Seriously the best pho in the San Leandro area! The flavors are so delicious and complex and it gives you that happy full feeling without being too stuffed. The fries chicken is also to die for! They use the perfect amount of oil so it isn't too greasy at all. The owner, George, is always there and super nice and really makes you feel welcome. Lots of space in the place, they don't overcrowd it with tables like they do in the city restaurants. You have a good amount of elbow room between the tables and can hear each other talk. Great value and friendly service from Saigon House, really enjoyed the vermicelli definitely hit the spot for a quick lunch. Vermicelli came with some tasty crunchy peanuts, pickled daikon and carrots, green onion oil with a side of fish sauce Also ordered rare beef pho but the beef wasn't particularly rare or thinly sliced, sort of reminded me of some of the stir fry beef which has been pre-seasoned with cornstarch to soften a bit. Pho Broth could have been a bit richer. Served with herbs on side, bean sprout, jalepeno, cilantro, lemon. There wasn't any basil as you usually would see. Decided to try at this little gem with good review. Honestly it didn't hit my taste. I tried rare beef with rice noodles. The broth didn't bring out my yummy spot. It was plain at first sip. After adding a few ingredients in the sauce, it tasted better however it didn't encourage me to finish the bowl. I gave it another try with banh mi. Got a pork one and chicken one. This place is great! The bun Bo hue is delicious. Spice was added to the side so you can chose the right amount of spice. There was also an abundant of meat. My boyfriend got the pho dac bet but to me it didn't look like normal ones with the tendon and other toppings. Egg rolls were great. Overall a great lunch spot. No frills and you can eat outside. I am giving this place a higher review because the owner is just a great person. On the outside he seemed like a tough dad. He got a delivery from Amazon while we were dining. I would say this is my fav pho place in the Hayward-San Leandro area. Their combo pho is amazing! Everything is now one size and it's definitely big enough for me. I can never finish the noodles but the broth is spot on - piping hot, beefy, and has all of the aromatics of pho. Some places add too much cloves and cinnamon and it's too overpowering, but not here! Only down side is that they don't serve brisket with the pho. But that's not a big deal bc the broth is so good. This is the perfect hangover cure and they open at 10am!!! They've got a pretty extensive menu which we've only started to explore but can vouch for introductory Vietnamese dishes: pho, banh mi, vermicelli bowls. We've mixed and matched proteins and our favorite combos are the beef pho, pork banh mi, and chicken vermicelli bowls. The pho was good but I would try something else next time. It wasn't crowded when we arrived but by the time we were finished it was packed! Saigon House is one of the better Viet spots in San Leandro. Not only do they have a variety of options but they are much more affordable than other places that have really risen in pricing. My friend and I came here on a weekend lunch and had a great experience. We were seated outside which was perfect, as we're actively trying to avoid eating indoors as much as possible. They have a few tofu dishes for those that are either plant-based or are looking for something different from the usual meat dishes. At first I was interested in their #72 Tofu Vermicelli, but when asked if they had a substitute sauce for their fish sauce, they said they only had soy sauce. Instead, he recommended the rice dishes below with either string beans or mushrooms. I asked if I could have both ingredients in my dish and they obliged. I ended up with the #73 Stir-Fried Tofu & String Beans with Mushrooms included ($10). The dish is vegan as far as I know, with a mix of the aforementioned ingredients along with onions and cilantro. Fortunately they had this because my plate was really good. The fried tofu was delicious and the veggies were sautéed well. It was cooked with a soy sauce like dressing which I hope was vegan, and not accidentally oyster sauce... Again, really hoping it was fully vegan but what's done is done, so I hope it was okay. If you really want to be sure what you eat is vegan friendly, I'd say the tofu spring rolls or enjoying any of the rice plates without sauce is probably your best bet. We ended up staying there for over an hour and weren't rushed to leave or anything. I wish we had gotten checked up on more frequently for water refills but it was a small minor detail in an otherwise great experience. read more

Popped by here with my girlfriend for lunch a few weekends ago. One thing to mention before I even get started - **the best Garlic Noodles I've had since moving here** Now that that's been stated... We popped in on a Saturday afternoon and the restaurant was fairly busy - but we were able to get seated pretty quickly. Once seated we promptly were asked for our order. For food, we shared an order of the Tofu Roll. And for our main meals, I ordered the Pho Tai Nam Bo Vien and my Girlfriend got the garlic noodles with tofu. The pho was solid - some of the best pho I've had since moving to the Bay area. The Tofu rolls were also really good - the tofu was perfectly crisp and every bit was delicious. The highlight by far though was the garlic noodles my girlfriend got. She had told me before going here that this was her favorite spot for them and I completely understand why. The noodles were extra savory and garlicky and the tofu that came along with it was cooked to perfection - it had the perfect bite and was seasoned very nicely. Saigon House is a nice local spot in this area of San Leandro. The location has its own parking lot, so there should be somewhat of an easier time finding parking, though I have been told they're typically pretty busy, so make sure to plan accordingly as there's other eateries in the same shopping center too that may take up space too. Space wise, there's a good amount of space on the inside of the restaurant, but they also have a large area setting up in the parking area in front of the place, so there's no shortage of seating, especially with how things have opened up again. The owner of this place is known as George to the locals, and other regulars at Saigon House. I don't live in the area, so I wouldn't be familiar, but my sister seemed quite familiar with George, and he seems like an easy going guy who likes to chat with people, so definitely get your conversation faces on for a conversation. Since we were having a family gathering, we decided to get a bunch of party tray portions of the food here. Let's start off with the pricing. Prices are good, not too expensive, but also not terribly cheap, but for the amount of food that you're getting (at least with the party tray sizes), it's a good bang for your buck. Menu was pretty big, as it has all the standard Vietnamese style dishes, and have all the basics, such as pho, rice plates, and other things. What we ordered today was a party tray garlic noodles w/chicken, party tray of the fried egg rolls, and a couple of trays of the chicken salad. We will start with the chicken salad. It was nice. It's not going to knock your socks off, but it was tasty nonetheless. This dish is much more reliant on the ingredients being good, rather than the dressing, as the only real dressing is just fish sauce, so if you're not a fan, you may not dig this as much. But the ingredients in it are really the pieces that shine here. The fried egg rolls were fantastic, and definitely a great choice, as everyone enjoyed it quite much, as it's a bit heftier than your typical fried egg rolls from Vietnamese places. Crunchy, and packed with yummy. Garlic noodles and Vietnamese grilled chicken? Yes please. The garlic noodles they are going to be a bit thicker, and puffier than your typical Asian noodles, but it actually works pretty well to pack in those flavors, so no complaints at all here. The chicken is tender, and tasty. Definitely a dish I would recommend as it's one of those dishes that you typically won't get from a pho place, but will get from a more specialized Vietnamese one. If you're in the mood for some delicious Vietnamese food, I would recommend dropping by Saigon House if in the area, or if you live close-ish by. My sister lives in Castro Valley, but she's always more than happy to make the trip down here to get some more garlic noodles. read more

Most of the customers appeared to be local neighbors coming for dine-in, takeouts (lots!), and catering. My first impression was the cleanliness and spaciousness of the restaurant. It's relaxing to eat here with no flies buzzing around, clean floors and tables. People lingered to chat after finishing their meals. The multilingual owner does all the front-of-house services from taking orders to distributing endless takeouts. The food came out soon after ordering. Highlight was the grilled pork roll that came with flavorful pork, freshly made and served with thick peanut sauce. BBH broth was not spicy though chili flakes are provided on the side. The price point at $13+ was a good deal for the quantity and quality of ingredients (no pork blood cube). I will go back to try other dishes. read more

A hole in the wall Vietnamese pho place in a strip mall, found this place through Yelp after finishing driving range practice at a nearby golf course. Arrived at around 12:30pm and it was about 70% full although the restaurant itself is not big. Vietnamese/Cantonese speaking staff, not great service but overall acceptable. The Bun Bo Hue was pretty tasty. The broth was spicy enough with pretty strong bone flavor, I really like the pig blood cube texture, it's getting hard to find this exact type of traditional pig blood cube from a lot of pho places. Pork knuckle and beef shank were all good. Shrimp Spring Roll was nice that they didn't make it too thick so it was easy to bite and enjoy, very fresh vegetables and shrimp included, thin rice sheet wrap. Overall, decent price, good pho, what else can you ask for? They also have many other noodles and rice dish options and I will go back and try. read more

I ordered pho dac biet, the beef noodle combination noodle soup. Let's start with the broth. The color was light and the broth was a lit sweet. Didn't really get the true pho beef broth flavors in my opinion. The meat were not cut that great and the beef seems more like hot pot meat and they weren't super generous with the meat. Tons of noodles though. Spring roll only had half a shrimp inside and all I tasted was a lit veggie and tons of noodles. Presentation wasn't all that great either. The Thai iced tea was overly sweet. I cannot taste the tea at all. This is prob one Thai iced tea I never finish in my life so far. I had the best Bun Rieu here! Usually the broth for bun rieu is too sweet for me and "fake" tasting but here it tastes homemade and is milder but still really good seafood-y flavor. You know it's authentic when they serve you a side of shrimp paste, shaved cabbage and all the fixins too. Good amount of pork blood, tofu, tomato and crab/egg mixture so you leave here feeling full.
