Bo Kho (tender beef and potato stew)
Leah F.

The restaurant is under new owners/management, and the menu has been refined and perfected. Delicious food, Bo Kho, meatballs, and spring rolls are my favourite. They have fresh oysters, mussels and clams daily, newly expanded drink menu. Would highly recommend! Following covid regulations - call to make a reso to check on hours as restrictions changing weekly

Garlic butter mussels

I came here for a special occasion at lunch. Was hoping it was going to be amazing. It was a big disappointment. The food tasted horrible. Especially the garlic butter mussels. It was too salty and rubbery. We ate it anyways. But we should have sent it back. The sizzling steak and eggs was very bland. The appetizers Saigon platter came with chips, spring rolls, salad rolls and chicken wings. Chicken wings was tiny, salad roll and chips had no flavour. On the menu it saids chips come with a special homemade sauce but no special sauce was served. I had to ask for fish sauce to dip my spring rolls. Presentation and service was excellent but the food did not live up to the decor and the price. Too bad. I was hoping this will be my new spot to come to. But food is tasteless and overpriced. I will go back to Linh Cafe and Pho Central. Good luck.

A joke photo for my dude to show him where he'd be sitting if he weren't on the wrong side of our border

Such a beautiful restaurant and the servers, hosts are such lovely, helpful people. This restaurant is under new ownership and the manager (?) shared with me some exciting plans they have for introducing interesting vegan options packed with plant based protein. I predict I'll be a regular here.

Poutine

New #vietnamesefood spot in #yaletown . The pho needs more depth to the soup. The Vietnamese poutine was a fail as no one can taste the tamarind. One of the chicken wings was not cooked through. The spicy papaya green mango salad was the best dish of meal with the perfect balance between savory, sweet, sour, spicy and light bitterness. We may come back to try other dishes.

The space is much nicer, with high ceilings and lots of light - great looking bistro. I ended up trying the following: - Mussels: Very good. Classic dish, but I really like the use of cream in the broth. - Bánh Mì Cay Hải Phòng (Spicy Baguette Sticks): Good. A nice little snack, although it would be easy to recreate at home. - Lamb Chops: Very good. Cooked just right, and the pepper sauce added extra flavour. - Fried Frog Legs: Very good. This was probably the surprise dish for me. They weren't just the legs, but the entire bottom of the frog, so the pieces were huge. The garlic, butter and chili flakes gave it a extra punch. I really enjoyed this one. - Pho Bo: Good. Not the best pho I've had, but it's good enough to stand on it's own. Service was quite good. Very cheerful and quite attentive. Overall a nice meal. It's a great space, the food is solid, and service to match. What I really like is having the variety of both French and Vietnamese dishes, without either of them suffering in quality. Only downside is that is it expensive for what you get.

The menu isnt big but they do have a reasonable selection of items but mostly dinner entrees We ordered a mini version of pho bo (beef broth pho), french escargot and the spicy baguette stick. The bone broth was good and the price for the mini version is good for a light lunch. We both enjoyed the spicy baguette stick with the pork pate. A pleasant surprise. However i find the escargot a bit pricey with the quantity and the way it was prepared. Slightly too oily to my personal prefence The iced vietnamese coffee we ordered tasted similar to a regular iced coffee, missing the sweet condensed milk flavor for a vietnamese coffee

Absolutely delicious food; fast, friendly service, can't fault it! We discovered Pho Goodness at…read more1150 Davie Street yesterday and are we glad we did! Went in for lunch with my granddaughter, both of us fans of Vietnamese food. Ordered Green Papaya Salad ($12), Lemongrass Chicken on Vermicelli with one spring roll ($17), one lime soda ($6.50) and one pop ($3). Food arrived within minutes of ordering. Portions were very generous. The salad was perfect with everything very fresh, as it should be but often isn't in some places. Plump prawns and the scent and taste of basil was prominent. Delicious! The lemongrass chicken (we ordered extra chicken) with a spring roll was also very generous. We did not finish it between the two of us. Again, all was fresh, tasty and hot. This is one of our standard orders and Pho Goodness did not disappoint. Granddaughter declared it better than at our regular favourite, and Pho Goodness is around the corner from her home and not a bus ride out to Kingsway! Service was friendly and responsive. We asked that the volume be turned off on the massive TV over our heads (which nobody was watching) (it was), requested a glass for the pop and immediately received a tumbler full of ice. Lovely. We have found a new favourite on Davie Street, a true foodie heaven with a collection of independent restaurants of many ethnicities available. We will return to Pho Goodness when the urge for Vietnamese food strikes again.

Great location, right on a central part of Davie, this is a pretty typical pho joint. They have a…read moresizeable vegetarian section of the menu, including a vegetarian (vegan) noodle soup with veggies and tofu. My wife and I stopped in for dinner one evening and each ordered the aforementioned noodle soup--she got a small ($11.75 plus tax) and I got a regular ($12.75 plus tax). We also got an order of salad rolls ($7.50 plus tax), which comes with 2 rolls. The rolls came quite late. They were pretty standard, coming with fried tofu, vermicelli, and lettuce. The peanut dipping sauce was on the liquidy, salty soy sauce side of things -- I wish it were creamier and less salty. 3/5 The soups were decent. The broth was peppery, with some nice, gentle spices detectable in there. I asked for a side of chili oil, which helped amplify the broth. You get a generous portion of noodles, fried tofu, and vegetables (broccoli, bok choy, carrot). Unfortunately the veggies were quite overcooked -- the broccoli was almost soggy, so were the carrots and bok choy. 3/5 All in all, middle-of-the-road veggie pho. The broth is pleasant. The veggies were overcooked, but plentiful and nicely chosen. Decent place for veggie pho.
