We rented two mobility scooters for a day at the "massive" Huntington Garden, Museum and Art…read moreGalleries in San Marino, California. Carlos was my hero for connecting with me by phone before the actual rental time. He explained where to meet with him, in detail. This was important because the Huntington Gardens had construction going on at their front entry gate, so Carlos guided me to an alternate entrance and THEN TO THE DROPOFF SITE on the Huntington property. Quite a gambit. Anyway, Carlos has the best personality. He is gracious and warm. He was prompt in meeting for the drop-off AND for returning to meet for the scooter pick-up. I called him to PLEASE pick up the scooters about 1 hour early, as we were both tired from our adventure. Carlos got to us early and with a smile. The two scooters we rented were excellent for "zipping" around the large property. The property is 207 acres, so trying to do that tour on foot was impossible for us two seniors. Really nice equipment that held it's charge. It was easy to handle indoors (in the galleries) and outdoors (commuting to and through the many gardens.)

Great experience. Chair was waiting for me upon my arrival at the hotel. I'll just leave it here…read morewhen I'm done and the will pick it up. Highly recommend.

I was very disappointed with the customer service at this company. They are located right next door…read moreto Congress Orthopedics where my husband was fitted for a cast on October 5th for a broken hand. The assistant/nurse at Congress sold us a Easy Self Wear Waterproof Arm Cast Cover for showering and we were discharged by a receptionist at the front counter of Congress Orthopedics and paid for the product there. My husbands cast was so large that he was unable to fit his cast through the opening of the cast cover and we realized this at home the next morning when he went to take a shower. The cast cover is in it's original packaging, never been used, and I had the receipt. My husband got his cast off October 31st a month after that first visit. At that visit I asked to return the Cast Cover. I was told by Congress that the cover needed to be returned next door at Durable Performance Equipment which I just learned was a separate company that day. I went next door and the employee there told me it had been past their seven day return policy and kept pointing to the sign on his desk stating their return policy in writing. First of all the assistant sold me something without checking to see if it would actually work with my husband's cast, second of all I live downtown so of course I waited until the next appointment to return it, and most importantly there is NOT a refund policy sign for Durable Performance Equipment on the Congress side. My advice is to let your customers know that Congress Orthopedics and Durable Performance Equipment are two separate companies and if you are going to sell your supplies on the Congress side make sure their staff is trained on fitting you for the product before selling, the receptionist should state the return policy or place a Return policy sign on the Congress side. Had that been done I would have made a special trip and returned it within the seven days. I should not be penalized for your poor processes and procedures.

I'm honestly surprised this place doesn't have more reviews, but I guess that makes sense that the residents probably aren't on Yelp! From the very first meeting, I knew British Home was the one for my uncle- unlike other places where they ignored him or treated him like he couldn't think for himself simply because he's deaf- the staff at the British Home were compassionate and friendly and made efforts to figure out how to communicate with him directly. He's lived there 10 months or more now and we just love the entire staff. We have so much peace of mind knowing he lives there. He originally started off in one of the more independent rooms but when they noticed he needed lots of prompting, they moved him into the building where a nurse is present. He still has his independence too but they also keep a closer eye on him which I appreciate due to his medical conditions. They have a very full calendar of activities. I believe there are 2-4 activities every day except for Sundays, including two different exercise classes, art classes and more. They also do regular outings that the residents can sign up for. I've joined him for exercises classes (always lots of participants) and lunch a few times, and the residents and the staff have all been very nice. The staff is also very proactive in communicating with me if my uncle needs something - like more socks, more shoes, etc. I don't know if they do this for everyone, but they have taken him to get his eyes checked and get new glasses, and he's got an appointment to see the dentist next week. He's also signed up for SCAN and there's a nurse practitioner that comes to the facility regularly to check in on the residents. The dining room is very sizable and it always appears full and lively during mealtimes. They also have a salon where they offer regular hair cuts, shaves etc I believe once per week or twice per month. They have raised garden beds that the residents can work on, if interested. Wr first toured the place in December and it was decorated beautifully for Christmas. It's always decorated very nicely all year round for any seasonal holidays. The outside is very spacious. There's a huge lawn and many areas to sit outside. The home hosts many events. They host regular event nights for only the residents. They just had one last week that I believe was themed by a certain decade (like 50s). A month and a half ago, they had a casino night that was opened up for family and friends. Early in the summertime, they have their annual British home festival event which is opened up to the whole community- it was all things British and lots of fun. They also offer quarterly lunches/brunches for family and friends to join the residents. Other than that, they've always been very welcoming anytime I come to visit whether during the weekend or mid week. From what I can tell, any openings are filled very quickly. As soon as someone tours the place, they can see how amazing it is. We've run into people touring the facility at times and they'll tell us how nice they think it is. The rates are very affordable (well, for California). I toured a few places and the British Home was less expensive than the others, while offering more compassion and care, more independence, and more activities. I HIGHLY recommend the British Home.
