I planned to gave a 2star but decided to go for one, the guy who took my money faster than checking if my food was okay Pho is horrible, broth is dense with MSG which make aftertaste so disgusting, the beef was not prepared correctly, smell like raw organin my bowl. I left my bowl full because I could not eat it but they did not ask if my pho is okay. Goi cuon nem nuong is okay, good flavor but the roll is in ridiculous shape. I dine here a lot since it's near home and my fiance loves pho. I've tried several of their vietnamese dishes and it's definitely a hit or miss in my opinion so I tend to order off the thai food portion of the menu. The food is reasonably priced and the portions are huge! I always end up having leftovers for lunch the following day. One of my favorite dishes is the beef with eggplant and tofu dish. It's a tad on the salty side so I always end up adding extra basil and sometimes bean sprouts to the dish. The beef chow fun is also tasty but the last time I ordered it the noodles were a little overcooked so they were on the mushy side. Mushy noodles=Ew. They also serve bubble tea here. The teas are decent but the tapioca balls are on the bland side. If you want good bubble tea, Snow Mountain is where it's at. read more

I'm between 2 and 3 stars on this place. I'm giving it 3 because it is the only Vietnamese restaurant in this area and I give them props for that. That being said I have eaten at other Cafe Saigon locations and felt the food was better elsewhere. I think Vietnamese food is going to be the next Asian food on the list of what white people like and Saigon Cafe is heading up the charge with outposts in most of the city's suburbs. Too bad people don't realize how much better it could be if they head to more authentic sources like Nam Phuong. Anyhoo, it fills a niche so you can't hate them for that. The service was ok. One of the servers did get my simple order wrong. I also find it funny that the servers don't actually know the menu, only the numbers for dishes. I asked for chicken and shrimp bun and he gave me a confused glance, then asked for the number. I had to check back on the menu to find it. Come on bud. No worries though; my bun came out 5 minutes after my companions meal so I wasn't bothered. We ordered tom kha gai soup (not a Vietnamese dish) as a starter and it was not the best. The coconut milk had separated, as you can see from the picture, and the broth was lacking in flavor. My mom even commented that it wasn't the best version she had had and that says a lot. The bun was ok. The chicken is quite fatty, but I'm used to that since I've had this same exact dish from Saigon Basil (another restaurant in the chain). All in all it was an ok dining experience thanks to the company. I know they just recently opened so I hope this location can improve upon the food. Don't dumb the flavors down so much. A year ago i came here just to try some boba as i try at every Saigon Cafe or any LoliCup outlet. The service was busy and everyone seemed unwilling to help, when i asked what the most popular flavor was the older lady said she didn't know and kind of shoo'd me off. that was a year ago and I forgive them for the one incident. I am glad to say that now I'm a regular at this place. It gives me an almost Blade Runner Harrison Ford feeling to talk in here and eat my nice warm bowl of noodles on a cold day or on a hard at work day where i just want nothing else than to disappear into the warm smell of chicken soup broth and not be disturbed until I'm slurping up the final remains of Sriracha and water. The place now knows me by appearance and immediately gets that chicken soup ready before i even sit down. I've only had one meal here but it surpasses any other Saigon Cafe or asian restaurants chicken soup in. Great price and fast service to get your lunch right away. read more

I've got mixed feelings about Saigon Cafe. I've visited here twice and both times the food was good, but if you come and order anytime before or by lunch, you may have to wait for your order. In my case, I met friends here, ordered food to eat there, and didn't find out until 10 minutes later that they had made a to go order and just had the food sitting. I haven't ordered their pho, but their prices seem to be a bit higher than other locations. As I mentioned earlier about the lunch rush, they don't seem to be be able to handle the rush, and often there is a line right to the exit door, which crowds the walkway to the exit. Parking is pretty decent since they're in a publix shopping center, and the food IS tasty. Just stay away during noon and you'll have a much better experience read more

My coworker bought stir fry meal to go and she was shocked cuz she saw cockroach on her meal. She showed me and the rest of coworkers, vowed to not go back there. I work at one of the local business offices in the area. We frequent many of the restaurants in the area and most of them recognize us when we visit. Saigon Cafe completely dropped the ball during my last visit. While eating at this location with some of my colleagues, I ordered my usual Viet Spring Rolls and Seafood Pho. Two things that I usually come in for religiously during my weekly lunch rotations. This particular time I ordered my usual and upon receiving the "Sprouts Plate" that goes with my Pho I noticed something appalling... A cockroach came out from underneath my sprouts. Insects at Asian restaurants never seem to bother the wait staff. I dont know if it's NORMAL or if they just don't understand why it's such a big deal. However, to your average American customer, a cockroach gives reason for alarm. The waiter immediately offered to remake my meal. Which due to timing and my colleagues meals already arriving seemed like the most sensible option. I reluctantly continued to eat in hopes of some later recompense at the end. The meal came to end and our checks we're all dropped off on the table. This restaurant expected me to pay full price when I found a cockroach in my food. I could have easily made a scene and upset all the other guest. I could have been way more aggressive with the consequences for this transgression. However, I simply took my check to the front desk and alerted what I'm assuming was the manager that I refused to pay full price after my dining experience. 20% was the discount offered for a roach. Needless to say I will never eat here again and neither will any of my colleagues. Keep it classy Saigon. read more

Closest Pho restaurant to my home and we wanted Pho so we came here. Usually there's the same waitress there but she was not there today. Lot of new faces which makes me wonder if they have a new management or not. Anyhow, back to my review. We ordered Seafood Pho (only comes in Medium or Large), Combination Pho, and the third dish which I forgot the name. It was supposed to be vermicelli with marinated pork, grilled shrimps, and 1 piece of fried egg roll. However, I wanted rice instead of vermicelli and the server lady substituted it for me without hesitation. I also asked for fried rice instead of the white rice. Pho tasted flavorful but seafood Pho felt like it lacked seafood compared to before. My fried rice smelled very oily. I think it's because they stir fried the rice when the oil was still cold, which will result in the oily smell. I told the server lady and again without hesitation, she changed it back to white rice for me. I like that about a server. Usually, I've seen servers who will give excuses or make it into where it's my fault but this lady just took it without giving me the attitude. This is why I'm giving this restaurant a 4 stars whether than 3 stars. read more

Definitely my favorite go-to place for my lunch breaks! I love the variety of asian food they offer at this location, so far Ive tried the pho, satay chicken, and general tso and have been 100% satisfied which each choice! Not to the mention the service is top notch here, they really make you feel welcomed and taken care of. My favorite thing to order is the Vietnamese iced coffee to go--its an absolute much! I will say to order it plenty in advance because the filter they use to make it takes awhile. Other than that, the food is served super fast and hot! 10/10 coming back for more! read more

This is solid americanized asian food. It seems to cover all countries and styles quite adequately. The real stand-out item for me is their house blend of spicy red garlic sauce. Nothing great about this place. Went for dinner the other night because I was looking for a place that served Pho as well as Thai food. I tried the Rama curry which was average at best. I would totally go back. My friend and co worker took me here for lunch. I was told that I had to try it. I agreed and went for it. The soup was awesome. I just don't remember what I had. I only got a small bowl of it to make sure that I liked it but I want more, now! Service is speedy. If they drop the bill off at your table while your still eating, don't be alarmed. They are not rushing you, but they are. The lunch crowd gets pretty busy and they keep the tables churning. I was warned and thought I would pass it along. I ordered General Tso's as my main entree. Love their Passion fruit Black Boba Tea, hands down, it is the best in town. As for the food, it's edible but it's not authentic. It's too Americanized for my Vietnamese palate. I'm very spoiled when ordering PHO because I get a boat full of fresh herbs and bean sprouts... you don't get that here. It's scanty and wilted. If you can count your bean sprouts, then obviously it's poorly rationed. I paid an extra $3.50 for extra beef and it saids 10 slices on the menu, I plead the fifth. I used to eat at the other Saigon Cafe location on Satellite when I lived in Duluth a few years ago. I was never very impressed with it; I just ate there because it was convenient. When my husband and I moved out to the Lawrenceville-Suwanee area, we decided to try the Cafe Saigon location there. We visited there last Saturday - it was freezing outside and pho sounded really good. We didn't have very high expectations based on our previous experiences at the other location in Duluth. We were pleasantly surprised. The first thing I noticed is that the meat (I always order pho tai, which has rare beef) tasted like it was really high quality. The second thing I noticed was the noodles. They tasted really fresh. The broth itself is not the best I've had. It wasn't offensive; it was just a little on the plain side. However, the beef and noodles were good enough to make up for whatever the broth lacked. Our service was wonderful, but we walked in there at 10:30 am when they first opened. There was no one else in the place yet. I'd definitely go back here, given the convenience factor. But if you're near Buford Highway, I'm sure there are plenty of five-star options to choose from (and I envy you for that). read more

I went to Saigon today with some coworkers for some pho and man, was I disappointed. I don't know if it's because there were very few workers that day or what, but the food was terrible! I understand the wait time because it was lunch hour so people were beginning to come in for lunch but man...I'm so sad. I ordered my usual, P1 medium (but no side of rare steak this time, and my coworkers ordered pho as well. When it came out, we were all disappointed and sad. The noodles were soggy and the broth was watered down. We asked for fish sauce but even that couldn't save the broth. The condiments were showing signs of spoiling: the basil leaves were wilted and the edges were brown; the beansprouts were soggy and turning brown also. Four adults and two kids for lunch last week. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meals and we all came home happy! The server was friendly and interacted with my young kids and made us feel welcome. Dishes ordered ranged from pad Thai, to fried noodles, to shrimp fried rice, to beef and broccoli, to Vietnamese BBQ pork rice. My fiancé ordered the shrimp fried rice, it was SO bland, the only good thing about it was the shrimp were a decent size. The pho had a good flavour but was a little watered down. The beef balls were pretty good though. I also mentioned the Yelp check in offer for a free bubble tea, which I was charged for anyway. Not impressed and after a relatively disappointing experience already I could not be bothered correcting the waitress for my $3. This location of Saigon Cafe is average, but convenient hence my visitation occasionally. The staff are always nice and courteous, but the food can't match their manner. The broth used in their pho is average at best with little flavor, and the meats are average also. For some reason they don't give you basil w/ your veggies, but cilantro only. Maybe I am spoiled by Pho Bac, What The Pho, and other local places, but basil is a must. I visit this location if I am too lazy to drive my fat ass down to Duluth for What The Pho, but after mediocre visits at this Saigon, I am contemplating not returning knowing that I will have to at some point. Absolutely love, love this place. This used to be my Saturday night indoors, order some excellent Thai and just chill. It's fresh, inexpensive, and you get a lot of food. The leftovers actually used to last me a couple more days. The Larb, Panang and Pad Prik were my favorites. But everything in here just smells fresh from the kitchen. Love it. It's my first review as a new resident in Lawrenceville, and Saigon Cafe came in handy on a lazy Sunday night in the new house. We got takeout, and upon walking in at 8:30 on a Sunday night I was surprised to see that the place was packed from wall to wall! That's a good sign. Many were enjoying huge bowls of yummy looking Pho, something I'll have to try in the future and report back later. We ordered from the Thai side of the menu . The Broccoli Chicken dish was plentiful and tasty with tons of veggies and not too much sauce. The Panang Chicken was good, also with alot of veggies and chicken, but it wasn't the best Panang curry sauce I've had. It was a little brown, not that vibrant pinkish red color, almost like they mixed soy sauce with it. A plus was the extra little containers of hot sauce so that you can control your own heat. It was an extremely small portion (but it was lunch after all) but I still managed to get pretty full.. Maybe it was the water. Fantastic sized portions. We had the spring rolls, which had a tasty sweet and peanutty sauce, though the noodles inside were not that resh. We had a small size Tom Kha coconut soup, which was very rich and a large size. Again, decent tasting, and a large portion size. We purchased pho, I ordered shrimp pho. There were only 4 shrimp pieces in mine, and the broth did not blow me away like some pho bowls usually do. I was slightly disappointed. We then had a green tea boba, which had deliciously fresh tapioca. I loved this drink. I recently ordered from here and I had: pho dac biet, cha gio tom, and passion fruit green tea. Everything was very delicious. They give you enough quality pieces of meat and fresh ingredients for your pho. I took off one star for saltiness. The pho had a nice aroma, definitely smelled the ginger but the overall broth was a bit more salty than flavorful. I saw somebody write their food "lacked flavor" but I think some people confuse salt for flavor. I like pho for its high water content and that is compromised with a high sodium content. The food here is pretty good, but the service is really, really slow. The staff is nice enough but over tasked. It's also disappointing to go to a Thai restaurant ordering Thai tea and being served a store-bought, ready made tea. There good thing is that they have one of the best Masaman Currys in the area.
