We went for lunch and as always everything was delightful! The ambiance here is just beautiful with the purple lights. Of course, I love it because purple is my favorite color! We started with an order of spring rolls and I love the sauce that's served with it but my friend likes the hot mustard which was not served with them like it is usually and he forgot to ask for it. The hot and sour soup was delicious could've been a tad spicier for us. I got the shrimp and scallop with garlic sauce scrumptious . While the food is good, the service is consistently terrible. For starter, no one acknowledges you when you're waiting to be seated. At the most, there are two servers waiting on the entire restaurant. The server forgot to bring my beer and had to get up and chase him to bring it to me. Lavender Asian Bistro was fairly populated on a late Friday night. We loved the decor of the place and they really lean in on the purple lavender elements in the restaurant. It was a nice change of pace from other restaurants I've been to that serve thai/sushi. The food was decent - definitely not up to my personal standards for Thai food. I ordered the tofu pad thai as usual and the actual tofu was really good but perhaps the sauce of the pad thai left more to be desired. Something tasted off and it's a bit difficult to describe. My friend who was with me also got pad thai but shrimp and he agreed with my sentiment to a point where we both went "It's good... but different." He also ordered hot and sour soup as a starter and noted the wonton chips were stale (or getting to the point of being stale). All in all, I don't regret coming here but I left feeling a bit disappointed given that I enjoyed the ambience. My search for the best Thai spot in the Lawrenceville area continues. read more

Yesterday, I was taken there by the ladies in my Impact Church Bible Group for my Birthday. lavender offers a variety of Asia cuisines from various cultures. Our party ordered Chinese dishes (Mongolian and Szechuan Beef, Sw/Sour chicken, fried rice); Japanese (Mango Sushi) and Thai dishes (Penang Curry, Basil fried rice) along with an array of other dishes. ALLLLL. were delicious. Lavender even brought dessert to me to celebrate my birthday. The only reason for the 4 rating is that the decorum is a little dated and could use some revamping. We came for the Chinese food, I do not eat a lot of rice these days but when I do, I want it to be worth the calories and it was, the fried rice was good. I ordered the sweet and sour chicken with fried rice wonton soup. The portions were huge, unfortunately I was not a fan of the sauce served with the chicken it was really sweet and fruity, it gave off a pineapple/ tangerine taste, so I decided to eat the chicken with out the sauce. I travel across the country now with my new job and I still make a point to come back here. Respectful, humble, delicious. Highly recommend their ichiban roll and their tso's chicken. They have an entire (and I mean ENTIRE, like several pages long) inclusive menu for my girlfriend who medically has to eat gluten-free that is also delicious. It took 10 minutes for our server to acknowledge us and take it drink orders. He wasn't the friendliest and most attentive. We finally placed our order and my meal came out with chicken instead of shrimp. The server told me that's what I told him, but he was the one to say chicken. He brought me a new meal. It looked better than the first. The pad see-ew was missing some flavor and some of the shrimp had not been completely deveined. GROSS, chewing and suddenly feeling grit in my teeth. Visited Lavender for Sunday night dinner with my partner. Tons of parking. Nestled in quiet shopping center. We were seated immediately. Service was quick and efficient. They had an extensive bar and drink menu but we stuck to soft drinks. I order wonton soup and broccoli chicken as my main dish. Everything was delicious. As a long time Lavender customer, I love their food. Over the years, the personnel has changed but the food is still tops in my book.

I always order takeout here, and it's usually a lo mein dish and a soup. Each time I place my order, by phone, they are extremely polite and very friendly. Though I've never eaten there, when I pick up my order, usually on the weekends , they are quite busy but the wait staff never seems frenzied and more then happy to assist me. The prices are moderate and I would definitely recommend the lo mein, it's quite good. Though I have a thing for wonton soup I'm hoping to switch up and order the seafood soup soon. Because of mobility issues we get delivery service, but this has always been great in terms of time, menu items and food temperature. They are great folks and also make items with reduced sodium. It cost me $50 before tip for 5 people with two orders of spring rolls. It would be 5 stars if the service was a little bit quicker and the sesame chicken didn't taste like sweet and sour chicken. Well, today was a good day for some hot wonton soup! I came in for lunch, just looking for some good Asian food and was pleasantly surprised to find this place has a full bar! This isn't just an Asian lunch special spot, it's a full restaurant with white linens and servers. The chef was really nice and came out to help me decide what to order. I decided on the Hunan chicken ($7.50) which comes with veggie fried rice and soup or a spring roll. He was nice enough to allow me to sub the wonton soup in place of the egg drop soup. The food came out in less than 10 minutes and was piping hot! The Hunan sauce was sweet & spicy and enough to pour all over my rice. The chicken was really tender along with the broccoli and red peppers. Honestly, it was so good I burned my mouth devouring it before allowing it to cool down first! The soup is a hit at this place, and it was good but I needed a bit more meat inside the wonton. This comes with coconut mushroom soup and those little crunchy fried wontons I believe they're called. Soup was good minus the raw sliced mushrooms. The curry was pretty good.
