I was at the gun range in San Leandro and was looking for a nice filling lunch afterwards. We found this place on yelp nearby and decided to give it a shot. Wow, the pho was so flavorful and the bahn mi was amazing (the only thing I wish was that the cilantro had less stems). If I lived nearby I would come here a lot! Solid Vietnamese food in the East Bay coming from a Viet person! The prices are very fair! It does feel like an authentic Vietnamese restaurant. It's kinda hole in the wall but is a hidden gem. We came back for the second time and my partner got a bowl of pho and banh mi for himself! I wasn't as hungry so I got the grilled pork spring rolls but we enjoyed the hell out of our food. After the Joe's Pho incident, we decided to check this place out down the road. The place was packed with a line almost out the door even for to-go orders. Looks like it's family ran and not many workers. The owner was hustling though! We got a table outside because we had our puppy with us. I ended up standing in the line to place our order and food came out at a decent rate considering how crazy it was. We got the Bun Bo Hue and Bun Rieu. Both were really good and tasted homemade. I order the same thing at every Vietnamese restaurant - and here's why I have Saigon House as one of my top 3 in the Bay Area. I'll have to admit I'm not a Pho type of guy, even though usually everyone around me is. Instead, I order egg rolls over vermicelli at every Vietnamese restaurant. Every. Single. One. But Saigon House is one of the few that forces me to order something different. Why? Because their grilled pork is just that good. Every grilled pork is slightly different, and theirs gets high marks for being tender and fatty. Sometimes the pork at Vietnamese places can be tough and chewy - which is why I usually stick with egg rolls. Not so here. But then I came across a problem: I also really liked their egg rolls too. They do have a "grilled pork AND egg roll over vermicelli" dish, but comes sadly with only 1 egg roll. So, wanting to get my fix of egg rolls too, my go-to order every time is: Grilled pork over vermicelli, with a side of egg rolls. One of the few places that has gotten me to stray from my "usual." The way I always do this is I type up every item I will order exactly as written in the menu on my phone. The reason I do this is so that I can take notes as we go. What a homey Vietnamese Cantonese speaking restaurant! It's in a small place with lots of plants and fake plants hanging from the ceiling in addition to the traditional praying temple post. My boyfriend and I ordered their vermicelli bowls, the pork and egg rolls bowl and the chicken bowl. All of the ingredients were so fresh and the service was great and quick. There was a generous side of fish sauce for us to pour (or not pour) into our bowls and also they did not skimp out on the meat. It was plentiful! Tried this place today to see if it lived up to the reviews and was happy to find out it did. Tried the seafood and beef combo phos with a side of egg rolls and the grilled pork to go. My favorite pho place!!! Literally any other place I try does not compare to this. The owner George is such a sweetheart and he remembers his regulars. My favorite dishes are the garlic noodles (which have the perfect amount of garlic and chicken) and the rare steak pho as the broth is so delicious. The portions are reasonable as well as the price and I always feel satisfied after my meal. If you also get a chance, you should try the thai iced tea as well because it's the right amount of sweetness. Overall, I'm a regular and there's a reason why Saigon House is rated so highly. Was craving pho in San Leandro and decided on this restaurant. It's located in a large lot with plenty of parking. The restaurant was unassuming and had a few tables outside. Inside is relatively small with one man running orders. We were seated immediately and ordered quickly. We noticed the cheap prices and the menu pictures were promising. As we waited for our food, we noticed a lot of to-go orders. We ordered the nem nuong spring rolls (4NN), pho tai, and bun rieu. The food came out together very shortly after. The nem nuong spring rolls were amazing! The amount of meat was generous in the 2 rolls. I highly recommend trying these. I should have asked for fish sauce, but these rolls come with a thick peanut sauce. I really enjoyed the bun rieu. The shrimps were big and fresh. There was a generous portion of noodles and crab meat. The pho was also tasty and had a generous portion of meat. I love supporting local businesses and so happy to have found this place. Even though their prices are cheap, they definitely do not skimp on the quality. The bun rieu was full of flavor and had generous portions. We were looking for late lunch and she said that she wanted Vietnamese. Yelp too us to Saigon House which is located in a small strip mall where there are several eateries nearby. There were a few tables outside under the deep overhang to the entrance and numerous tables inside. We were surprised to see that while there was only one table in use inside and another outside, many tables had dirty dishes on them. Upon entry, we were told to take any available table. We chose a 4-top. Menus and water were presented. We took our time perusing the menu, discussing what we were in the mood for. We weren't ready when the server came to take our order and asked for a couple more minutes and he told us to take our time and just holler when we were ready. Another customer came in for a take-out order and we indicated that we were ready after he received his order and left. We ordered: Fried Shrimp Roll - 5 - Fresh tasting shrimp wrapped in a crispy wrapper served with Sweet Chili Sauce. Item #50CB - 3 - The menu shows that this should have come with a Fried Egg but the picture shows that there was no egg on the plate. Did we misorder? There was no similar item listed on the menu so we think that the kitchen forgot the egg and unfortunately, we didn't notice it. Otherwise the flavors were good. Combination Beef Pho - 3 - It hit the spot but didn't make me crave more. I love tendon and there was only one small piece. It may have sat in the kitchen for a minute because what I usually recognize as rare steak was cooked. The picture doesn't show the Basil, Cilantro, Bean Sprouts and Lime that I used. Iced Vietnamese Coffee - 4 - Excellent coffee but just a tad too sweet for our taste. Apparently they make several servings and have them ready in the refrigerator for customers who order them. The server told us that he often sells 50 orders every Saturday and that it's quite popular. We'll give them another chance when in the area again. I've been taking my family here for a few years after our favorite pho place down the street closed (Cilantro) and my family could not decide for a long time on which pho place met everyone's tastes (including Joe's Pho which is so overrated and overpriced BTW). Well...this one hits the spot for all four of us. They have spring/summer rolls, fried chicken wings with fish sauce, short ribs on garlic noodles, pho ga, banh mi, and bun that everyone loves. This place is right around the corner from my house but this is my first time trying it, which is odd because it's amazing! We decided, on a hot day to try this place out because I really wanted some spring rolls. It's in a medium sized parking lot, and it right on the corner. Since it was hot and it didn't feel like they had AC we sat right by the door near the window. The owner immediately greeted us.
