I want to give them a good review but I can't. First time I came the sushi was GREAT but the service was trash I came during my lunch break and sat outside. I was ignored after telling the waitress I was waiting for a friend eventually I had to walk inside to place my order. I waited and waited to receive my food but I then again had to go inside and stress I had to go to work (mind you my rolls were done just sitting on the counter) and if she could please pack it to go. I went with my wife before a concert at TIAA. The place looks a disheveled. To the right is a plexiglass barrier to separate the dining room from what was the sushi bar. I guessing this is a COVID change. The dining room also has what looks like it use to be a sushi bar but there's a large table behind the bar. They had all of their napkins, chopsticks, straws, etc setup on the bar. I'm not sure why it wasn't in the back. I checked in to Yelp and saw that there was a free, Philly Cheese Krab for checking in so we ordered it. My wife got the shrimp tempura app, a bowl of steamed white rice. She's not big on sushi. I ordered the sushi & sashimi combination. They brought out the tempura and Krab first. The yum yum sauce and gyoza sauce that came with the tempura were both kind of bland. The gyoza didn't really taste like anything. It might have been watered down. I'm not a fan of mayo and the Philly Cheese Krab looked like it topped in spicy Mayo so I didn't try it. It's basically, cream cheese in between two Krab sticks with a light tempura batter. The miso soup was also very bland. It was like hot water in a bowl with a couple diced mushrooms and panko flakes sitting at the bottom. The salad was pretty bland too. The ginger dressing has a dark orange color so I was surprised when it didn't taste like anything. My entree was below average at best. The Cali roll didn't have much taste. The chef's choice was 4 tuna nigiri, 4 salmon nigiri, 3 escolar sashimi, 3 white fish, 1 shrimp and 1 smoked salmon. The tuna was that pink color which makes me wonder if it's even really tuna. I'm not sure if I've ever been to a place that includes shrimp or smoked salmon as part of their chef's choice combo. When I came time to check out, I gave the server the Philly Cheese Krab offer. She redeemed it and then brought us the check. The Philly Cheese Krab wasn't off the bill so we brought it to the server's attention. She told us that the Yelp offer was for a smaller portion of the Philly Cheese Krab. I was confused so I asked if we were getting more Philly Cheese Krab and she said. It was a little weird she didn't say anything about ringing in more food when she redeemed the offer on my phone. It's a hike from downtown but go to Pacific Bistro in Palencia. They told me I'd need to reorder it ( pay full price) There I sit STUCK with sushi that I didn't want and still hungry especially after waited almost 1 hour to be served! I didn't make a scene, although was highly upset. I just paid the check (declined the discount) and I told them that I'd never come back again. There was a decent crowd at that time and I bet they get a good crowd from local hotel guests (like myself). This was my favorite sushi lunch spot. It was close to downtown and could order online. They use to have a lunch special for 2 or 3 rolls with soup and salad. I wasn't aware when they changed it to soup or salad because when I ordered online it didn't change however the priced had changed. Got a yelp account just to review this location right before I head to college! I came here yesterday and ordered some of my favorite sashimis: salmon, yellowtail and white tuna. I ordered more but I forgot to take pictures of them before I ate! The service was great, and the sashimi was amazing. I will keep visiting this place when I came back home break because the food is just always impeccable, and I can always expect traditional Japanese cuisine when I come here! I also love how they handled Covid-19 protocols. Utilizing the space of the old sushi bar was a great way to enforce social distancing for customers while also allowing for more space!! I liked that they showed that they still cared about the concerns of their customers especially during such a difficult time. At first sight, the restaurant didn't look very fancy or attractive to the eye; but it looked pretty clean and the service was nothing special. We have nothing to complain about. (Sake House 2 / Riverplace Blvd) I live in the Riverside/Avondale neighborhood where there are three sushi restaurants a stones throw from my front door... yet... I make the short 9 minute drive to frequent this one, when possible. It's on the first floor of the San Marco Condos, across from the River walk. There is convenient, designated parking close to the front door. The sushi, sashimi, soups, and salads are delicious. The sauces are spot on (tangy and sweet), without being watered down. The quality and proportions of the rolls are consistent and what you'd expect. The atmosphere has a great feel to it. Prices are comparable to other establishments, and maybe even slightly less expensive on some of the more popular rolls., The service is sometimes more, sometimes less attentive, but everyone is trying their best and kind. Why THIS particular restaurant? Well, there are many good sushi restaurants all over this city. (Jacksonville is lucky) I like to come to this one because as a single person, it has a neighborhood AND cosmopolitan feel. You get clientele from 2 condo's, one apartment building, downtown workers, and then spill over from local, historic neighborhoods. I had the Chirashi Sushi and I was surprised by the different presentation as it came on a platter instead of the traditional bowl. The portion was satisfying and the fish was very fresh. The only problem was they could not tell the different in what we ordered. We ordered several rolls that came out on a ship which was BADASS but we could not differentiate what we ordered save for the conch roll.
