The outside courtyard, with a beautiful seating area for prayer or just to relax.

Came here one weekend to see what this parish was about. It's quite grand of a place, with all the things you seek for at a Catholic Church: community and a place for prayer. The church ground itself is quite beautiful, with a beautiful and calm garden area to contemplate your thoughts, or just to enjoy the view. They have a few masses throughout the weekend, including a Chinese mass on Sundays (it's in Mandarin Chinese, for those who are curious). But the English Mass that I attended was really nice. Father Tran led the mass and he was outspoken and gave a suitable homily for that Mass. The St. Thomas community also seem to be a friendly bunch and you will feel that when you attend any of their activites. The community it felt warm and welcoming. This location has a very open and casual seating, instead of the usual rows of wooden pews. That's right, there are no pews. But, you'll have access to pretty comfy fabric seats with the post for kneeling. So, you're totally covered. St. Thomas is located in a very open space in Irvine and the parking lot is quite big, so parking shouldn't be a problem. It can get congested after mass, but that happens just about every parish out there. So...Come to St. Thomas. They're welcoming and it's a good place to stay close to Our Lord. God Bless.

Welcoming parish, and the parishioners are extremely hospitable. If I lived closer, this would be my parish.

    Very nice for wedding pics!

A very pretty church for wedding pictures! On the outside, at least. I came here for a friend's wedding. Located close to the Marketplace, I didn't even know there was a church over here! It must be the dormant Catholic in me. I've always wanted pictures with a huge cross but since we would not be married in a church, it was already out of the question. I wonder if we could stop by here for pictures anyway.... http://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=tv4tnAgmVGwFTPzAkw6LUg&userid=M-Xtpt3o_tx-PPAX9DOSNw This would've been better if this arbor was covered with vines. http://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=fF9ZMW0sWmgt_iArfez1qA&userid=M-Xtpt3o_tx-PPAX9DOSNw More winery/vineyard photo shoots can be done here. http://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=YnvkFPCYwvPuORpCIN6cdQ&userid=M-Xtpt3o_tx-PPAX9DOSNw Possible outdoor ceremony? If the Church allows it, this would be lovely. http://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=ag9MLsAT3mMHPvuCm8WzIA&userid=M-Xtpt3o_tx-PPAX9DOSNw It can also be nicely lit at night. http://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=8OvPs5XYf02W8frIxOAHtA&userid=M-Xtpt3o_tx-PPAX9DOSNw There is adequate and comfortable outdoor seating for your guests. And still pretty enough for more pictures! http://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=7FxAOgewJLrt5SwdNs7w_w&userid=M-Xtpt3o_tx-PPAX9DOSNw Inside however, is so much smaller than expected. I was very surprised that it was also flat. Most churches I've been to have that "old-theater"-like seating where there is a small slope to go down to the altar. OR, the altar is so high up and elevated, after a very long walkway. This was neither. http://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=pvswplSffsI7Q9uu-VrGNw&userid=M-Xtpt3o_tx-PPAX9DOSNw My fiance commented that it was almost like they ran out of money. The office-like ceilings are not very pretty. http://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=6dDL9_r6bj45Xg0VXOk4rw&userid=M-Xtpt3o_tx-PPAX9DOSNw A big plus though, the chairs are comfortable. Not the old wooden church pews that one would expect. The wedding mass lasted an hour. The priest spoke well, but coughed into his microphone half the time. Otherwise, it was a pleasant ceremony. If you are considering getting married in a church and would like a picturesque (outside) setting for pictures, I'd highly recommend looking into St. Thomas More!

    Inside. It's open and airy.

Doesn't feel like a community. The grounds are beautiful but the inside of the church is like a gym with padded seats.

Ask the Community - Saint Thomas More Catholic Parish

In 2023, Which mass has a children's liturgy of the word? Is it weekly?

Does this church by any chance offer children classes during mass?

Yes they do. During the school year, normally once a month, there is what is called the Children's Liturgy at 9:30 Mass. Families come in and collect orange or yellow cards that they would take to their seat. Right before the readings begin (after…

Everything felt well organized and planned. The people taking me in took a minute to ask my name and connect. In the teen area check-in wasn't so organized- but there was a new system. The 3 "greeters" (all teens) were neither warm nor welcoming, but I was told everyone inside was quite welcoming. The teen message was reported back as one of the best ever before heard. I found the crowd to look pretty mixed and people looked like the average OC people that I encounter just about everywhere else around. The message was incredible and the guests message was equally inspirational. The thing that stood out to me was the message imprinted on me in a way that I don't feel happens other places. I didn't take notes, and yet I found myself able to recall the message well and access it through the week. While I'd heard the name Greg Laurie before, I didn't know much beyond that. I left hungry to know more about pastor Greg and his ministry, and constantly seeking out more of his messages. Parking wasn't the most fun I've ever had though. Save extra time to park.

Everyone is so kind and welcoming. With a great diversity of people from all types of backgrounds. We all accept each other even if we are different. The worship is incredible and the service times make it easy for most people. I have been to so many churches in OC but none stress discipleship like Harvest. For those who get involved, you will be looked after, cared for, challenged to grow in your faith. The focus is prayer and discipleship. Spiritual growth comes from having close relationships with others like you who want to grow. Each person helps each other through love and fellowship. One of the other great elements of Harvest is our senior pastor Greg Laurie. Every week, we get the best messages. It is a blessing to be a part of this church.

We've been here three times since last year, and I can't believe I never checked in before this. Our first visit was during the 2017 NAMM show. We were fortunate to actually attend NAMM and found that an artist that we'd recently discovered (Antoine Dufour) was playing a set during the convention. We bought our tickets and drove from Anaheim to Irvine, to this little church in a strip mall. The space is welcoming and open, which you'd probably expect from a space that's normally a church. The thing that I loved about being here is that the pastor opened up the sets by explaining why they decided to do this: they have a passion for the arts and want to contribute to artists' successes as much as possible. I can get behind that! They have a good sound system, and no matter the setup (we've been to shows that have just rows of chairs lined up, and to a show where they had small couches mixed in with the chairs), you'll experience decent audio quality. I signed up for the upcoming shows mailing list, and it's interesting to see the acts they have coming through. Like I said, we've been three times, and I keep an eye on their calendar just to make sure we're not missing anybody. Definitely a great venue, and one we're always happy to visit.
