Parking at the Mountain View Shopping Center is plentiful. I went there for a take home Banh Mi on an early Tuesday evening. I was the only customer there and I ordered the 6. Saigon's Signature from the menu board at the pay counter. Which was ready quickly. The interior has a few tables and a long bench and table for dining. It's new, modern and clean. The menu is mostly Banh Mi sandwiches and sweet drinks. My sandwich was well constructed with bread with a crunchy crust and soft inside, generous amounts of protein, fresh pickles and crunchy cucumber slices. There was nothing memorable about the flavor profile, probably to make it suitable for the American sub sandwich palate. My smaller size was very filling and I saved half for later. I am not a fan of sandwiches in general but their Banh Mi is good so give them a try. May repeat. read more

First thing you see when you walk in is their cute mural and photo back drop! You can either order at the front or on the kiosk. Service was quick and my snacks/drinks came out in less than 7 min. I ordered the patechaud, the coconut cloud coffee, and the white Vietnamese coffee. You can customize the sweetness, ice level, and type of milk in your drink. I usually like my coffees more creamy and sweet so that's what I asked for. Their drinks were good but I wish the coconut cloud had more of a coconut taste to it. It was very subtle. This is a pretty good place for Vietnamese sandwiches if you're not able to get to East San Jose. It's a bit pricey, but a decently sized sandwich. Their grilled pork was pretty good, and I also liked their beef, except that it wasn't what I expected at all. The beef had some sort of an orange, beef stew-like sauce?? so it was more of a wet sandwich than I expected. My main critique is that there aren't enough pickled vegetables. I needed more of that sour pickled taste because in my opinion that's what makes a good Vietnamese sandwich. Instead, there was a ton of cilantro. Saigon Breadfast seriously surprised me. This is easily one of the best banh mi spots in the Bay Area and honestly I'd put it above a lot of places in SoCal too. My wife is from Vietnam and she approved, which says everything. The bread is the star. Fresh baked, pillowy soft on the inside with a light crunch on the outside. It does not shred your mouth like some places do. It's actually very close to what you get in Vietnam, which is rare out here. The pork is fragrant and clean tasting, not gamy at all. You can tell they care about quality. The overall sandwich just hits right. Only a couple things to improve. The pate was a bit runny and the grilled pork didn't really taste grilled, more like it was cooked on a flat top. Fix that and this place is top tier across the board. The reviews of Saigon Breadfast caught my attention, so had to give them a try since I was in the area. Arrived at around 10:30am and was greeted upon entering. Decided to go with the Saigon's Signature. There's the regular and then there's the large. For $3 more I went with the large - figured I could share the other half with the hubs. Then realized they had a large sandwich and choice of drink combo special - save a couple of $$$ by going with the combo. After asking for recommendations, went with the Egg Foam coffee. The coffee was a bit more bitter than I was expecting - probably wouldn't order that again. As for the sandwich, it was BIG. The bread was light and easy to bite through. I think I was expecting more flavor with all the ingredients added to the sandwich. More like 3.5 starts; although, when in the area, I'd go again and try a different item. read more

I dropped by for lunch around 1:45, and it wasn't too busy. I got the meal deal with #7 Vegetarian Sandwich and a Strawberry Lychee drink. I asked the person at the front to confirm that there aren't any non-vegan ingredients in the sandwich. The menu shows tofu, cilantro, vinegar carrot, vinegar radish, cucumber, jalapeños, and soy bean sauce, so it doesn't seem non-vegan, but I wanted to be sure. She seemed confused about what vegan means, so I explained that we don't consume dairy, eggs, or any other animal products, and she confirmed it would be fine. So, I ordered it without cilantro. The sandwich was pretty big for a size small. The bread was crusty and it had a lot of tofu and carrots. The tofu was very wet, like there was a puddle of liquid that dripped from the sandwich. I wish it had been more veggie-focused, like I was craving more cucumber, radish, and maybe even mushrooms. The drink was good, it had two pieces of lychee fruit, which I loved. I ordered 25% sweetness, but it was sweeter than expected. I would order it again but ask for 0% sweetness if possible. The banh mi is good for the peninsula but not as good as the stops in San Jose. We tried both the Saigon special which is the cold cut and the grilled pork and the Vietnamese coffee. The cold cut was good, fresh, and the meats had a stronger essence of five spice probably more than I'm used to. Good but different. The grilled pork was missing the char essence that you get from the San jose shops. It was okay. The pickled veggies could use more tang, but the bread was perfect. It was soft but crunchy and not too bready or heavy! The coffee was pricy at $7ish but strong! You can order from the kiosk and wait. Plenty of seating and clean inside. Im supper glad that finally a legit banh mi spot is open in the area. Ambiance is nice and clean with lots of tables, cute decor. Staff is friendly and welcoming. The banh mi and all drinks are so bombbbb. The combo deal is such a steal because banh mi are loaded and drinks are even better than some branded boba shops. PSA: the #8 is "SEASONING" pork belly aka the reddish saigon jambon in the banh mi, not "ROASTED" or heo quay. Keep that in mind when you order. It was still very good but i couldnt finish the whole banh mi with just that jambon. It's better paired with head cheese and chả. Highly recommend the #6. A decent banh mi place and great addition to the peninsula. I used to live in Milpitas and definitely miss the proximity to fresh, authentic, cheap banh mi. I came here on a weekend with a few friends after a hike. We were able to take advantage of their buy 4 get 1 free deal, so large sandwiches came out to about $10 each. We ended up all ordering the combination. It took some time for the sandwiches to be ready (~20 minutes). The sandwiches are packaged nicely with the regular paper wrapping plus an extra paper bag on the outside, so they should travel well without making a mess. However we were eating there, and they have a decent number of tables available inside and right outside the storefront. Flavor-wise, the sandwich was okay. The portion of meat is generous, but I wish there were more veggies (cilantro, cucumber, jalapenos), and the pickled veggies had some more sweetness. The meat was also a bit too cold, like it had come out of the fridge recently, which kind of threw off the sandwich. The pate could also be a bit richer or more umami. Bread was quite tasty and fresh. Overall it was fair in terms of flavor, but the portion made up for it. However, we're in Mountain View and I am hoping they do well. Their #8 sandwich was both filling and good tasting. Mind you, I did order the large version. So happy that they finally opened! Saw this relatively new place on our way to groceries and decided to give it a try! They specialized in Vietnames coffees, banh mihs and pate chauds. They had lots of sweet coffee options but we decided to only focus on food today. We got their large special banh mih and a pate chaud. Even though we got it to go, we decided to sit down as they had a small area for eating in. The pate chaud was nicely packed and was warm when they brought it out. It wasn't greasy and tasted fresh and appetizing. Their banh mih was our favourite - it came out warm and the bread tasted fresh. The butter they used, along with the hams and meats, were a great pairing. My boyfriend even said it was the first banh mih he actually liked in the Bay Area! The banh mi was underwhelming to me. The pork was nice, but the rest was bland. There was no tangy, pickled flavor to the veggies and I couldn't taste the pate. The coffee was good, though I didn't get much salt flavor and it wasn't very sweet. I was on a banh mi kick today and saw that this place had recently opened up. The bread is soooo good. Perfectly crispy on the outside but not too hard, and soft and pillowy on the inside. We ordered the Saigon special and beef banh mi. Both the fillings were tasty. I'm not sure if the pate and mayonnaise are made in house, but it was tasty and complimented the cold cuts well in the Saigon special. It is good that we have a new solid option for banh mi. 4.0/5: The egg foam coffee is good: the egg foam part is excellent. But the actual coffee is not dark/strong enoungh. So excited to have a new banh mi spot to take my lunch breaks in Mountain View! At the time of writing this, they had been open for a few days. The interior is super cute and cozy with lots of natural touches. I love the little moped and bread display corner, it gives me the feeling of grabbing a morning baguette at a market in Vietnam! I can definitely see myself catching up with friends here or enjoying a coffee while getting some work done. The staff are pleasant and patient, and my order came out in less than 10 minutes. I got a small Saigon's Signature, which was actually much larger than I was expecting, and it really satisfied the banh mi craving. The bread is crispy and thin, softened by yummy layers of pate and butter (more on the american mayo side than viet mayo) and generous portions of pork roll, ham, and steamed pork belly. The daikon tasted a little more pickled than what I'm used to but I really enjoyed it! Also tried the Egg Foam coffee and she was STRONG. Slightly more on the bitter side but I'm sure that's easily adjustable if you want it more sweet. I've never had egg foam before and I'm glad I tried it here because it was delicious, very creamy and perfectly sweet. Overall, I really enjoyed Saigon Breadfast and even happier about the fact that I won't (always) need to drive all the way to San Jose for good banh mi anymore. Rounding up, as they are a new business and I've only tried their banh mi once. My partner and I split a BBQ pork banh mi and the classic Vietnamese cold cut sandwich with pate. Of the two, the pork was our favorite. Good bread (and bread can be purchased separately to make your own sandwiches!) and appropriate ratios of meat to pickled veggies. The fillings themselves were not as good as other banh mi places I've tried, though. Located in a strip mall with plenty of parking. Casual, clean atmosphere. And the bread exterior provides a nice crunch without tearing up the roof your mouth. Got the special and seasoned pork belly and both were great. Went here for early lunch and there was zero wait. You can order from tablet but for combo orders, place your order with the cashier. The menu has lots of different varieties of banh mi and I like that they have matcha drinks in addition to Vietnamese coffees. I order the Saigon special which is their version of cold cuts with the usual pate, cucumber, cilantro, pickled veggies. I asked for no jalapeno and also got a matcha mango drink. They have alternate milk options (almond, oat)! Overall I loved the food here. The bread tastes very fresh with a perfect crust and soft fluffy interior. They give you a generous amount of meat and veggie toppings. I looked that they slice their cucumbers super thin. I've been to places where they put quartered cucumbers and it's just too much. I could tell a lot of people took the food to go. They seem to make the bread themselves (they also sell their bread). We ordered Salted Coffee and the Saigon Signature. Coffee: The salted coffee was AMAZING. The cream is sooo good and the sugar level was just right. Sandwich: Honestly this is why I couldn't give this place 5*. Ordered DoorDash to the office. I got the large grilled pork sandwich and drink combo with the veges on the side. The bread wasn't crunchy at all and quite soft for a baguette. This sandwich didn't have any pate or butter which is supposed to be normal for all banh mi but I guess they only put it in the combo sandwich. Without the pate and butter it really lacked that umami kick. As a viet guy I'm kind of disappointed. I wasn't expecting a Duc Huong sandwich but dang. It could be a little milkier but def sweet as expected. - second item we tried was the grilled pork banh mi. At first bite, we immediately thought the bread was soft inside and the right amount of crunch outside! The baguette itself beats some spots in SJ for me. Now my partner and I felt like the grilled pork was seasoned very differently than what we had in other shops. It was unique, almost like the same flavor as Bo Kho? (vietnamese beef stew). The pork left behind an orange oily sauce inside the bread in which that DID not taste like pate, so we didn't think it was that. The flavor threw us off a bit, it wasn't bad nor was it our favorite. The large is actly quite large and the price is reasonable for Mountain view. Large selection of drinks, vietnamese coffee was good. But the banh mi needs inprovement. We got the saigon special and the meatball sandwich. In general it seems like the ingredients of the sandwich arent portioned right. There are pickled vegetables in the sandwich but i felt like i wasnt getting enough pickled vegetable flavor in one bite. Pate was also very mild. Def didnt taste the vietnamese mayo if it was in there at all. I think the meatball sandwich should be taken off the menu completely. Ive had a meatball variation at other banh mi stores but this one tasted the most plain. At least mix in some maggi sauce. It was also very soggy.
