack of empathy and concern for my situation was unacceptable and I will do my best to not be returning in the future. read more

Highly unprofessional and irresponsible staff. My initial interaction with staff was perfectly normal and what you would expect from a medical center. I had dropped a family member off at this location and informed them I would be back to pick them up in approximately 2-3 hours once their surgery had concluded. While I was on my way back to the center, I had received a call requesting me to enter the center upon my arrival to review discharge paperwork. I arrived and called the front office to confirm that they were ready to discharge my family member. I also informed them I was feeling ill and did not feel comfortable waiting in the waiting room. I was told that was fine and that my family member would be discharged soon. I checked in inside of the center and returned to my vehicle to wait. I waited approximately 50 minutes in the 90 degree weather before re-entering the center as no one had called me. When I spoke to the front office staff, they asked what the patients name was and consistently searched for the wrong patient multiple times before stating they did not have anyone by that name. Eventually another employee came out to address the issue and was able to locate my family member. I was finally escorted to the discharge area; however, I did not feel comfortable going any further into the center as I was sick. I had explained this multiple times and for whatever reason this was not conveyed to back office staff. I informed the discharge nurse that I did not want to expose any staff or patients to my illness and wished to review paperwork outside in the pickup lane. She agreed to having the nurse meet me outside and we were finally able to review the paperwork. Although the paperwork was routine, I did not appreciate the simplified explanation of post-surgical care instructions. I had asked if my family member was going to receive any medications to help with pain after the operation and was told no which was in fact untrue. I was also very alarmed by the nurse stopping throughout the paperwork review to comment on my jewelry and noticed she was looking into the backseat of my vehicle. I was not aware that my car was subject to inspection at pickup. Overall, this place seems very disorganized and I would be concerned for my health if I had to have any procedure done here. read more

Very kind and friendly staff! The scheduling process was super easy and someone always picks up the phone anytime we called to answer questions. The surgery center is tucked behind a few larger buildings with it's own parking which makes it's super private and easily accessible. The facility is very clean and they had HGTV on which was a plus! Lol I'm sure to many of us the anticipation of surgery is very daunting, but the nurses at Sahara Surgery Center made the experience very pleasant for my husband. He felt at ease throughout the entire surgery prep and said that the nurses and doctors were very light hearted and cracking jokes before surgery which helped him to relax and laugh a bit before being put under. The recovery at the surgery center was very easy and my husband was well taken care of. The nurses and the doctor called me as soon as they finished to let me know how it went and how long it was until he woke up all the way. Another nurse came and got me shortly after so that I could see him and when I walked in they had snacks for him and water to help with any nausea. They read us all of his aftercare instructions and even called the next day to see how he was feeling! Yesterday, I went to have injections to alleviate horrific lower back pain. Every person working at the Sahara Surgical Center is a perfect fit, and could provide customer service instruction to many other businesses. I appreciated the coordinated effort of the staff, nurses and doctors to welcome me, keep me relaxed, and to expedite my readiness for the procedure; I was in and out. I appreciated the brief introduction to the anesthesiologist who was friendly...(Suggest a couple minutes of undivided attention for patients to ask and have questions answered with the anesthesiologist). Almost immediately my physician, Dr. Dzung came in, was all business but relaxed, (greeted me by my first name) and at that minute, "all was well with the world!" This place is a complete s-show. They always get billing wrong yet demand a payment upfront. Sure they'll mail you a check later when they realize they overcharged. If you get a bill and try to pay it good luck. You have to call and the person, one and only person, who can take a payment is never there. Their staff sucks and has an attitude. I'm got a bill over six months after service and was told I was being sent to collections right away if it's not paid. They called me while I was driving and could not get them card info. I called back and no answer. Tried to pay over the phone no luck. They don't even have a website where you can pay. My doctor has some ownership in this facility which is why I have to be sent here but they are the worst. read more

I had a mass excision on my finger done here and the entire process was stress free, streamlined, and as positive as having surgery can be. I filled out all the paperwork online prior to my appointment. The center kept in contact with me via phone calls and texts. My appointment was at 7:30am, I was instructed to be there at 6:30am and I was wheeled out to the leave by 9:00am. Every person I came in contact with was professional, patient, and caring. I felt that each staff member made sure to be precise and thorough with their role in my surgery. I never felt rushed. I felt as though I was important and my comfort was something they were constantly aware of. A staff member called the next day to check up on my and ask about my experience. Surgery is never an easy thing to go through, but here at Sahara Surgery Center it was about as easy as I could have hoped for. read more

How do I split this in half? The OR team and Dr.Becker were awesome! However, the Blonde haired older Nurse was rushing me out after surgery. She said she had to dress me. She was in a rush and put my jeans on crooked. I was still waking up. She asked me if I wanted a drink. Gave me a Ginger ale that I requested, but she was still in a hurry to get rid of me. The doctor was so unorganized and miss manage his time to the point she went into surgery at 10 PM. Which is a violation of health law. She has gone 36 hours without food on top of that sitting in a waiting room for 10 hours is unsatisfactory. The doctor should have just rescheduled her surgery. She was nervous and scared going into her first surgery. Especially not being from this country and not knowing what to expect. Dr. LaRoache needs to learn how to manage his time and be more considerate of people's time and well-being. I understand it's not the surgery centers fault. However, not having an active after hours phone line does not help. read more

I recently had my son's surgery there to get his cavities filled by Dr. Bui. The staff at Sahara Surgery Center was wonderful, all of the nurses and the anesthesiologist...everyone. We did have to wait in the waiting room for a little while, but no where near as long as we had to wait when my son had a surgery done at a hospital. I've had two different surgical procedures done here, 6 months apart, different staff for each one, and everyone/everything was GREAT! For my 1st procedure, since I never had surgery before or experienced being put under general anesthesia, I was so nervous and scared. They really did their best to try to make me feel as comfortable as can be. The ladies in the recovery room were the best, they were so sweet and caring. I like how before I was taken into the op room, most of the staff was introduced to me, especially the anesthesiologist. Nice to know who was going to be keeping me alive while being under. The staff at Sahara Surgery Center work like a well-oiled gear. Very professional, knowledgeable and efficient. They took exceptional care of me during my foot surgery. The admitting nurse was very welcoming and organized. Nurse Jonalynn was calm and friendly and also very efficient during pre-surgery prep. Nurse Sonya K. took care of every need without me having to ask. Both nurses were professional and simply lovely individuals. My five year old needed dental surgery and was scheduled here. All the nurses and doctors were excellent. This place did a great job catering to pediatric surgery. The recovery area for kids is Sesame Street themed and nicely decorated for kids. Better than any of the children's hospitals in town. The registration girl in the front was a little snooty, but all the clinical staff was so caring and patient. I cannot say how grateful I am to all of them! read more

I just had my carpal tunnel release and trigger finger release surgery here by Dr. Conrad Yu. I must say, I am IMPRESSED by this place. NOTE: Make sure before you come to your appointment that you pre-register online, it makes things go a lot faster when you get there. My appt was scheduled for 8:15, you have to be at your appointment 1 hr before. Once I was there, I signed in, not even 10 mins passed and I was called to sign 5 papers and pay my co-pay. I waited another 5 mins and I was called back to get ready for surgery. The staff is so friendly and very informative. They did everything to make this surgery as less nerve racking for me. I have a backround of anxiety and everyone there is very calm and welcoming, even Dr. Yu. He's such an awesome doctor. Anyway, while I was being wheeled into the operating room with fear of the unknown, I came into the room with the doctors, nurses and anastesologist chatting and laughing which actually made me feel better for some reason. We spoke shorty and they explained a couple of things to me, next thing you know, I was already a sleep. Surgery went so smooth. I woke up with a big buldge of wrapping around my left hand and wrist and felt out of it from the drugs. This was my first surgery ever and I have yet to come back here in a few weeks again for my right hand. Since this is my first experience with surgery, this place set the bar high for me. I can only hope that future surgeries go as smooth as my experience here. Atleast I know what to expect from the staff when I come back, they are so great! I would recommend this place to anyone. I've been here twice for my pain management procedures and both times have been very pleasant. The front desk ladies are surprisingly very nice and helpful too which is a shocker because most people that work front desks aren't the most pleasant. The nurses here are so sweet, talkative and funny in the waiting room before which is needed when you're about to have 5-6 inch needles in your spine. My last visit there was so good, the nurse was the sweetest thing I don't remember her name but she was an older blonde lady. She made sure I was the most comfortable.
