I had given this place 5 starts but I take it back! I have been buying dirty boba from them every couple weeks Or so and haven't had an issue until today! It doesn't matter if it's a one off, it's terrible!!! I called in my order, a pork ban mi sandwich and a dirty boba with extra brown sugar. I get there and the guy in there looks at me walks away, grabs some food and puts it on the table and starts walking away again and I told him I think that's mine and told him my name and what I ordered. He rang me up and I noticed my dirty boba was less brown than normal. No biggie, I assumed they forgot to add extra brown sugar. I paid and drive away. Half way back to work I insert my straw and take a sip. The sup has a few boba petals so I chew and comped on something hard and I got it out. It was a plastic piece like from a broken fork. I took everything out of my mouth and there were more plastic shards of plastic. I called the restaurant and the guy asked my name and repeated what I said but clearly he didn't understand. I asked for a manager. He said "no manager today" and hung up on me. I called back and asked why he hung up and he kept saying yes and then remained silent!!! What is this?!?!?! Terrible service. I usually just order their banh mi, bun bo hue (spicy beef noodle) and papaya salad. Their bun bo hue was pretty authentic and served in big portion. They used the right type of noodles, which is the thick one. The banh mi was just ok, not too excellent and a bit more Americanized to my taste. Papaya salad was served with a lot of toppings and you should leave it soak in the sauce for a bit before eating since it'll taste way better. read more

Saigon Bistro is located in the Park N Shop closer to the old Fry's location. We wanted Vietnamese for dinner and ordered via Uber Eats. It has been over 4 years since we last had their food. I just remember the sandwiches being larger filled with more meat than pickled veggies. I do enjoy the pickled daikon and carrots but can you give me a little more meat? I'm assuming ownership has exchanged hands. The Grilled Pork w/Egg Roll Vermicelli tasted the same as I remember. I especially love the egg roll. That dish needs the egg roll for texture and crunch. I stopped by here cuz I had a pho craving today and I'm so happy I've found a good pho spot in the East Bay!!! Their prices are unbeatable- you get super high value for your money. My pho was loaded with meat and piping hot, just the way I love it. They gave me a ton of bean sprouts when I requested- not like Pho Huynh Hiep 6 Kevin's Noodle House who charged me $2 extra for 10 extra bean sprouts. This place beats Kevin's Noodle House by far, not even close. They even put mint in the spring rolls, a must need ingredient so many places in the East Bay leave out. It is not as crowded as Kevin's noodle house and we wanted to give it a try as we purchased their Banh Mih sandwiches a while back and they were pretty authentic and good. We came here and sat down at a booth with a TV right on top of us. I got a mid bowl of Pho to share with my son, a spring roll appetizer to share and my hubby got their Vietnamese omelet. The srping roll was good and they gave us decent numbers of shrimp. Their peanut dipping sauce is also very rich, which I love. The pho with raw beef is very satisfying and we got a lot of rice vermicelli so it was perfect for an adult and a small child. My husband's omelet was a huge surprise because it is humongous! It comes with a lot of raw bean sprouts, basil, and sliced tomatoes to go with the light fluffy egg. He seemed to enjoy it very much as well. 10/10 Dittos! TLDR; One of the best bahn mi's I've ever had! My friend recommended me the banh mi's from here and it did not disappoint! I decided to go with what the cashier said was the best seller for their banh mi, grilled pork. Service was extremely friendly and the banh mi was served really quickly! I was going to eat it in my car and it was perfectly packed to-go! Included little packets of sriracha and hoisin, as well as napkins which I appreciate. Overall was extremely delicious and was generously stuffed! I was only able to finish half and am excited to have the rest later for dinner. For only $6.50 this is amazing and extremely flavorful to satisfy your hunger on the go! Happy Saturday! What happened to the warm weather we experienced just a few days ago? I got up this morning, and it was wet and cold. A perfect day for Pho! I decided to head over to Saigon Bistro in Park n' Shop. Saigon Bistro has been in Park n' Shop for at least 15 years. It had fallen off my radar years ago, and I recently rediscovered them when I had extreme cravings for mango smoothies. I would pop over there and get two for myself! Their egg rolls are flavorful and larger than others I've had. Today, I ordered a medium Pho Tai Bo Vien #34, egg rolls #11, and a mango smoothie. The food was delicious. The pho broth was very flavorful, and the beef was very tender. The egg rolls were yummy, and my mango smoothie was delish! I hear the avocado smoothie is great too. They also have banh mi sandwiches that are very tasty. Saigon Bistro is smaller than other local Vietnamese restaurants, but they maximize what they have. They recently moved the furniture around, and it looks great inside; they even have booths! As I was mixing my condiments, I noticed how clean everything was, including the various sauces and utensils (no sticky utensils). When I think of pho restaurants, I don't think of amazing service. Ok I came back for the first time in 5 years and it has changed owners. I had the bun rieu and it reminded me of the original one they used to have here before the food went south! Best bahn mi's! Saigon Bistro is hands down my favorite place & go-to to get bahn mi's. My favorite is the bbq pork. Their spring rolls are also great and it comes with both bbq pork & shrimp as a base. The prices for the sandwich itself are comparable to other spots. It's a bit of a bit or miss on bbq pork & pickled veggie ratio, but I've been completely satisfied more times than not. I'm here in the Northeast Bay, at Saigon Bistro today. This is a fresh Veggie Spring Roll, Garden Roll, or Summer Roll with Tofu, Fried Calamari, and Veggie Bánh Xèo. I don't know what I like more, Gỏi Cuốn or Chả Giò. It wouldn't be Gỏi Cuốn, without Peanut Sauce. And Chả Giò is more for, Bún Bò Nướng or Beef Vermicelli noodles. I see some people out there try to bring their own rice paper to Korean BBQ or a Bánh Xèo spot, and I be like what the heck some people out there doing? I'm a purest. I don't do that over here. Lettuce always been exclusively for Bánh Xèo. And my favorite rice paper brand is, the premier Rose brand. Also there's nothing like a homemade Bánh Xèo, a restaurant can't exactly recreate some dishes that are meant to be home cooking. Like Fried Chicken, the debate over what to fry a Bánh Xèo been going on for ages. Skillet, Cast Iron, or Wok? The batter the Calamari was dredge in reminds me of Popcorn Chicken. It's not like the Calamari I'm used to from the Old Fishermen's Grotto, but it is what it is. The Bánh Xèo was descent, it's slightly thicker than what I'm used to, but it's crunchy and very Coconutty and still good. This is my go to place, in Concord/Walnut Creek area, for Vietnamese food. Let's start out with the things that can be improved upon: This isn't the place where you should go to when you're in a hurry. The staff tends to be a little more leisurely and you will get frustrated trying to flag them down. With that being said, they are still very friendly. I think the more take-your-time pace of the service goes with the modern environment they portray. This isn't the place where you should get your milk tea (if you're a milk tea snob). Within the last half year, they introduced a milk tea menu that is comparable to Quickly. In fact, the color scheme almost made me think that they had partnered with Quickly. However, you will notice the cabinet shelf full of powdered flavors (i.e. Honeydew, Strawberry, etc.) that I believe they mix with tea to make their milk teas. I'd pass, unless you were just trying to fulfill a craving. Let's go with the reasons why I return to this place: This place has more variety of noodle soups. In addition to the beef, chicken, and seafood noodle soups, Saigon also has Bun Bo Hue, Curry Chicken Noodle Soup, Tomato Noodle Soup, Wonton BBQ Pork Noodle Soup, and Vegetarian Noodle Soup. They're usually the thing I go for, since they're a little bit more complex in soup base. This place has very fresh, made-to-order Banh Mi. I've tried the grilled pork and grilled chicken banh mi. $5.95 a sandwich, which is a bit more expensive than the Chinatown ones, but it's tasty, filling, and protects the restaurant from people who, albeit fine, sit around the entire day with their laptops. This place has great combination broken rice plate options. You can get purple rice substituted. You get an eggroll. I like variety with my broken rice plates and this place delivers on that. I think the overall issue, that I see by the reviews, is the service. And I agree that sometimes I get impatient waiting for the food here. But I come here, time and again, because of what Saigon Bistro has to offer. read more

I usually don't leave a review because times are hard and leaving negative reviews impacts small businesses. This time around, i need to get my word out, hoping management sees this and train accordingly. This is ridiculous!!! Ive been coming here at least once a week on my lunch break. The food is good for the area, better than Kevin's. The service however is very lack luster, the server (young girl) ignores you even you made eye contact with her whether it's asking for the bill or more sauce. She acts like she doesn't like working there. I dont care if her parents owns the place or whatever the reason is that shes there, service is a must. Dining at an asian place is bound to be treated like crap but being ignored and treated like im nobody, that just crosses the line. Funny thing is, every single time I'm there, she goes into her tantrum. I haven't said anything to provoke her. The other servers, a younger gentleman and an older uncle answers right away, an action every person in a restaurant should automatically possess. After a long road trip from Newport, OR which took ten hours drive, we ended our trip here in Concord, CA where my brother lives. After eating mainly junk foods and luckily some goodies from Costco food court whenever we needed to fill up gas, everyone wanted a hot meal from a place that served food fast. My brother recommended this place which is located in a shopping center in the corner of Willow Pass, just a stone's throw away from my brother's house. We were promptly greeted and seated. We ordered several items but was able to take only pics of the pho and bowl of vermicelli because everyone were just too hungry to be bothered by "pic first before touching it". Anyhow, everything was delicious. The vegetables used were all fresh. The pho broth was very tasty but had fewer slices of meat compared to other places I'd been to. Lucky for the red sauce they give with it, which is a blend of spicy and sweet sauce that made the wontons more tolerable. We ordered the pho noodles soup, spring rolls, and a banh mi BBQ that is. the broth and spring roll was mediocre.... taste the same just wherever you go and get this from. However, their bahn mi was DELISH!!!! Thank god I listened to the reviews and ordered one. They do not dissapoint! They are so tasty with all the right ingredients included in this sandwhich! The meat was very savory, the veggies with the jalepeno was great, and the light mayo on top.... PERFECTION! Extra star for the delicious bahn mi! The bahn mi is a bit small but it has meat, carrots, radish, cilantro and jalapenos. The bread is a bit harder roll but soft inside. They have a huge drink menu of which I haven't tried yet.
