I came here wanting to try the shaved ice, despite the bad reviews. I mean I just had to try it myself! I should've listened to the other yelpers. I ordered two small shaved ice. They both came in a small squished cup and it was hard to scoop out. The ice was grossly gooey and it looked and tasted syrupy. The mango and taro didn't taste like the real thing. I was excepting something light and refreshing. I had a few scoops of each and tossed the rest. Do not get the shaved ice. We also got the banh mi. They have a buy 3 get 1 free. Now we usually get our banh mi from Quoc Bao but lately they haven't been the same. We gave this place a try, meh. I ordered the dac biet and they said they ran out (it's 4:30 pm wtheck no bread?!) but it was currently being baked. Then suddenly they said the bread was ready and they made my banh mi. I have bad experience at this place for the very first time here. I waited 1 hour for order while they served almost 10 customers after. This place does not care about customer service and skip line to make more as much money as they can. Very different other famous store where i went. I am so irritated with this place. I bought a ton of food and drinks, including a rau ma. When I took a sip, it did not taste right. I told the lady that it was nasty and asked if she could make me another one. She took my drink, popped the top and proceeded to try it. Then she told me there was nothing wrong with it and that I wasn't used to the taste. It had a salty flavor. I have had this drink all my life, WTF do you mean I'm not used to it?!? Sandwiches here are good however service here is horrendous even by Vietnamese standards, I ordered three sandwiches an hour earlier via phone, I came in and the order was not even started. Banh mi is bomb. The quality is great and you get what you paid for. Place/kitchen is clean and the food is legit. Their menu is extensive but they do it well. They do everything in house and it's super fresh. The quality of the banh mi is great because they always bake new batches everyday. read more

This place is dreadfully slow! I ordered ONE sandwich and it took her 20 minutes to make. Very disorganized and plus if you use your credit card they charge you extra I think it was 15%. Ripoff I say. The sandwich was blah. Nothing memorable. Stick with quoc bao across the street. read more

Banh mi is ok. It needs more pate and butter. Soft tofu with ginger syrup is very good. Sugar cane juice is excellent. EDIT: Bánh mì has been improved so much. Sugar cane juice is still the best around to town. They are best when enjoying at the same time. read more

Based on their snow ice.... It was horrible. It tasted like it was sitting in the freezer for about a year. My sister and I took a few bites and chucked it in the garbage. They were out some flavors and didn't have any fresh fruit. It was just disgusting. Stick to sandwiches! read more

We usually go to Quoc Bao to get sandwiches to take home when we're eating at places in the Garland area since we live far and don't come to the area too often. Got there around 7:30 pm on a Sunday and we were told they were SOLD OUT!?! Ummm...thanks for telling us after we stood in line for several minutes. We saw bread so maybe they ran out of meat and veggies? Reluctantly we retreated to our car. As we drove by Hiep Thai we noticed this place and their sign advertising sandwiches. Figured we were already in the area so why not give them a try. Walked in and found the place empty. It was also super hot inside because of the intense sunlight beaming into the room. No wonder they have posters all over the windows. It was probably their inexpensive way of trying to block out the sun except it wasn't working. It was buy 3 get 1 free so we ordered 4 Banh Mi Thit Nguoi ...couldn't pass up a good deal. Two were for our friends who were with us and two were for us. When we order to-go we always ask for veggies (cilantro, sliced jalapenos, pickled carrots and daikon) on the side so the bread doesn't get too soggy. Our friend likes his bread on the softer side so he wanted veggies included on his sandwich. He tried explaining to the lady taking the order that only three needed veggies on the side but she didn't quite understand so I had to speak to her in Vietnamese. She was polite but seemed even friendlier after I spoke Vietnamese. Didn't take long for them to make the sandwiches and they gave a good amount of veggies in a small plastic bag. Husband took the sandwiches to work for lunch and thought they were fine. We'll give them another try next time and to be fair we'll try to eat on site to get the true taste and texture of the bread. read more

Hidden germ in the heart of Garland. If you are craving for Vietnamese hoggies (Banh mi), you should come to this place. Try the vietnamese meatball (banh mi xiu mai). I was lucky to meet the owner, Bich-Loan, and had a small chat with her. Unlike some other places, her food are made with fresh ingredients. Breads are baked fresh every hrs from freshly dough mixed by her husband. If you are thirsty and/or want to cool down under the heat of Texas, try the fresh sugar cane juice (nuoc mia) or vietnamses halo-halo (che ba mau). Oh yeah, one more thing, snow shaved with over 20 flavors to choose from. You will be surprised how good this 1/2 ice cream, 1/2 Italian ice tastes. I've also discussed about some of the negative feedbacks from early Yelps commens, she said she had a few problems last year when the business was just started. She promised all of the issues has been taking care off. Give her a second chance to serve the customers better. Right now, she is running a promotion, everything in the store is by 3 get 1 free. TERRIBLE! HORRIBLE!!!! Bad all around! Avoid this deli! I order 4 combination banh mi sandwiches since you get 1 free. There's hardly any meat in there. It also lacks taste, very bland. I also ordered the Thai che mixed fruit dessert and that was so nasty! The coconut milk has rotten which made it sour!
