Two weeks after the work the rotors turned powdery bright orange. Which you could see through my jet black 2000 dollar TSW wheels. They said oh that's not important as long as they function. It was obvious that I had updated the look and performance of this older Highlander. What the heck? .....absolute nuts. They refused to fix it. So I shelled out the money for all new parts and Peerless did the job. Personally, I feel like, if I was man this would never of happened. Every time I drive by I flip them off. hehehe

The good parts are very good -- very friendly and helpful people who give back to the community…read more Doing a comprehensive inspection on your vehicle in return for a donated bag of groceries is a really outstanding gesture of care. You get photos and detailed notes on the inspection electronically, and they also print out a list of their findings for you to have. Now for the not-so-good. The major not-good is the outrageous prices they quoted in their estimate for suggested and needed repairs. Most of the items on the list were things we could do ourselves for far less money. Some were curious -- when the key fob and interior button wouldn't open the trunk, it seems the mechanic never tried just using the manual release on the trunk itself, which works fine. Similarly, they wanted a couple hundred dollars to diagnose why the TPMS system light was flashing, but they never aired the tires up to spec or test drove the vehicle to see if the light went steady or went out. And nearly five hundred dollars to replace the battery? I'm a shade-tree mechanic from way back, and it feels insulting to be quoted exorbitant prices for things that anyone who can follow directions can do. So, if your car repairs are paid for by insurance and the adjuster approves, or if you have an unlimited car repair budget, I'm sure this shop will do a great job, and you'll love interacting with the personnel. But we have already gotten the oil changed for less than 2/3 of their quoted price, and have two quotes on some major service that would have cost literally one to two thousand dollars more at this shop, so we'll reluctantly pass on any further work there.

We called our regular mechanic we've been using for years who are honest, people of integrity, very good mechanics and for this reason we always take all of our vehicles to them but they were booked 3 weeks in advance. We made an appointment any way. We needed our repair sooner so I searched for mechanics that specialize in air conditioning and Auto Angels came up and remembering that my brother told me that they are good mechanics. So upon calling Auto Angels, they got us in right away next morning and told us that the repair would be $407 tax included. Later that day I received a call and was told we needed an AC overhaul and that it would cost $3074 and also other repairs needed totaling $11000 dollars including an oil change, stating that oil is very dirty. I mentioned to a lady on the phone that I didn't have $3000 right now but i would have to do this repair later and would go pick up our car. She was polite about it. We bought our vehicle brand new and have kept up with all required services and our vehicle has always run great. I talked with the mechanic and told him that we just had the oil changed not even driven 500 miles and he mentioned that if oil hadn't been changed for a while it will make the new oil look dirty. Being an auto mechanic myself sometime back, I immediately knew this was a lie and he was trying to bs me. Then I was charged $345 just for the diagnostic. This angered us. I called several places and asked what a diagnostic would cost just to determine repair if an AC unit needed an over haul. All averaged less than $200. Being charged $345 and never communicating this to us that there would be a charge for the diagnostic ahead of time in my opinion is crooked. We ended up keeping our reservation with our regular honest mechanic and he determined that there was no indication that we needed an AC overhaul but Compressor needed replacing and repair was just over $1000. Upon the start of the repair, our mechanic noticed that the nut that holds the pulley on the compressor was missing and was surprised the pulley hadn't fallen off so apparently Auto Angel mechanic forgot to put the bolt back or didn't tighten it and it fell off. Repair was made by our honest mechanic and AC works excellent with a 3 year 36000 mile warranty. We received a post card from Gabriel and Caroline requesting a review.

The previous shop I went to told me I needed to replace my front suspension and a few other things. Ron at Santa Fe Auto Tec did not charge me for a second opinion. He found that my suspension looked fine, and the clunking was from a loose CV axle nut. He tightened the nut and the clunking sound was gone. I paid what I feel is a reasonable price for 1 hour of labor - much better than what I would have paid to replace my suspension at the other shop, which would not have even solved my problem! It can be hard to find a trustworthy car mechanic but it seems to me that there are some good ones here. I would definitely recommend this shop.

So I declined the service and took the car for a second opinion-- with the service report in hand -- to Santa Fe Auto Tec, which was highly recommended by a neighbor I respect. Ron put my car on a lift and spent a lot of time going over each item on the report. He called called me with the verdict. "Your car is in perfect shape. There is absolutely nothing at all that needs to be fixed. The report from Toyota of Santa Fe is bogus and I've seen this happen before." After all the time and attention Rob spent on my car, he charged me nothing. I am thrilled to give him my business now and feel relieved to have found a Toyota specialist I can trust. We were perplexed. We drove to Sante Fe, spent the night in a Walmart parking lot. Got up to leave the next day and the Motorhome really had trouble getting into gear. We were very confused. Looked on Google map for a garage that could check out our Ford Triton V-10. We found the closest place was Master Tech Auto Repair. We definitely made the right decision. The owner Ari Gordon came out...especially since we were blocking the road with our Motorhome towing a car, and we told him our situation and he immediately checked under the hood and diagnosed what the problem was. Which turned out to be out of transmission fluid ????. He had one of his mechanics come out and add a few quarts. Originally Ari said he wouldn't charge us for such a quick fix, but it ended up taking way more than a quart of ATF. So paying a reasonable amount for service provided to us on the street was not an issue. We were more than happy to compensate. The quick response to our desperate need and providing honest mechanical needs to people not knowing any garage..... priceless!!! Not only did Amy and Annie do everything possible to get me in and out before my ETD, they were both warm and funny and authentically welcoming. Ari and his team are knowledgeable, skillful, and compassionate. While handling my tune up they found and resolved many issues for me, and alerted me to additional issues that might wait until after I return. Ari took the time to go over in detail, with both photos and drawings, everything that they discovered, and how they fixed the most pressing problems. They even popped my rear bumper back into shape where someone had caught the edge. Ari was keenly present and patient while reporting his findings. He answered all my questions and made helpful suggestions regarding what might be the next priortiy to address when I am ready. I walked away smiling, feeling like I received so much for a super reasonable final bill. I am beyond impressed. I feel 100% safe driving across the desert and beyond, and am looking forward to the next time I visit Master Tech. The integrity and caring are truly heartening. I've found my forever mechanic.
