Captain Alice was a sweetheart. Her and her crew did a great job taking care of everyone. The boat was spacious and clean.Remember, it's a 4 hr group fishing charter, so the distance is limited and so is the fishing. Great for families and kids. Mostly small strawberry groupers were caught. If your looking for the big ones like you see in most advertising, you will need to spend more money and time with a semi/ private charter.However for the price it was a nice experience and I would recommend this charter for a family outing.Maybe they could find better fishing spots? The fish just weren't hungry today. Bring your own tackle if you like or they provide everything. Bring your own cooler, use their community cooler or buy drinks and snacks from them. We really enjoyed our experience! The captain and our first mate went out of their way to make sure everyone was happy. We only had one issue, we caught 2 file fish but at the end of the day when the Mate was separating them, he gave one of ours to someone else. Since we now only had one, we gave away the other and just left. Great experience though! I would do it again! Mark your fish though! Lol! read more

Now this was a last minute decision to go out fishing as I had an itch to hit the saltwater. The boat was right next to my hotel and I couldn't have asked for an easier place to choose. I unfortunately didn't get my sea legs out there and spent most of my time sea sick in the wash room. Josh, the first mate is awesome! We had a really nice time. Jamie and Kenny were our fishing captains. ...or whatever you call them. Very nice and patient with my whole group (there were 8 of us) and this was our first time fishing. Our group had 2 kids (11 and 9 years old) and we even brought grandma and grandpa along (80 something years old). So very family friendly. We ended up catching around 13 fish....but ended up keeping only 7 of the because the others were too small. After we were done fishing, Jamie and Kenny cleaned the fish we caught and we left and went right over to a local restaurant and they cooked it up for us. Mostly the skies were clear, with patches of rain and wind in various areas. As someone who grew up boating, I know you can often easily avoid a storm by going the other direction. The captain of the boat headed directly to the storm and then anchored in it. 1/2 mile closer to shore it was sunny, overcast blend with 3-4 foot seas. She chose to anchor in the center of 8-foot seas. It was not only dangerous but many people in our group of 15 got sick. The deckhand was even scared and made a comment that the captain even verbalized being nervous about getting out of there safely. It was too rough to fish and we asked to leave. When leaving the seas were as high as 10 feet and the boat was dropping down between the waves crashing bottom into the lull. As soon as she drove the boat out of the storm the waters were much calmer, she could have offered to stay there but instead kept going. Very disappointed. If you go, check the seas and talk with the captain in advance about avoiding the storm patches and if you get the older lady as a captain just cancel because apparently, she prefers to head for the high seas or has no idea how to navigate weather. read more

I've fished with sailors choice about 5/6 times. Price is low but you get what you pay for... 9/10 times you won't catch large sized fish. This is a good option for those of you who have no experience fishing but other than that my recommendation is to spend a bit more money for the true saltwater fishing experience. Great experience! The water was a bit too rough and there could have been more catches (rainy day) but the service on board was excellent. Jamie, the first mate, and the captain were extremely helpful with instructions and helping out with rod issues and reeling in catches. After the trip Jamie also filleted the fish for a tip. Overall it was a fun experience regardless of the rainy weather and scarce fish (scarce for my group at least!) read more

Wow I never expected to be so disappointed about a fishing charter like I did on this boat. I've been on plenty of fishing boats in my life and I know not every time I'm going to catch a fish so I don't get disappointed because of that. The lack of knowledge this captin and first mate had was little to none. Their rigs were awful and there was barely any help. Don't waste your money here. Find a little more expensive one and you probably will have a better time. read more

I called and asked about pricing. A man I spoke with on the phone said nothing about an up charge for using a credit card. When I arrived without cash, an unpleasant and abrasive woman claimed there was no way I spoke to someone other than her and made me feel like I wasn't telling the truth. I checked the number and I did speak with a man at Sailors Choice. If there would have been some clarity, flexibility or friendliness, I would have paid extra with a credit card (which is a hefty extra amount). But the woman at the ticket counter questioned my character and was unapologetic for the communication issue. I walked away. read more
