I read that Rosslyn had some of the best Viet food in DC, so I eagerly walked from the metro station only to find out that Pho 75 was closed, which was fair, granted that Tet was the next day. Thankfully, Saigon Noodles & Grill was across the street and also had great reviews. The place had a different decor than most Viet places I'd been to, but still felt like an immigrant American experience, which felt cozy and recognisable to me. The place was booming, so the service was a bit slow, despite the 18% mandatory gratuity. However, this family business was doing their best. I went with the summer rolls and the special pho -- both were good. The summer rolls came with the hoisin peanut sauce which was sweet and had the consistency I prefer. The pho broth was good enough, though I'd had better. I would have liked the flank steak to not have been cooked so thoroughly, but that might just be a NY preference. My friend and I love Saigon Noodles! They have a pretty large dining area and also a bar (it's not open during the day, but I think they're open at night for dinner service). We were seated quite fast; they were also quick to check back in to take our orders and bring our drinks. Our server was also really patient with some substitutions and requests. That was really appreciated. I ordered a taro milk tea drink with boba, and a wonton soup with rice noodles instead of egg noodles, extra jalapenos, bean sprouts and basil. My friend ordered a mango smoothie drink with boba and chicken pho with jalapenos, basil and lemon/lime. It was freezing when we came in, so the soup and pho were extra delicious and warmed us right up! I had been craving some taro milk tea honestly, and this drink just hit the right spot! We were on our way elsewhere on foot in Arlington seeking food after 9:30 P.M., but we liked the looks of Saigon Noodles and stopped in and were not disappointed. We were greeted by the host and promptly seated at one of the cloth draped tables and presented with sizeable, formal-looking menu books with a good variety of Viet noodle dishes, banh mi, and so much more. I settled on a shrimp and vegetable stir fry which was delicious and generous in quantity, and though I can't remember what my friend decided on, he was well pleased with that as well. Table service was quiet and efficient, And we didn't have to wait long for the food though at nearly 10:00 p.m. there weren't many people in the restaurant to cause a wait. I am glad I gave this restaurant a try. I was in the Arlington area and wanted to treat my family to a Vietnamese dinner. Originally we were going to go to Pho 75 but decided to try a new place. We love Saigon Noodles and Grill, it's been our go-to pho place for a long time. The pho is always consistent and with the large, you can very easily get two meals out of it. We've tried a few of the appetizers and the summer rolls are the best, I wouldn't recommend most of the fried options. We tried the bubble tea for the first time and were pretty disappointed, however. The blackmilk tea was pretty frozen and had an odd taste, and the taro was fine, not great. We probably won't be ordering bubble tea again. We typically order out but when we go for pickup, the staff we've interacted with are kind and the space is large. read more

I understand doing it for parties of 6 or more but with two people in a pretty empty restaurant (it was 630-7p in fairness), I'd expect better service than what was provided. It wasn't great. We order from here regularly on ubereats. Our meals are consistently packed well. We ordered our "go-to" bbq beef bahn mi and bbq pork vermicelli to share since we couldn't decide between the two. The bahn mi was good. The bread used has a good crust and held the contents well. It was packed with bbq beef, that was tasty, and my favorite items--pickled veggies, cilantro and cucumber. There was also a small strip of jalepeno, which I don't really care for (personal preference). But the whole sandwich was enjoyable. Bbq pork and spring roll vermicelli plate is one of my favorite things. The bbq pork was good with that slight bbq char and it was served with vermicelli noodles that were cooked well. It came with the pickled veggies and some salad (lettuce and cucumber and bean sprouts). I enjoy getting the one spring roll, it's usually enough for me to have the one crispy, meaty roll. I came here with my friend because... okay, I don't really like the pho at the restaurant across the street (very unpopular opinion, but that's mine) so I wanted to try the alternative, which is Saigon Noodles & Grill. The restaurant is definitely a lot cleaner and spacious - my friend and I got our waters and menus pretty quickly. We also got our food reasonably fast. PHO: Tái, Nạm, Gầu, Gân, Sách (SMALL) - 13 If you want the large bowl, you just pay an extra $1 for a slightly bigger bowl but I really think it's just more noodles. Upon first sip, the broth was perfectly flavorful - a clean and clear broth that isn't too oily. The noodles were overcooked and tasted pretty soggy to me and there was so much of it in a small bowl. The ratio of noodles to broth was too much, which led to bland and starchy tasting broth after a bit. They don't give you a lot of meat here - the quality of the meat was just OK. I think I only had a small piece of tripe or two. Again, way too much noodles, more than I could finish. I rather have more broth than noodles to avoid diluting the flavors of the broth. We were able to finish our meal without feeling rushed within 40 minutes after stepping into the restaurant. Not sure if I'd come back here if I'm craving pho. read more

Honestly, I have pretty mixed feelings about Saigon. I still appreciate that they have a vegetarian pho option, which Saigon's highly popular counterpart across the street lacks, but their vegetable and tofu pho is honestly one of the only advantages that Saigon has over the other Vietnamese restaurants in the area. The vegetarian pho broth is pretty lacking in flavor, but thankfully everything can be fixed with a bottle of sriracha and hoisin sauce. They provided an average serving of fried tofu, but the tofu was a bit dry despite being submerged in the broth, but I couldn't tell if it was because the tofu was overcooked or had been left to sit out for too long. The veggies were a bit overcooked, but I appreciated that they were quite plentiful. One thing that Saigon does have that other nearby Vietnamese restaurants lack, though, is traditional Vietnamese fare aside from banh mi and pho. One of the friends that I came here with ordered their fried tilapia platter, and he was pleasantly surprised by how authentic and delicious their take on this traditional dish was! I certainly appreciate Saigon, and it makes me sad to see how empty the restaurant is every time I visit, but the quality of their pho really can't compare to the many other Vietnamese spots in the D.C. / NoVA area. I'll still come here out of convenience (and because Pho 75 still can't accommodate my dietary restrictions), but if I have access to a car or am truly craving great pho, I'll probably opt for another location. read more

This is my FAVORITE Pho spot in all of the DMV. I have eaten here a million times and will continue to do so because it it's my guilty pleasure. The Pho is delicious, well flavored, great meats/veggies, and made with love. They have amazing spring rolls too with a yummy peanut sauce to accompany it. The service in the restaurant is great. The prices are even better. The staff is so so nice and you can tell they're very genuine. It has almost a family feel to it which makes me love eating there even more. I have ordered to go as well through uber eats and it's so good even at home. I feel like some restaurants suck when you get it delivered to your house but this place is great at home and great at their location. I prefer this spot over the pho spot across the street in my opinion. Saigon noodles & grill is lowkey slept on. All I can say is WOW! I'm so glad I found this place and I will be returning. The broth for this pho has to be award-winning because I have never had anything like it. I didn't need to add any additional fixes to my pho either. I loved the crispy spring rolls. They were huge too! The inside was so nice and the service was spectacular. Beautiful indoor dinning atmosphere and perfect for date night! They even have a separate bar section and it was huge! Hubby and I stopped in to fulfill my pho crave and the menu offered so many options, we struggled to agree on what to order. We started with summer rolls and fried quails with some Tsing Tao. Of course I ended up with the bun hue (love my super spicy foods) as my main dish and Hubby went with loc lac as his (shaky beef). They make their own spicy oil in-house and we definitely added it to everything! We enjoyed our time dining and chatting and ordered probably 3 rounds of beers. Jovi (the owner) was a hoot and definitely came to check in on us multiple times. Hubby ended up with a second round of fried quails and I got a bubble tea and a combo banh mi to go. It wasn't busy when we went (Thursday late afternoon/evening). First of all, Saigon noodles is not your typical Vietnamese pho place, and it doesn't claim to be. This restaurant highlights staples in the Vietnamese cuisine with its extensive menu ranging from various soups, rice dishes, and "specialty dishes". While not 100% authentic it is as close as it can get while catering to its target Arlington demographic. With that in mind I was pleasantly surprised how good this place was. Walking in, the restaurant itself is big with ample seating and a great bar area. It was late on a weeknight so we were seated quickly and our food came out super fast. Our table got a few apps to share with the papaya salad and quail being the stars of the show. For my main I got the spicy noodle soup (bun Bo hue). Let me tell you, while it was tasty, it was definitely central Vietnam spicy. If you can take the heat this dish is for you. Luckily I was too full from the apps I didn't need to finish my bowl to be full, but what I did eat was good. My friends got the pho and they beef and rice dish. The portion of pho was on the small side compared to a regular pho restaurant but this is the only place I know that still has a $13 bowl of pho with an adequate amount of meat in it, so I'm okay with it. The broth was on the lighter side but still good. I didn't try the beef dish but I was told it was delicious. If you're in the area and are looking to branch out to different Vietnamese dishes outside of Pho and Banh Mi, this is a great spot for you. Happy eating! read more

Grabbed lunch here on a Monday afternoon and it wasn't too busy at all! I easily got a table for eight and there was still so much seating available. The restaurant's located on the corner of a pretty busy intersection in Arlington. There's street parking pretty available as well as a small parking lot across the street. They have an extensive selection of pho, rice dishes, and appetizers. I had the grilled pork with vermicelli noodles and it was so good! The pork was grilled and seasoned to perfection with well balanced portions of peanuts, lettuce, bean sprouts, and cucumber. As for the price of everything, nothing was over $14. The small size pho was $13 and the large was $14 which wasn't too big of a cost difference with the bowl size being way bigger. Like many others on Yelp, I went to this place because Pho 75 was closed. It's crazy that slight nuances in a dish that you could not possibly recreate makes the experience completely different in another place. I think this place is a good temporary alternative to Pho 75 but I don't think it can be a substitute nor replacement. Food 4/5: To be fair, the food wasn't bad. But with the abundance of options merely miles away and the benchmark to be the pho across the street, I thought the broth lacked a hint of special flavor and was $1 too expensive (which is big, in pho-terms). Service 4/5: Service was straightforward and nothing to complain about. Cleanliness 4/5: The place is being Covid-safe. Ambiance 3.5/5: Perhaps my lackluster experience was because of the ambiance. This place used to be a wine store/specialty food place and is quite spacious. The current decor tries to be a mix between fine Asian dining and upscale casual, but something feels off. Perhaps it's the fact that the lighting was spotty or that the place is still figuring out its brand identity. But again, compared to Pho 75 which is a no-frills pho place, this place leaves me questioning, "Is it a no-frills place? Is it trying to be fancier?" Came here because another place looked a little too crowded...food here was overall pretty decent so I have no regrets: Bi cuon: This was actually thit nuong cuon (grilled pork instead of shredded pork skin) but the thit nuong was soft and flavorful. Although I like bi as well, I actually usually order thit nuong cuon if it's available so I'm actually glad it came out the way it did. Yum. Pho: The noodles came overdone and the broth is rather light and not as flavorful as I'd like, but it was still refreshing on a cold day. Big shame on the noodles though. I also got some meat that were sliced slightly too thick as well, which I rarely see happen at a pho joint, but I still ate it. We decided to support our mom and pop neighborhood restaurant for a late night dinner and were pleased to stop by at Saigon Noodles & Grill. Upon arrival, we were greeted with a warm welcome and seated immediately. Our waitress brought out water right away and answered any questions we had regarding the menu. I ordered the Lemongrass Pho and my boyfriend ordered the traditional Pho. Our meal came out in a timely manner! We appreciated the meat to broth to noodles ratio--and on top of that the condiments tasted fresh. I really enjoyed my pho and the portions were extremely generous. The owner even greeted us and checked up on us a few times to make sure we had everything we needed. I can't speak for my authenticity radar but this place had decent Vietnamese/ Asian fare for a really good price. I have been struggling to find a place to order fried rice in the Clarendon area for 3 years and was happy to come to this place to get both Pho and fried rice. Was it the best fried rice I've ever tasted? Probably not but it did the damn job. The chicken pho was good and the "small" portion was absolutely huge. Wine or beer was only $4 and a large Pho was $10. Even their egg rolls were pretty decent and I loved dipping them in all the sauces at the table.
