My wife and I were exploring the shops in Alexandria Bay, when we became hungry and stumbled upon this Pub. When we walked in, we were greeted instantly and told we could choose anywhere to sit. Our waitress was almost over immediately to hand us menus and took our drink orders. The restaurant had a nice friendly ambiance to it. Seeming like this time a year, it was mainly for locals. There were one or two other people who walked in, who the staffed seemed to know. We ordered some of their garlic cheese bread as an appetizer. I order their southwest shrimp salad, and my wife ordered the cheese Italian bread pizza. We unfortunately were told that we needed to check in early to the place we were staying, so we asked if we could actually have our food to go, and the staff were so accommodating. We did have some of their garlic bread before we left, and it was crispy and fresh with nice gooey cheese. The marinara sauce was very flavorful too. The southwest shrimp salad I had was also delicious. The shrimp were cooked just right with a good amount of seasoning to them. The vegetables and tortilla strips were fresh and crunchy. The cilantro lime dressing also had a nice brightness to it, but also that creamy texture. We will definitely be back in the future when we come back to this area. read more

We visited for an easy lunch, recommended by a local. Small establishment, lotta locals, fairly busy for a weekday. Barkeep/waitress was working hard, very efficient, friendly. My French dip was more like a cheesesteak but still good; my friend's burger was large and properly cooked. Decor was basically bar-like, fine for us: unpretentious and practical. Somewhat limited beer choices on tap, but my canned Blue was cold. Food took a bit long to arrive, but it was busy, so understandable, and orders came out correctly and hot. This place is your stereotypical hole in the wall bar. I don't mean that in a bad way, but it's small and easy to miss. Inside it's cozy and clean. We stopped by for lunch and found the food, typical bar fare, to be done well and at fairly reasonable prices. It wasn't super busy at that time and only the bartender and cook were working. Service was good and the food came out fairly quick. A good spot to stop if you're passing through town. read more

I typically don't review a place on yelp, but the service here is terrible slow. We ordered at 12:15 and the time now is 1:45. Several tables after us got their food before us. There seems to be only one waitress which isn't her fault but we ordered a burger and 2 BLT's. I don't think it takes almost two hours to make these items. I'd avoid this place if you want a quick bite or if you are hungry. If you are ok with getting several drinks and waiting then this place is probably fine. read more

Cheap and greasy. I enjoyed my lunch at the Dockside: the fried chicken ranch sandwich. It was topped with ranch dressing, bacon, american cheese, and lettuce. I managed to eat the whole thing, in addition to tasting a mozzarella stick and a pizza log. The place itself is kinda eh. It's a ... bar. I would rightly assume it hasn't been updated in years. You could either decide it has character or it should be on a save-my-restaurant type of show. (Do they have those for restaurants? I know they do for bakeries..) Anyway. I've eaten a lot of restaurants, but this is the first time I've ever had a waitress call condescendingly ask "where are you people from? Don't they cook meat the normal way in Canada?" I told her we aren't Canadian. She told us she was busy and to hurry up. The only reason we stayed to eat our meal instead of walking out is because most of the places are closed on Tuesday. Went to this bar and was treated very poorly. We ordered 4 drinks at $10 each, we were waiting for some friends before ordering food. We we're told we couldn't squat at the table and that we needed to move to the bar. We were sitting at a high top in the bar area so figured it was for anyone. The bar was full and no seats. There was a bunch of open tables for people to sit and eat. Also, my pumpkin beer was the first out of the keg so it had about 2 inches of foam that ran over and took off all my cinnamon and sugar rim and left my hands sticky as hell. I ate here on memorial day withe three other dining companions. We decided to head here and bypass all of the more crowded places on the main street after reading some yelp reviews. Both couples decided to start out with the poutine. It was served as a large dish that was absolutely covered in cheese and tasted very good. After all, who doesn't like fries, gravy and cheese? For my entree I decided upon a Reuben with French fries. The Reuben was good with the corned beef being nice and tender and it having the perfect amount of sauerkraut and thousand island dressing. The bottom line for me is that I would eat here again in a heartbeat. Our server was both efficient and cheerful while the food was both cheap and delicious. read more

Started with an appetizer of poutine, it was pretty good! I really liked the gravy they used. We ordered a bacon cheeseburger and a buffalo chicken sandwich with sides of fries. The burger was cooked perfectly and the bacon was crunchy, sort of like bacon bits once it broke. Very juicy. The chicken was nothing special but the buffalo sauce was just the right level of spice for me and there was lots of blue cheese which was awesome. I hope you can tolerate awkward silence throughout the bar- the radio station kept cutting out mid song. It would stay off for ten min at a time. Hope they get that fixed. read more

Don't get me wrong ! I understand business can be busy and it can be a handful for whoever may be staffing, but you can sense when someone truly is putting a effort and trying to get everything done, unlike the bartender who worked this afternoon, not much communication and seemed to be focused on having a good time and catering to specific people at the bar. It does not hurt to let a customer know you are busy and trying your best, but plain ignoring and interrupting to talk to a different customer is just plain rude and unprofessional. Took way to long to get our orders in along with the togo boxes and check. For example : asked for a togo box and instead of using that small free time she had to simply grab a box for us, she proceeded to take new drink orders for her overly drunk and loud customers and forget about our box to which we had to remind her once more, which we then waited more time to get. I understand it may be hard to run so many things at once when it's just you, but most people won't mind a wait if you simply talk to them, which this bartender did not do at all. Stopped in here for a quick bite and a cold beer the other day. The place is pretty nice, and the food was pretty good. My favorite part about the place was the nice outside patio--where we sat. The weather was awesome and sitting out on a nice porch having good food and a cold beer prepared and served to you is pretty tough to beat. Visiting from Texas for the first time, I felt that this was the first place I went to where the people were genuinely down to earth. My husband is from Alexandria Bay and this was the first place his dad took us as soon as we arrived. An avid "Texas dive" attendee, I could appreciate the small ma and pop feel of this place, I got to drink ice cold canadian beer, dine on poutine and hamburgers as I got to better know my father-in-law in person.
